uShip, Inc. Reviews (289)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted].  However, I have no evidence that my refund was processed.
Regards,
[redacted]

[redacted] contacted us initially and explained the nature of the issues he was experiencing with the carrier he booked with on our marketplace.  UShip refunded our fees shortly after hearing of the negative experience and the unfortunate events that unfolded.  The remaining fees which were due...

to the carrier were left intact in order for [redacted] and his carrier to negotiate a fair price.  Our agents kept thorough written communication and assisted with the payment negotiation while remaining neutral to both parties as stated in our user agreement.  Both sides debated their desires to reach an amicable solution.  We provided account credits which both users could utilize on the site for future shipments to help guide the negotiation to a resolution.  As the dispute escalated uShip then refunded [redacted] fully for the cost of the transport on the site, in addition to providing account credits which ultimately surpassed the total cost of transport.  As a neutral marketplace uShip was not liable for the damages and repairs required to the trailer.  However made valid efforts to assist in this dispute by providing mediation efforts between the two parties and fully refunding [redacted] for the transportation costs on the site.  We also provided details and support to [redacted] on applying for our Ship with Confidence Guarantee we offer for situations involving damage such as this.  We have yet to receive an application, but are ready to help if he applies.

CT will not accept a dispute for a shipment being late because the shipment’s transit time were not guaranteed.  They do not offer a guaranteed shipping time, only an estimate.  CT advised [redacted] to dispute the portion of the charge that is paid to uShip since they do not offer this guarantee on their service.  Had [redacted] selected a transportation service provider that offered a guarantee on delivery times we would gladly assist with disputing the charges that come through our end to that independent entity, which is a common courtesy we provide for those bookings.

I am rejecting this response because: uShip.com is holding money that does not belong to them.Their service provider has failed to cooperate and made nothing but threats to me and uShip continues to use them as there provider. Since they are holding the money I paid what do they plan on doing with it ?keeping it? I would like my money refunded immediately . I will also be contacting the attorney general’s office regarding this company. They make false statements in their Advertising and take people for their money. It’s obvious that they do not want to resolve this matter and just pass it on to somebody else.

uShip does not verify claims made by it's members. We are very clear about this in our User Agreement. What happened is very open to interpretation with the two parties in complete conflict of one another and without uShip being present, we have no way of knowing which version is closer to the truth. Furthermore, we do offer cargo insurance for purchase. The customer declined this insurance and clearly did not request proof of the carrier's insurance prior to pickup. While there is no denying that this customer had a very negative experience, there were precautions that he could have taken and chose not to. uShip did not damage the item and uShip does not have access to the documents that the customer seeks. Therefore, there is truly nothing further we can do.

We cannot determine exactly what happened off-site or why the provider had to cancel, but we do see that the provider is accurate in stating that a listing was created yesterday as evidenced by this URL: http://www.uship.com[redacted] Regarding the refund, it was processed just this morning. Depending on the customer's bank, it may take 1-4 business days to appear.

Revdex.com:
I have discussed the business practices and disclosures with U-Ship and they agreed that their disclosures were lacking and confusing and have stated that they would consider some changes to their procedures.  They were also up front and honorable with a modest credit due to the confusion. This is the caliber of company that deserves high ratings from the Revdex.com and a commendation for their quick resolution. The response made by the business in reference to ID [redacted] is acceptable and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Regards, and thank you to the great folks at Revdex.com for always looking out for us small folk....

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:1. I am aware of UShip's position. My point is that the position adopted is a) morally wrong, b) shows a reckless disregard for public safety, c) remains subject to the law of negligence which cannot be contracted out of - and I would suggest the receipt of money for a service does create a duty of care to myself as a customer, d) allows UShip to be unjustly enriched and e) chooses to have a rating system that overstates the performance of shippers. See the sixth bullet in point 3 below.2. Having been forewarned by myself and others about criminal actors using UShip, UShip will not escape blame when a customer is robbed, beaten, raped or killed by someone who has a long criminal history (see [redacted]) or is working illegally and when medically unfit (see [redacted]). If UShip is so happy about its legal position and is such a good American company, why does it not have a message on its booking screen saying: "WE HAVE NO IDEA WHO IT IS THAT WILL BRING YOUR GOODS TO YOU. IN FACT, MAYBE THEY WON'T BRING YOUR STUFF AT ALL AND WILL JUST STEAL IT. OR DUMP IT IN THE STREET. OR MAYBE THEY WILL ARRIVE AND WILL EXTORT MORE MONEY TO GIVE YOU YOUR PROPERTY. IF THAT'S TOO MUCH TROUBLE THEY MAY JUST BEAT YOU AND TAKE YOUR WALLET, OR SEXUALLY HARASS YOUR DAUGHTER, AND KILL YOUR CAT. WE DON'T KNOW! AND WE JUST DON'T CARE. IT'S YOUR PROBLEM NOW. OH AND BY THE WAY, THANKS FOR THE MONEY YOU PAID US".  3. UShip has no regard for the FTC's eCommerce guidelines which state inter alia:- Consumers who participate in e-commerce should be afforded transparent and effective consumer protection that is not less than the level of protection afforded in other forms of commerce.- Businesses should manage digital security risk and implement security measures for reducing or mitigating adverse effects relating to consumer participation in e-commerce.- Businesses engaged in e-commerce should pay due regard to the interests of consumers and act in accordance with fair business, advertising and marketing practices as well as the GENERAL PRINCIPLE OF GOOD FAITH [my capitalization].- Businesses should not exploit the special characteristics of e-commerce to hide their true identity or location, or to avoid compliance with consumer protection standards and/or enforcement mechanisms.- Businesses should not offer, advertise or market, goods or services that pose an unreasonable risk to the health or safety of consumers.- Online disclosures should be clear, accurate, easily accessible and conspicuous so that consumers have information sufficient to make an informed decision regarding a transaction.4. It's ok. It is clear UShip is mercenary and does not give a damn. I am appalled and disgusted but sadly not surprised - the last driver I complained about had actually been locked-up (and certainly not for the first time it turned out when I obtained his background records) en route to pick up my property. UShip would rather people get hurt then implement basic safety steps. In the interests of the public good I will do my best to advise congress about this exploitative behavior - that is much more important than my own individual circumstances. You can beat your as they will care, because you can't run for cover or shirk responsibility when somebody says "I told you so".

uShip does not arbitrarily send invoices for additional charges. If an additional charge was assessed, it was assessed by the carrier. not uShip. uShip simply processes the charges. Based on the customer's files, I find that we've requested documentation that would allow us to dispute the charge on...

the customer's behalf multiple times beginning in April and we have yet to receive that documentation. The customer is currently communicating with [redacted] in the LTL department and it appears that he is close to getting us the necessary documentation. Once we receive that, we can help. Our suggestion is to continue working with [redacted] and his chosen carrier.

I am rejecting this response because:Uships rating system does not reflect the true satisfaction of its users, cannot be relied upon, and therefore is false advertising.  People use Uship because they want to use a carrier that is vetted by Uship as per the users recommendations.  Their rating system does not reflect the negative experiences that I have had.  I am concerned about their lack of response trying to get the carrier that promised delivery to perform as required.  Instead of making the carrier honor the agreement, they say I should cancel.  This is not an acceptable response.  As my situation stands I have contracted with Uship (they took my money, not the carrier) in exchange for a service but they have not performed as advertised.  They say I should terminate my agreement with them but I want them to honor the agreement.  This is not a reputable response to a problem.

Here is the update for the Northrup complaint: As of Monday 4/17, the customer is still working with our support staff. The latest email from the customer let us know that he filed an insurance claim and his claim is pending. John was refunded in full from uShip as of 4/11.

I am rejecting this response because: The merchant is ignoring all applicable law. Terms and conditions that violate federal and state law are invalid. I suggest the merchant have their attorney contact us to discuss a settlement. We have filed a complaint with the Texas Attorney General and will request an investigation of their fraudulent business practices; specifically violations of the Texas Business and Commerce Code. Realy, guys, you took our money and delivered nothing. And now you're trying to justify why you don't have to give the money back??? Is this how a reputable business operates? Shame on you Revdex.com for giving these fraudsters an A+. It's an outrage.

As stated in the previous response, Mr. [redacted] must apply for the guarantee by following the appropriate steps listed in the link provided by [redacted]. We cannot simply send someone money without the proper process being followed. Furthermore, our guarantee states that we will compensate up to $500 for damages, not $550 and we clearly state what steps must be taken in order to qualify. The customer should take note and [redacted] will be more than happy to assist him with that process.

First off, the User Agreement that all members agree to in order to create an account on our platform states that uShip has the right to hold or suspend and account at any time for any reason (Sec 18). The customer has been working with our Trust and Safety department to work through issues with...

multiple shipments. There have been multiple policy violations including issues with the carrier's federal authority. Our Trust and Safety department has reached out to several customers to check on the status of the shipments as this account is held. Ultimately our staff has the right to determine if an account is a good fit for uShip or not. In regards to the "Scams", I am not sure what the customer is referring to. I would encourage him to reach out to our staff and explain those situations so we can look into these issues.

I am rejecting this response because: It seems odd that Uship will not refund the total amount of my payment. They have acknowledged that they have had no response from the carrier. How long do I have to wait until they decide that the possibility of me getting my shipment is zero. What is the reason for not refunding all of my paymnet. As it stands now, I have lost the value of the shipnet (over $700.) and also part of the payment for transportation that never occurred. UShip should refund the total amount of the payment. Police reports cannot be filed at the present because I am in Florida and the shipment originated in New Jersey. Complaints have been filed for fraud with the Revdex.com in the carriers area, the Federal Motor Carrier authority and the Florida dept of Consumer affairs. A full refund should be made.

I am rejecting this response because: All I hear is excuses. I have tried everything in my power to locate the provider. 1. contacting U-Ship which was no help 2. by social media 3. I should not be having to explain every detail of my life in order for U-ship to assist in this problem.
