We were met at the cruise port and the van was very comfortable. Tom was a fantastic guide and tailored a tour for us especially, taking all our requests (e.g. trying local wines and oysters) and wishes into account and creating a custom tour for us. He was also happy to take photos and videos for us so we would all be included (there were 6 in the group!). He was so friendly and easy to chat to and knew SO much about the history of Dubrovnik and also Game of Thrones trivia and locations about the city.
I chose tours by locals because for four people it was less expensive than being on a bus tour. I wanted a personal touch and flexibilty. A couple of people in our group have trouble with motion sickness and we wanted to be able to stop when necessary. Wilfredo promptly picked us up at the airport so that we could start our city tour right away. We were all hungry so he took us to a local restaurant for Peruvian food and also local dancers so we could get the feel of Cusco. He adapted the stops to our needs. His information was wonderful. Our final stop was overlooking the city with a rainbow. A perfect ending to a perfect afternoon.
Great way to see how "real" Bali lives. Wayan, our guide was very knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. He took us to his home and showed us the customs and style of living in his family compound. We had a wonderful Balinese lunch in an out of the way restaurant overlooking beautiful jungle with tiered rice paddies. All in all a great experience.
We had a cruise stopover in Phuket and Lee was right on time to get us and made navigating the busy port very easy. Lee gave us a great feel of the area and took us on a boat tour away from the crowds. He also found us sticky rice that our daughter was craving and lots of mangos!!! Lee really made the trip fun and gave us a true "taste" of the area.
Marco was excellent. He was waiting for us when we got off of the Viking Star to start our Amalfi coast tour. He was prompt, professional, accommodating, friendly, flexible, outgoing, and very knowledgeable about the area. He really made the tour so much fun. His car was air conditioned, in immaculate condition and very comfortable. My aunt and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Jonas V. to the Prehispanic pyramids of Teotihuacan! He is a true professional yet being with him is like you are visiting a friend who is showing you his neighborhood! He is punctual, always accessible by email or by phone and speaks perfect English. His transportation vehicle is new and comfortable.
We LOVED our private tour with Jonas V. for many reasons but above all it was his love, passion and knowledge of Mexico and it's culture and people which truly made our experience more than we could have expected. One of my fondest memories of our tour, and a fine example of his great sense of humor, is the physical demonstration I got after asking a question related to a ritual ball game played . I had asked why it was so important that the inhabitants used their hips during the game......Jonas thoughtfully considered the question for a moment, cleared a small area next to where we were standing, and proceeded to physically demonstrate the action by sliding across the ground to illustrate the need of hitting the ball with one's hip in order to keep the ball aloft while playing this ancient game!!!!!!!
Jonas never hurried us ....he kept the agenda moving forward..not because he had a finish time for the day in mind but because he wanted us to experience everything that he had planned for us before the day ended!!!! He wanted us to have the FULL experience!

My son and I booked a Munich city tour with Stefan and asked him to focus on the 3rd Reich years.The tour was outstanding. We mostly walked, but there were a couple of locations a bit further away so we took local buses as well. Stefan's knowledge was vast and he took us to places that aren't necessarily in guidebooks. It was quite interactive, with discussions of current political events as well. And we even stopped for a beer at the Christmas market. Great tour!
Melinda, who we hired through Tours by Locals, was a wonderful guide who gave us great insights into Budapest. She was very understanding of the cold conditions, and made sure we were comfortable. By the end of the tour, she felt like an old friend. Everything about our tour to the archaeological sites of Trujillo with Patricia was great. The tour I arranged was for a group of senior citizens from ages in mid sixties to early eighties from the USA & Canada, and without exception, everyone complimented me on the arrangements, and Patricia, on the tour. Without a doubt, Patricia gets a top rating of 5 in every category.
We used Tours By Locals to find a guide for Muscat Oman. Valentina was a great guide. She was incredibly knowledgeable and took us to see some less touristy sites in addition to the main sites. Her car was clean and very comfortable. She was able to answer all our questions. We wanted to purchase some local goods and she took us to a nice shop with better quality than the other souk shops. I would definitely recommend Valentina and Tours By Locals.
Very pleased with the tour and guide John. John was very knowledgeable about Auckland & the areas we toured. He was accommodating and personable-we were very comfortable. We scheduled the tour to start at 10:30 AM, when our disembarkation from the ship went faster than expected (we were out by 930 AM), we emailed John and he was happy to come sooner--we were picked up by 10 AM. It was great having a private tour. Much better than the cruise ship excursions, where we felt like herded cattle.
Dominick was AWESOME! He took the time to understand what we'd like to see, added lots of special surprises - even took the time to order (and hand deliver) a Birthday Cake from a local bakery to help celebrate our daughter's birthday. He's super knowledgeable on NOLA sites - we learned a ton and saw plenty. Would highly recommend him.
We had a most wonderful day with Michel. He enhanced our trip in Provence with his extensive knowledge of the history and of the area. We could not have been more pleased. He was flexible as to our wishes, and very professional. We were devastated we had to miss our second day with Michel when our ship could not dock in Monaco. We will definitely seek him out for future travel. Like so many of these beautiful villages scattered around Provence, Michel is a 'gem'!
My sisters and I, one of whom is a rabid Beatrix Potter fan (she named her country property "Hilltop") had a most enjoyable tour of the Beatrix Potter sites and the Lake District with Andrew [redacted] of ToursbyLocals. He was a fountain of knowledge about Potter's legacy in the district and the district itself. He is a very pleasant and instantly likable fellow with a relaxed manner and had a gentle but firm way of keeping us on schedule. Our van was spacious and impeccably clean.
