Survey Sampling International Reviews (126)

Review: A little over a week ago, I had emailed a complaint to the OpinionOutpost helpdesk stating that my account had been "frozen due to data concerns" for no apparent reason. Upon further research, apparently I had "violated" the terms and conditions. The OO helpdesk responded to my email asking for account validation and I promptly sent them the information. However, I have been waiting long enough for a response from the "24/7" customer service. There is still no solid evidence about why I violated the terms and conditions, and if I even violated them at all. I complied with all the terms upon creating my account and in completing the surveys and I sent them proper information for validating my account (which I had no reason to because I strongly believe that I did not violate anything) and this process should take at most 2 days. I was contacting the helpdesk with the SAME email I had on the OpinionOutpost account ([redacted]) so I found it to be COMPLETELY unnecessary to have to re-identify who I was. I had redeemed a $5 [redacted] gift card in the past with the Opinion points, yet it seems that once I was close to accumulating $15 worth of points, my account was unexpectedly frozen! I had spent COUNTLESS HOURS accumulating the incentive and OO has no right to deny me the funds based on an unsupported claim. I have read reviews and other complaints about this very same issue and I would like OpinionOutpost and SSI to see what kind of inconvenience they are causing because accounts are being terminated without reasonable justification!

-------------------------

[redacted]Desired Settlement: I would like AT THE MINIMUM my account reinstated immediately and my funds transferred to my email ([redacted]) in the form of a $15 [redacted] gift card as soon as possible. I would like my funds ROUNDED UP to $15 for ease of sending the gift card and for the inconvenience I had encountered (since I believe I was only 6 points/60 cents away from $15).

Review: Lack of communication when it comes to paying its panelists for the work they put in the surveys [redacted] Okay this is really ridiculous and I am reprting this to you because it has not been resolved. Now I am dealing with this with surveys [redacted] (business communications) and [redacted] about smartphones. I am now missing 22 points which is an equivalent of ($2.20) because they do not want to credit the points for some reason. They have a phone number but when you call them they do not answer, but they take the time to call you because they want to try to suspiciously close the accounts. I have no choice but to have you implore them to resolve this matterDesired Settlement: I am asking for a proper credit of 22 points ($2.20) to be credited on my account associated with the email [redacted]

Review: I have been a panel member of Opinion Outpost which is administered by Sampling Survey International, since 2009. As a panel member I get to fill out surveys and after accumulating enough points you can redeem them for a reward of your choice. Initially when I started, there was no problem with redeeming points or changing your password. During the last year I requested a change of password so as to be able to redeem my points and I received no response. I have also been trying to change my login and email address and I finally got a response from a [redacted] (Ticket#2[redacted]020714) on April 15th. The response was not to address my issue but to give me a run around. The telephone number for customer service is a joke. Nobody responds to it no matter how many times you leave a message. I have accumulated enough points and I want to redeem my points and be done with Sampling Survey International/Opinion Outpost.Desired Settlement: I would like to redeem my accumulated points.

Review: I am a retiree on a small pension and I depend on extra income from surveys I take on-line. One of the survey companies I am a member of is Survey Spot (Survey Sampling International). SSI offers cash incentives for members who complete their clients' surveys. Over the past few weeks, I have completed several surveys for which I have not received the promised cash incentive, totaling approximately $25.Desired Settlement: I request that SSI credit my account in the amount of $25.

Review: I became a member of this Company during the month april,2015. I did surveys for points which to be used for money, 100 points is $10.00 us dollars. I was being paid when I first begun, then at some point this company froze my account. this is what there answer to why(( Our security system has flagged your account because you were caught giving bad and/or irrelevant responses in surveys you participated in. This is one of the items we monitor, to help us determine the quality of data returned on each survey. Our Fraud Team considered this offense severe enough that we can no longer reactivate your account. Please review our Terms and Conditions.))) I do not understand how this was possible because I did as each survey requested.Desired Settlement: I would either like my account restored because no where did this Company show proof I violated any terms of our agreement. I feel they did this so they would not have to pay me for surveys I had completed. This Company owes me about 500 points which = $50.00 . and I want my account restored.

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because:

the business is not being truthful with regard to what I am owed in points, the business owes me 300 points and I want to be paid . You can also let the business know that I plan to file a complaint to [redacted] in their state for the company survey sampling inc. used my personal information to other survey companies, this violated my agreement with [redacted] that they would not use my personal information to any other company. Since I have been signed up with [redacted] I have been receiving spam emails alone with other survey companies that have my personal information and it only could have come from [redacted] since they are the only survey company I have ever used.

Review: I do surveys for this company, or did, anyways. When I complained that they were lying to us, telling us surveys are so long, when, in reality, they were far longer, sometimes even more than double, something they charge their clients for and tell their clients they are paying us for. The one subsidiary, SurveySpot.com, is especially bad about this and pay really badly. Since they were so bad, I closed that account. Then they, Survey Sampling. closed my other account with another subsidiary of theirs, [redacted].com, while owing me $4.50!! I want what I have earned from them!! I am also filing a claim with the dept of labor, as they aren't paying me what I have earned "working" for them!!They tried telling me one excuse "we have our folks do the survey and we use an average". When I pointed out that a 6 minute survey, that includes a video that, alone, took 612 seconds, or over 6 minutes, so it was impossible to have an average 6 min completion time. They then said that the original survey wasn't available so I was redirected, yet the survey # record never indicated that. You can also let them know I am filing a complaint with the FCC and FTC as well!Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

I want to be paid for what I have done and I want my account with Opinion Outpost reopened immediately! I only requested, and closed, my account with Survey Spot!!

Review: This business runs an online survey site called Opinion Outpost. Seems like every time I get on the site, I waste my time going through surveys that are listed, but then claim they are full after asking 20-25 questions, or have some technical error. I have repeatedly contacted Opinion Outpost about this and while they have rewarded me a few points in cases, the overall issue still has not changed, even after reporting them to the Revdex.com once before. I'm not sure what the major problem is, just wish this company would get its act together and offer surveys that actually work and can be taken as I assume that is the whole purpose of the business? Why waste peoples time making them wade through dozens of surveys that claim they are full, don't work or kick the taker out after asking several questions? That is just insulting, annoying and rude.

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: No settlement requested - for

I WOULD like to know if this matter was even investigated by the Revdex.com as this is the second time reporting this site. Just tired of the constant hassles I run into which I don't get from any other similar survey site.

Our Respondent Support Team has done what they can in their power to appease [redacted] whenever he contacts customer support with his survey concerns/complaints. The general complaints on late screen outs and quota shutdowns are actually being looked into. We are aiming at reducing these cases this rest of the year and moving forward. But this is yet a work in progress, which we are definitely looking forward to accomplishing. If Mr. [redacted] is no longer pleased with our survey site and the surveys we have to offer, he may choose to cash out his remaining points and close his membership account.

Consumer Response /* (3000, 8, 2013/08/16) */

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT ACCEPT the response from the business.)

Never asked for a settlement to begin with, but have to say the reply is about what I expected from Opinion Outpost. On one hand they claim to be working on aproving the site, while on the other basically telling me if I don't like it, then get lost. Fact of the matter is I've been a member of this site for some time and just seen it run downhill. Even today I got on the site and had the same issues of surveys claiming they are full after asking several questions, going to some link that keeps saying it's searching for a survey which it never finds, or flat out says I don't qualify without asking a single thing. The site claims this is do to 'pre-screening questions' which makes me wonder why they bother having members fill out a full profile if that's all they are going to use to decide if I qualify for a survey. I'm just sick of getting on this site and having to wade through 8-10 surveys like that to find the one or two I can actually complete. No other survey site I belong to has issues like this. I trust Opinion Outpost DOES improve, or I will just report them time and again.

Review: After reviewing numemerous review websites, both good and bad reviews, and even speaking to them twice, I decided to give it a shot. I was told by 2 customer service reps that cashout was immediate if the [redacted] account was verified. Now, I have been told that it is 48-72 business hours. I would like my rewards transferred to my account now. I will not take anymore surveys until I can confirm myself that this website is not a scam.Desired Settlement: I would like the $10 sent to my [redacted] account immediately, as agreed.Thanks.

I have been trying to contact them since the above date but have been unsuccessful, I have left messages with them about 4 times, I have left my email address and my cell number with a message also telling them what the problem was. every time I would call I would get cut off or sent to voice mail. all I want is to cash out but it will not allow me to, I never had this problem before.Desired Settlement: I just want to be able to contact them when needed and I would like to be able to cash out with no problem, that is all I'm asking for.

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2013/05/02) */

To whom this may concern:

We see that [redacted]'s Opinion Outpost and SurveySpot panel accounts are fairly new. These SSI panels do offer points for surveys the panel member is invited to. But these points can only be credited if their participation status is captured as a valid complete (for the "Completed" survey participation status). Looking at her Survey History, we can see she doesn't actively participate in the surveys offered to her. In order to ensure she qualifies for surveys to complete, we recommend that she reviews all her profile data on both panel accounts. We also encourage her to ensure the data she provides in each survey matches what we have in record based on her profile data. Should she ever feel the need to verify her participation status for a survey she participated in, she can send a request to the respective helpdesk team.

Thank you.

I don't feel that I fall in to any of those categories - I do answer some of the initial prequalification questions quickly, just because I am so used to them that I know what I'm doing, and have a fast connection, but have never "sped" through a survey, nor would I have more than one account. Review: My account on [redacted]t (**) was deactivated due to "Data Concerns". I emailed the ** Helpdesk asking for an explanation and received a response stating your account is linked to more than two accounts. I emailed the help desk that I was not aware of committing any such violation and asked that the matter be further considered. I also called Customer Service (many times); finally I reached [redacted] who, while being polite enough, gave me answers which told me nothing. I pushed her for more information--ANY information--and when she saw how upset I was getting (I thought my account was hacked) she asked me if I knew a [redacted] or "[redacted]. I said I did not, but that if [redacted] or [redacted] somehow attached themselves to my account, ** could kill the [redacted] or [redacted] accounts with my blessing! A couple of days later I was notified Unfortunately, because you violated the terms and conditions you agreed to when signing up, our Fraud Team has made the final decision to permanently deactivate your account along with your point balance with no explanation as to what the actual violation entailed. When I signed up for **, I read the rules which stated that there can be no more than two accounts per household. Apparently this is the rule I am accused of having violated. But I have only one [redacted] account, period. I have only ONE home address on [redacted] I have only ONE e-mail address on [redacted] and I have only ONE name on [redacted]. I am in compliance with the rules and see no legitimate reason why I should have been deactivated. This is not the way a business rated A+ by the Revdex.com should behave.Desired Settlement: I want my [redacted] account completely reinstated including the points (which would eventually translate into the money I earned prior to deactivation) which were in the account. I want my reinstatement done promptly and I request that the Revdex.com keep this complaint open until this matter is completely resolved.

ATTN: [redacted]

For the purposes of this message, [redacted] and [redacted] are both owned by Survey Sampling International or SSI. As you later found out through one of our helpdesk representatives, your [redacted] membership was immediately terminated because we caught multiple [redacted] accounts in your household--a serious violation of our Terms and Conditions, which you agreed to abide by or comply with upon registration. Although these are 2 separate websites, they are both managed by the same company and stand by the same set of Terms and Conditions--the very same set you agreed to upon signing up for your [redacted] account. Whether the accounts were created intentionally or by accident, we cannot reconsider your case and will not be able to reactivate any of your survey accounts nor pay you out of the system whatever point balance you had prior to termination. Once our Terms and Conditions are violated, the decision to terminate all SSI survey accounts is final. In line with this, you, anyone in your household, or anyone linked to you (e.g. family members), are completely prohibited from creating any survey accounts with SSI and participating in our surveys.

Section 5.5 of our Terms and Conditions: "You agree not to open, use, or maintain more than one (1) membership account within the Panel."

Section 19 of our Terms and Conditions: "SSI may, without notice, suspend or terminate a Panel member’s account(s) if such member breaches, violates, or otherwise fails to abide by, or comply with, these Terms. Panel members hereby agree that the suspension of a membership account(s) shall not prohibit or restrict SSI from subsequently terminating such membership account(s). In the event SSI terminates a Panel member’s account(s), SSI reserves the right to: (i) prohibit the Panel member from re-registering with the Panel; (ii) prohibit or restrict the Panel member’s ability to participate in any Survey(s); and (iii) pursue any and all other remedies available to SSI."

Response:

Review: [redacted]

I am rejecting this response because: I do not believe that not paying me for surveys I already completed is enforceable, even though it is in the contract. If it was enforceable what is to stop SSI (or any other company) from burying a statement such as "if you violate this contract you must sign over the deed to your home?" in a mumble jumble of legalise? At a minimum I want to be paid for the surveys they owe me for---where they have my answers and I have nothing. If SSI insists that they do not have to pay me then I request from the Revdex.com (not SSI) 1. whom (government agency?) I can contact to find out if not paying me for surveys completed is legally enforceable (I am NOT insterested in SSI's answer) and 2. what steps I need to take to knock down SSI's "A+" rating---by having the nerve to act as they are acting "ie, we consider the matter closed" they have NOT earned the right to an "A+" rating. Revdex.com need not take my word for this---go to the Survey Police website and you will see that with all the complaints against OO and SSI, they are only rated a "B" (4 out of 5).

As I said in an earlier e-mail, I am asking Revdex.com to keep this open until it is resolved in a FAIR way (which is not what SSI is doing especially by not paying me for work--surveys- completed) and also to have a public record of their unfair business practices (ie., if you violate one survey you are kicked out of ALL the surveys).

Sincerely,

Review: Sampling Survey International runs an outfit called Opinion Outpost which sends surveys to its panel members. The panel members accrue points which they can redeem for cash , donation or Amazon gift cards. I have been a panel member for Opinion Outpost since 2009. When I joined Opinion Outpost they were very prompt and efficient in responding to panel members' concerns or questions. However, since the beginning of 2012 I have sent them numerous requests to be able to redeem my points and they have not responded yet they send me surveys without fail. It seems as if they have blocked me from being able to redeem my points. My request to them is to be allowed to change my password so I can redeem my points. I lived up to my end of the bargain. Why are they not living up to their end of the bargain. I want to redeem my points and if they have decided that they do not want me on the panel fine. Just let me get my due.Desired Settlement: Survey Sampling International direct Opinion Outpost to unblock my access to the points I have accumulated. I want Opinion Outpost to allow me to redeem my points which I have earned.

Review: I have repeatedly sent emails for assistance , tried calling their phone number on their website that doesn't work but to no avail .The last time I received assistance , a week ago the response they gave me did not help solve my issue and I tried replying to their email that the issue wasn't resolved and they have ignored my concerns. Since last Tuesday I have been trying to tale surveys whether on their website or through email invitations and as soon as I click take a survey I get "unable to record participation" I haven't even participated yet!! The customer service rep suggested I wait 24 hours clear cookies and cache and log in again and try again but that didn't work so hence my dilemma its been a week with no help . my account isn't locked and Im aware of their policies and have not violated anything so why this glitch on my account that is not allowing me to support my family through taking their surveys .Desired Settlement: please look into the account and fix the glitch on my account

Review: Through the [redacted] partnernship with [redacted], this company sends e-mails that promise X miles for X minutes or participation in survey. E-mails contain a link to "Take this survey now" & "Participate now by clicking here".

After clicking the link, you are not taken to the survey. Instead you are taken to a pre-survey questionnaire to determine eligibility for the survey. In two cases, I did not qualify for the advertised survey, but instead was offered a different survey with fewer miles for more participation time.

The e-mail makes it seem that you are already qualified for the survey. Nowhere in the e-mail does it talk about the need to qualify for the survey via a pre-survey questionnaire. This strikes me as an example of deceptive advertising / "bait and switch"Desired Settlement: 1. Change the e-mails so that they are not deceptive. For example replace "Participate now by clicking here" with "See if qualify now by clicking here"

2. Credit customers, or at least me, with the mileage advertised in the two surveys that I attempted to take.

To whom this may concern:

It is true that we email survey invitations to all our survey panel members. It's a common practice; however, please note that receiving a survey invitation doesn't mean the panel member is sure to qualify for the survey. Our panel members are required to go through a set of gateway questions to determine their qualification to participate in the survey they were invited to. If found not qualified, our system then offers them a different survey to participate in (if available at the moment) with a different reward offer and survey length. Apart from accessing surveys through email invitation, our members have the option to access survey opportunities via the "Take a Survey" button on their account. Same case, they will need to answer the gateway questions first in order to determine their qualification before being directed to a survey. To help our panel members increase their chances of qualifying for a survey, we ask them to get profiled by filling out the profiles on their account. Of course, it is normal not to qualify for all surveys you are invited to or access even when you've already filled out your profiles. It is standard that surveys have different targets or quotas to fill and not everyone that is invited to or participates in a survey are sure to qualify and complete it. Our panel members are only rewarded for their participation if they are captured as valid completes. Otherwise, they do not receive the reward offered.

Review: My account was frozen by [redacted] from claims I had more than 2 accounts in my household which is incorrect.

I started using [redacted] in early January 2015. I completed surveys and also an hour long assignment for which I was to be compensated $30 through [redacted]. When I asked if my husband could join also I was told by [redacted] customer service "yes". He created his account so our household then had 2 accounts. We immediately started having some issues on their site and within one week both of our accounts were frozen. When I wrote into [redacted] looking for help I was informed we had more than 2 accounts in our household. I informed them we did not but they insisted we did. Done deal, accounts remain frozen and my rewards were wiped out. I legitimately did the work for the $30 assignment and about $5 worth of surveys and would never knowingly be dishonest with breaking the rules of their site. If there is another account somehow tied to our household or address is it even being used? Why is it tied to us? How could we have known this beforehand to not be taken advantage of? I do not appreciate there being no understanding and I certainly do not appreciate my earnings not being paid.Desired Settlement: At a very minimum, the $30 I earned from my hour assignment through the site. Having my account or my husband's account reactivated would be appreciated as well as we knowingly did NOTHING to break any terms or conditions of the site.
