University Accounting Service, LLC (UAS) received the above-referenced complaint on May 9, 2016. On May 4, 2016, complainant called UAS to dispute the interest accrual on the account. At that time he was advised that this account does not use simple, monthly interest accrual; but rather these... accounts are assessed interest daily based on a 366 day calendar year for 2016. The billing period in question had 31 days. Based on complainant’s balance at that time of $1,796.37, interest accrued at $0.24541 per day multiplied by 31 days, which equals the $7.61 interest that complainant was accessed. Enclosed please find a loan overview document detailing the financial transactions that have taken place on the account. If complainant has further questions, he may contact UAS at 800-999-6227. Office hours are 7 am to 5 pm, CDT, Monday through Friday. Sincerely, [redacted]

Tell us why here...The borrower has one account serviced by UASAccount ID *** is a Federal Perkins student loan from Northern New Mexico CollegeAt some point following enrollment and the original grace period, the borrower requested forbearanceHe received forbearance for the
period 9/1/to 3/1/During forbearance, no payments are due but interest accrues and is due with the first payment following the forbearanceDuring Mr*** forbearance, $1,interest accrued on his $11,Federal Perkins loanAt the end of the forbearance period, he was not able to repay that amount in full and requested a temporary payment agreementHe was granted an agreement to pay $117/month for one yearThe payment agreement is not a permanent change in the terms of repayment or a loan modificationTherefore, the actual status of the account, as delinquent, is reported to credit bureaus along with the information that Mr*** is paying under a temporary payment agreementIn conjunction with the agreement, UAS also is reporting that Mr*** is scheduled to pay $each month and that he did pay that amount each month.Mr*** may contact this office to discuss a rehabilitation attempt on his loanHe would need to pay more, approximately $130.00/monthAfter he made consecutive payments of the rehabilitation amount, the account would be considered current and past credit history would be updated to show thisLoan Rehabilitation is a benefit of the Federal Perkins Loan Program; but each client sets its own standards for the repayment amount and conditionsAny rehabilitation request would need to be reviewed and approved by the client.Mr*** may contact UAS at 800-999-Office hours are am to pm, CDT, Monday through Friday
