Complaint has been forwarded to the appropriate claims supervisor for investigation and response

I am writing in response to Mr***’s inquiryThe above policy was purchased on 11/21/with an effective date of 12/7/State Auto requires payment at the time of purchase and a payment of $4,was applied to the credit card entered on the policy. The policy was flat cancelled on 11/28/and the $4,was released back to the customer’s credit card on 11/29/There can be a few days lag time between banks before the funds appear back on the customers card. The difference of $is from an Automobile Burglary and Theft Prevention Authority Fee that is charged by the state of TX not State AutoBecause the policy was flat canceled that fee has also been waived and an additional refund of $is being sent to the insured’s credit card tomorrowAgain please expect a few days lag time. Please let me know if you have further questions.Thank youKate B [redacted] Customer Service Supervisor IIState Auto Insurance CompaniesPhone: [redacted] | Fax: ###-###-####

[redacted] I am in receipt of your reply dated January 13th Here is my response: The claim that you make regarding [redacted] stating that “the only area that actually sustained wind damage was to the front main slope” is inaccurate There is also damage to the rear of the house and that was clearly pointed out to [redacted] and [redacted] as I was present during both inspections and showed it to them personally The damage is still there and clearly visible upon inspectionSo this argument is fallacious The claim that you make regarding [redacted] stating that “He also indicated that the roof was installed with staples and that some slippage had occurred in some places, due to this installation issue” is a half truth [redacted] went on to state that this was not only common practice in when my roof was installed, but that staples also met the roof tile manufacturers installation guidelines at the time So your argument that I have roof tiles that were improperly installed is specious as it relies on a standard that was not in place when the roof was originally installed Due to this discrepancy in the communication I have received from your expert and the claim settlement I am requesting documented proof that the installation of my roof was not consistent with my roof tile manufacturer’s recommendations in as you now assert An alternative explanation for the tile slippage is that my roof was weakened in the destructive hail storm that hit [redacted] on March 31st of After that storm is when tiles began to come off one of the dormers on the front of my house (part of the proposed repair in your estimate) I replaced a number of these tiles myself on this dormer as it was easy to access This issue was discussed with both [redacted] and [redacted] at the time of their inspections During one of these “do-it-yourself” repairs I performed in I noticed a large amount of aggregate in the gutter and was told that this was an indication my roof had sustained considerable damage from the storm A local roofer said I needed a new roof At that time I informed State Auto of this and they sent someone to inspect my roof This should be in your records The inspector did not find any evidence of hail impacts hard enough to leave circumferential speckling, but did find excessive aggregate in the gutters indicating damage sufficient to reduce the life of the roof I would contend that State Auto, by forgoing roof replacement then, has only delayed the problem and now wishes to limit their financial exposure a second time by placing the burden on me again (the policyholder) The claim that you make, [redacted] , regarding “A matching shingle, to your original shingles, is still available” seems suspect to me and is inconsistent with your own expert’s ( [redacted] ) advice [redacted] told me personally that replacing a section of my roof would, even with the same brand and color, almost certainly would ead to a mismatch in color as there is not only variation from batch to batch in the manufacturing of the tiles, but also my roof’s color has changed due to exposure to sunlight As this is a half million dollar home your proposal to patch my roof will actually hurt the value of my home due to the likelihood of a mismatch in tile color [redacted] , I am fully willing to testify in a court of law about the statements I am making about the discussions I had with [redacted] and *** As someone who has had insurance with State Auto for nearly three decades now, have paid probably fifty times more in premiums than I have taken out due to claims, and who still pays more in two years (home and auto combined) than it would cost to replace this roof, I have to say I am sorely disappointed in how this claim is being handled I pay a lot of money to State Auto for homeowner’s insurance for a reason That reason is to have my losses covered in the event of an incident such as this State Auto’s attempts to misdirect, mislead, and shift responsibility to me are unacceptable and bad business practice At this point I do hereby authorize State Auto to communicate any necessary confidential information about my policy, claims, contracts and personal correspondences with the Revdex.com as I seek a fair settlement to this issue Sincerely, [redacted]

We are in receipt of the complaint that you filed with the Revdex.com dated June 22,You inquired as to why we made payment to the other party when you felt you were not responsible for this occurrenceWe have reviewed the facts and circumstances of this occurrence and the handling of this claimOur adjuster talked with you and obtained information from you about this occurrenceYour statement was that you were traveling approximately miles per hour and the vehicle in front of you was about one car length ahead of you when it slammed on its brakesWe also talked with the other party involved, observed the accident location on the google maps, and we reviewed the police report made of this accidentOur review of the scene shows that at the location of this intersection there is one lane travel for each direction; North and SouthYour vehicle and the vehicle in front of you were traveling in in the same northerly directionThe point of contact between the vehicles was the right front section of your vehicle and the left rear section of the other vehicleThe police report shows contributing factors on your vehicle for following too closeThis does correspond with your statement that at miles per hour you were approximately only one car length behind the vehicle in front of youThe other party was marked with no apparent improper drivingFor these reasons we have concluded this claim by paying the damages to the other vehicleShould you wish to discuss this further, please feel free to contact me

I am responding to the above inquiry from Mr [redacted] I contacted Mr [redacted] of the [redacted] Insurance Agency in regards to the cancellation of [redacted] ’s auto policy Here is Mr [redacted] ’s email:Hi ***: MrT [redacted] advised me to cancel the policy whenever he would have a policy issued in his name but when I requested his information he did not give it although he was well aware the policy had to be changed/cancelled, but said he would call us back with his informationI am cancelling the policy now but was never told to do so by Mr [redacted] , he just demanded his bank overcharge be reimbursed since the money was not in his accountSince Mrs [redacted] has passed there is no way to get the policy signed by the policy ownerThe policy is cancelled as of 11/13/Thank you,Scott [redacted] Scott [redacted] Insurance AgencyWith the policy being cancelled effective 11/13/there is a $balance due which we have invoiced for due by 12/6/ However Mr [redacted] advises that he has sent a ‘loss policy release’ for Mr [redacted] to sign and return to have the policy cancelled prior to 11/13/ Also Mr [redacted] will need to provide proof of other coverage in order to have the cancellation date backdated If he would like to discuss the cancellation date, please have him call Mr [redacted] at the above phone number. As far as Mr [redacted] requesting reimbursement of bank fees, State Auto won’t be paying those fees because the policy was still active This policy has been paid monthly by EFT (electric funds transfer) since inception in State Auto had not been advised to stop the EFT deductions until Mr [redacted] called us on 11/16/ We did stop future EFT deductions per Mr [redacted] s request on 11/16/and changed the policy to monthly direct bill. Please let me know if you have further billing questions on this policy Thank you Kate B [redacted]
