It was a pleasure working with our guide, Alex [redacted]. He was thorough and highly professional. We knew we'd only have one day to spend in Hanoi and that we had to maximize our visit in every way possible. Alex met us at the airport (our flight got in at 7:00 AM, took us to our hotel, waited until we had checked in an freshened up and then took us to an ATM so we could get some local currency. Then, he spent the whole day with us, showing the highlights of his city including the Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, the One Pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature and so much more. The most important lesson he gave us was in crossing the streets. There are no traffic lights in Hanoi and the traffic is chaotic. You have to walk slowly through the cars and motorbikes and maintain eye contact with the drivers. We were amazed. It works! We survived the traffic in Hanoi. We returned to our hotel around 4:15. It was a great day and we felt we had accomplished our objective in seeing as much as we could in one day.
Winston was engaging, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Despite the cold and rainy weather he made our tour of Granville Island extremely enjoyable.He answered all of our questions and showed us some "off the beaten path" treasures. I highly recommend that when in Vancouver you employ his services as it is time and money well spent!
We had a 10 hour freestyle tour with Mully on April 13, 2016 during our family vacation to Bali. We enthusiastically give him 5 stars. He was prompt, friendly, and oh so knowledgeable. We had all kinds of questions for him and whether they had to do with the biology, botany, geology, history, religion, or social norms of Bali, he was quick and informative with the answers. A pleasure to be with and would hire him again in a second and highly to anyone traveling this wonderful part of the world.
Hayden's tour was really nice! He showed us some nice places in Georgetown. He also gave us some good advice on how to get to Georgetown from where we were before that.

This October trip was our second time with a tourbylocals guide, first in Kyoto Japan last November and this more recent one in Netherlands. We met Walda at our hotel lobby in Amsterdam. Walda is gracious and punctual. We went thru the National gallery and the Van Gogh at a nice pace seeing the key works and hearing their artistic nuances and historic significance. Walda teaches art history so we got briefings along the way respecting art and the country outlook. Very enjoyable halfday for 1st time visit!
Our walking tour with Anne was everything we could have asked for on our brief stay in Paris. She was knowledgeable, charming, and very eager to share her city with us. She took us to both the highlights and little known areas of Paris and replied quickly via email with answers to our questions before our trip. We will return to Paris for a longer stay and look forward to seeing her again. Be sure to visit her favorite pastry and macaroon shops- wonderful!!

In Lisbon we had a terrific tour with guide, Gloria [redacted]. Gloria is a wonderful tour guide. She treated us like royalty. Her knowledge about Portugal and Lisbon and Jewish life in Lisbon was excellent. We enjoyed being with her for the day. One of the highlights was visiting the only synagogue in Lisbon where we met with one of the members and could ask questions. Gloria showed us much more of Lisbon that we even anticipated. I would recommend her as a guide to anyone visiting in Lisbon. She was delightful.
Miyuki was knowledgeable and very helpful in describing the important places in Nagasaki. She was also very helpful in finding things that my wife wanted to buy. She even helped with our transportation. Her English was excellent. We will recommend her to friends who travel to Nagasaki.

Vimal is the most knowledgeable naturalist that I have met in Nepal and India. Not only is he an accomplished bird watching specialist, he also has a great understanding of local plants and butterflies. A very patient guide, and someone you will enjoy spending time with. I felt he was the perfect guide for this adventure.
Very nice tour given by Leoncio, very friendly, came on time. He showed us many places an told us a lot of stories, local history and gave us a lot of information. Dropped us at a nice restaurant at the end of the tour. A very nice experience!
Susanne was a fantastic guide. This was my first trip to Paris so I wanted to see all of the highlights that I could during my short visit. My partner and I took in Taroko Gorge, the scenic drive from Hualien to Taichung, and a trip to Jiufen with our guide Kevin **. Kevin designed a truly memorable tour for us - a terrific time of hiking, walking and sightseeing, delicious treats of indigenous, local, simple and exquisite cuisines, and a delightful mix of art appreciation and craft making, too! We experienced his principle of living a life of unlimited possibilities when he's unafraid of trying new ideas and making what seem like effortless changes to suit our needs and interests. Only four days with Kevin, but we've built a friendship that will last a long time.
We used Tours By Locals for a tour of Santiago, a Chilean Winery and then a transfer to our cruise ship. It was well organized, the guide was very professional and knowledgeable and the whole experience was a very good one. I would use them again in other locations and would highly recommend them as a good option for local tours.
Nurul and her husband Didot were wonderful. They worked with us to plan our visit and were very flexible throughout. We saw the important temples but they also took us to local markets, favorite restaurants and national parks. We even had a cooking class at their home. I don't think we could have had a better window into Yogyakarta than to be guided by them. We highly recommend them.
