Save your money, buy your own water heater. ***. We have been renting with them for 2 years now and have had nothing but headaches with them. This particular time is regarding the fixing of our water heater that we rent from them. Please note that at every single phone call and interaction I did mention that my wife is pregnant and needs the hot water. Our heater broke sometime on Sunday night, so I called Monday. They advised that someone would come by Tuesday. The tech showed up as promised but doesn't have the main part he needs to fix it (gas valve) so the tech sends in an order, says it will be in Wednesday and to "call the number on the box and we will come out that day you get it". Wednesday came, we got the part in the mail. We call the number, after 20 minutes of back and forth with the person on the phone they agree to have someone come to come between 7pm and 11pm. We got a call at 7:53pm the tech calls and says that he's 15 minutes away and will be here shortly. At 8:15pm someone in a call center calls me and tells me that he's in fact not on his way and is over an hour away from my house. I advised this person of the issues we've been having, reminded her that my wife is pregnant and needs the shower. She advised that she will "definitely" have someone come out tonight no matter what. We received another call from the same woman advising that the tech is hung up at another job and won't be here until closer to midnight. at 10:45pm I got a call from the same woman who became extremely dismissive, would not explain why we wouldn't have our heater fixed. I plead with the lady, reminding her of my pregnant wife who needs the shower and the hot water and I would wait up through the night if I had to for them. All I could get was "I'm sorry you feel that way" and "it doesn't matter, we're not coming tonight either way now".

The people I had spoken to and dealt with at this company all lack compassion and common decency. If it were just me I would have probably just dealt with it, however, I have a pregnant wife who hasn't been able to shower in 3 days so far and NOBODY at this company seems to care. ***. Save up and get one outright. You'll spend way less over the lifetime of it and you'll more than likely have a way better experience.

If you are looking at renting a hot water tank from Reliance...don't. Several years ago (9+) I needed a hot water tank and decided to give Reliance a try after a salesman came to my door. There were no issues with the water heater until it came time to replace it. When I called Reliance and told them I was going to buy my own water heater (because they wouldn't transfer the rental to my tenants) they told me that I had to pay them $150 to take out the tank and another $150 to close the account. I was shocked, especially after being with them for so many years. With the pending $300 looming over my head, I asked them how much it would cost to buy the tank out-right (I was thinking a couple hundred bucks for a 9 year old tank) and my jaw hit the floor when they told me it would be $1,000. ***! Not to mention they told me they had to calculate the buyout using my monthly payment from year one ($16 vs $22). At that point I had enough and told them to take it away, I just wanted to be done with it. The agent then had the tenacity to ask if it was ok if the service guy went over some of their other products with me after the tear down. Finally, I was told Reliance would be putting the 9 year old tank on their show room floor for sale as a refurbished model.

Since I phoned Reliance Home Comfort I realized that I was wrong. I really regret this kind of call. I can't say anything about this experience. It sucks so much. They gave me the wrong time, the wrong location, and the wrong people.

Our AC split unit was poorly installed by Reliance (unevenly attached to the wall outside). Stains were left on our carpet inside from a tarp they used that apparently melted. Reliance also left a hole left in our closet. The hole and outdoor installation were finally resolved weeks after the initial installation. The carpet stains were harshly cleaned by HVAC personnel (not qualified carpet contractors) sent by reliance. The cleaning did damage to the carpet, causing pilling and fraying, and the stains were not completely removed. Our carpet was high-end, wool, and in excellent condition before the AC installation. Reliance still hasn't paid to replace the carpet or even obtain a quote almost a month after the initial installation. Communication has been extremely slow and evasive. Customer service keeps poor records, making follow-up very difficult. Trying to contact management is almost impossible. Calls are ignored. Responsibility is denied. Just an awful all around experience dealing with Reliance.

We did not have hot water. One quick call to Reliance and an appointment was set up for same day. The first appointment available was within couple of hours. However I opted for an evening one. The technician Luis B. was knowledgeable and knew what he had to do. He resolved the issue and also patiently answered all my questions.

Today Gurpreet came by to help with our hot water tank not producing hot water. He easily changed the solenoid and when he turned everything on he noticed that there was a bit of smoke coming from the motherboard. His attention to detail recognized this right away and he fixed it by replacing the whole unit.

Tonight I received EXCELLENT service from a Reliance technician who came to my home to fix my AC. He drove over an hour to get to my small town which took him over his normal hour shift, I am sure. Not only did her fix the problem in short time but also gave me some useful tips on running my AC but made sure everything was up and running properly before he left. His name is Armajit B. and I would like to have him return to service my furnace in the fall.

. I booked a day off to wait for Reliance to fix my water heater. 3 hours past the given time window (8 a.m - 1 p.m) and not a single call to let me know they were running late (I had to call them to know the status). Needless to say, my day was ruined as I had other obligations and couldn't do them because Reliance was unreliable and *** and took my whole day without getting anything done. They simply said if I wanted to reschedule, I said no and will strongly consider changing to another company.
