Our records
indicate that this rental order was placed on 8.29.2016 for the two following
books:Trusted Criminals: White Collar Crime In Contemporary Society, by Friedrichs, 4th EditionTaking Sides: Clashing Views in Crime and Criminology, by Hickey, 11th EditionBoth books
were due on 1.23.2017...

however we only received the book titled Trusted Criminals: White Collar Crime In
Contemporary Society, by Friedrichs, 4th Edition back. We have not received
the book titled Taking Sides: Clashing
Views in Crime and Criminology, by Hickey, 11th Edition. We sent several
reminder emails to the email address on file regarding this book. We allow a 20
day grace period after the due date and we did not receive the book within that
timeframe. Per the rental terms and conditions agreed to at the time of
purchase, rentals must be received within 20 days after the due date otherwise
the full cost to purchase the rental will be applied. Once the
rental was past due, we attempted to charge the full cost to purchase the book
since it was not returned. We attempted this charge twice and both times were
unsuccessful therefore the order was sent into collections as per the rental
terms and conditions agreed to at the time of purchase. The order was sent to
collections on 2.27.2017 and on that same date a letter was sent in the mail
advising the customer that they have 30 days to contact and resolve the issue
otherwise it would be considered as a valid debt. We did not receive any
contact or payment therefore the order was sent into full collections on
3.30.2017. At that time, we sent another letter in the mail but still did not
receive any contact from the customer. Despite being sent several reminder
emails and letters, we did not receive any contact from the customer regarding
the order and we are unable to consider the book returned since it has not been
received.

I am rejecting this response because: The book that I sent them was brand new, never used.  They are refusing to send the book back so I can verify that they claims are false and probably a scam to resell my book for financial gain while refusing to pay me. They have not provided any evidence that the book I sent had writing in it or evidence that they "recycled it". This business needs to pay me for the book or return the book.

The title states Calculus, Hybrid (with Enhanced WebAssign Homework and eBook LOE Printed Access Card for Multi Term Math and Science). In the title it clearly says "with Enhanced WebAssign Homework and eBook LOE Printed Access Card" meaning that the book comes with the access card. If you do not have any of the access cards for the book I purchased, then why does the title say it comes with an access card?Sincerely,[redacted]

Your order is still within the return policy and you are welcome to return your item for a full refund. provided a prepaid label and the book was still not returned. We received the
book after the 20 day grace period on 3.15.2017 and the refund was processed on
that date. There is no refund to issue at this time since it has already been
refunded.

Complaint: [redacted] I only saw one ISBN on the book, [redacted]. If there had been more than one ISBN I would have seen it and checked the edition. I know you do not accept instructor books and would not knowingly send one. If you are going to insist that it is an instructor book and refuse to send payment, please return the book to me. We have
received this book titled School Law and the Public Schools: A Practical Guide
for Educational Leaders, by Essex, 6th Edition from this customer. Upon
receiving books at our processing warehouse, our Buyback team inspects the book
and processes it according to several factors which...

include the ISBN, copyright
year, condition, and whether or not the book is inauthentic. We determine
whether books are inauthentic by several factors such as print quality, page
finish, binding, etc. Inauthentic
books are illegal for resale. Since they are illegally printed copies, we do
not pay for them and we do not resell them. Per our Buyback policy, “Any
items submitted to Bookbyte that are determined to be illegally obtained or
printed will be surrendered to the proper authorities (i.e., law enforcement,
publishers, or retailers).”We do not
send inauthentic books back to the customer because these copies are illegal
and should not be in circulation.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:  I am so so sorry that RentU is under the restrictive grip of the Amazon monster.  It is a shame they are the hapless victim of the their one sided policy and procedures and have no authority to do the right thing and direct Amazon to issue the refund for the difference.  It must be a nice contractual agreement for RentU to just receive financial gains from Amazon and when any issues or problems arise, simply blame Amazon.  Continue to hide and take no action and feel like the victim, congrats RentU.

I did not receive a shipment confirmation or tracking number as I have already explained in our previous conversation. This is getting nowhere. Hello and thank you for contacting us. Your order has been reviewed and our records show that the title of this book was listed as “Genetics: From Genes to Genomes, by Hartwell, 5th INTERNATIONAL EDITION” at the time of purchase. Your order was placed through the Student Marketplace on our website...

and the Marketplace seller for that book specifically listed the book as the International edition. Despite being sent the correct item, the order was still refunded in full on 11.18.2015. The refund was processed back to your original payment method therefore you would need to contact your financial institution if you have not received the refund. A prepaid label has been emailed to you to send back the item.

The designation of volume buyer is based on a high volume of activity, it is not something you sign up for.  Your account history indicates you've placed 85 orders this year alone.  As well as over 100 buyback orders.  A typical college student's account would have substantially less activity.

Buyback team inspected Pharmacology and the Nursing Process, 8e, and found that the book contained binding damage which prevents normal use of the book. Since we are unable to resell books that can not be used, we unfortunately can not purchase them.  We do encourage customers to take the proper precautions with their shipping company and to purchase optional insurance through USPS, as we cannot pay for books that are lost or damaged before they reach us.  Our Buyback team also inspected Physical Examination and Health Assessment, 7e and found it to be an inauthentic copy.  Upon receiving books, our Buyback team first checks the ISBN on the book to ensure that it's the same as the ISBN on the order. Then they check the condition of the book. When checking the condition of the book, they also check for book authenticity. Because of the rising costs of textbooks, there are currently many scams/companies that print and sell illegal copies of textbooks. Some indicators that books are inauthentic are:  -Poor binding  -Different/lower page quality -Printing quality -Printing dimensions -Front and back cover art distorted/mis-aligned  If we find these indicators, we then compare it to an authentic copy of the book and if it doesn't match then that is when it's flagged as an inauthentic copy. Per our Buyback policy, "Bookbyte reserves the right to inquire how items were originally acquired and request proof of ownership. While under investigation, payment may be delayed or withheld. I requested a refund of the expedited shipping because-as they later admitted-it was shipped standard mailing. I NEED the book for my class. However, thanks to their obscene level of incompetence, I now have the book I desperately need for class (delivered just this afternoon) sitting on my piano waiting to be shipped back to them tomorrow because they refunded the entire purchase. Now I have to order the book from somewhere else and wait yet longer. No words can express my remorse at choosing to do business with Bookbyte. Furthermore, in my initial complaint, I specifically stated that resolution could be reached by the aforementioned company changing their ordering process so that any poor saps who stumble across their website in the future will have sufficient warning of their convoluted shipping policies.
