Have been trying for two hours to cancel a subscription to ** Magazine. The automatic prompt system "pretends" not to understand and keeps circling round and round. There is NO POSSIBILITY of any human interaction.
The people at ** Magazine deny any responsibility. Shocking!!
Why this company has a high Revdex.com rating is beyond me. Just look at the number of complaints!

Review: I was offered several issues with [redacted] last year for a small amount ($2-$7) by a third-party seller and was assured that no automatic subscriptions would take place. After the said issues were delivered, however, I was billed a whole year despite those assurances (over the phone).

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

The amount is $25.50 and I would like a full refund.

This company charged my credit card account the first week of June for subscriptions to two different magazines. When I called to ask about it, Andrea confirmed that it was for "continuous service". . .Andrea told me that the "new" subscription period would end May 2016. My current subscription does not end until August 2015. . .meaning that I am double-billed for June, July and August of 2015. . . I cancelled the subscriptions, but was charged for 1 magazine for each subscription "since the publisher has already mailed the magazine(s) to me". . ..wrong! I have not yet received the September issues. . . a subsequent call resulted in a FULL REFUND. . .BEWARE of this company!!!!

Review: I was billed for magazine subscriptions that I did not authorize. AMEX cancelled two of the charges this year, but I found charges in 2012 and2011!I want to file this claim, and also recover the charges from "12 & '11.One of the charges I called the mag and cancelled it, and I was charged anyway. There are other complaints about this company on line as well.

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

I want refunded 2 charges in 2012 for $37 and $33, and one charge of $32 in 2011.Also, I want the Atty Gen of CT to look into this company for similar activities and shut them down!

Review: We received a free subscription offer, tried to cancel it after the trial period, and continue to be billed and have the money directly deducted from our checking account. Review: I requested five magazines on an after purchase bonus site. I paid $2.00 for one year of each. They would notify me via email when the subscription was ready for renewal. I checked my credit card. There I found charges totaling $143.00. I called the customer service line (automated). I agreed to an immediate refund of billed charges if I would renew for an additional year for $2.00. I did receive one refund of $29.50 for a $33.00 bill and was then charged postage and handling of $1.00 in addition to the $2.00 charge.

I have not received a refund for any additional magazines. At this point I just want to cancel everything. It is not possible to talk to someone through the customer service number.Desired Settlement: That they cancel all subscriptions with their company.

Minor daughter was signed up for magazines at [redacted]. She received a notice and called the 1-800 number to cancel them before the deadline, however kept receiving the magazines and her debit card was charged for the magazines. I am tired of stores that I trust my children to shop at allowing them to be ripped off with these magazine scams--of swhich you can never talk to an actual person--only a voice menu. I also cant believe this company has an A+ rating with the Revdex.com! I want the money charged to my daughter's debit card returned. Review: This company is involved in fraud. Their scam is sending various magazines to my office every month ever since December, 2011. I have never been billed by them, however, on two occassions they called me stating I owed them over $2,000. The first time I argued that I never ordered any magazines but in good faith I settled with them for $400 and asked them to cancel my order. The second time they called (about 8 months later)stating I owed over $2,000. I was irate! I told them I would not pay anything, that I previously settled with them and that I had cancelled the subscription (which I haD NEVER MADE IN THE FIRST PLACE). after I screamed at them to sue me, they said that they would write the bill off and that I would never receive any further magazines. Unfortunately, this did not happen. Magazines continue to come to my office without bills and last week someone called stating I owed them $2,700. I used profanities at them and they yelled back saying they would sue me. Today I saw a charge on my credit card for Better Home magazine. I stopped payment but you need to get involved and put this company out of business. I do not know how they got my credit card number but I am working with my bank to assure no future charges will be honored. Please help me and all the others who are similarly being scammed (see internet at "TWX Magazine". thank you and call me at 213-401-5724 for further information.

Review: They charged my account without my consent and would not refund the money.

Their system was completely automated on the phone and would not give me the chance to get my $16.00 back for a [redacted] magazine subscription. The computer just kept trying to get me to order more magazines and would not give me the option to cancel. I was not told when I first order this magazine a year ago that my bank would automatically be billed for a full price renewal. When I tried to speak to a real person I was just put on hold forever. I cancelled future billings but the machine would not give me the option to get the current charge of $16.00 reversed. The automated system was talking fast and was hard to understand. I think that was deliberate in order to keep people from cancelling. It just kept me going around in circles for over 30 minutes! I want my $16.00 back!Desired Settlement: I want the $16.00 charge on my bank account that was charged on July the 8th refunded.

Re: Complaint Case #: XXXXXXXX

Consumer: [redacted]

Dear Ms. [redacted]

I write in response to the inquiry registered with your office by consumer [redacted]. We genuinely regret the inconvenience that Mr. [redacted] experienced regarding his magazine subscriptions, and have attempted to resolve his concerns.

Our records show that Mr. [redacted] placed an order for [redacted] and [redacted], when he accepted our promotional offer, which was presented by [redacted] after he had completed a survey following an online purchase. This offer allowed him to receive the first term of his magazine selections for a nominal fee of $2.00 for each subscription. The offer provided that his subscriptions would automatically continue following the initial term and that the same credit card would be charged if he did not call us to cancel. In addition, it is our policy that customers who wish to cancel may do so at any time by calling our toll-free customer service number, which is provided on our renewal notice and also on the customer's billing statement with each charge.

When we did not hear from Mr. [redacted] that he wished to cancel his subscriptions at the end of his first term, the annual subscription charges were posted to his account. On July 5, 2013, Mr. [redacted] contacted our automated customer service line and cancelled his subscription to [redacted], generating a full refund in the amount of $15.50 to his account.

On July 8, 2013, Mr. [redacted] contacted our automated customer service line and placed his subscriptions to [redacted] and [redacted] on "do not renew" status. This would allow him to continue receiving the remaining issues in his current term, however, at the end of his term the subscriptions would not renew, nor would he be charged a renewal fee.

On July 8, 2013, Mr. [redacted] contacted our service center via our online website and requested to cancel his subscriptions to [redacted] and [redacted]. His request was honored and a refund in the amount of $16.00 was issued to his account. It should be noted that banks direct us to ask customers to allow one to two billing statements for written confirmation of the refund to appear, depending on their billing cycle.

Mr. [redacted] can be assured that his subscription has been cancelled. Also, Mr. [redacted] may continue to receive one or two more issues of his magazines since they were in process at the time of cancellation. He may keep these with our compliments.

We regret that Mr. [redacted] experienced any difficulty using our automated customer service system. The system was designed to provide customers with the most efficient means possible for addressing various concerns regarding their orders.

Please be assured that customer satisfaction is very important to us and we take great care in providing our customers with the highest level of service. If I can be of any further assistance in this matter, please contact me at (XXX) XXX-XXXX.

Sincerely yours,

Manager, Customer Service

Re: Complaint Case #: XXXXXXXX

Consumer: [redacted]

Dear Ms. [redacted]:

I write in response to the inquiry registered with your office by consumer [redacted]. We genuinely regret the inconvenience that Ms. [redacted] experienced regarding her magazine subscriptions, and have attempted to resolve her concerns.

Our records indicate that Ms. [redacted] placed an order for [redacted] and [redacted], when she accepted our promotional offer after making a purchase at a [redacted] store. The offer allowed her to choose up to three titles from a selection of magazines and receive the first 60 days of a 14-month subscription without charge. After the trial period, her subscriptions would continue automatically and be charged semi-annually to the same credit card used for her [redacted] transaction, unless she called our toll-free customer service number to cancel. [redacted] sales associates are instructed to inform customers of the terms of the offer and provide them with a copy of the brochure to keep. Customers are also informed that the credit or debit card provided for their purchase will be forwarded to us for processing the magazine orders.

Upon receipt of your correspondence, on April 25, 2013, we cancelled Ms. [redacted]'s subscriptions to [redacted] and [redacted]. Ms. [redacted] was not charged for her subscriptions.

Ms. [redacted] can be assured that her subscriptions have been cancelled and her account has not been charged. Also, Ms. [redacted] may continue to receive one or two more issues of her magazine since they were in process at the time of cancellation. She may keep these with our compliments.

Please be assured that customer satisfaction is very important to us and we take great care in providing our customers with the highest level of service. If I can be of any further assistance in this matter, please contact me at ([redacted]) XXX-XXXX.

Sincerely yours,

Manager, Customer Service

I just finished cancelling four magazine subscriptions that I did not agree to purchase for a total of $145. No one in their right mind pays that for magazine subscriptions. The other reviews are right on when they say that the horrendous recorded customer service department is terrible and confusing. This company is dishonest and trying to scam people. They don's have a real person to talk to because no real person would have the job of ripping people off. I have contacted my bank and if the charges are not removed, I plan to take more aggressive action. I never received any notice about these subscriptions or an opportunity to cancel them. My advice is to not say yes to any magazine offers unless it is through the company that publishes the magazine.

These people are scam artists. I cancelled my magazine order almost a year ago and they charged me again!!!! I had to go in and cancel things again! I'm going to have to change my card now and cancel my old one so these [redacted] cant charge me again.
