Neslihan was my guide for the day, and made my few hours in Istanbul a fantastic experience. Her knowledge of Istanbul's history and local culture was in depth, absorbing and tailored to suit my available time. She speaks perfect English, very helpful, a pleasure to meet and gets my full recommendation!
Geovanni was on point, at all times. With great flexibility, we were able to create an itinerary that was well suited for our group. His knowledge of the city and its landmarks were enlightening and enabled us to move through NYC swiftly. Do not underestimate the value of having a local help guide you through your adventure. We had a most enjoyable and interesting time with Roland on Oahu. He is very knowledgeable about Hawaii past and present and we learned a lot as we drove along. Roland designed a tour just for us keeping our walking limitations in mind, but then was very accommodating to changing the tour as we went along. We had a great time with a very friendly and interesting guide, who also is a very careful driver. I would recommend a tour with Roland to everyone.
My family and I had three remarkable ToursByLocals tours in Greece, two in Santorini with Spiros (Pure Archeology and Santorini Wine Paths), and one in Athens with Diana (Best of Ancient and Contemporary Athens). Both guides were organized and professional with engaging personalities. Spiros vast knowledge of world history, archeology, and wine combined with his passion for Santorini and Greece made his tours interesting, informative, and fun. Akrotiri comes alive, and the local wineries are fascinating. Diana's tour took the sprawling city of Athens and curated it into a fascinating glimpse of Greek city life. In addition to touring the fabulous Acropolis Museum, we walked the streets to see ancient sites mixed with local shops. We toured the vast fish and meat market, enjoyed a unique cafe, and tasted local products at small shops. Wonderful experiences with both guides.
The moment we met Nita we knew we were in for a treat. This was exactly the tour I was hoping for: intimate, engaging, informative, unscripted, behind the scenes, with a passionate local who loves what she does and knows and cares deeply about the culture, history, peoples and future of New Orleans. Any suggestion she makes, be sure to take her up on it. I will surely tour with Nita again. She is a richly fascinating woman in her own right. This intimate walking tour is well worth the money.
The agency was very helpful in arranging a trip to Pompeii from Rome. The driver (Cosmo) and guide (Paolo) were both excellent! Made for a memorable day travelling Italy's Amalfi cost and getting some historical education at the same time.

One of the top tour guides that we have ever spent time with. This man knows his history and how to weave it all together. he explained how the Jews in history have managed and thrived in Portugal. He arranged a tour at the Synagogue with a representative at the Synagogue who concurred and detailed with additional information overlapping with Pedro as to the history of the Jews in Porto.
Alll in all, a day well spent learning about Porto.
Benjamin was an excellent guide who adjusted the tour to our needs. He is fully fluent in English and even made jokes in English. He is currently training other locals to be become guides and encourages locals in their endeavors (i.e. a local artist). Excellent customer service. Highly recommended. Very informative about the local culture and nature. Helped us through a border crossing. Gave us many options for activities. Very sociable and flexible. Arranged for local guides.
We were met promptly on arrival in Manaus from Anavilhanas by our guide Rodolpho, for a short tour of Manaus. Rodolpho arranged the smooth and practical meeting of the drivers so as not to waste time.
Friendly, good in English. Great tour in our rather limited time w meeting of the waters and floating village (super), opera and market. We were taken to the airport in good time for our flight.

We enjoyed a 5h visit of Johannesburg, mostly by car but was not a problem. Our very kind guide explained us the complete history of this city while doing a tour. Managed to visit museum africa, the city center and got to the top of the highest building for a great view. I definitely recommend you Lesley as a guide if you want to know all about this city in a short time frame. Also you will be impressed by how much she can teach you about most subjects. Chamrong was an outstanding guide and a very nice man and a master of the English language. 5 am he was waiting for us at our hotel, superior knowledge of all the dates/kings/religions and even helped us with the local language. Cold ice water was to be had throughout the day and we stopped for breakfast and lunch. Take this tour with him absolutely. All the off the beaten path temples: 1:sunrise at Phnom Bakheng 2: Banteay Srei 3:Phnom Bok 4:Banteay Samre 5: Ta Prohm 6: Banteay Kdei 7: Pre Rup sunset. When I come back to Siem Reap, I will be using tourbylocals.com.
Our time with Ashish was one of the highlights of our 2 weeks in India! We spent 5 days together (Golden Triangle). He arranged all transportation. His degree in Indian history really sets him apart. His English is perfect. He is energetic, and he knew how best to use our short time in each place (even with 2 teens). As a local, he took us off the beaten path. We hated to leave him behind as we traveled on to our next destination. He feels like a family friend. We've invited him to come visit us in the US

What an amazing day we had with Alvaro! We wanted to take a tour that was different than the norm. So glad we did. We drove to a wonderful olive mill that had been in the family since 1755. Ended up buying several bottles of oil and other things. Highly recommend. We continued on to Zahara and Ronda. Beautiful!! Alvaro's English was perfect. We enjoyed our conversations very much. Lunch was delicious with Alvaro explaining everything we ate. He took us to the Spanish Square. Wonderful way to end the day!
A full day out at Mt Fuji, Japan with Yoshide H, Yoshi was a wonderfully accommodating guide. He meticulously planned our day and was flexible on the day according to weather. His commitment to his customers is incredible. His communication prior to our tour was impeccable, he answered all my questions quickly and courteously. He accommodated a few changes I required with ease.

Francesca is an excellent tour guide. We booked a total of four Tours with her over the course of two days. My wife uses a wheelchair when we travel. Francesca was able to get us into all of the major attractions, bypassing lines and locating and getting elevator passage for us. She was invaluable and arranging for the transfer of our luggage from our hotel to our water transport at the end of our two days of touring with her. I highly recommend her as a Venice tour guide .
