SD Bullion Reviews (%countItem)

I'm a first-time customer with SD Bullion and I'm very impressed and satisfied. I placed my order on-line for some silver and platinum coins, totaling a few thousand dollars. I mailed in a check the next day, and received the shipment exactly 7 days after I placed the order. The shipment came in a sturdy, plain package that was very securely taped. They sent me an email at each stage of the process: aknowledging the order; on receipt of my check; when the check payment was approved; and when the order shipped. I hope to order more product from SD Bullion when I have funds available again.

Great price, response, shipping
I am keep ordering a new orders

Honest. Fair. Great customer service.

Thank you! We appreciate your business and the opportunity to be your bullion dealer!

Purchase order/check for 500 Eagles sent USPS Priority Mail took 12 days. Payments MUST be received in 7 days. Charged $370 for cancelling order.
Ordered 500 Am Silver Eagles and 1 10 oz silver bar on 03/23/2108 by website and phone. Submitted VISA debit card number and sent personal check of $9626.65 with purchase order via 2-Day Priority Mail to Ottawa Lake, MI the same day. Purchase order states: "Payments must be postmarked within 48 hours or your order and MUST be received within 7 days of order placement. USPS tracking indicated my order left *** on 03/24. Called SD Bullion 03/27 to confirm receipt of my order and check. It had not been delivered. Called again on 03/29, it still had not been delivered. Concerned my order MUST be received within 7 days, I offered to resend the order with Cashier's Check via FedEx. However, *** told me to just wait. Finally received USPS tracking info the envelope left Detroit PO at 9:45am on 04/02. I called *** at SD Bullion with the update and called on 04/03 and again on 04/04 to be informed it was delivered about 3:30pm. I received a call from *** with a Columbus, Ohio phone number late morning on 04/05 who said my check had to be reviewed and approved by a committee. I was the given the impression there might be a problem besides payment not being received within the required 7 days. Telling *** my preference was to cancel the order, place a stop payment on my check, I was told a 3% cancellation fee would be assessed on my VISA debit card. Concerned my payment of $9,626.65 was at risk, I restated my decision to cancel and place a stop payment on the check. Whereas I had placed my order with SD Bullion in Ottawa Lake, MI, being told my check was being reviewed by a committee in Columbus, OH was a red flag. After placing a stop order on my check, I received a call from a *** with SD Bullion, whether in Michigan or Ohio he didn't say. Admittedly, I was upset, however, he had little or no empathy for my concern, accusing me of anger in a somewhat demeaning and condescending manner. He threatened imposing the 3% cancellation and other fees. There was no attempt on the part of ***, the senior SD Bullion person to understand my concerns, admittedly caused by USPS taking 12 days to deliver a 2-Day Priority Mail and that the order MUST be received within 7 days of order placement as stated on the purchase order. Obviously, he carried out his threat immediately as a charge of $370.40 was posted on my bank account the following morning.

Did SD Bullion perform as stated......?

The Doc's Satisfaction Guarantee

The Doc believes in doing business the old-fashioned way. We provide every customer with a refund, return and/or exchange policy on everything we sell including all bullion and ammunition. If for any reason you have an issue with your order, please give us a call. We will always do our best to accommodate you!

The experience of this 73-year old senior citizen is there is a serious dichotomy between what the SD Bullion Docs believe in how they do "business the old-fashioned way" and their actions.

Desired Outcome

Returning $370.40 cancellation fees withdrawn on my VISA debit card.

SD Bullion Response • Apr 10, 2018

Dear Sir,

We do apologize about the misunderstanding regarding your purchase. However, this is consistent with our terms and conditions regarding non-payment which is relatively standard across all major online bullion dealers in the bullion industry.

When purchasing online or over the phone, each customer must agree to our terms before placing an order. Here are the sections of our terms of use page that are applicable to this case:

"When an order is confirmed, prices become locked-in and the order becomes a contractually binding agreement between the "buyer" and SD Bullion (Doc Investments LLC)."

"All cancelled orders are subject to a cancellation fee consisting of any market loss to SD Bullion along with an additional 3% of total purchase price."

"Cancellation penalty will be applied to a credit card on file previously used to secure an order either online or via telephone."

Our team has reviewed your order, phone recordings, and customer support tickets:

Customer placed order over the phone on 3/23/2018.. Customer chose to pay by personal check and decided to send the check via USPS priority.

USPS took 12 days to deliver customer's check. During this time, customer called multiple times to ask if we had received his check yet. Customer mentioned the idea of cancelling his check and paying with an alternative payment method. Phone representative conveyed to customer that sometimes it takes longer than normal for USPS to get checks to us. Customer decided not to send alternative payment method.

Check was received in the late afternoon of 4/4/2018. At this point, finance flagged this check as it didn't pass initial verification.

On 4/5/2018 at 4:54 p.m. est., phone representative reached out to customer to notify him that an alternative payment method would need to be sent. Customer expressed anger and told representative that "if you don't satisfy me right now, I'll be on the way to the bank to put a stop on that check."

The check verification case was immediately escalated to our finance management team. Our management team was able to perform additional means of verifying the authenticity of customer's check and approved the check for order processing within 25 minutes of the previous call.

Phone representative called customer back on 4/5/2018 at 5:19 p.m. est. (25 minutes after the previous call) to let customer know the check was approved for acceptance. At this point customer cuts representative off and says, "I tell you what, cancel the order and I'm going to the bank right now to put a stop payment on the check." And mentions "you have to take the action that you have to and so do I."

At this point, customer's case was escalated again to a senior manager who called the customer back. Customer continued to talk about the 12 day time frame in which it took USPS to deliver his check to SD Bullion. Customer did not let our manager speak. Customer stated he knew it was not SD Bullion's fault that it took the check 12 days to get to our office. Customer mentioned he was cancelling the order and representative reminded him that he entered a binding agreement and there were cancellation fees involved at which point customer says, "I don't give a (blank) about your policies."

On 4/6/2018, customer's order was cancelled and cancellation fees processed.

Clarification of additional customer statements from phone recordings:

-"being told my check was being reviewed by a committee in Columbus, OH was a red flag" (This phrase was never used in phone conversations. That's because we don't have a committee and currently have no staff in Columbus, OH. The phrase that was used was "our verification team")

-"I was the given the impression there might be a problem besides payment not being received within the required 7 days." (Customer was never given the impression there was an issue with payment not being received within 7 business days. This is common for USPS to not deliver on-time. As we know its not the customer's fault that USPS doesn't deliver on-time, we work with our customers on order payment and we do not automatically cancel their order for this reason as long as they are working with us to pay for their order per our terms and conditions).

We sincerely apologize of the issues you experienced with USPS. The issues were out of SD Bullion's control. Our company hedges our market price at the time of your order. Our terms and conditions you agreed to at time of purchase protects our company including losing money due to non-payment.

Thank you for purchasing your precious metals from SD Bullion.

- SD Bullion Sales Team

I have ordered from SD Bullion twice. The first time, I used a personal check to pay, knowing the order would not be shipped until after the check had cleared. They do advise there is a 7 - 10 day processing fee. Ten days after my check had cleared, I sent an e mail asking about my order, and it was shipped the next day. On the second order, I was a little bit anxious so I paid the credit card fee so I could get the order quicker (they advise a 2-3 day process). After seven days I sent an e mail asking about my order. Four days later it was shipped.

SD Bullion does have competitive prices and they do package their orders well (kind of what you expect from a business). There is no excuse for the lengthy delays after they get the money in their pocket. I am not sure if this is simply poor customer service or something more serious. There are other Bullion companies that do a better job of satisfying customers.

SD Bullion Response • Apr 10, 2018

Hello ***, thank you for doing business with SD Bullion. On your first order on 2/14, you purchased a product that was on pre-sale until 2/24. On pre-sale orders, the order does not ship until the pre-sale product has arrived at our vault. You would have seen a notification on that particular product when you ordered it that outlined this policy. This is the reason your first order did not ship out at your expected time frame. On your second order, you ordered a product that caused a lot of shipping issues with our company. We were having problems getting the manufacturer to fulfill orders given to them. All the major bullion dealers had to go on shipping delays with this product and then we had to actually take the item off sale on our website because of inconsistencies with the manufacturer. We should have done a better job at communicating these issues to you. However, we were running into issues because the manufacturer would tell us they were shipping us more product; which made us believe we'd be able to fulfill orders like yours. However, this was not the case. Even though the manufacturer would tell us daily they were shipping us more supply, it was a week and half and sometimes longer before they actually started shipping product to us. Obviously, none of this is your fault, but wanted to be transparent about what happened on your second order here. We appreciate you giving us a chance and hope you can over-look the error in the second order and know this is not a regular occurrence. Also, we'll be reaching out via email. Have a great day!

Excellent customer service always live staff available online and via phone calls and helpful with any questions I have, excellent delivery times, products and pricing.

cancelling an order
I ordered $500 Dollars worth of silver from SD Bullion on line, the next day I called to cancel the order, I was told that I would be charged $16. to my credit card, I said that I did not have my card with me, they said they don't keep card numbers on file, but 3 days later, the $16 dollars was removed from my account to SD Bullion. This is tactics of a company that is crooked, and is against most purchase laws in the U.S.A.
I would never purchase anything from this company.

Desired Outcome

Refund money taken from my that never should have been able to take.

SD Bullion Response • Mar 02, 2018

Mr.,

Thank you for contacting SD Bullion. We do apologize you had a misunderstanding with our company. Our records indicate you placed an order on our website on January 28, 2018; electing to pay with a paper check. Before you submitted an order on SDBullion.com, we require two things: 1 A valid credit card to put on file 2. The customer must click a button that says: "Yes! I have read and agreed to the purchase agreement terms, conditions, and order cancellation policy found here". An order will not go through if the user does not do these two things.

On the order screen, where you agree to the cancellation policy, there is a link that takes you directly to the policy. The policy is a straightforward policy that is standard by all major bullion dealers. It simply states: "All cancelled orders are subject to a cancellation fee consisting of any market loss to SD Bullion along with an additional 3% of total purchase price." And a few sentences later in the paragraph: "SD Bullion reserves the right to charge any valid credit card on file for applicable market loss and cancellation fees."

Our records indicate that you called back two days later on January 30, 2018 and notified one of our phone representatives that you wanted to cancel your order. After our phone representative calculated the cancellation penalties, our records indicate that you wanted to think it over.

On February 13, 2018, one of our representatives left you a voicemail to follow up on the payment for the order.

On February 15, 2018 one of our representatives left you another voicemail following up again and letting you know if the order was not paid for, then the order would be cancelled by default.

Our cancellation policy states "SD Bullion (Doc Investments LLC) reserves the right to cancel any order after 7 business days of non-payment for personal check orders,".

On February 16, 2018 (15 business days after the order was placed), our records indicate your order was cancelled for non-payment and cancellation fees collected from the card you put on file when you ordered on January 28, 2018.

Again, we apologize that there are cancellation penalties involved. But this is industry business practice standard for all major bullion dealers.

Honest folks with great products and fast shipping.

Great company to work with. I have been buying silver from them for the last two years. My one and only complaint isn't with the company but with the postal system. I have had orders arrive in as little as three days after ordering, then others take as long as 10 days. Not sure why that happens, but the company has always been timely as shipping out the silver.

Made my first purchase of gold bullion & I can tell you that their prices are the least expensive when compared to their competitors even if you have to pay a small shipping fee. Don't believe me?. Do the math.

I mailed in a check & I had to wait for the check to clear my bank which is understandable but they over night shipped the package (it took 24 hours & it was delivered signature required on a Saturday).

I will definitely buy from them gold bullion again plus when I called them, they never tried to sell me gold coins etc. where they would make a larger % over spot buy price.

Hopefully all my orders goes as smooth as this. Just remember to wait if you mail it a check & if you use your credit card, just about every bullion seller will charge you more because they have to pay the credit card about 3% transaction fee.

My shipment from SD Bullion is missing (4) 1oz Gold coins. I was told by SDBullion a FedEx claim was filed. FedEx told me no claim was filed.
11/16/2017: I placed online order #*** for (8) 1oz Gold American Eagle coins, (8) "air-tite" coin holders, (100) 1oz American Silver Eagle coins, and (5) empty silver eagle tubes.

11/16/2017: I called SD Bullion to confirm my order, and spoke with a female. I asked how the order would ship, and she said either US Postal or FedEx. I requested FedEx with signature required because it would seem odd to ship $12k in precious metals US Mail. She assured me all shipments are shipped fully insured.

11/16/201: I bank wired $12,496.16 to Bank of America routing # *** beneficiary DOC INVESTMENTS LLC, ***, *** beneficiary acct# *** for payment on order #***.

11/16/2017: I received email confirmation my bank wire was received by SD Bullion, and Inwould receive another email with tracking when my order shipped.

11/21/2017: I emailed SD Bullion requesting status of my shipment.

11/22/2017: *** responded by email on behalf of SD Bullion apologizing for longer than normal processing time due to "an extremely large volume of orders recently." She stated she would prioritize my order, and would send me tracking in 1-2 business days.

11/22/2017: I received an email from SD Bullion stating my order had shipped including FedEx tracking number.

11/27/2017: I receive a notification that delivery was attempted to my home, and FedEx would attempt delivery the following business day. Tracking indicates departure from shipper 11/24. 2 days after tracking was provided.

11/28/2018: I submit a request on *** to have my package held at the local FedEx located at ***, ***.

11/28/2017 late day: I call local FedEx office confirming package is ready for pick up. I picked up and signed for package at 5:42 pm. When I opened package at home that evening, it was missing (4) 1oz Gold coins and (4) "air-tite" coin cases.

11/28/2017 @10:00 pm central: I contacted SDBullion via online chat with ***. I send multiple photos of packaging showing the missing coins & cases requesting resolution. She says she'll "open a case" for me to review packing process and investigate (transcript available upon request). Says someone will be be in touch within 24-48 hours.

11/29/2017 @4pm central: I called SD Bullion spoke with *** who said a claim was started, and under review as he was speaking with me. He added they "would review the video tomorrow" and someone would respond then by no later than 5 pm Eastern time.

11/30/2017 @4pm central: I called again spoke w/*** who told me tape was still under review. I ask if he saw the photos I sent during chat w/***, and no photos were added to "investigation ticket." He assured me someone would call the following day by 5 pm Eastern time.

12/1/2017 @3:45pm central: I called asked to speak with manager. Spoke with *** who says CEO/Owner is involved and they are waiting to hear back from FedEx regarding claim. Assures me they will contact me Monday. I request he email me transcript of my initial chat with ***, and he does. I request he also email me directly so I can send higher resolution photos of packaging. He agrees to do so, but I didn't receive another email.

12/1/2017 @10pm: I call FedEx to ask if shipper SDBullion has contacted them for anything. I spoke with "***" who confirmed they have no record of being contacted by shipper, and no record of any claim. He was unable to tell me if SD Bullion shipped package insured or not.

12//1/2017 @ 10:45 pm: I file a complaint with the Revdex.com.

Desired Outcome

Immediately send me the missing (4) 1oz American Eagle gold coins each in 32mm air-title case as specified in order without further delay.
