*** ** *** Claim *** Dear ***, Upon our conversation Friday (April 1, 2016) with you, me and Trisha (*** representative)Trishia asked me how the lightning strike got inside the coil inside the house. I was amazed to think that she did not know that lightning strike traveled to the inner coil thru the Copper Freon tube attached to the outside condensation unit. Why did Trishia not know that the lightning strike would travel using the cooper plumbing till it would find something to ground toShe clearly did not seem to understand how the lightning strike would follow the cooper tubing supporting the Freon into the air conditioning coil inside(since it is cooper all the way to the coil). The lightning strike charge was looking for a source to ground the high voltage charge to. Lightning is also a known heat source and can definitely cause the damage that was clearly on the outside air conditioning unit and inside coil damage.. Upon reading their (***) findings it appears that they are saying the condensing unit was in satisfactory conditionHe (*** technician)shorted the unit to make the unit start, so the unit did not even energize by itself. The unit did not have any Freon in the unitHe only had that unit on for a minimum of secondsHe has no idea if that unit would run without having issues with only secondsHe took out the capacitor in the unit saying the end clips were broken and would not workThe inside coil unit had a hole that released the Freon and oil from unit into my home the night of the storm. This hole shows a mark that was generated from inside the coil. The hole was generated from inside the coil outward and if you tell me what would generate a hole with no other marring (blow out from inside the coil) thus damaging that coil unit other than from a lightning strike. There was never once stated in the findings what caused the damages that my unit sustained I had a surge suppressor that would not work when plugging my DISH receiver in the unit. The light was not on when I noticed that the receiver was not on. I reset the surge suppressorAnd the light came back on. I still had no light on for the DISH receiver. I called and reported to DISH that it had no power. They sent me another unit with only a $shipping charge. I then tried to see if the receptacle would work and bypassed the surge suppressor. The receptacle did work and the luckily the big TV was hooked into a daisy chained suppressor unit. The TV was not effectedI had to go outside to the circuit breaker panel and reset several switches because they were offI had to fix many issues the night from the storm and lightning strikeI even went outside during the heavy rain and lightning to make sure the house was not on fire.(getting completely soaked)I should be happy my home did not burn down. I had an ***(*** *** ***) representative come that night and checked the natural gas system for leaks and he checked to make sure the furnace would work. He checked all lines and then started the furnace unit to make sure that it was safe since I was using heat at that time for mornings and restarted the hot water heater. I had the air conditioner technician come out and check the air conditioning unit the next day. He put his gauges on the unit to check the Freon level and he said there was no Freon in the unit which was a $service charge. He then proceeded to disclose the inside coil. I showed him where I felt the Freon coming out of the unit at that time that night of the lightning strikeHe located the hole in the coil. In the 20+ years of having my home, there has never been a claim on this residentWhen everyone around the neighborhood had their roofs replace by their insurance companyI PAID for the repairs of my roof because it was time to replace the roof before it started to leak. Cool Ray maintains the air conditioning unit since it was new (roughly 2007, they have all the maintenance contracts and reports)I take pride in my home and have replaced the entire outside siding, roof, heating and cooling system, windows, replacing flooring myself and did major work on the crawlspace. To think that Trishia did not know how the strike got inside the inside coil is showing me that this firm does not have the credit you are giving them. Sincerely, Kathie ***
