I agree with the comments concerning the installation crews. They worked together better than any group i’ve seen. My problem with the company started within the first year when it was noted that the ceiling in kitchen and bedroom showed I had leaks. It took forever but I finally sent them pictures, personnel came and tried to find leaks and that was the extent of their help. Finally decided to contact a roofing company, of course my roof needed to be replaced to correct. The contractor told me the solar company should not have installed panels on a roof that was already reaching the need to be replaced. Now I was faced with $11,500 roof replacement only to find out I needed to pay the solar company another $4810 to remove and replace panels that caused the problem in the first place. In the reinstalling Power Home changed the mounting system since they had already received complaints on the old system. I should have never had to pay them to remove and replace panels. My system was just reaching 1 year old, i’m 100% disabled and tired of being taken advantage of.

Power Home Solar installed our system in 2017 with promises of lower electric bills and that the federal and state governments would pay at least 90% of the cost. We bought our system here, at our home in SC. Every word their rep said is a total lie! The solar panels do generate power but the power never reaches our home. Their monitor shows power being put out but as I've told them time and again it never reaches our electric service, it has never saved us even one penny! Our electric bills have stayed the same and even moved up during some months! In addition to the bills remaining the same we have to pay almost $200.00 per month to a finance company to pay for the system that the PHS rep said would be paid by the state and federal government! We called and explained the problem and asked that a Technician be sent out to find the problem many, many times until they stopped answering or returning our calls. No one came out, they stopped emailing and totally put us on ignore.

My Wife has had to take a unpaid LOA from her job at the Charlotte NC Airport due to the current Coronavirus situation, her having Asthma and in order to help me. I am a disabled Vietnam Veteran on Medicare with COPD, Sleep Apnea, Diabetes and PTSD. Without her salary to help with our bills we are going through our meger savings rather quickly. We need this system checked by one of their Technicians and put into working order ASAP!

Mr., thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will have somebody reach out to you to rectify this situation as soon as possible. Thank you.

I was over sold and under delivered on a home solar system. The product I was sold, based upon what my sales rep calculated was supposed to minimize or completely power my home and not need to import power from the local energy company. this was supposed to reduce my bill significantly. instead I am still consuming and paying the power company with way more than what I was being sold, while having to pay the loan on my panels that are under producing.
My second complaint is with the communication. Over the last few weeks I have called several times and made contact with customer support reps., they have ran system checks and admitted that my panels are under producing. Once that was established, I was told a supervisor would contact me, that was nearly two weeks ago. This week a made several more calls leaving messages with no return calls. Yesterday, I figured I would call one more time before filing a complaint. I spoke was able to make contact with a different customer service rep and was assured I would have a call back from a supervisor, well that hasn't happened. I can no longer wait for a manager to call me back.

POWERHOME SOLAR Response • Feb 13, 2020

Scam! Do Not Sign a Contract With Powerhome Solar!
I hate to write this review but our experience with Powerhome Solar has reached a point where I feel I have no other choice. We believe in the importance of solar power and want to support the companies working to create green energy. However, Powerhome Solar has shown itself to be an untrustworthy company. We currently have a $27,000 loan for solar panels installed on our roof that do not, and have NEVER worked. They have not even been turned on. And based on our conversations with the company we know that we are not alone.
After signing a contract with Powerhome Solar they installed our solar panels as if everything was fine and good. We had inspectors come out and were in the process of waiting for DTE (our local utility company) to approve the installation and turn our panels on, which is expected to take 7-10 days. 3 weeks after the inspection we had heard nothing from Powerhome Solar or DTE. We called Powerhome Solar multiple times to try to figure out what was wrong. They told us on multiple occasions that they had sent everything to DTE and were waiting to hear back. After over a month of waiting and being given the run around, we called Powerhome Solar and demanded an explanation. They told us that DTE was denying our installation because they installed a different inverter then the one in the plans. They also explained that the correct inverter was on a world wide back order. When we asked when the correct inverter would be installed they told us that they had no estimation of when it would be available and that once it was finally available we would be in a long line of customers facing the same error. While this news was extremely frustrating considering we had a $27,000 loan to repay for solar panels that were not working, we wanted to believe that the company had the best of intentions. It was extremely disconcerting that this had obviously been an issue the company was aware of: they were knowingly installing systems that would be denied by DTE, they had a long list of unsatisfied customers waiting for the correct inverter, they were continuing to instal the wrong system without telling customers their panels would be worthless and unusable, and they were not openly communicating this with customers but rather only divulging this information to customers after they demanded an explanation.
After all this, we still held out hope that they company had the right intentions. We were told by our case manager that we would be reimbursed for our loan payments each month until the solar panels were up and running. We received the first moths reimbursement check along with a promise from our case manager that we would receive monthly updates from her personally on the progress with getting the new inverter, along with reimbursement checks before our loan payment was due each month. The following month our payment due date came and went without a check or any contact from Powerhome Solar. We tried reaching out to our case manager via email and phone. Our calls and emails were never returned. After several attempts to call our case manager and leave messages, a man answered our call and told us that the person we were looking for was no longer at that number and that the number had been recycled to him a few weeks earlier. We then reached out to the company through their customer service number and went through several hours of dropped calls, unreturned messages etc. before finally being contacted by our new case manager. Our new case manager assured us a check was on its way and said he would send the letterhead over for the following months reimbursement as well. Neither of those things were true.
It is now January 8th. We have still not received our reimbursement check for last month, Decembers, loan payment and are past due for Januarys. We have reached out countless times via email and phone to our case manager. Each time we are assured the check is on the way and given a new excuse as to why it is delayed. We feel sad and betrayed by a company we believed in.
We have $27,000 in debt for solar panels that have never been turned on. Solar panels that were installed by a company knowing they would not be approved. This company is a SCAM. We believe in the necessity of alternative energies and the potential of Solar power, but please, do not go through this company. They are thieves.
