I had to cancel a flight. I called the company and was advised by a customer service agent that there is no problem as long as the person named on the ticket travels within one year. The agent told me how much fee I had to pay for cancelling and that I had to pay the balance if the price for the new ticket is the same.
I agreed and the agent provided me with a Trip Number and a "Case ID number" for the transaction on that same day. When I ready to buy the ticket, I called the company they said that I lost the money because the person did not travel. They were able to find all the information with the trip number but nobody knows this case ID number I was provided with.
Now the company has my money and I don't know what to do.

We are in receipt of the complaint initiated by the
above-mentioned consumer and appreciate the...

According to the consumer, she purchased a one way rental
car, with a pick up and drop off in two different locations; however, priceline
confirmed a rental car with a pick up and drop off in the same location. The consumer
was charged a one day rental cancel fee in order to cancel the non-refundable reservation
and is requesting a refund for the one day cancel fee.
Attached hereto is a copy of the consumer’s initialed
contract page authorizing the non-refundable, non-changeable terms conditions
of the selected purchase as well as the selected pick up and drop off location.

Our record indicates that the hotel informed priceline that due to overbooking issues, the hotel accommodated the guests from the 5 star [redacted] Hotel to the 5 star [redacted]. According to the consumer, when the guests arrived at the hotel, they were able to change the room from the [redacted] back to the [redacted] at their request. The hotel confirmed that the guests used the reservation as booked and we are pleased that the guests were accommodated at their desired property. We apologize for any difficulty the consumer experienced with our online services and we are sorry that we are unable to assist the consumer any further in this situation.

I am rejecting this response because:
 
This response really said nothing at all other than that Priceline denied any kind of reimbursement.  The issue still remains wholly on the table.  For a company to charge a customer half of their purchase price due to a misclick is ludicrous to me.  I submitted a form on their site with the current date automatically filled out when I actually wanted the hotel for the coming Sunday the whole time.  I called the company within minutes of submitting and realizing what had happened and the best they can offer me is half of my money back (as priceline credit) from the purchase only after I had purchased the correct date hotel.  
 
This is clearly taking advantage of customers and the people at Priceline know it.  An acceptable response from the company would have been to apply the funds I had used on the incorrect hotel night to the correct one and not offer a cash refund.  A customer-serving response would have even gone one step further and offered the full refund to my credit card.  While I understand not all companies are going to be customer-serving and really go the extra mile for their customers, to take advantage of the situation and claim my money as theirs is out of line.  That hotel room was off the market for all of 20 minutes (after being on hold on 2 calls to Priceline for 10 min each).
I'm not really even asking for a refund.  I am asking for the money that priceline took from me back.  In the end, I still purchased a Sunday night room at full price and also paid for half of a Wednesday night room-which I want returned to me.
 
This is just an example of how large companies have lost their customer service mentality and gained a mentality to scrape every dollar out of a customer in any way possible.

I am rejecting this response because it does not actually address the problem. Just giving a hotel a rating does not mean that the rating is accurate. I have experience with [redacted] and some of the other three-star hotels that you listed in the original offer. They do not offer dirty rooms, unchanged linen, cockroaches and mice to their guests. Your own reviews list numerous complaints along these lines. Priceline reads all reviews before posting; I have given reviews to your company in the past, so I know that this is the policy. If you have literally hundreds of complaints, and have not revised your reviews, then your company is failing in its part of the deals offered. You have taken money and not given fair service. I have complained because of this.
You write, "I know you expect a different answer", but in fact I had no such expectations. When my husband used on-line chat to complain, he was met with a series of rote responses and was left with the feeling that no one was actually listening or doing anything but brushing him off. I get the same feeling from your stock reply/refusal. I had no expectations, but I had hopes that you would respond to the problem at hand and make an effort to see if your company had actually made a mistake and would offer reparation. Your company is not perfect; mistakes can be and are made.
I have dealt with Priceline for years:I have rented cars at least twice a year, booked hotels last year and this year and your firm gave good service. This is the first time, in my experience, that you have failed to live up to your end of a bargain. Now, I know that I can no longer deal with your company because you have changed the way that you operate. we can add to what has already been stated in our previous correspondence.   Priceline
offers a variety travel service options, including our Published Price service
where the consumer selects his/her specific itinerary, including nonstop flights.
 When
selecting a reservation, the consumer is provided with the terms and booking conditions
associated with each reservation. In this case, the consumer selected a
reservation that provided greater savings and less flexibility. Our records
confirm that in order to obtain greater savings, the consumer selected the purchases
a Name Your Own Price reservation and agreed to make one stop in each direction
as noted on his initialed contract. The consumer then contacted Priceline requesting
a refund for the reservation as he did not want an itinerary with one stopover.
The consumer was advised that he selected the purchase of a Name Your Own Price
ticket and agreed to the terms and conditions listed on his contract page, including
making one stopover in each direction. We informed the consumer that we are
unable to change, cancel or refund the reservation. The consumer then chose to
dispute the purchase with his credit card issuing bank. Once the consumer
initiates a credit card dispute with the intent not to pay for an authorized
purchase and the bank withdraws the funds from Priceline outside the terms of
this agreement, the reservation is cancelled.  I am sorry that Priceline is unable to assist
the consumer any further in this situation.

I will never use Priceline again, booked a hotel apparently my email address was incorrect so I never got a email confirmation, I called the hotel and the phone rang and rang, cannot get ahold of priceline either. so I booked else where, I look at my credit card statement and they charged me for the stay,. I called three times and repeated my story over and over with no resolution. I was charged for a service I never GOT!

Before negotiating my own price, I carefully researched every 5- star hotel description in location 7( [redacted] Strip) placed there according to priceline's description for each hotel. Priceline has become very misleading. In the specific description section of each particular hotel is accurate but when you go into the name your own price section they change it to include hotels that were not mentioned in that zone in the specific hotels description. I will not be using Priceline any longer as there are many more competitors available that do not use these deceptive practices. I will surely  make these deceptive practices known on travel blogs and other travel websites to make it known that Priceline is conducting business in a dishonest, misleading, and unethical way. I have attached a file with a snap shot of Priceline's own website showing how they themselves describe the location of the Trump Hotel. After doing some research of my own, I can see that I am not the only customer to experience this. There are many more very similar complaints regarding these deceptive practices.

We have
received the consumer’s additional comments. 
As you requested, we have again reviewed this matter to see if we
overlooked anything that might support a more favorable conclusion. Unfortunately,
there is nothing we can add to what has already been stated in our previous
correspondence. The
hotel informed us that they offered the guests a room on the first floor with a
King bed, and a pull out sofa. However, the guests declined the option and the hotel
cannot offer a refund per cancelation policy of your booking.  We are sorry that we are unable to assist the consumer any further in this situation.

I am rejecting this response because:
It was unclear on the search page that the "free wireless" I was using as a search criterion included properties that only had it in public areas. It did not occur to me that a company would be so misleading. It is true that I did not read the fine print on the contract. However, I still believe it is dishonest to include in-room and in-public places as the same amenity when searching for rooms. When customers are searching for the free-wifi feature, they assume this means in-room, since the whole point of that feature is to avoid having to pay a fee to use it in your room. Priceline knows this, and is clearly trying to swindle its customers.
