Review: On April 8, 2013, a TruGreen Chemlawn employee was in front of our house, and they called our home, to ask if it was O.K. to do a weed & feed application. I told him no.Three days later, they did the lawn application, without notifying me. I called the local TruGreen office and reminded them that I was to be contacted prior to any service, to approve of any application. TruGreen told me that they assumed that we would want the service to be done, since they did the service last year. We did not sign any contract or agreement with TruGreen. Nor did we give them verbal approval to repeat last years service. I called the office to file a complaint that I was not notified or asked permission to do any lawn service. Two months later TruGreen did two applications without my consent. I called the local office again, and asked to speak to the office manager. I said that I would be willing to pay them 50% of the total bill, if they would send a revised bill reflecting the reduced amount due. A revised/reduced bill never came. On July 9th, I received 2 bills totaling $102.61 , along with a threat to turn my account over to a collections agency. I am not going to be intimidated into paying a bill for service that I did not authorize. Please do something, to stop these predators from doing business this way, and taking advantage of a senior citizen.

promised a call back by end of business day, still no one has called.Desired Settlement: full refund of yearly services paid

Response:

On 9/12/13 our service manager inspected the lawn. Weeds and a lawn damaging insect, called chinchbugs were detected. He arranged for a no charge service to be performed that day to address these issues. A service summary describing our findings and what we have done was left.

I have made attempts by phone and email to make contact with intentions of discussing and coming to an acceptable resolution. I have not yet made contact with the customer at this time.

I am rejecting this response because:

Review: I was a customer of TruGreen and cancelled the service and paid the final amount that they had stated was due. they subsequently sent out more invoices and continued to bill me even though I paid what I thought was the final bill. I am now receiving threatening final collection bills from their [redacted] office. The exact business account and branch # is [redacted] and branch # is [redacted]. I am 84 years old and do not want a bad credit report issued.Desired Settlement: No report to Credit Bureau for payments and/or bills that I do not owe.

TruGreen will notify the third party collection company to cease all collection activity regarding the balance of $181.22. Please allow 4 to 6 for all mailed notices to cease due to the collection company pre-prints its mail.

Review: Originally requested and received service for backyard (we were there on two occasions) and requested additional service to the front yard after that. The company cancelled the back yard and never applied the back yard grub control (which was the initial reason to get the service). They billed me for front yard grub control that I didn't need. They deny that they ever treated the backyard and have accused us of lying. They say their computer tells them what was done, but it is their employees who inaccurately enter (and alter) the records. The managers/customer service staff are extremely rude on the phone, but the service technicians who applied the back and then the front yard treatments were very pleasant.Desired Settlement: Apologize to us for calling us liars (we were there when they applied the back yard treatment) and work with us to rectify the problems (but it may be too late for this).

Review: This is in reference to from [redacted] of 8/25/2015 received 9/2/2015, regarding collection of [redacted] for services of Trugreen [redacted].This amount was disputed with Trugreen April 27th for the following reasons:Failed to perform Healthy Lawn Analysis as advertised. Failure to discuss results of Healthy Lawn Analysis with me prior to performing services. Services (listed on attachment) were not approved by me and were inappropriate for current status of lawn. Preemergent treatment was applied to my lawn which was planned to be seeded. This prevented me from seeding my lawn appropriately. (I have before and after photos noting damage to my lawn). Failure to calculate accurate square footage of lawn being serviced resulting in overcharging for services. (When I asked customer service how the square footage was calculated, they could not tell me).I complained to customer service regarding the above issues April 24th. I was assured that they would communicate to the area supervisor. I received a call April 28th from the area supervisor. I communicated my concerns. He assured me that he would come by and personally conduct the Health Lawn Analysis. He never came by and I never received the analysis. On May 19th I once again called Trugreen and voiced my complaint and cancelled my account. I also stated that I refused to make payment for services I did not authorize, and which destroyed my lawn. The customer services agent attempted to bargain with me, stating, How about you pay half of the costs? I stated, No.Subsequently, I have received bills each month for these services. Each time I have responded with a note that I refused to pay due to the above reasons. I also received multiple phone calls from Trugreen (caller ID) with no voice mail left. My last correspondence with Trugreen I asked them to stop making these phone calls, resulting in them referring me to Collection agency.Desired Settlement: I refuse to make payment for services provided without discussion with me and which impaired me from seeding my lawn.

Review: We have lived in our hous for 2.5 years. We used TruGreen's lawn services when we first moved in but found a friend who would do the same services for us within months so we called to cancel TruGreen. We spoke with someone directed who agreed to cancel service. Despite cancellation, TruGreen continued to show up and bill us. We wrote in to verify the cancellation of service and followed up with a phone call to avoid being billed for service we previously cancelled. We were told all would be taken care of and we did not get billed. But we continue to get phone calls from TruGreen trying to schedule and sell services despite multiple times telling them we cancelled and therefore are no longer interested. We have blocked their main phone number because of the many calls. This season (months later) we received an automated phone message (from a different number) stating that our scheduled service would be resuming on such and such date. I called yet again to say we cancelled! Although everyone I speak to on the phone when I cancel seems very accomadating, something within their system doesn't translate through and this company will not leave us alone!

Per your request, we have added your information to our internal Do Not Solicit list, which includes Do Not Call, Mail or Email. We have taken all steps possible from the corporate level and will do our best to ensure your request is honored to not be contacted by TruGreen in the future. Review: I prepaid $1,511.03 (by check) back in January 2013 (which was cashed) to TrueGreen for 7 lawn treatment services (to be administered between march - sept 2013) . They were scheduled to do our first treatment on April 8th. Didn't show, I called their office number but was bounced to a phone service who apologized and rescheduled for the 11th. Again, no show and no phone call so again I called them (same thing happened 2 more times after this) I requested a phone call from a supervisor or manager twice but never got that call. I told them if I didn't hear back I wanted to cancel my services and get a full refund since they are not able to provide services or even return a call. After looking online this evening I see that this is a problem across states. People have prepaid and not received their TrueGreen service or any resolution. I want my money back!

Subject: complaint # XXXXXXXX Trugreen Update

Hello

My name is [redacted] and I submitted a complaint against Trugreen Limited Partnership located in Danbury CT on April 23rd (# XXXXXXXX). Since filing my complaint I continued on my mission to try to get this resolved on my own. Through the help of of consumer complaints online I was able to find a direct contact from headquarters who I was finally able to reach. His name is [redacted], a Corporate Customer Care Manager in the Memphis TN headquarters . As of late yesterday, he has agreed to cancel my services and give me a full refund. I'm hoping this will actually happen! (see below)

I'm not sure if you've already tried to contact the company on my matter. If not, I do not want anything to jeopardize the fact that they are finally trying to resolve the situation. If you would, please email me back and let me know what has been done at this point of if it can be intercepted?

Thank you

XXX-XXX-XXXX (cell)

P.S. [redacted] was the name on my Complaint Case email I received this morning

Dear Mrs. [redacted],

Review: This business is the complete antithesis of customer service. I sent in my signed contract 17 days ago on May 5, 2013. My credit card was charged previously but I continue to receive calls, including last night, that the signed contract is not received. I have attempted to place a call to this office 6 times today. Every call ended up somewhere else in the county with the same story about my contract. Suggestions were made that I resend the contract without any effort to determine if it was actually received and what transpired. My requests to have my phone calls returned by the local office went unresolved. Customer service people just continued to transfer me to another location after telling me they would connnect me to the local office. After insisting on my sixth attempt that I be connected directly to the office, I was finally transferred to [redacted] in Danbury. [redacted] acknowledged that she had the contract on her desk and didnt understand why I was being called even though she hadnt put it into the system. I requested the local GMs e-mail address so I could report my concerns but she refused and suggested I issue the complaint on their web site. Perhaps someone in this organization should recognize that their disconnected solution is actually their problem. This was easily resolvable if one hand new what the other was doing and if people at the source answered the phone and addressed their customers needs. I did not issue this complaint on the website because its the public that should be aware of how poor their service is and how excruciating it is to rectify a problem with them.

Review: I have been using the Trugreen service for two years. My lawn is much worse now than when they started to treat it two years ago. After the first season didn't give me the desired results, I complained to them and they offered to aerate and seed my lawn free of charge. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt since they just started treating my lawn. This season, my lawn became even worse. I called to complain several times, and they respond with a "service call" where a technician comes out and re-apply's the treatment to the lawn. I specifically told them I wanted a manager to come out to my lawn and to issue me a refund because my lawn was in such terrible shape. The response from the technician was that I should aerate and seed (which I had done the week prior), and that the grass was dormant. Aside from that there were a plethora of weeds and dead grass (it wasn't dormant). So after that visit, I called to complain again. I stated that I wanted a refund for their service and that I was not satisfied with their product. They referred me to the local office. When I spoke with the manager at the local office, he said there was nothing he could do and that the Corporate office had to issue the refund. I am sick of getting the run around from them. It is at this point I felt it best to have the Revdex.com file a complaint.Desired Settlement: I want a full refund for all the 2015 services they provided to my lawn.

Business

Response:

TruGreen does not have a money back guarantee, our guarantee states, "TruGreen will gladly visit your property as often as needed between scheduled visits to make any necessary adjustments and to ensure your satisfaction." This account is cancelled so TruGreen is not able to service the property. As a gesture of customer service and to aide in resolution, TruGreen will refund the payments made for services completed in 2015, $354.63.

Sincerely,

Review: The debt sought naming [redacted] in the amount of $108.72 allegedly incurred during the year 2013 is not legitimate in its entirety based on a number of factors.Referencing Trugreen account # [redacted] the account has been in dispute since February 2013 as the lawn services alleged to have been provided in the year 2012 were either never furnished or were inadequate as our lawn has been in disarray since late fall 2012. In February 2013 we informed a Trugreen representative that we were not prepared to renew our contract as we wanted a Trugreen representative to inspect our lawn as we were not satisfied with the condition of the lawn that we had previously paid for in full, in spring 2012.Trugreen personnel informed us they would not be available till April to visit the property, as it was the off-season. Additional requests starting in April to have personnel view the lawn went unanswered until July 2013 at which time [redacted] a Manager with Trugreen visited the property. [redacted] acknowledged the lawn had faults and was informed we were not going to make payment for services alleged to have been provided in 2013. Additionally it was clearly communicated to [redacted] and representatives of Trugreen previously spoken too we were not prepared to renew the contract until a plan of action to fix the lawn was agreed upon without additional expenses incurred on our behalf. Had Trugreen personnel rendered services in the year 2013 amounting to $108.72 they did so voluntarily as they were never authorized to do so therefore we dispute the entire alleged debt.Desired Settlement: Settlement in the amount of $108.72. Request Trugreen withdraw demand for payment of lawn services in the amount of $108.72 and further withdraw/ close all contracts naming [redacted] with [redacted] Collection Agency. It should be noted for many years two independent accounts held by the undersigned with Trugreen accounts were paid in advance without hesitation. Had Trugreen serviced the lawn as in past years we would not be having this discussion.

Business

Response:

We have withdrawn our demand for payment of lawn services in the amount of $108.72 and further have stopped all collection proceedings through [redacted] Collection Agency for this balance. Additionally, I have spoke with Mr. [redacted] and discussed the possiblity of allowing us another opportunity to address his concerns on the property. He will let us know.

Response:

Sincerely,

Review: I was quoted $42.00 for initial visit to include weed control and fertilizer application over phone. Tech. who arrived to perform service told me that they also usually do grub control but felt it was unnecessary because it is late in season (August). After reading many negative reviews I decided to cancel the service (I did not sign any contracts). When I looked at my bank account I saw that I had been charged $137.11. I immediately called and the service rep. I spoke to told me that the charge was indeed $42.xx plus tax and came to $45.xx. When I asked why I was charged $137.11 she told me that they did the grub control which is an additional charge. I was home at the time and watched the tech spread one dry product and one liquid product. Further review of paperwork I received from the tech. shows that he billed me for the grub treatment.

My problem is that I was told the treatment was unnecessary (too late in season) but then he did (or didn't) do it anyway. My research has shown that grub treatment must be performed from April up to July 15 to be effective.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of $91.41

Business

Response:

We will refund back the $91.41 as requested by the customer. We are starting the process today for the refund. I have also left a message for the customer letting them know we will refund back the money.

We apologize for the inconvenience

Review: TruGreen needs to withdraw its bill and Collection Notice because of lack of service as promised. The facts are as follows:TruGreen has breached the agreement (dated 04/11/2013) and has failed to provide the services as promised by its door-to-door salesman Mr. [redacted]; thereby forcing me to cancel the agreement after only one lawn-treatment-application (LTA) of 04/24/2013 (cancellation #[redacted] dated 06/25/2013).Per original agreement, there were supposed to be a total of six LTAs at every 4 or 5 weeks intervals including the Grub Control. But for good 8 weeks there was no service and Grub Control was missing from the invoice. I tried to contact TruGreen numerous times leaving messages but no one had the courtesy to call me back. I even contacted TruGreen through its website but no response from there either. I was promised a full refund by Mr. [redacted] and Mr. [redacted] if the agreement was cancelled before second LTA. Because no refund was made by TruGreen as promised, I disputed the amount with [redacted] credit-card on 07/11/2013 and got the total $201.00 credited back to my credit card account on 08/05/2013.On 08/22/2013 TruGreen mailed me a Past Due Bill for $44.67 followed by a "Collection Notice" from [redacted].I think and believe that their claim is baseless and needs to be retracted. I made a full payment for the whole agreement in advance with an expectation of services as promised but TruGreen truly failed to keep its promises.

Product_Or_Service: Lawn Treatment Service

Account_Number: [redacted]Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

I will request that TruGreen should in writing:1. Withdraw this claimed bill as mentioned in complain above2. Retract the Collection Notice immediately3. Promise to make sure its actions have not adversely affected my credit rating in any which way.4. An apology will be appreciatedThanks.

Business

Response:

Upon review of the account, TruGreen will remove the balance of $44.67 from the outside collection agency and notify them to cease collection activities. It is not TruGreen's intention/policy to adversely affect our customers' credit rating; therefore, TruGreen does not report payment history to any credit bureau. TruGreen apologizes for any frustration or inconvenience.

Review: I signed and prepaid a lawn treatment agreement with TruGreen for 6 visits 1 every 6 weeks to apply fertilizer and any other chemicals needed to sustain a healthy lawn. The first visit was April 1 2013. The second was 8 weeks later on May 28 2013. The third was scheduled for July 9. That was a no show. Auto message left on my answering machine stated that they would be here on July 12. That too was a no show. I phoned them on Monday July 15 and I was told that they would be here the next day (July 16) and again that was a no show. I phoned them on July 17 and they said that they would be here the next day (July 18) and again that was a no show. I called this morning (July 19)asking to talk to a supervisor and I was told that there was no one there I could talk to and that a message would be left to return my call. It is now going on 8 weeks since my last visit and my lawn is showing its effect. Every time I call there I am always told that I am scheduled for the next day. This is totally unacceptable.

Review: Third year customer. Pre-paid via Visa $482.40 with tax in late Feb for annual seasonal service. called Danbury office Fri 4/26/13 to inquire when tech would arrive as weeds already coming up. Told that day. No show. Called Mon 4/29 and again told tech would be here same day. No show. Called Tue 4/30 early AM and told tech would be here. Explained to office I had now heard this 3 days in a row. Office said she'd call tech and I said okay but call me back to confirm or give new date. Waited over 4 hours, no call. Placed a call again and explained issues and to cancel service with refund. Switched to a supervisor or manager who at first said tech would be here today. I said too late and unbelievable, please process refund in amount of $482.40 to my Visa card. Asked for a confirmation number and given a lengthy series of letters. Sent two web site requests for assistance but no responses. Called nation wide number on Wed 5/8 to enquire status of refund. Agent said no refund had been authorized from Danbury. Agent said she would process the credit to my Visa and it should appear within a week to 10 days. I again asked if she was sure no previous refund processed and she said affirmative. How fouled up or devious is this Danbury franchise?

Review: I contact tru green to get an idea how much it would cost me to service my lawn . The rep told me its $ 58 and change per month you can terminate services whenever you want I made the comment that "that's expensive " he then stated that there is a special going on now for 29.95 , I repeated twice over the phone to make ,he said "yes" 29.95 is what's going to be charge to your account the rep said that they don't charge the account until the job is done. ok with all been said when I checked my account they pulled four time the amount I agreed to be taken out I was in disbelief , I immediately reached out to them , when I was been told that they would have listen to the phone recording before a refund can be made ,I ask how long would that take "24-48 hours" 48 hours past no response it was now about five days later someone called asking if I wanted to continue services the first one free I immediately turn down the offer I said all I need is the $113 extra That was stolen from my account the rep told me he is unable to honor my request he said he would put in another complaint . One week later they did not responded I then reach out when another rep mention that because I have discontinue service they will not give me a refundDesired Settlement: I need the extra money that I did not agree to returned.

Business

We will refund the $113.46 owed to the customer. we will start the refund today and apologize for any inconveneince.

Review: I want Trugreen to stop showing up and servicing my lawn. I have cancelled twice - last year and this year. This season they showed up unannounced and applied fertilizer. Since the serviced was performed, I paid the bill (probably shouldn't have but I always pay my bills). Next month they showed up unannounced and applied again - this time claiming they did 2 applications instead of 1 so there would be 2 bills for one trip out (this is a total ripoff in my opinion).

This double billing was the exact same reason I cancelled last year.

I have paid Trugreen for one service performed on 6-19-2015 ($51.82)Desired Settlement: Clear my account of the remaining balance due ($51.82) and do not contact me again or show up on my property.

Review: Trugreen and my contract was terminated on 10.09.12, which was of my choice due to misrepresentations from the company, mis-information and total lack of knowledge as to what

needed to be done for my yard.

After the company received my registered letter explaining all of this along w/my final payment for services rendered, a manager has called me, different managers, on three (3) separate

occasions to ask, "can you tell me what happened", and, "we would like to have you come back as a customer". One manager stated that she would note in the computer that I was not

interested in additional phone calls and have my name and number removed from future calls to my home.

I always explain that I an not interested in any futher contact from the company and, as my letter stated as well as my explaining this on the phone, I receive as many as six (6)

phone calls per day, seven (7) days per week. They start at 9:30 am and continue until 8:45 in the evenings.

Since my relationship w/this company was legally terminated, no outstanding monies are due to them from me, I am not interested in ever doing business w/them again, why is this

company continuing to harass me daily at home w/sales calls?Desired Settlement: This company and I have no relationship as of October 2012 and I want them to cease in contacting me asking me to return to them for services, which I would never do even if it was free for the

Review: On August 14, 2013 I spoke with a salesman from the TruGreen lawn service company and explained to him that I had numerous brown areas on my lawn and that the problem needed immediate attention.. He told me that TruGreen is a superior lawn service and would be able to address my problem. He assured me the following: 1. A qualified professional tech would walk over my property with me to point out the problem areas. 2. The tech would diagnose the problems that he noticed on the lawn. 3. The tech would indicate what needed to be done to fix the problems. 4. The tech would come back as often as necessary to make sure that all the problems were fixed. The salesman said that I could get a 10% discount if I signed up for a yearly contract. The entire amount of $348.62 was billed to my credit card on August 14, even before any actual work was done.

On August 19, the lawn tech came and looked at the brown areas on the front lawn. I asked him what was causing the problem and he said he wasn't sure. After staring at the lawn for about ten minutes he said that he thought it might be due to insects because he saw some flying around. He said that he could put some “stuff” on the lawn to fix the problem. I then asked him how much experience he had and he indicated that he was in the learning process. I asked if he would like me to have a different tech come to diagnose the problem and he agreed to that and left the property.

I called TruGreen several times after he left and spoke to several different people, each time explaining what had happened. I was assured repeatedly that the service manager would call me back to deal with the situation. I specifically indicated that I would cancel the contract if I did not hear from the service manager. After waiting several hours and not hearing anything from the service manager I called back again and asked if I could call the service manager myself. I was told that I could not do that, although no reason was given. One of the persons I talked to was Miriam who is an employee at a local TruGreen center in [redacted], Virginia.. She told me that she did not know the phone number of the service manager and therefore could not give it to me. I once again indicated that I would cancel the contract if I did not hear back from the service manager by the end of the day. She assured me that the service manager would call me back before the end of the day. The service manager did not call me back.

On August 21, 2013 I received a voice mail message indicating that TruGreen was scheduled to service my lawn tomorrow, August 22. I immediately called the TruGreen number and spoke to [redacted] in the retention department, direct number [redacted]. I again explained the entire situation and told him that I was canceling the contract, and that I did not want TruGreen coming to my property on August 22. He assured me that he would cancel the appointment and that he would have my money credited back to my credit card account.

Based on my disappointing experience with TruGreen, I searched the internet to find out anything about them. On the ConsumerAffair website I saw that there were 800 complaints about TruGreen, ranging from being billed for services not performed, inability to resolve issues, to actual destruction of the lawns they treated. Also, I found that 31 complaints against the [redacted] office have been filed with the Revdex.com.

For all of the above reasons, I feel that the contract with TruGreen has not been fulfilled and that I should not be held responsible for services not performed. As of August 21, 2013 no TruGreen representative has called me back; therefore, no resolution has been offered.Desired Settlement: To have the full amount returned to my credit card account.

Review: They came in to thicken our lawn and inturn destroyed what we had by continuing to spray and returned a refund less then our what we payed

We payed up front with this company 477$ to which they would thicken our lawn and help eliminate weeds they were called out numerous time for weeds returning and no growth in the seed they had planted and they continued to spray heavy chemicals killing what grass we did had and after numerous calls we requested a refund on there guaranteed service. Due to the fact I had to turn around and plant my own seed to which we now have growth and what refund we did get was 188$ we were very upset and feel full refund is due.Desired Settlement: We would like a full refund for poor services and damages to our yard

We are sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with the lawn care services provided by TruGreen. You signed up for our TruComplete Lawncare service on 8/10/14 at a cost of $455.01. Our TruComplete program includes 6 Weed & Fertilizer treatments, 1 Preventative Grub Treatment, and 1 Aeration and Over Seed Treatment. We provided your 1st Weed & Fertilizer application and Preventative Grub Treatment on 8/14/14. On 8/23/14 we did an Aeration and Over Seed Treatment. On 9/4/14 we returned to the property for a no charge service call to re apply weed control at your request. On 9/19/14 we again returned to the property for a no charge service call to re apply weed control. Per your request, we treated your yard 3 times in the course of 30 days to eliminate the weeds. This in turn made your yard look less than desirable. A lawn care program is designed to work over a period of time (usually a season) in order to get the desired results. We must first kill off the weeds in order to let the grass grow and thicken. We cannot acheive the results you desired in 30 days. You only received 1 of our 6 Weed and Feed applications. Our Aeration and Seeding is performed from Mid August to Late October based on ideal agronomic conditions during this timeframe. We do not guarantee germination of seed as we are not in control of the environmental conditions required for seed germination. Seed will not germinate if it is not watered on a daily basis by either the customer or natural rainfall. You called in and complained that we aerated and seeded during a dry period and you could not water. We refunded all the unused portion of the services we did not perform. We performed 1 weed and feed application, 1 aeration and seeding, 1 preventative grub treatment, and 2 no charge service calls in approximately a 30 day period. We do guarantee our programs which are meant to produce results over a full season of lawn care (9 months). Our lawn care program was given 30 days to produce results! We will refund all of your money but feel we did not provide poor service.

Review: Prepaid for aeration, seeding and lawn service. The aeration was only completed on front lawn. Requested service and the "specialist" sent agreed that there were no plugs found in the back yard. However, his equipment could not aerate the back yard. Letter to Office 11/14/11, to corporate office 10/10/12, letter to GM in [redacted] on 12/14/11. On 11/19/12 received a call from [redacted] who also provided me his cellphone number. He agreed to contact me in Februaary 2013 to schedule aeration and seeding. I attempted to contact 2/13 to schedule seeding because he had not contacted m. No response as of this date. My correspondence has requested a refund of the charge for seeding and aeration of $166.00. I have cancelled contract with TrugreeDesired Settlement: A refund of amount paid for aeration and to be remove from further calls from their call center.
