Received a collections notice from ARM Solutions for $167.29 with no prior billing attempt from the Charlotte Observer. These charges are unfounded.
I canceled my subscription to the Charlotte Observer in July 2019. I was supposed to be received the paper on the weekend, but delivery had stopped for a while and I realized I was paying for nothing so I called to cancel. I was told on the phone that my subscription was canceled but that I would continue to receive the paper for free to make up for the papers that I paid for but were not delivered. I made my last monthly payment on 7/16/19 and received an email receipt on 7/19/19 for a print-digital subscription for $0.00. The order number attached to the receipt was ***MXXXXXXXXX.

I checked my mail today to find a letter from ARM Solutions collections company stating that my account is delinquent and that I owe $167.29 to The Charlotte Observer. The letter states that despite their client's best effort, the matter remains unresolved. I have received absolutely no communication from The Charlotte Observer regarding an outstanding balance and there should be no unpaid balance because when I had an active subscription, it was charged automatically every month.

The Client Acct # associated with the collections notice is XXXXXXXX and the Agency Acct # is XXXXXXXXX.

Desired Outcome

The false delinquent charges of $167.29 need to be overturned immediately and any resulting damage to my credit report should be corrected. My file with ARM Solutions needs to be closed and listed as unfounded charges. I would like a full resolution in writing (via email is fine) explaining that the charges were incorrect and should have never gone to a collections agency.

I signed up for just a 4 week trial of the Charlotte observer paper . Paid 17.00 then was charged 17.00 in January. Received no papers delivered
I called a customer rep and was yelled at. No appropriate answer as to why I was charged again when I had emailed them about not receiving my paper delivery for 4 weeks and to refund and cancel my account.
I also told them to put back the funds they took out on 1/9/20

Desired Outcome

I want my money back to my account for both months. I didn't receive the service they promised to me. This is the second time I've done business with them. They steal from customers.

The Charlotte Observer Response • Jan 12, 2020

Thank you for making us aware. A full refund in the amount of $34.32 will be expedited and processed.

Paid for Sunday paper and it has not been delivered.
I paid 111.54 for 52 week Sunday paper only. I received the paper regularly and it just stopped. I called and customer service said they would make sure the distributor was notified. After calling and complaining I ask them to send it to our office and guess what, never received. I just want a refund for papers that I never received. I am having to pay $4.00 on sunday to get paper I have already paid for. I get the Sunday paper for the coupons. When I call they tell me I can look at paper online. I don't want to look at paper on line I just want my money back. I bet you I will never get my refund. I have noticed all complaints are answered with a generated computer answer.

Desired Outcome

A refund for undelivered papers.

We chose to cancel our paper. We are being arrassed daily via phone calls and still are having papers delivered. We have asked them to stop calling us
We signed up to receive a paper to see if we would like it. Everything was fine until we called to put a hold on our paper becasue we were out of town. We came home to a pile of newspapers on our lawn. That was upsetting because it showed people we were not home. We decided then to cancel our subscription. That was weeks ago. We were told it would take 3 business days. It has been well beyond that. We are also getting two phone calls daily from reps asking why we canceled. We have requested each time for them to put us on a no call list. Each time they say they will have their supervisor do it and the next day, it starts again. We do NOT want the paper. We do NOT want to be contacted via phone, email or by mail anymore. It is harassment at this point.

Desired Outcome

We want the business to stop delivering papers, calling us on the phone, emaling us and sending literature through the postal service.

Subscription expired but delivery continued. I received a notice from collection agency for the days delivered without any notification from Observer
My Charlotte Observer subscription expired on 10/13/2019 and I chose not to renew. Even though my subscription expired, the newspaper continued to be delivered.
I received daily phone calls from the Observer attempting to persuade me to renew. Each time I clearly told them that I did not wish to renew my subscription. I was never informed nor did I receive an invoice from the Charlotte Observer that I was being billed for the addition days of delivery after my subscription expired. I have now received an invoice from A.R.M. Solutions, debt collector, that I owe $15.54 for my unpaid debt to the Charlotte Observer. First, if the Charlotte Observer felt that I should be responsible, they should have invoiced me before turning it over to a debt collector. Second, I don't feel that I should be responsible for payment of the newspaper that I did not request or want after my subscription expired.
Thank you

Desired Outcome

Charges to be removed and credit report corrected.

I had a one time subscription to the Charlotte Observer purchased using airline miles. Didn't renew but received a collection notice for payment.
During multiple phone calls with Observer staff I have informed them I will not renew the subscription. Yet I received a collection notice for $41. Last week I spent several hours on the phone trying to get this remedied. The manager I spoke with agreed to investigate the situation, wave the billing and provide me an email that the collection agency had been called off. But, on Friday 12/27/19 more papers began to be delivered. I fear there will be another billing for which I am not liable.

Please help me get out of this nightmare.

It appears from other complaints on your site, this is standard practice for them

Desired Outcome

I seek the following: 1. Written confirmation I do not owe the Observer any money. 2. Written confirmation from the collection agency ARM Solutions that there is no case against me for collection. 3. Immediate stoppage of newspaper delivery and assurances there will be no other billing and no other collection activities.

Turned over to a collection agency when I did not renew subscription.
I've subscribed to the Charlotte Observer off and on for 40 years. I have 3 homes, and am often in another state at one of my homes. My last subscription ran out at the end of 2018 or early 2019. I did not renew. I have since received notices from *** saying my account is delinquent and I owe $48.09.

I have subscribed to numerous magazines and newspapers in my 60 years. Never have I had a publisher send me to collections because I did not renew their product.

Desired Outcome

I would like this bill removed from my record, I did not resubscribe and am unaware of any responsibility to cancel a subscription which expired.

Business auto renewed subscription without notice, then tried to charge for four days of service between autorenewal and when I discovered charge.
Subscription was auto renewed without warning or notice on 12/22. I discovered the charge on 12/26 and called to cancel. The customer service rep attempted to charge me for the 4 days from 12/22 through 12/26. I said that was unacceptable and that I hadn't used the service. He kept insisting that I had to pay for the 4 days of service. I started to yell, and then he hung up.

Desired Outcome

Full refund and stop trying to cheat your customers.

I paid for Sunday delivery. I received the paper one Sunday and then not for the following 7 weeks. I called to complain 6 times with no change.
I paid for Sunday delivery. I received the paper one Sunday and then not for the following 7 weeks. I called to complain 6 times with no change. They keep telling me that they are going to fix the problem and they give me a credit for the papers missed yet Sunday comes and still no paper.

The credit is useless if I am still not getting the paper. They are taking my money and not giving me anything of value in return.

Desired Outcome

I would prefer an actual delivery of the paper rather than a credit for a delivery that never comes. I think whoever is in charge of the delivery department needs to be replaced by someone that can do the job.

Wanting the encore papers to stop being delivered to our townhouse neighborhood
I am on the board of moss creek neighborhood walkers glen townhomes. We have residents that ask repeatedly for the Encore Papers to be stopped via the link that the observer provides as well as the phone number and they don't stop. I had to call and yell at them for it to finally stop. Our neighborhood is becoming a landfill and papers are going into the road and down the street because people are tired of picking them up and tired of trying to make them stop. They are ending up in the drains and clogging them. Isn't this littering?? This should really be an opt in service instead of opt out... especially if they're not going to stop the papers!!! This is for the neighborhood with

Desired Outcome

Stop delivering papers unless people request it!!!

The Charlotte Observer Response • Dec 18, 2019

We have requested a stop with the distribution company for this address. We have placed a stop in the database.

Customer Response • Feb 04, 2020

Still haven't heard from observer and now not hearing from Revdex.com. Is this typical business practice? See how within 4 hours of these being dropped they have blown into the street??? Why is it so difficult to have anyone do anything about littering in our neighborhood??

The Charlotte Observer Response • Feb 12, 2020

Verification was done on XXXXXX. Papers were removed from property. Database has been updated. Verification will be done on Walkers Glen and Amber Ridge going forward to be sure the deliveries are stopped at the requested addresses.

Fraudulent charges for services I never received.
Back in May/June of this year, 2019, a gentleman stopped me in the *** off of *** in *** and offered me a trial for both the herald and the Charlotte observer. I agreed because I was considering using the coupons from the paper and the gentleman offered me a $20 gift card to ***. From what I was told I would receive the Sunday paper and then another paper mid week. About 2 weeks into the month I called both the observer and herald to let them know I hadn't received any paper. They apologized and said they would like to give me another month free. I said okay but then another 2 weeks went by and I still had not received a paper. At this point I called both and said told them this and both companies apologized and tried to offer me another month. I'm sorry but no, it has been a month and I hadn't received anything so another month would have went buy and nothing would have changed. I told them to cancel the trial I didn't want it. After a couple more weeks I received a bill from The Observer for over $140. I called and they promised me it would be removed. A couple weeks later same thing. After another month or so I received a letter from a collection agency. I called AGAIN and have the conversation on recording that it had been escalated to be removed. I sent a letter to the collection agency and haven't heard back. Now with the herald I haven't ever received a bill but they call literally every other day to ask me if I want to restart my subscription and I tell them no and explain why. Not once did they tell me I had a bill with them or did I receive one in the mail. I just received a letter from collections from them as well. They newspaper company's are shady and at this point the only action I feel I have is to get an attorney. Do not trust the free trials.

Desired Outcome

I need both Charlotte Observer and The Herald to remove any charges that are associated with my name because they are fraudulent and I never agreed on services. They need to send a letter to collections so this does not affect my credit. I also need to be removed from their call list.
