Delivery issues missing papers for a year now & 3 TV guide issues paid in full through 1/19/2020 for paper & TV guide missed issues paid trial sub.
Have had BAD problems with paper being delivered for almost a year now after problems in 2018 were finally resolved for a few months. We miss 3-4 or more papers a month & some are delivered the next day even. Often after 10 Am getting here.Got a trial sub. for TV magazine & missed 3 weeks of that. Their company told us they would do nothing about it due to they fulfilled their contract by giving them to the Observer & it was the paper's fault they did not deliver them to us. We have now missed 4 papers & not received one since Friday 11/22/19. Usually it is only 1 paper a week. Calling or emailing gets the same standard answer of we will address the issue with your carrier & the distribution mgr. & see that you get the good service you deserve. What a laugh !!!! We are paid up through Jan. 19, 2020 & have stated we will NOT renew after being good faithful usually paid bill by the year until these delivery issues got so badcustomers for almost 40 YEARS at this same location. We just want our paper that we have paid to get delivered each day. We keep being told to use the online issue BUT we have WIndstream internet & it is spotty at best lots of days & we can't pull up the paper. Since the Monroe EJ has gone to 3x a week & is mailed we have no way of getting the news except through the Charlotte Observer. Also we miss coupons in the Sunday paper most of the time which I KNOW because others do get them. Can you please help us to get our paper? Not sure if this matters BUT until last year we had very few if any problems with the paper. Thank you.

Desired Outcome

We want out paper delivered in a timely manner like before 8 AM & EVERY DAY not just once in a while & also the TV papers we were supposed to get & the coupons. Being on a fixed income the coupons do help to bring down the high cost of the paper. ll we ask is to get the complete paper on the day it is published & not later.IF the carrier is NOT going to deliver it then we expect the circulation dept. to send someone else if it is the district mgr. distribution mgr. or whoever to bring it.

DELIVERY ISSUES
I PAID FOR A SUBSCRIPTION FOR THE OBSERVER FOR MYSELF AND A FRIEND FOR SUNDAY DELIVERY ONLY. HOWEVER, FOR THE LAST 2 MONTHS, SHE NOR I HAVE RECEIVED THE NEWSPAPER. I HAVE CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT I'D RECEIVE A CREDIT, MY PAPER WOULD BE DELIVERED THE SAME DAY AND THAT SOMEONE WOULD CALL ME (SUPERVISOR). IT HAS BEEN 2 MONTHS AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CALL NOR MY NEWSPAPER. AND, THE TIMES PRIOR TO ME NOT RECEIVING MY NEWSPAPER, THE DELIVERY PERSON WOULD SIMPLY THROW THE NEWSPAPER ON THE STREET. ANYONE WHO WALKED BY MY HOUSE COULD, WALKING THEIR DOG COULD TAKE THE NEWSPAPER. THEY REFUSED TO PUT IT ON MY FRONT PORCH OR EVEN IN THE NEWSPAPER DELIVERY SLOT THAT IS ATTACHED TO MY MAILBOX! I AM EXTREMELY IRRITATED WITH THE LEVEL OF SERVICE RECEIVED. THE CLT OBSERVER DOES NOT VALUE THEIR CUSTOMERS. MY MONEY DOES NOT PAY FOR FRUSTRATION!!! I AM TIRED OF CALLING EVERY SUNDAY AND HAVING TO SPEND MONEY FOR A NEWSPAPER WHEN I HAVE ALREADY PAID FOR A SUBSCRIPTION!!!!

Desired Outcome

CLT OBSERVER NEEDS TO CONTACT ME. ALSO, THEY SHOUD NOT ONLY OFFER AN APOLOGY, BUT STATE HOW THEY ARE GOING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE.

I continue to have issues with the Charlotte Observer. I am still not receiving my newspaper and/or it is still being left out in the street. I am paying for my newspaper to be delivered to my door and they have failed miserably. I have a newspaper holder that is attached to my mailbox that the carrier could leave it in; however, they prefer to be lazy and throw it on the street. This is not what I pay for. I continue to spend money because I am forced to buy the newspaper from the store because I am not receiving the paper. The Charlotte Observer has failed to correct this issue and has demonstrated HORRIBLE customer service! Whenever, you call their office, you get someone in India. They tell you that someone will call you and they never do. You never speak to anyone that works directly at the newspaper. They dodge their customers. We are the reason that they have jobs!!!

The Charlotte Observer Response • Dec 30, 2019

Thank you for making us aware of your continued delivery issues. I have contacted our Logistics team to correct any delivery problem immediately.

We appreciate your continued patience and have credited your account by 2 weeks for service issues.

We will get this problem fixed and apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks,

My newspaper has not been delivered for two Sundays. I have contacted customer service via email, via the online system with no response from anyone.
They are a bad company for customer service. They do not respond to emails. They do not respond to their online form. They do not advance your account with a credit when delivery is not made. I only get the paper for the coupons. It does not help me for them to say I can read it online. I want my coupons. This is my last resort to get someone from the company to contact me.

Desired Outcome

I want someone to call me who can tell me something about my paper being delivered. I want my coupons from the past two Sundays I missed. I want my account credited for the past two Sundays.

The Charlotte Observer Response • Nov 12, 2019

The missed coupons have been given to the distribution team for redelivery. The account has been credited for the missed copies. The distributor will physically verify the delivery for the coming Sundays to be sure delivery has been completed.

Debt turned over to collection agency without any notification of an outstanding debt.
11/2/19 received a letter of debt collection from ARM Solutions acting on behalf of the Charlotte Observer dated 10/22/19. About shown as due $65.57. Called ARM 11/4 @ 10:23 DST spoke with Angel employee ID. After much discussion, she offered to reduce the amount to $50.00 if paid now. She was unable to tell me the dates of service or how many notices had been sent by the Observer to collect. A debit was made to our checking account.

I called the Observer 11/4/19 @ 10:36am DST, spoke with Nina employee ID. I told her we canceled the subscription in June once receiving the renewal notice in excess of $200.00 annually. I did not keep a record of the person to whom we made the cancellation as we did not expect any issue to arise. I also told her we were putting our home on the market to sell and did so June 20, 2019. I informed her the home sold and we vacated the home August 1, 2019. I asked what period the debt covered and she said, "June 4-September 2, 2019". I asked how many notices of debt had been sent, she was unable to provide the information. She said the subscription was canceled due to non payment. I informed her ARN had collected $50.00 today and that I expected a refund of the same. I asked to be transferred to someone else and she replied " I cannot transfer your call to anyone". She said she was sending a "Billing Department Investigation to determine if the $50.00 can be refunded". I asked when I should expect a response and she said " you will get a response within 24-48 hours." I gave her the landline number of XXX-XXX-XXXX to call.

Desired Outcome

Refund of $50.00 and letter of apology and explanation.

The Charlotte Observer Response • Nov 17, 2019

Customer Support

I subscribed to the paper but did not receive the papers, asked for the subscription to be canceled and it is still be charged to my account.
I subscribed to the paper July 2018 but never received the papers. I called on 4 different occasions to complain and was told it would be corrected and my account would be credited. It was not corrected and on October 1, 2018 I emailed the subscription desk requesting that the subscription be canceled. This has continued to be deducted from my account every month with NO delivery of the paper.

Desired Outcome

I would like a refund for these months that I have been billed but have not received delivery of the paper and I want the subscription canceled and no longer deducted from my account.

After 3 or more complaints they continue to throw bagged advertising (trash) in my driveway and yard. To me this is littering and they need to stop.
This has been ongoing for over a year.

Desired Outcome

Just want them to stop littering.

I prepaid for a one-year print subscription. I have not received one issue. It has been two months. I have called numerously and filed complaints.
Two months ago I paid for a one-year print subscription and I have yet to receive one, not one, issue. Absolutely nothing has been delivered. I have called numerous times and been connected to an out-sourced call center where they ask my info, put me on hold for 5 minutes, return and say they will input a complaint. One call actually got my hopes up because the lady said she would mark it to be expedited. To date, nothing. This subscription is for an elderly Charlottean man, who has been a lifelong subscriber to the Observer. He has no internet access and very much relies on this paper for his news. I am so irate because when I call, which has been several times, no one can tell me what the problem is, only "we will submit a claim."

I would not subscribe to this paper in the future. I would advise getting news from online or at least the articles the Observer provides for free online. Their service is a mockery of business. I paid my fee, I did my part, and they did not honor their contractual business obligation.

Desired Outcome

I want the print delivery of the paper which has been paid for in full. I want you to honor your business contract. The address for the delivery is:

Thank you for making us aware. Mailed papers are sent 3rd class and can sit 'untouched' in the post office up to 3-5 days before they're sent out for delivery.

I've verified the address is correct on file.

I apologize for the inconvenience and your account has been credited accordingly for the delayed papers.

Intermittent paper delivery for the last 6 months. Typically only receive the paper about 2-3 days weekly, this has been on-going for months.
About 6 months ago my home paper delivery, which is supposed to be 7-day delivery, became very intermittent. There's been periods when I did not receive a paper for 2 weeks. Typically the paper has been delivered about 2-3 days weekly for the last 6 months and not even the same days! I have phoned the 800 number several times to inquire about the delivery issues. Each phone call goes to a off shore call center where a person who barely speaks English reads from the same script each time I call. They can offer no explanation as to why the paper delivery has been so erratic for so many months. Each time they promise that a observer supervisor will be in touch with me within 24 hours to discuss the problem, no one ever calls back.

Desired Outcome

All I have asked for is that the paper be delivered reguarly.

The Charlotte Observer Response • Oct 31, 2019

We have contacted the distribution company and asked for immediate correction. We have extended your subscription for 2 months for your inconvenience. We will get this corrected.
