Yellow US Pages Reviews (133)

Review: On September *, 2013, a collection representative by the name of [redacted] with Yellow US Pages, contacted our company via phone and demanded payment for an invoice for a service that was never agreed upon. She did not have a signed contract but said that she had a verbal contract from one of our employees. I asked the employee and she said that she denied their services and never agreed to it. In fact, she stated that the representative from Yellow US Pages was rude. [redacted] sent me an invoice via email and said that she would contact a third party collection agency if we didn't pay. I did some research on the internet and found this to be a scam, and thus, I've contacted the Revdex.com to file a formal complaint.Desired Settlement: I would like for them to stop contacting us as we never agreed to this service. It is a shame that there are companies out there that expect payment for services under such fraudulent circumstances. Thank you.

Review: Several months ago my wife, who is disabled and taking medications that affect her ability to work received a phone solicitation from Yellow US Pages. My wife agreed verbally to service in which offered to provide Yellow Page listing of my business for a two month trial period, which she misunderstood was also a binding agreement for a paid service for a year of $719.99. Subsequently, we have received a call from [redacted] demanding payment as well as a faxed copy of the invoice. My wife was told that we could find listing of my business on the internet. We could find no evidence of such a listing, nor was it provided by Yellow US Pages. Upon speaking with [redacted], she insists that we pay for this service, which we have not evidence of being provided, which was obtained from my sick wife, who suffers from [redacted]. I find this conduct to be predatory and am thus, filing this complaint.Desired Settlement: I wish to have Yellow US pages withdraw its demand for payment and to take no further action.

Review: I received an unsolicited phone call (although my number is on the Do Not Call list)from a high pressure salesman about their outstanding ability to place my company at the top of major search engines. They said I could receive a 2 month free trial. Then they said I had to cancel within 2 months or I would be billed. I thought that kind of 'contract' was illegal. Of course, I (like I'm sure many other busy business owners) forgot about the 2 month cancellation policy. I received a bill for $719.99 and called them/wrote them requesting cancellation because their "service" did not provide me with any new business or even any new contacts from prospective customers. They would not cancel and now they are turning me over to collection. I just filed a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General's office because I thought that those types of 'contracts' -- where if you don't cancel you are stuck -- were illegal.Desired Settlement: cancellation of this useless service and not making me pay for something I don't want and that has not provided me with any new business or even any new inquiries from potential new customers. Their "trick" of two months free trial is designed based on the fact that most busy people forget about their cancellation policy.

Review: I received a phone call stating we owe $719.99 for Yellow pages , I told them that I have not authorized no advertisment, They ask me for an fax number to send me an invoice . I received the invoice and call the company. [redacted] is one man shop we are an small company my mother and I run this shop. We could not afford no adverstiment when we are closing our doors , they is no sense to get any adversiment . I spoke with a representative that put a recording conversation so I heard it were I could tell that a 10 to 12 year playing store manager by the name of [redacted] agree to the charges. The representative on the phone never ask the person who supposed to agree to the charges what is your company Employee Id number , what is your business address, business phone number, company email , what your company EIN number. The representative keep stating information of the company without even confirming that was talking with the actual manager. We have phone lines that our customer used . Yellow pages should ask questions , insteading giving our information to confirm who answer the phone all what they did display our company information and who answer the phone answer by yes.

1- We dont haveDesired Settlement: This company to eliminate the charges that we did not authorized.

Hello good morning

We have not reicive response from the yellow pages

Thanks

Review: I have no recollection of the contact to which the company refers. A recording which sounded like my voice was presented as verification of my agreement to participate in a free two month trial. At that time, I experienced disbelief and challenge that I would ever agree to the kind of advertising that the company claimed I owed $700 plus for services rendered and failure to cancel before renewal.

In thirty five years of business I have refused all offers of advertisment using Yellow Pages or [redacted] or [redacted] or any other Media because I felt it could not offer a clear depiction of what my company could do. That our performance was very specific and could not be generalized. Our entire career has been ruled by person to person face to face sales practices.

I take offense to the attitude and threats that this company has inflicted on us. Threats of continued harassment from third party collection and additional compounding charges where made from a company that ,as of less than a week ago, I had never heard of. When I asked if the advertisement even existed, I was directed to a site which had a wrong name and a telephone number on it and didn't even say what we did.Desired Settlement: That the company drops any claim of charges owed them for any service.

Sincerely,

Review: The Yellow US Pages wanted to list our small business in their online service. There was a two month free trial period and we did not call in on time to cancel the subscription. We do not want the service and never wanted the service. Unfortunately it was easier to say yes to their pressure than to say no. Now, I have been told that they have sent two invoices (one week apart from each other) that I have not paid - the amount is for $60.00/month for 12 months, plus interest and administrative fees which total $770.80. Although they may have sent them, I do not recall receiving these invoices. I was told a third invoice has been requested to be sent. I told them I do not want the service and want out of their subscription. I never agreed to pay them for the whole year in the first place, but if I do owe for a month, I would be willing pay for that month if they would prorate the amount. By the way, I am the owner of the business and they spoke to my wife with the sales call. I was told they do not and will not prorate any amounts and that I was responsible for the entire amount and I should pay before it goes to collections and things get worse for me. When I asked again about paying just the month, I got a different answer. I was told that in order to keep their customers happy, they would be willing to accept a one time payment of $599.99 to pay for the whole year. However, to take advantage of this generous offer I needed to pay the balance with my credit card over the phone at that moment. If I sent a check, it would go to a different department and they wouldn't know of this special offer, and therefore, not accept the special amount. I became very suspicious when I was told I needed to use my credit card right away over the phone. I did not do this because of the safety issue and because I never agreed to these amounts. I never saw a contract or anything in writing and I never signed anything agreeing to these terms or conditions. I asked one more time about prorating and to speak to a supervisor, I was told I would receive a call within the hour. It has been over a day and I have not yet received that call. After my last conversation with the company, it sounded like one of the full payments was expected - $599.99 or $770.80. Again, I never agreed to this or saw anything outlining this in writing or signed anything.Desired Settlement: The desired outcome would be for my business to be dropped from their listing and not have to pay the bill. I don't want to be a part of Yellow US Pages.

Sincerely,

Review: In early 2013 our business received a phone call from the Yellow US Pages. They were offering a free two-month trial to a "top ten" program (whatever that is?). I was under the impression, because I specifically asked, that the the trial was self-canceling and that I wouldn't have to call to cancel. I confirmed this with the representative. As the assistant to the owner I don't have the authorization to sign us up for anything that costs money. I believed that this was the original Yellow Pages who we do advertise with. So I was just taking them up on an offer from a company we already did business with. This phone call was then transferred to another representative who told me I would be recorded to iron out certain details -- primarily my name, my position, company information and the like. They gave me a password and username to their website and that was the last our business heard from them until about a month ago. At that time our business received a rather hostile phone call claiming we had a set number of late fees and we owed them for a year of service. They also said they would remove the late fees if we payed over the phone immediately. My boss was out of the country at this time, so I had to relay this information to him between a series of phone calls with both the Yellow US Pages and my employer. I asked to listen to the audio recording they had of me confirming our interest in their product and asked them to send a physical invoice as well. My boss told me that we should deal with it when he returned, which is why I am writing today. Three weeks or so after I had talked to the Yellow US Pages we received their bill in the mail, which claims we owe them for a year of service with a number of late fees on top of their monthly service charge. Then about a week ago we received another few phone calls from them asking about payment. Yesterday they called once more. I told them that I would have to wait for my employer to come back before I could discuss it with them further. I told them we would call back later this week. However, it is my belief that this whole scheme is fraudulent. I believe the audio recording they have of me has been altered to a prerecorded voice that has me agreeing to something I did not sign up for and that the contract conversation was not provided to me which included my inquiring about the nature of this contract. I would also like to point out the fact that we received no notice of any form from this company until I requested it five weeks ago. I have looked into this company and have found dozens of similar cases revolving around the same issues I have stated. In fact, we cannot even find a listing for our business in the Yellow US Pages.Desired Settlement: Cancellation of service at no charge.

Response:

Thank you for forwarding [redacted]’s complaint to my attention. Here at Yellow US Pages, we understand the importance customer satisfaction to any business and are therefore more than happy to work with our clients in order to ensure that they are pleased with the services we provide.

I have reviewed this information and must disagree with [redacted]’s claim.

We have on file, a recorded verbal authorization with [redacted]. In this recording, the representative verifies that he is authorized to place this order and explains quite clearly that the service is on a two month trial period and that they are responsible for contacting our Customer Service Department at any time during those sixty days, in order to cancel their listing.

The cost of the service, should they chose not to cancel the listing is also very clearly stated by the representative. The Customer Service toll free telephone number is openly provided on this recording, as well as a username and password for him to make any changes to his listing.

At no time during the sixty day trial, did we receive a call requesting cancellation.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID#[redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

According to their invoice our year long subscription started in March, our first contact from them was in the early weeks of May. If we had received notice closer to March when we were enrolled in this we would have canceled immediately. Our first communication from them since the original sign up was a dunning phone call. We never received an invoice prior to this call. Based on this company's internet reputation they have obviously been taking advantage of small business owners. We claim that their business practices were misleading and meant to take advantage of peoples forgetfulness.

In our initial discussion I definitely asked whether we would have to call back and cancel this service or not and was told I would not have to but I could call back and sign up for a subscription if we benefited from this service. The first person I talked to promised I would not have to call to cancel and this along with the rest of the service they described to me was not in the recorded conversation.

My authorization only goes so far as to accepting free services and that's where my claim for authorization came from. I ,however, do not hold the ability to accept services we have to pay for and therefore do not have the authority that I claim to have in this recorded message. I was under the misunderstanding that this was a service I would only have to pay for if we decided to contact them after the free two month trial and signed up for a year subscription.

We want this service cancelled immediately to make it clear that we do not want this service and have received no benefit from it. Nor have we received any proof of this service during our free trial or our subscription period.

Sincerely,

Business

Respectfully,

Review: I was contacted by this company for a "free" 90 day advertising trial with the instructions that as long as the service was cancelled prior to 7/*/13, we would not be billed for services. I wrote everything down that was given to me by "[redacted]" from this call and made a note on my calendar to cancel the service, if we had no response from the ad. She had given me information for online access, which I set up on 6/**/13 and at that point contacted the business through the website to request cancellation. I have a copy of the screen, which stated "Thank you for contacting us. One of our representatives will get back to you within 24 hrs." I understand that this company does not honor cancellation requests online, which is fine, but I did not receive a response as it stated. After not receiving a response by 7/*/13, I phoned the company and noone answered but I was allowed to leave a message and asked that they call me back. Again, no response. After having saved the "screen shot" of my online access in my email, I thought that I had sufficient proof that I had attempted to contact them and then forgot all about the situation until receiving a bill via fax on 8/**/13. At this time, I typed up a letter and faxed it along with my other information to the fax listed for [redacted]. I informed her on the cover page that we would not be paying the bill and would be contacting the Revdex.com if this was not resolved. I received no response for 4 days and again faxed the information on 8/**/13, along with a follow up phone call, in which I asked [redacted] to return my call. Again, nothing. Finally, 9/*/13, [redacted] phoned me to again say that our invoice was past due and would be sent to collections. I informed her that we would not be paying the bill as I had attempted to contact them multiple times and gotten no response. She informed me that it did not matter, as it was clearly stated on the first phone call that you cannot cancel online. She also stated that we received a bill prior to the trial period expiring, which stated that we could call and cancel at that time. I did not receive any bill at this time. The fact of the matter is that I attempted to contact them and received no response. This is VERY poor customer service and in my opinion this company is very shady and is out to make money in a dishonest manner.Desired Settlement: We are simply asking for the company to mark our account as paid so we can be finished with this entire situation.

Review: The company claims that we agreed to advertise with the (Yellow US Pages); they claim that to have a recording of me ([redacted]., Pres. of the Red Door Bed and Breakfast Corp. agreeing to their advertising. I did not agree to an account with them, and if they have a recording it has been doctored to indicate my affirmation. We have a very small budget for advertising, and I am not impressed with yellow pages as an advertiser. We have a web site; we are members of a B&B association, and that is it as far as advertising goes.We are a very small operation with only two rooms to sell, and they are in our home. We do between 90 and 100 room nights a year and are not looking for the type of expansion that a national advertising campaign would be appropriate for. I have read on the internet that yellow pages US is a scam, that they make these recordings, then bill you, and hope that you will pay. If you don't they threaten to ruin your credit rating. I am not willing to pay them a dime for something I feel sure I did not order. I have complained to the attorneys general of Texas and New York.Desired Settlement: While I resent the harassment that we have been subjected to, I do not seek any redress, merely a cessation of their calls and threats and bogus invoices.

Sincerely,

Review: YellowUSPages called our company asking to update our information for their website, which our new employee agreed to do. After receiving all of our addresses and phone numbers, they told our employee that it was a 2 month free service with a 60 days to cancel. Our employee was unable to finish the phone call with them due to another phone call coming in, so YellowUSPages called back at a later point and spoke with the same employee. At this point, the employee realized that the "service" would carry a fee, and said that she was not authorized to give approval. YellowUSPages then transferred her to another representative for a "harder sell", which relayed that she could not agree to the service. A few months later, YellowUSPages faxed our company a bill, which we immediately faxed back that we did not want the service and to cancel any service. A few months later, we were again contacted for payment on the service, which we again stated we did not want. YellowUSPages played back a recording of the phone call that our employee and their representative had which has our employee stating "yes" to each question, agreeing that she was authorized to subscribe to the service, and that she knew the amount was $60 a month paid yearly in full, and that she was given all confirmation numbers in full. The recording does not show the other phone call coming in that interruped the first call or anything with the second call where the employee declined the service. The reply "yes" to each question sounds exactly the same including background noise, which sounds completely fabricated. The employee was shocked and sickened by the recording - she is incredibly honest and has incredible integrity. She said that she never would have ever agreed to any service or subscription where a fee was involved, nor does she believe she has the authorization to do so. When she spoke with the YellowUSPages after hearing the recording and mentioning the other phone call, the YellowUSPages told her that they would be referring the amount to a collection company and hung up on her.Desired Settlement: We did not authorize any activity with this company and we will adamantly oppose the fraudulent charges.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]

[redacted],

Enclosed is our check in payment-in-full of your Invoice [redacted].

We are, as you know, very angry and upset about how this deal went down; we feel that we were scammed by your telephone boiler room solicitors, and that the recording you possess to back your collections claim is incomplete as well as erroneous. However, the cost of fighting this act of business-to-business robbery exceeds the amount of your bill, so we have chosen to pay it.

I suspect that many of your other collections clients have done the same, for the same reason.

Evidently, we are not alone in our feelings. Your company name appears with great frequency from many other angry people and businesses whose complaints are virtually identical with ours

-- on Revdex.com.org's "Yellow Pages Look-A-Like Scams" blog, [redacted] and many other similar sites on the internet. The number of direct complaints on file with the New York Metro Revdex.com is also very large; [redacted] makes finding these things quick and easy, although too late to have prevented this transgression with Beckony. You should be ashamed to be associated with such a shady operation as Yellow US Pages.

With your receipt of this payment, please discontinue the "service" you provide and close our Yellow US Pages account once and forever. Further, please send to me, personally, an e-mail or fax to confirm from you in writing that you have received this letter, that our account is closed, and that we will never hear from you or your boiler room sales team again.

Sincerely,

[redacted], V.P./Administration

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Review: This company sent us a collection notice . We have never contracted with them but they stated they called our office and spoke to the clinic manager and was given the okay to place an ad in the Yellow US Pages. Our clinic manager is the owner (myself). I never spoke to them nor did I give any authorization for them to place an ad in the Yellow US Pages. I had another one of my employees call and they stated they spoke to [redacted] from our clinic and was given the okay from her. They stated they had her permission as the “clinic manager” to place the ad. I spoke to that employee about this and she stated that they called and were very rude to her. She informed them that she DIDN'T have authority to place the ad nor was she the clinic manager and the owner was not available at that time. I was told Yellow US pages had a recorded message from that conversation with my employee stating she was the clinic manager and had the authority to place the ad. When I called to hear the recording the phone was on speaker and [redacted] from Yellow US Pages stated “I know you have me on speaker get me off speaker and you can put your recorder away” and hung up. I called back a few times to hear this message that [redacted] stated she had of my employee and every time I got her on the phone she had another call and she put me on hold and hung up or stated she would call me back. I still haven't heard from her to this date. Yesterday on 9/**/2013 we recieved a call from a [redacted]. from Yellow US Pages asking for [redacted]. I had asked them not to call and talk to [redacted], to only address me with this matter.Desired Settlement: We would like for them to reverse their claim as we have no business relations with this company nor any contract(s).

Review: In the collection notices, Yellow Pages (YP) claimed that I owed $719.99 plus late interest for total $852.35. They claimed that a person who claimed to be a dental assistant authorized 1 year subscription to their service. YP provided a tape recording that had "a person who identified himself as a dental assistant" answering only "yes" to dozens of questions. I restated that YP did not get consent from an authorized person to enter into a contract agreement. I told them that I am the only person authorized to accept any charges. YP rep stated that all they need was a person on the other line to say "yes' and service is started. I told YP rep and faxed to YP in writing that I did not authorized for this service (3 weeks ago). I am completely disputing charges. I resent fax with my dispute of charges in writing again on 8/**/2013.

please advice...Desired Settlement: Please remove this inappropriate charges and stop sending collection notice and demanding payment. This is illegal and unethical business solicitation...

Review: Women's Health Boutique, located at [redacted] in [redacted], received a faxed invoice today, 8/**/2013, dated 7/**/2013 for $719.99 for a "Top 10 Program Annual Package" and a statement dated 8/**/2013 for $770.79 that included a $10.80 interest charge and a $40 administration Fee from Yellow US Pages. The boutique forwarded the two faxes to [redacted], A/R, in our corporate office. No signed contract could be found and she brought it to my attention that this could possibly be a solicitation instead of an invoice, especially since the cover page from [redacted], Collection Agent said "As per your request, you will find attached your invoice and updated account statement," and no such request had been made. I contacted [redacted] to question the validity of the invoice and statement. She played for me a recorded solicitation phone call that was made to [redacted] on May **, 2013, allegedly authorizing the sale. In the recorded call with my employee, I was appalled at how the caller misled my employee to believe that the advertisement had already been placed and that she was verifying that the company information was correct. They asked if she was authorized to verify that the information was correct. She said yes and she did correct the name of the business, and verified the address and phone number. [redacted], nor any other manager or employee of the four locations of Women's Health Boutique are authorized to "place" or "approve" any advertising contract without the owner's signature, and she was very aware of that policy at the time of this call. The call was very deceptive and misleading. No contract was signed and nothing was received from Yellow US Pages prior to the faxes received today. After I spoke with [redacted], I asked [redacted] to call and cancel the program and when she said she was with Women's Health Boutique, they put her on hold for an extended period of time before she hung up and called back to customer service and was transferred to [redacted], who was unwilling to listen to her or give her any answers. She addressed with [redacted] the number of complaints, 146 to be exact, similar to ours that had been made to the Revdex.com within the past 12 months. [redacted] asked for this to be resolved over the phone rather than filing a complaint with the Revdex.com, and [redacted] said because they had authorization, that the account could not be cancelled. I need the Revdex.com's help in resolving this issue.Desired Settlement: Yellow US Pages needs to cancel the Top 10 Program immediately that was "authorized" through verification of information during a misleading solicitation phone call to [redacted], an employee of Women's Health Boutique in [redacted]. I will be willing to pay for one month of the program, 7/**/2013 to 8/**/2013, which would be $60, because we did verify that our business is listed on their website, even though it is listed in an incorrect category. However, I refuse to pay interest of $10.80 and and administration fee of $40 for a past due balance when no invoice was ever received, and I do not believe an advertisement sold through solicitation with no signature or written verification should be binding for the remainder of the 11 months since cancellation has been requested. Thank you for your assistance in resolving this issue.

Review: I moved my psychology practice to a new office location in early August 2012. My new receptionist answered the phone one day and was asked by Yellowuspages.com if they could put me in their directory. He said that they could. I was not told about this call. A few weeks later a bill came in the mail and this looked very similar to the [redacted] that I pay for advertising in, but when I looked at it closely I realized that it was not them. I tossed it, assuming it was junk mail. Then I began to receive calls from the company demanding that I pay. They are trying to charge me about $900 for their advertisement despite the fact that I have never signed any kind of agreement to advertise with them. I sent them a letter in April asking them to drop my charges and to stop the harassment but now they are calling and threatening to send me to collections. Please help! I see through looking online that this company has done the same thing to other businesses.Desired Settlement: I simply want them to stop calling me and to stop sending me bills and to zero out my account.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

My words were twisted on the recording. They left out the part where I said that I wasn't paying anything. I understood that anything printed would be a simple free listing. I did not want an ad. If it was not a free listing, I didn't want it. I had said to them, "I'm not paying for anything". That was left out of the recording. There was no "meeting of the minds" here.

This company did not have the courtesy to send me a confirmation in the mail after the call. They operate like a scam that I have seen described online.

In order for the Revdex.com to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

Review: Before making any agreement we asked Yellow US Pages to send us the draft of the advertisement for our approval. The Yellow US Pages ignored the request and never provided the draft and never sent us the proof of the advertisement. We did not want to make an agreement before we see the draft and the written contract. Yellow US Pages trying to make us pay for service that we never approved and that they never rendered.Desired Settlement: We want Yellow US Pages to stop contacting us and asking for money that we don't owe them. We also would like to inform about Yellow US Page's scam, so other people and businesses will not become their victims

In this recording, the representative verifies that he is authorized to place this order and explains quite clearly that the service is on a two month trial period and that they are welcome to contact our Customer Service Department at any time during those sixty days, in order to cancel their listing.

Review: On Dec.*,2012 a representive from the Yellow US Pages gave information to a semi-retired person and part-time who was answering the phone in my absense. They offered 2 months free advertising. They did not state when it would begin and end. Then there would be a fee. When I found out about it, I called immediatly and cancelled the offer. Then On March *, 2013, we received a Fax with a Bill. I sent it back, sayiny it was never authorized and was cancelled. Then On March **, 2013 we receive the "orginal bill by mail"., with an invoice date of 2/*/2103. I sent a certified letter on March **, 2013 stating our position and that I would contact the Revdex.com if they persisted. . Never heard from them until another fax was received on May **, 2013. Since then, they have threated legal action. I won't pay any bills, when no service was explained ore rendered.Desired Settlement: We want them to stop their illegal harrasment and charges. After being told 2 times to cancel.

[redacted] states that she called to cancel the service before the end of the trial period. If she can provide us with the cancellation number that the customer service representative would have issued to her, we will certainly honor it and cancel this account.
