I want to cancel the "trial" free class. I want the company to confirm they will not charge me now or in future &stop emailing & sending notifications
I enrolled in 4 week trial free Web Development class ~ March 8, 2020. I was then requested to purchase "toolkit". You could not do anything without it. I decided to cancel on 3/29/20. On the website, I selected "cancel" option & I had to go thru 3-4 other webpages. At the end, it instructed me to call XXX-XXX-XXXX to confirm cancellation. After going thru another 3-4 options to cancel & confirm cancel, I was told to e-mail - ***@shawacademy.com. I did that & it instructed me to go online & cancel that way. That is a complete circle. See e-mail attachment. I want them to promise they will not bill me now or in the future. I want them to stop the notifications & e-mails for additional classes.
Desired Outcome
Confirmation of cancellation of class. Promise to not bill me now or in future. Stop sending notifications & e-mails.

I would like to cancel my complaint. After sending many e-mails back to Shaw Academy, they finally agreed to cancel my trial & I now see it cancelled in the application.
BTW - I still feel they are a slimy corporation. The hoops they make you go thru to cancel - very unethical.
I tried to cancel my subscription but instead was charged 29.95 pounds, also havent received yet confirmation of my cancellation.
I signed up for the 4-week free trial course in Graphic Design at 26/03/20. When I decided to to unsubscribe, not only I was charged 29.95 pounds for some extra toolkits by just clicking on my profile, but also based on user experiences I have found online I believe I am gonna keep being charged because apparently they have made the cancellation procedure quite complicated.
Desired Outcome
I want a full refund of my money and also acknowledgment that my subscription has been cancelled and therefore I am not gonna be further charged.

Unable to cancel subscription, money due to be taken out of my account against my wishes.
Signed up for free trial on 31/03/2020, sought to cancel subscription on the same day as I realised there was nothing meaningful I could do with the free version. There is no way to cancel the account and I have so far only received automated replies to my emails concerning cancellation.
Desired Outcome
Confirmation of cancellation and refund of any charges accrued in the process.
Attempted to cancel account online. They asked my 5 times if I wanted to then gave me a number to call that did the same. Still did not cancel account
on march 28th I signed up for shaw academy. due strange activity on my credit card I decided to cancel. I went online to cancel and was asked 5 times if wanted to cancel. they offered something each time. still, did not want it. then, after the fifth time they said I had to call. so I had to wait till monday to call, which I did. THEN, they did the exact same thing!! asked my 5 times over the phone with automated messages, only to say that I had to email them asking to cancel my account. so I did. still waiting on their response.
The company participates in deceptive business marketing. They advertise a FREE trial, but when you sign up, they require you to purchase services.
Upon agreeing to a FREE TRIAL, I was completely caught off guard that I would have to purchase two services upfront in order to participate in the FREE class. When I attempted to cancel, first I was not allowed, being told I had to wait 48 hours. After the 48 hour period, I attempted to cancel, and navigated 8 different screens to verify I wanted to cancel; only to receive a screen that I had to call in to cancel. When I called to cancel, I had to navigate 7 additional voice prompts and then was informed I had to email ***@shawacademy.com. The deceptive practices ad "bait and switch", and misdirection made for a very time consuming and negative experience.
Desired Outcome
Shaw Academy should explain upfront that there will be a charge for training materials and to receive your completion certificate. The current practice is very deceptive. In addition, the cancellation process should not take 30 minutes to complete.as they misdirect you from online responses to voice responses then back to email to complete the cancellation. Facebook needs to remove this deceptive advertisement.

Dear Student,
As per your request, we have cancelled your free trial membership. Please be assured you will not be charged way forward.
Shaw Academy makes it nearly impossible to cancel any type of membership once you have registered with them and given your payment information.
I had canceled my subscription through my account (twice), called the phone number I was prompted to call to complete the cancellation process, then was told via the recording at the number called to email an address to complete the cancellation process. I have clicked through my account 6-7 times, clicked through the phone recording 5-6 times, to ultimately receive another email address only to be told someone else was going to call me.
STAY AWAY - So far impossible to cancel membership (I had to call my CC company to block them). I signed up for a free trial and I am still struggling to cancel it. It's the nearest thing to a scam, here is what happens if you try and cancel your 7 day trial ahead of being charged: a) you can't do anything in the first 48hrs of signing up, the system won't let you cancel as 'your account is still being set up' b) after 48hrs, you try and cancel your account and after clicking through about 7-8 'are you sure you wanna cancel' dialog boxes, you are told to ring a number to cancel c) you ring the number. You can stay on the line or press 2 for a call back. If you stay on the line, it cuts off after 4-5 mins (tried several times, always same outcome). If you press 2, nothing happens, you are just kept on hold until it eventually cuts off.
Unfortunately I used PayPal and they refuse to refund the $59.99 charged.
I have at least 6 emails I sent requesting my trial be canceled.
I sent an email to Shawacademy as a matter of principle saying that they should delete my account and that I will report them. I got an automated email saying 'we want you to take your goals seriously, so just attend one class and all will be fine. If you don't, then contact us again'. So obviously these are all tactics to collect your first payment of $59.99 and then probably future ones too. This is unethical, dishonest and downright gangster-like business. They should be removed.
They are not being cooperative or holding integrity when it comes to their business. They are taking money out of my account continiously.
I cancelled my free trial 2 weeks before it ended and was recently charged $60. I reached out to customer service and was told that there was nothing they could do because I didn't cancel before the trial ended. I submitted proof showing that I cancelled and how they wanted to me to reactivate my account. I have been speaking with someone named Vadik who ensured me that he cancelled my account. I've checked twice and it's showing that my account is still active and I submitted proof of this as well to them. It says for cancellation you have to call the number XXX-XXX-XXXX to confirm cancellation and once you call its a lady on an answering service and you have to press 4 different numbers all for you to reach the end of the call and the lady says to email them for your cancellation. I am initiating a chargeback with my bank today because they are refusing to refund my money to me! I have attached supporting documentation. They are being VERY dismissive and instead of refunding an unauthorized payment, they are trying to entice me with free courses I have checked my account and they took the payment out TWICE. This is HORRIBLE business practice!
Desired Outcome
I would like a full refund as well as them to be shut down for practicing fraud.

We're sorry to hear of your less than satisfactory experience with Shaw Academy. But we would like to address your reference to the word "fraud", as this is something that we take incredibly seriously. We have at no point taken payments from you, or any of the 5 million students we have educated unless the student entered their payment details to a secure payment page and manually completed the transaction. In every one of our emails, landing pages, offer banners and indeed the payment page itself, we do outline that the offer presented to you was a one-month free trial which would run automatically into a monthly recurring payment if not cancelled. You can also contact us directly at ***@shawacademy.com for further assistance related to refund.
I signed up for a free trial and wasn't into it. You have to commit to a certain time slot to take the classes, defeating the purpose of flexible online learning. In addition, the classes aren't great and the actual website is scant.
BEWARE! Canceling is an arduous process. You have to call their customer support number only to sit through 10 minutes of automated menu items while a voice recording encourages you "not to give up on your goals" and offers discounts. This company will not complete my request of cancelling the subscription I have purchased.
I have been contacting Shaw academy this whole month about cancelling the subscription I have with them. I have called several times and never speak to a representative, I wait on the line and it eventually hangs up. I have also emailed the company support team several times and tried to cancel my subscription as well. It seems that no one is monitoring or responding to this issue. I just want to cancel my subscription and have been trying to do so since March 13. I have been trying to do this so I will not be charged in April for a subscription I no longer want or use.
Desired Outcome
I would like to cancel my subscription to Shaw Academy.

Hello,
Shaw Academy has reached out to me and fixed my issue.
Billing Charges on Free Trial and Unethical Un-Subscription Practices
I was charged 0.50c 3 times upon registering for a FREE trial with ShawAcademy. The reason I signed up was to avail of the free trial in these uncertain times after losing my job.
However all I found was 3 undisclosed charges in my account and while I am sure they are a reputable educator their practices for keeping subscribers are not.
I went through the unsub process on their website through various pages of different offers to keep me subscribed, eventually it told me to call the local number (ok annoying but I obliged). I called the number and was offered multiple more packages over the phone by the answering machine, after declining them all it told me to email them and I now have an open ticket with them. It should not be this difficult and require so many methods to cancel a subscription.
It is unethical.

After severe difficulty I managed to get my account cancelled.
To cancel a subscription, you must go through 3 menus on the website, call, then through 5 prompts on a telephone system. Then you must send an email.
This company has an unsavory practice in regards to the cancellation of your subscription. To cancel your Shaw Academy subscription, and navigating from the account portion of the website, you have to go through 3 different menus with different links. Once you get to the final page, you are provided a phone number to call. The phone number you call is a typical phone tag situation that states on 4 separate occasions to press a number to cancel. When the number is pressed, it gives another automated message that MUST be listened to (if you press a number, it starts the message again) before continuing. After reaching the 5th message on the phone line, you are provided an email to cancel.
This is completely unacceptable. That, coupled with the measly selection of courses and the low quality content provided is enough to easily boycott this website. Do not give your business to this company.
Desired Outcome
I would like the company to create a process to easily unsubscribe.

I requested the cancellation with the window, they did not comply, causing me to become charges. On 28th of march I signed up for a free demo of a course on Shaw Academy. They charged me 24.95 for a diploma I never requested.
On 28th of March I signed up for a photography course on Shaw Academy with my mailadress ***@***.eu that was advertised to me on Facebook. It said that you can sign up for a free demo month and afterwards it would continue to charge you monthly if you do not cancel. It also said you could cancel at any time. Right after setting up my account and entering my credit card payment details, I got a notification on my phone from my bank that I was charged 24.95. At this point I did not even access the course yet. I checked the website and it stated that I purchased a certificate for some kind of module of the course. During the registration process this was nowhere mentioned to me. It was always stated that the course would be free for the first month and you would not be charged anything if you cancel in time. I contacted them to clear up the situation but they insisted that I would have clicked on a "One-click purchase" button that issued the purchase and that they would not provide any refunds for that. Instead they claimed that they now upgraded my account for services worth 599$ out of courtesy. I respectfully declined and told them that I just want my money back that was charged to my card fraudulently as I do not feel comfortable staying with a company that makes such charges out of nowhere. At this time I also tried to cancel my account but when I tried to do so with the option provided on the page a popup showed up that said that you can not cancel your account at this time (even though they clearly stated everywhere that you could at any time). After customer service refused to acknowledge my request for the third time and instead told me to "further pursue my goals" and stay with them I told them that I am demanding my refund for the last time before I am reporting them to the Revdex.com and the ECC Net. Their response was to close my support ticket. Now I finally had the option to cancel my account (it takes you through 5 pages that try to persuade you to stay). I had to go through this process 3x times before it finally stated on my account that it is "Non-renewing". I am still worried though since I never got any mail confirmation or anything that my account was closed and research on the internet shows that it is essentially their business to rip of customers. As can be seen here: https://www.trustpilot.com/review/shawacademy.com
They try to cover up a lot as quickly as possible by reporting every negative review they get but it can clearly be seen that a lot of customers are being affected by their shady business. And it can also be seen that a lot of customers seem to still get charged even after their cancellation.
I attached a receipt of their charge that I was able to retrieve from their site below.
Desired Outcome
I demand that this unauthorized charge of 24.95 is being refunded to my card, as i never made this purchase that they are claiming.

As long as Shaw Academy follows through and completes the refund, I will Conclude this as resolved. If they do not, I will reopen this case, and advise others who I have spoken with do the same.
Shaw Academy will not allow me to cancel my "free trial" and I do not want to be charged for their service as I have tried to cancel it.
At the end of the trial, I will be charged 69.99 every month, and I am trying to cancel my trial before that happens. They have not made this process clear and I cannot get them to cancel.
Cancel and do not charge. Confirm cancellation and delete my account.

I demand that this unauthorized charge of 24.95 is being refunded to my card, as i never made this purchase that they are claiming.
I received a refund by the business today. So this complaint can be closed. Thank you for your help!
I honestly enjoyed my first lesson on Shaw academy. During my lesson my internet subscription got finished and I was shocked I wouldn't be able to continue the lesson once I subscribed. But to my honest surprise all I had to do was refresh the page and continue with my class.
Thanks Shaw academy, you guys are great
STAY AWAY - So far impossible to cancel membership (I had to call my CC company to block them).
I signed up for a free trial and I am still struggling to cancel it. It's the nearest thing to a scam, here is what happens if you try and cancel your 7 day trial ahead of being charged:
a) you can't do anything in the first 48hrs of signing up, the system won't let you cancel as 'your account is still being set up'
b) after 48hrs, you try and cancel your account and after clicking through about 7-8 'are you sure you wanna cancel' dialog boxes, you are told to ring a number to cancel
c) you ring the number. You can stay on the line or press 2 for a call back. If you stay on the line, it cuts off after 4-5 mins (tried several times, always same outcome). If you press 2, nothing happens, you are just kept on hold until it eventually cuts off.
I called my Amex and blocked payments to them. Amex informed me that they had charged me $0.50 in the meantime. A small amount, but an unauthorized charge nonetheless.
First lesson was great, I?m ready for more. It would have been helpful to have a checklist on everything we need for the class.
Class is very informative and help is offered when needed. App is easy to use and works well on mobile devices.
Very informative content. Great for folks who are looking to switch careers or even just build a skill. The instructors are knowledgeable and they seem to really care.
Lesson one has shown me alot about leadership can't wait until the next one
