I am rejecting this response because:We certainly understand the agreement that we signed. What I do not accept is that when my husband went in to terminate because our unit was empty, he was not allowed to do so. I work and was unable to come in before the next month's charge. When I came on the 1st of November, it was too late to terminate without being charged for the month of November. I did not dispute those charges, and in fact, was very much okay with that (even though I thought it wrong that my HUSBAND could not terminate our unit, even though I put his name on the account). I specifically stated that I did not want to take our lock off for the month of November because of the paragraph 2 stating that anything remaining in the unit would be deemed trash and we would have to pay for its removal and disposal. I stated that I was concerned about someone putting stuff in there that did not belong to us and asked if the lock could remain on through the duration of our contract (at that point, through December 5th). I also specifically asked if we had to come back because the unit was empty, we did not want the lock (that the business provided), and just wanted to be done. I was told not to worry - I did not need to come back and the lock would just be cut. I trusted the word of the employee working. I also asked the the unit be inspected to show that it was empty and I was again told not to worry, that they would check it at the end of the contract. There is nothing in the termination contract that states if we did NOT remove the lock that we would be charged additional months. Further, there is nothing stating in the termination contract that if our property remains we would be charged additional months. It says that anything that is our property remaining in the unit would be disposed of. That tells me that the lock would have been cut to inspect the unit on the termination date anyhow. Our unit was empty. If the lock is our property, by reading this contract, I would expect it to be disposed of.In response to not disputing December's charge, I agree that we did not because we had many expenses that month with Christmas and did not keep a close eye on the account. $110 coming out when we were spending money on Christmas was fairly inconsequential to our overall monthly expenditures. I noticed the charge upon balancing our expenses after the January charge. Regardless, I believe the fair and honest thing for this business to do, would be to refund the months of December and January as the unit was not occupied, I was told I did not need to return to remove the lock (verbally), and there is nothing stating in the termination contract that I would be charged additional months if the lock was not removed.
Sincerely,

Re: Claim #[redacted]In response to the customer’s complaint in regards of the $1 move in those storage units are for our 5x5 sizes only and the customer’s has a 10x15 storage unit that he rent’s. I have attached a copy to show that the customer rent that size of storage unit at that facility.I also...

have attached our OCCUPANTS NOTICE TO VACATE RENTAL AGREEMENT TERMINATION which states in paragraph two that I/we will UNLOCK THE UNIT and will have vacated the unit no later than 9:30am. As of the date 11-22-2016 the lock was still on the storage unit. With the lock still being on the storage unit we have no idea whether or not that the customer has vacated the storage unit because we can’t verify that the storage unit is empty.   I have also attached notes on all the times we have tried contacting the customer to resolve the issue.Secure It Self StorageJeremy T[redacted] District ManagerSecure It Self Storage

I am rejecting this response because: on October 13th I offered the keys to him, the site manager Wes, and he responded that I can keep the lock and keys. I told him that I didn't need anymore locks and offered the keys again and Wes said they did not need them. I thought that he meant they had a master key or something. I told him I was done and not going to use the unit. He did not offer to go check the unit and told me everything was done with the signing of the papers. I know what the contract says but I offered the keys and told him it was never occupied and told him he could rent it to someone else. He should have accepted the keys or escorted me out to take the lock off. It sounds like they call other people ahead of time to tell them their payment is due but they waited one day after to ask for lock off and payment.
Sincerely,

Revdex.com,I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.  Regards, [redacted]

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
When you rent a storage facility or an apartment on a month to month basis, it is implied that when you give proper notice that any month or month paid in advance will be returned if proper notice to vacate was given.  I talked to several different storage facilities about this matter and all said they had the same phrase in their contract BUT it would not be enforced the same way Secure-it self storage is enforcing theirs.  For instance, one storage facility said their NO REFUND policy was designed to protect them in this type in instance:  a space was rented for a month to hold furniture while apartment hunting but after 5 days the renter said they found a place and wanted the rest of their funds back.  Totally different situation than mine.  All the storage facilities said that the way Secure-it was enforcing their policy was unethical and immoral and might even be illegal.  This strategy is probably a big money maker for them because so many people pay multiple months so they don't forget to make the payment each month.  Remember, no matter what, IT IS ALWAYS ABOUT MONEY.Sincerely,[redacted]
