The Charlotte Observer Reviews (%countItem)

For the past four days, we have not received the paper.
We subscribe to the Charlotte Observer, and we are supposed to have home delivery. However, we have been having delivery problems since last Wednesday (January 29, 2020). I notified the paper about this problem on Wednesday morning, and a copy of the paper was delivered later that day. Since then, the service has gotten even worse. We did not received a paper on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.

Desired Outcome

I just want to get what I paid for.

The Charlotte Observer Response • Feb 03, 2020

We have alerted the distribution company of the error and asked for correction. The distributor reported that there was a substitute, who will not be used again. Delivery will be corrected.

Cannot get company to stop delivering the free Encore paper.
I want the Encore papers to stop being delivered to my address in *** On several occasions I've sent emails (using the link in their website) requesting the Encore papers to be stopped and they continue to be tossed in my driveway. They have become an eyesore in our neighborhood. They wind up on the sidewalks and in the street because people are tired of picking them up and tired of trying to make them stop.

Desired Outcome

Stop delivering to my address. I received a reply email from Averil, customer service representative, which stated my address would be removed from the next scheduled delivery. But that did not occur. I'm still receiving the paper.

The Charlotte Observer Response • Feb 03, 2020

The stop request has been sent to the distribution company. The distributor will inform the carrier to stop delivery at this address. Our database has been updated with this information.

Customer Response • Feb 04, 2020

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I hesitate to accept the response for two reasons: 1) based on other homeowners' experiences, it took more than one complaint to get favorable results, and 2) the paper was delivered once again to me this morning (2/4/20). Although today's unwanted delivery was just one day after Revdex.com received the business' response, it was after I sent emails on two separate occasions directly to the business asking that they stop this unwanted delivery. I only have until 2/9/20 to accept the business' response, but I won't know until 2/11/20 if the business has heeded my request.

Last week, no newspaper Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Today, January 26, 2020, no newspaper. Plus, last week I wasn't able to log-in to read the paper because they were updating the system. Also, with all the rain lately, numerous wet newspapers.

Desired Outcome

We have advised the new carrier on the route to deliver to this address all 7 days. Credit has been applied to the account for the missed copies. A replacement copy from XXXXXX is also being sent out for re-delivery with tomorrow's edition.

I am filing a complaint regarding fraudulent credit card charges for a Charlotte Observer subscription. On 8/18/19, there was a charge for $15.02
I am filing a complaint regarding fraudulent credit card charges for a Charlotte Observer subscription. On 8/18/19, there was a charge for $15.02 from the Charlotte Observer on our credit card. No one in our family ever signed up for newspaper delivery, and I have no idea how they got our credit card info.
I called Chase to report the fraudulent charge: They removed it and said they were going to investigate the charge further, then issued a new card. Additionally, I have received calls from the Observer several times regarding my "subscription," and I've told them I never signed up for newspaper delivery and to take me off their list.
I received a notice from A.R.M Solutions, dated December 31, 2019, attempting to collect $45.50 on behalf of the Observer.
This attempt by A.R.M. to collect money I do not owe needs to stop NOW. If no action is taken to remove these charges, I will contact a lawyer to fight this matter. It's not about the money, it's about the deception.

Desired Outcome

I want the Observer to contact A.R.M. Solutions and have them remove me from their list to restore my credit

The Charlotte Observer Response • Jan 27, 2020

For the past 7 Sundays, I have not received the Observer, despite repeated calls to the Observer of the problem.

For many years, I subscribed to the Sunday Charlotte Observer. I notified the Observer that effective December 4th I had a new address. Each and every Sunday since then I have yet to receive the paper. Each and every Sunday since then, I have notified the Observer, - and still....................no paper. I know The Observer delivers to this neighborhood, as my neighbor gets delivery. This is way too frustrating, - so I want to cancel once and for all. Please credit me the amount I have paid in advance weeks ago.

Desired Outcome

Refund the amount I have paid in advance.

The Charlotte Observer Response • Jan 27, 2020

We apologize for the inconvenience and a refund in the amount of $54.75 will be credited back to your account within 24-48 hours.

Failure to consistently deliver their product.
Over the last few years, we have periodically had delivery issues for short periods of time, but in the last few weeks, the problem has been sever and I am not getting any answers or assistance from the Charlotte Observer. We have received one newspaper in the last four days and are missing numerous others over the last three weeks. This is not just happening to me. I have been checking with four neighbors who subscribe and they are not receiving the paper either. They, too, say that their complaints have brought no improvement.
They keep telling me I can access the paper online, which I know. If I wanted a digital only subscription, that is what I would pay for. I sometimes put articles aside to share or to ready later and can't do that with digital versions. I also can't do the crossword puzzle or work the sudoku. I also miss out on valuable coupons.

The most the Observer has done is credit me for one day of service with a missed delivery, but for me to purchase a missed copy of the paper costs significantly more.

Desired Outcome

I want to reliably receive the paper every day and believe I should be credited with significantly more than one day when they fail to deliver the product.

The Charlotte Observer Response • Jan 27, 2020

We will get the delivery corrected with the new carrier. We will contact the customer directly with feedback.

Dispute of Letter of collections from A.R.M indicating Services were provided by Charlotte Observer and $95.78 is owed.

I have received a letter from you dated December 31, 2019 from A.R.M. serving as your representative for collections indicating that I owe $95.78 to the Charlotte Observer. At no time have I ever authorized or initiated a subscription to the Charlotte Observer. In September of 2018 I relocated to Charlotte at the current address. At that time we were given a subscription by my parents as a gift. From the onset we had issues with the paper being delivered. Several times we called to complain that we were not receiving our subscription. Delivery would start and then stop again. We stopped receiving delivery all together by December of 2018(not sure if we were supposed to or not) but at that point we did not care since it was coming so infrequently anyway.
Several times I received a call for the Observer asking if we wanted to renew and and told them "NO WAY" and how I did not receive the paper before. I have no idea why the paper thinks I owe them money. I have never given verbal nor written authorization to a Representative of the Charlotte Observer for their services.
Now I am spending my time writing a letter to A.R.M. as well as making this posting for a charge that I did not authorize for something I never received which is now having a negative effect on my credit report. How about the Charlotte Observer reimburse my parents for the gift subscription my parents thought they gave me instead of charging for a service no one received or authorized.
I have submitted a letter to A.R.M. very similar to this posting to dispute this charge and have all record of it removed.
On a side note how is it possible that I did not get a single call from the Observer nor a bill that this charge was out there. The first I hear of it is the collection letter and it showing up on my credit report. Sorry but something is not right here.

Desired Outcome

removal of all Charges and clear this from all credit reports.

Received a collections notice from ARM Solutions for $167.29 with no prior billing attempt from the Charlotte Observer. These charges are unfounded.
I canceled my subscription to the Charlotte Observer in July 2019. I was supposed to be received the paper on the weekend, but delivery had stopped for a while and I realized I was paying for nothing so I called to cancel. I was told on the phone that my subscription was canceled but that I would continue to receive the paper for free to make up for the papers that I paid for but were not delivered. I made my last monthly payment on 7/16/19 and received an email receipt on 7/19/19 for a print-digital subscription for $0.00. The order number attached to the receipt was ***MXXXXXXXXX.

I checked my mail today to find a letter from ARM Solutions collections company stating that my account is delinquent and that I owe $167.29 to The Charlotte Observer. The letter states that despite their client's best effort, the matter remains unresolved. I have received absolutely no communication from The Charlotte Observer regarding an outstanding balance and there should be no unpaid balance because when I had an active subscription, it was charged automatically every month.

The Client Acct # associated with the collections notice is XXXXXXXX and the Agency Acct # is XXXXXXXXX.

Desired Outcome

The false delinquent charges of $167.29 need to be overturned immediately and any resulting damage to my credit report should be corrected. My file with ARM Solutions needs to be closed and listed as unfounded charges. I would like a full resolution in writing (via email is fine) explaining that the charges were incorrect and should have never gone to a collections agency.
