Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I will print the fedex label and mail it tomorrow.Sincerely, [redacted]

Hello,  I filed a complaint for a business earlier this weekend, but this business and I have resolved our conflict outside of the complaint. Is there any way to revoke the complaint? My complaint ID is:  [redacted] The business information is: Business...

Name:         Rentu.com LLC Address: Salem, OR 97306 Phone: (503) 378-1500 Thank you for your time.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:Customer was credited 46.11 to the bank instead of the committed 50.10
Questionable actions such as this makes the customer very wary as to conducting business with BookByte in the future.  It is assumed that this merchant is not trustworthy.
Further, the length of time and level of priority in which to resolve this matter was non-urgent for the vendor.  Customer was upset that this was a duplicate order, erroneously placed, yet when the item was received by /returned to the vendor, the vendor did not seek to resolve the matter (and refund the customer) promptly.
Sincerely,[redacted]

RE: [redacted]Thank you for reaching out to us. I definitely do apologize for your frustration regarding your order experience.  I have reviewed your claim and order information.
Your order was received on 03/30/2016 and it was noted at that time that the package was received opened and...

damaged. It is company policy to take pictures of any box that is received in open or damaged condition. Please see the pictures at the conclusion that were taken of your shipment.
The Buyback Policy located here (https://www.bookbyte.com/buyback-policy.aspx) which was agreed to when submitting your order did state:
Bookbyte is not responsible for any loss, damage, lateness, or mishandling that may occur while an item is in transit. If you are concerned that your shipment might be missing, late, or damaged, please contact the shipping company. While not required, Bookbyte recommends the following:
Purchase optional insurance through USPS. As Bookbyte cannot reimburse lost, delayed, or damaged orders, Sellers are encouraged to take the proper precautions with their shipping company.
Bookbyte issues payment according to the contents of a shipment, not the contents of the onsite buyback quote. Therefore, no payment will be issued for books that are included in the quote but not received.Unfortunately, the order was received open and without any contents. I recommend that you contact USPS to submit a Lost Package Claim to see if they are able to locate the items in their recovery center. Again, I definitely do apologize for this inconvenience.
Please see the included images that were taken at the time your order arrived:

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: there is no notation on my account signifying that it is a volume account. I did not open a volume account with Bookbyte nor did I agree to opening a volume account. Therefore, this policy does not apply to me and I am not in violation of any policy.

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because: This is the same response that Bookbyte provided me when I originally reached out, which I do not accept as I find their reasoning invalid.  First, when I asked to speak on the phone they continually provide me with the reasoning that their customer service team does not take calls and only responds to email.  Their receptionist said the same exact thing when I reached her on the phone.  This sounds very sketchy and fishy if you ask me that they will not speak to you on the phone to resolve a problem.  Second, they provided me photos that were not of my book a few weeks after the fact when I asked for more color on the damage that they claimed.  The book that they provided photos of looked like it had been taken out of inventory.  The spine was completely broken and their was damage to the cover.  Due to how I packaged the product and the fact that I sold them a book that was only open 2-3 times and was in like new mint condition when sent, I find their photos to be falsified and not of my book.  Third, I sold a book last Monday to [redacted] in the same exact like new condition as the one sent to Bookbyte and I had my payment received on Friday.  Fourth, please read the reviews on sites like [redacted], [redacted] etc.  You will see a common theme on those comments from those that sold their books to Bookbyte.  Their buyback is a program a scam and is made so that they can take in books without paying their customers so they can sell them at a significantly higher price in order to make a profit.  Fifth, I am still expecting the payment that is owed to me.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Hello, When you placed the buyback order, you were given a quote based on the ISBNs that were entered. This is not a guarantee you will receive this amount as all books are inspected upon arrival. Our records show that only one item (Communicating at Work: Strategies for Success in Business and...

the Professions, by Adler, 11th Edition) was received in your shipment for order #[redacted]. When orders arrive here the order ID, number of books enclosed is documented. If a box is damaged upon its arrival photos are taken to document this as well. There are no photos of your order which means it was intact when it arrived here. Unfortunately, we are not able to pay for books that we do not receive.  We did not receive the item titled Human Resources Law, by Remington, 5th Edition.  Please keep in mind that we don’t automatically insure our packages. Take care to package your books properly and, if necessary, o insure the package with the post office.  Please let me know if you have any further questions or you can find our Buyback policy at the following link: http://support.bookbyte.com/support/solutions/articles/6000111839-buyback-policy... you, Rachel S.

Hello again, The Cost to Purchase fee of $259.91 is broken down here:  - List Price:  The publisher's list price for a textbook at the time of sale ($257.35)- Rental Price: List Price - Rental Discount ($257.35 - $230.65 = $26.70)- Rental Discount: The discount from List Price given to the customer for entering into a Rental Agreement ($230.65)- Default Fee: The fee charged to a customer for a Default of the Rental Agreement ($10.00)In accordance with Nexus, we are required to collect and pay tax on sales in your state.  The sales tax associated with the Cost to Purchase fee was $19.26.                             $230.65 + $10.00 + $19.26 = $259.91 Bookbyte attempted to charge this Cost to Purchase fee twice (6/28/2017 and 7/6/2017), however the transactions were declined.  The account was sent into a collections process on 7/18/2017. Once entered into the collections process, there may be additional interest charges in accordance with the collections agency policies & procedures.  Please let me know if I may be of any further assistance.Thank you, Bookbyte

You already said that. Please send $137.11.

Hello, Per our buyback policy, upon receipt of a shipped package into Bookbyte’s warehouse, ownership of the contents of the shipment transfer completely and wholly to Bookbyte. Bookbyte reserves the sole right to determine the value and condition of any included items according to its own...

standards and policies. Bookbyte also reserves the right to resell, recycle, or donate any item obtained through a buyback shipment.   By clicking the orange "Checkout" button and submitting your order on 12/29/2017 (see attached picture), you acknowledged our buyback policy.  Your Bookbyte account was updated on 1/11/2018 to show the item was rejected. Our processing team does a double check on every book that is deemed inauthentic. We look for several factors when determining if a book is authentic or inauthentic. If a book meets the criteria for being an inauthentic book, it is marked inauthentic and then sent to a second quality check to ensure that it is in fact not an authentic book. Each book that our warehouse finds to be inauthentic has been inspected twice.  Bookbyte reserves the right to inquire how items were originally acquired and request proof of ownership. While under investigation, payment may be delayed or withheld.Any items submitted to Bookbyte that are determined to be illegally obtained or printed will be surrendered to the proper authorities (i.e., law enforcement, publishers, or retailers).  You are welcome to view our buyback policy in full here:  http://support.bookbyte.com/support/solutions/articles/6000111839-buyba... let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.  Thank you, Bookbyte

Hello, I apologize for any inconvenience or confusion. When you placed the buyback order, you were given a quote based on the ISBN that was entered. This is not a guarantee you will receive this amount as all books are inspected upon arrival. Upon receiving your book, our Buyback team found...

that the book titled "Social Policy and Social Change: Toward the Creation of Social and Economic Justice, by Jimenez, 2nd Edition" contained cover/binding damage which prevents normal use of the book. Since we are unable to resell books that can not be used, we unfortunately can not purchase them. Per our Buyback policy: "Textbooks with excessive writing and highlighting, missing or damaged covers, missing pages, excessive odor, obscured text, or stuck-together pages have no resale value and will be recycled if sent." Unfortunately, per our Buyback policy, we are unable to send books back. Books that are rejected are either donated or recycled. Our Buyback policy specifically states: "Books with no resale value will be recycled or donated to charity". Since the item we received has already been recycled, it is not possible for us to send it back. You can find our full Buyback policy at the following link: http://support.bookbyte.com/support/solutions/articles/6000111839-buyback-policy... let me know if you have any further questions.

Hello,Thank you for reaching out to us. I have reviewed your Revdex.com claim. to during checkout. Reminder notifications are sent as a courtesy and are not a requirement of the Rental agreement. Not receiving the emails or accessing the email account you have provided on the My Account page does not negate the Rental Agreement.Notices are sent at the following intervals:30 days prior to date due14 days7 daysWhen dueWhen past dueYour order was due on 12/30/2015. We provide a 20 day grace period, and you were charged with non-return on 01/21/2016 as the rental was not received. The terms and conditions agreed to at the time of your rental stated that you will be charged the difference in the price you paid and the price to purchase outright if the book is not received within 20 days after the due date. You pay a discounted price to rent the book and if the book is not returned, this nullifies the discount received and the cost to purchase the book is charged. You can find this information at the following link: https://www.bookbyte.com/rentalterms.aspxYou are welcome to still send the late rental back for a refund within 14 days as already advised. You will receive a refund of the cost to purchase charge less a $10 late fee once we have received and processed the late return back. If you have additional questions, please let us know.

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:  As I previously stated, as soon as I received those books in March I returned them in the same box they came in.  Therefore, I was not aware of the policy regarding calling before the books are returned.  I did not hear anything until April, at which time I was actually surprised.  When I went to ask for a receipt or make a claim to the PostOffice they advised they do not keep that information after 30 days. I'm 100 positive the postoffice would havde delivered the books back without me calling to notify I was returning them to Bookbyte.  Is that the only way mail is delivered?  It was an honest mistake.  However, the books were returned.  I never received any information after that either.  Therefore, I assumed Bookbyte accounted for the books and that's why my bank agreed to my disputing the charges, which is what I advised Kerri I was going to do.  I never disputed the charge for renting the books, which I returned anyway and would not have but now they want me to actually pay for books I returned, which I did not use.   Sincerely,[redacted]
