Re: Complaint Case #: XXXXXXXX

Consumer: [redacted]

Dear Ms. [redacted]

I write in response to the inquiry registered with your office by consumer [redacted]. We genuinely regret the inconvenience that Ms. [redacted] experienced regarding her magazine subscriptions, and have attempted to resolve her concerns.

Our records show that we received an order in the name of [redacted] for [redacted] and [redacted], when she accepted our promotional offer after making a purchase at a [redacted] store. The offer allowed her to choose up to three titles from a selection of magazines and receive the first 60 days of a 14-month subscription without charge. After the trial period, her subscriptions would continue automatically and be charged semi-annually to the same credit card used for her [redacted] transaction, unless she called our toll-free customer service number to cancel. [redacted] sales associates are instructed to inform customers of the terms of the offer and provide them with a copy of the brochure to keep. Customers are also informed that the credit or debit card provided for their purchase will be forwarded to us for processing the magazine orders.

When we did not hear from Ms. [redacted] that she wished to cancel her subscriptions at the end of her trial period, the semi-annual subscription charges were posted to her account. On April 5, 2013, Ms. [redacted] contacted our service center via our online website and cancelled her subscriptions to [redacted] and [redacted] generating a full refund in the total amount of $84.97 to her account.

Upon receipt of your correspondence on July 17, 2013, we cancelled Ms. [redacted]'s subscription to [redacted] generating a full refund of $58.00 to her account, which includes the previous year's charges. In addition, we processed a refund for the remaining balance for her subscriptions to [redacted] and [redacted] in the amount of $225.48, which includes the previous year's charges. It should be noted that banks direct us to ask customers to allow one to two billing statements for written confirmation of the refund to appear, depending on their billing cycle.

Ms. [redacted] can be assured that her subscriptions have been cancelled and all charges refunded to her account. Also, Ms. [redacted] may continue to receive one or two more issues of her magazines since they were in process at the time of cancellation. She may keep these with our compliments.

Please be assured that customer satisfaction is very important to us and we take great care in providing our customers with the highest level of service. If I can be of any further assistance in this matter, please contact me at (XXX) XXX-XXXX.

Sincerely yours,

Manager, Customer Service

Review: I used [redacted] Miles and some nominal cash (eg 2,000 miles + $5) to get some magazine subscriptions. The subscriptions were nearing the end and they charged my checking account without my approval - for $32/each. I called and they cancelled and agreed to reverse the charges. The state on my checking account transaction information is NY, so I'm filing the complaint with the NY Revdex.com.I do not remember receiving a notificaton that they would be doing this when I signed up for the magazines. I also went back to the website, where it did in fact say they would take the money automatically - but only after a notification, which I never received.I believe this is a deceptive marketing practice and their terms/conditions should be investigated a bit more closely. [redacted] I do not remember autorenewal when I purchased though.

Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Not applicable

They should not be allowed to auto-renew.

Dear Ms. [redacted]

I write in response to the inquiry registered with your office by consumer [redacted]. We genuinely regret the inconvenience that Ms. [redacted] experienced regarding her magazine subscriptions, and have attempted to resolve her concerns.

Our records show that Ms. [redacted] placed two orders with our company. The first order was placed for [redacted] and [redacted]. The second order was placed for [redacted] and [redacted], when she accepted our promotional offer, which was presented by [redacted] These offers allowed her to receive the first year of issues for $2.00 per title. The offers also provided that her subscriptions would continue automatically and be charged to the credit card that was provided when placing her order, unless she called our toll-free customer service number to cancel. In addition, it is our policy that customers who wish to cancel may do so at any time by calling our toll-free customer service number, which is provided on our renewal notice and also on the customer's billing statement with each charge.

When we did not hear from Ms. [redacted] that she wished to cancel her subscriptions at the end of her first term, the annual charges were posted to her account. On June 25, 2013, Ms. [redacted] contacted our customer service center and cancelled her subscriptions to [redacted] and [redacted], generating refund to her account reflecting the value of unserved issues in the amount $114.63 to her account.

It should be noted, however, that banks direct us to ask customers to allow one or two billing statements for written confirmation of the refund to appear, depending on their billing cycle.

Ms. [redacted] can be assured that her subscriptions have been cancelled. Also, Ms. [redacted] may continue to receive one or two more issues of her magazines since they were in process at the time of cancellation. She may keep these with our compliments.

Did I see correctly? This company has an a+ rating? How could it with lots of negative complaints and none positive? Anyway, yes, they give you "free" magazines and I know I marked that I did not want to continue with the subscriptions Sure enough, there are the charges on my credit card bill, a higher price than I know I could get from the magazine directly. When I called they only wanted to refund part, I said I wanted it all refunded, they put me on hold and then said they would refund the whole part. Splendid of them. They did refund the entire amount within two days.

How in the world can this place be a Revdex.com accredited business when you order a magazine subscription as a gift and one year later they put a $33 charge on your debit card to continue the subscription? This is inexcusable and nowhere do they say they will use your card in a year to auto renew a gift subscription. What a scam. They should shut these people down for unauthorized use of a debit card!

I have had great service and fast and immediate cancellation of the magazines I ordered the first time for $2.00 each. I got the notification card in plenty of time to cancel, and an offer was made for another year at the same $2.00/year rate for one of the magazines so I took it! I got the notification card for THAT renewal and called today to cancel, received yet ANOTHER offer for $2.00 for six more months, so I took that as well. Even when I missed a card, I still received a full refund. This was all automated, so I am still surprised and pleased that it worked so well! I'll keep signing up as long as the offers are so good!

[redacted] stupid company, bankruptcy is waiting you.

This is one of those companies that thrives on a consumer not keeping tabs on billing.
The first year is great, but they count on you not noticing you are being overcharged the following year. Scream loud for your total refund on these unauthorized charges and get your money back. Do not deal with them again!!!

I registered for a race and was offered "free" magazines for 3 months. With no other correspondence all of a sudden my account started being charged for the magazines. It was extreamly difficult to get the number for ACT to cancel the "subscription" and even when I obtained the contact info online , you could not talk to a person at all. The entire process was an automated system or via email. Total scam!

Review: Subscription to a magazine not required, using credit card data provided for purchasing a book.

They offered a kind of magazine subscription without providing any information in a bookstore. Without clarity, using the credit card information I provide to buy a book, they ended up selling me a subscription to a magazine without me willing to do it. I asked a full refund and I am still waiting for them to answer. This is very unclear business and I do not recommend anybody to deal within this company.Desired Settlement: Full refund of the subscription, 100%, as it was taken from me without complete information.

This is one of the worst companies ever. Never doing what they claim when it comes to their shady magazine sells via online. Stating they email you about upcoming charges so you have a chance to cancel and then never sending it. Causing outrageous charges to bank accounts. One of the most shady companies I have ever seen. Shouldn't have a A+ with Revdex.com but a big fat FFF.
