I pet sit for Rover.comThe last pet sitting services that I did, one of the dogs peed all over my house marking their territory I reported it right away to Rover.com and they will only pay 25% of a professional service, which means that I have to pay 75%They have insurance, but it does not cover property damage, which was not known to me and it is just bad businessHow does a company who is the go-between for pet sitting in people's home, doesn't cover property damage done by those same pets? This is a very bad business practice on their partDoggies make mistakes, but this was on purpose marking on furniture, holiday decorations and the floor

I recently booked through rover.com for a pet sitter from nov 23-with a man named MichaelI booked for my dog to stay with him and was in a pinch to find somebody a little last minuteI met with Michael and set up the dog sitting and Michael had requested that instead of my dog staying with him at his house, she would stay at my home and Michael would attend to her multiple times throughout the daySince I was in a pinch, I agreed to this with the promise that I would receive daily updates and photosI have Michael my keys and instructions and expected exactly what he told meUnfortunately, I only received two updates and photos for the days I was goneAdditionally, I came home to an empty freezer, missing beer and a bottle of expensive scotch that was half goneAlso, a bag of trash was found laying on my kitchen table, the leash and collar were not in the spots I had left them and my dogs water was nearly emptyI had told Michael to leave my keys on the kitchen table when he left, which was not doneIt then took me days to get my keys back from him after he told me multiple times that he was dropping them offHe preceded to ignore my phone calls and texts and then after promising yet again my keys would be dropped off he never showed upI later found my keys under my doormat and didn't receive a message from him that they were there until much laterBecause of this experience I will no longer be using your serviceThe sitters need to be vetting more carefully, as I would not want anybody else to experience this
When I told Rover customer service about this experience, they instructed me to leave a public review on Michael's page and said that they would "take note of this and follow up with Michael as necessary." Compensation was still provided to Michael and Michael continues to be on the siteRover did nothing to reimburse me or handle this situation in any wayI would strongly advise against anybody using this company as they have poor customer service

Hi ***,Thank you for your responseAt this time, we're unable to allow leaving reviews without a stay firstWe did pass along your suggestion to our product team, and they'll take it into account as they continue to improve the siteLeaving feedback is a valuable part of the pet parent experience, and we appreciate your reaching out to share yoursSincerely,Rover Support

Hi ***,
Thank you for your feedbackIt is never our intention to be misleading, and we apologize for any frustration you have experiencedSome sitters choose to dedicate themselves to dog care full-time and can make a substantial amount doing soWe'd be happy to discuss this with you and
offer advice on how to promote your services if you'd likeYou can reach us anytime at rover.com/help
All the best,Kate

Rover.com suspended my account and requested that a pet sitting client book my services via the website and then when she tried to book the service Rover.com would not let herShe then proceeded to cancel less than hours before the pet sit was supposed to startIf the pet sit were actually booked through Rover.com and I would have gotten a late cancel paymentThus, I want Rover to pay $that I lost out on because of themThe late cancel is documented in Rover chat
Hi ***! We're going to stay home this weekend*** isn't getting better and *** is worried about leaving her for the whole weekendWe're going to take her back in to get checkedSorry!! We'll keep you in mind for the future
*** *days ago
Additionally, I have asked for my account be deleted and Rover.com has not responded

This company is a completely unethicalDo not trust them to have any protection for you or your animalI had extreme damage done to my home; the owner and I worked it out, yet Rover ended the stay on their endAfter emailing with them about it, they closed my account completely and kept the moneyThey should be put out of business, I fear for those that use this company at all

I have been trying to find a reliable dog sitter using RovercomThe first person named Donna C in Carlsbad, CA, was deceitful about the times she showed up to sit with my dogI came home unexpectedly early from a conference to find Donna C had left, without giving me noticeThe second person I chose named Christy Rfrom Carlsbad, CA, totally failed to show up for a scheduled appointmentSo far, I am very unimpressed with Rovercom

This is the worst possible company you could hire for pet careI both watched pets and had our dog taken care of by Rover sitters for three years before I finally could not take it anymore! First off, Rover robs money from their pet sitters and treats them like cattleI had a woman decide to have her neighbor watch her dog, I refunded her payment in full, then she changed her mind and called Rover with a fake store about me so she could try to get freebiesWithout talking to me Rover freezed my account and put a note on my account They believed her not me and this woman has never used Rover before Keep in mind I was issued a background check and had been a loyal Rover customer for years!
In addition, customers can post reviews of their stay but Rover does not allow sitters to reply to these review s even after claiming that they do allow this reply toolI one had an owner lie that her son was potty trainedShe gave me a star review but I could not warn other sitters that the dog was not potty trained and would destroy their home
When having our dog cared for I called Rover support three times to add a serviceI was treated so rudely by the woman who answered and was then sent an email saying thank you for contacting usI had to contact the sitter privately and just paid her without using the appNever again!
Because Rover made accusations about me that lacked evidence, and treated me with disrespect, and has no idea what they are doing, we will never use them againI have shared my experience with all of my colleagues and friends
My husband and I will never use this company again and will pay more to use a reputable pet boarding facility that is not run by telemarketers with no people skills
If you love your pets please go elsewherePet care is not the time to cut corners, and Rover does not truly care for its customers, sitters, or petsThey value a quick buck more than retaining long term clients and training their support staff and sitters with universal protocols

Rover.com is the most shady and unprofessional business that I have ever worked this I had an experience with a bad sitter who after booking a drvisit with my pets, never returned my messages and did not meet with me at the agreed time to greet my pets and receive instructions for the stay I contacted Rover customer service about the issue, and they have done nothing to correct the issue I am not even able to write a review for the sitter I booked with because "I had canceled the stay" after she did not return my messages I had to rebook with another (more expensive) sitter the day before my hour trip Customer service is a joke and could care less about customer complaints against bad sitters Everyone of the sitters have 5-star reviews because they do not allow you to create a bad review for them I will never use this service again and neither should anyone else

Hello ***,
We're incredibly sorry about the experience you, ***, and *** hadIn no way, shape, or form does this represent the expectations we have of sitters that share their services on the Rover site
We know our dedicated Trust & Safety team is already working with you directly
If you have any additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to respond directly to their emails or give them a call at ***
Sincerely,
Rover Support

I scheduled my dog to stay with a rover sitterMy dog got sick the night before the scheduled day and I contacted the sitter to let her knowShe told me that she would not take himSo I cancelled the sitting through the appI still got charged for the sittingWhen I contacted Rover asking what is their policy on charging the customer even if the sitter refuses to take the dog, they stopped responding to my emailsWhen I called Rover and spoke to them, they refused to tell me what their refund policy is when the sitter refuses to take the dogI asked to speak to a supervisor, they told me that they will not let me speak to a supervisor or anyone elseThey then threatened to hang up on me

I found a dog sitter Adam Con the Rover site and left our year old yorkie baby *** with himShe was only with him for approximately hoursDue to his negligence, she was struck and killed by a carHe must not have received training on how to care for a small dog*** was almost years old and only weighed less than lbsAdam opened the door for a pizza delivery person and tried to hold *** with his foot and of course she jumped over his foot and got out of his apartment*** was struck and killed by a car and a stranger found herMy daughter, *** *** and niece, *** ***, went to help Adam find our *** and had the unfortunate experience to see *** deadMy daughter lost it as *** was bleeding and deadThey had to drive her to the vetThis was carelessness on Adam's part and RoversI contacted Rover and they apologized and said they would refund me for the stay and pay for any after careThere is no after care vet bills because she was dead at arrivalT

HorribleSitters recieve no background check to work here, so through the Rover service, I inadvertently let a thief/addict into my home for three daysShe got inebriated, trashed my house, stole items, and starved my dogRover took ZERO responsibility beyond firing the sitter, and this sitter cost me hundreds of dollarsMy dog has just now, after almost weeks, begun to eat normally againRover needs to be FORCED to take responsibilityI'm considering legal actionMy heart aches for those of you whose dogs were killed by sitters employed by this racket

Our dog is dead!
After carefully searching, checking reviews and references and interviewing candidates, we hired someone ?we thought was an? experienced dog and house sitter to live in our home? for our week vacation out of the countryWe found Nella M*** on Nextdoor and she had all the qualificationsWhen we interviewed her she proudly stated that she gets most of her business dog sitting and her doggy day-care from rover.com where they emphasize safety
On our first day away she locked out one of our three precious little dogs, our beloved, defenseless ?senior 5lb.?pom rescue in the dog run at bedtimeEvidence shows Foxy was mauled and killed by a coyote
We reported the incident to supervisors at rover.com, since they were ?promoting Nella M*** ?as a trusted and safe dog sitter? There were ?other issues but they pale in comparison to allowing our sweet Foxy to meet with such a violent death, all due to carelessly leaving her outside and "counting heads" while the door to the dog run was left OPEN, and not looking outside before locking the door.?
Nella called it an “honest mistake.” The supervisor at rover.com said they could not tell us what action they were going to take but would investigate ?the incidentThe lady we spoke to sounded very sympathetic about our loss.?
Now, weeks later,? Nella is still featured on the siteWith a dog dead while in Nella's care, you would have thought that they would at least temporary suspend her until they could investigate to protect their customers even if we did not find her on rover.com
In my opinion, rover.com is more interested in their cut of her fees than they are the safety of our dogs

BEWARE PLEASE READ !! I scheduled the drop in visits for yesterday and this morning and when my husband and I got home this morning , the sitter we hired never showed up and this is NOT OK as we have a year old dog with separation anxiety and the poor girl nobody checking in on her and I was charged for it , I called rover and they are going to reimburse me but this is just not OK ever !! We will never be using them again

I cannot even begin to tell you the horrific experience I had with this corrupt company First off, I had my dog dropped off at sitter where he was promptly lost within two hours of my dropping him off The sitter then sent me texts bashing me for "not having a socialized dog, etc." That was completely false, and of course, completely uncalled for He promised me he had a high fence, would be home to watch 24/and not to worry He had just sent me a text minutes earlier telling me how my dog was adjusting well and all would be fine Of course the minute he loses my dog it is all MY fault, right?
OK, so I am worried to death my dog may get hit by a car and die due to his negligence He said he only left him for ten minutes and when he came back he was gone Oh my
Two and half days later my dog shows up at my house No help from ROVER My dog found his way on HIS OWN! He wanted to be home, obviously I was working long hours and had to check messages during short breaks during the day
ROVER went ahead and snatched my dog from MY PROPERTY without authorization, after they found out that he was at home, while I was at work They promptly went ahead and placed him in yet another home, WITHOUT my authorization
At the end of the day, I got my dog back safely, but it was through no help of ROVER
Then, they tried to make themselves out to be some sort of heroes or something because my dog made it back to my house alive?? He did that on his own! Rover had absolutely nothing to do with it They further added insult to injury by harassing me to accept the change and payment as if I should be happy with everything they did wrong! I was trying to put away my groceries and this Natalie M person from customer support would not leave me alone, even though I kept asking her to She aggravated me by continuing to harass me, and then started to threaten that if I did not accept the terms within hours they would go ahead and take payment and close my account I told her she was harassing me and that it was illegal, along with the other things they had done, such as trespassing She then apparently went ahead and took payment unauthorized from my credit card, fraudulently, and then closed my account/deactivated it, so that I could not post a review or my experience on the site I am warning any and every one what this horrible experience and company is DO NOT USE THEM! MORALLY and ETHICALLY absent I would give them an F- for the absolute worst customer service ever I LOST a dog, among other things They have such high egos apparently that they will protect their reputation at any cost They must be stopped Poor pets DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!
They are not doing anything right here A very, shady practice who will only care about their bottom line DISGUSTING!!

Rover lied to me saying I had a dog in my care that was hit by a car and my final straw was when I offer to help my client cancel his booking and Rover flags thisHad I known, I would have the client cancel his own bookingI have an email from Jake stating this which *** me off since no dog was hit by a car in my careI couldn't even talk to a personIt is all email based nor could I find a numberTHEY NEED TO FIX THIS! What is Seattle Freeze scared to talk to people through phone and only talk to objects??? I am so appalled and angered that they would permanent closed my sitter services along with all my star reviews and return clientsNOT ONCE did they look at thoseI had no animals killed in my careThe one dog that I needed to find another sitter was bad because I couldn't get into contact with the owner after I tried multiple times since he was out of countryWhen I ask to talk to the sitter specialist, all they said was they only correspond through email as I want t

We used Rover.com to board one of our dogs the wedding weekShe came back with a severe cough that spread to all of our other petsThat's right, she came back with the flu
Long story short, I contacted the woman that at least one of her dogs are obviously ill and I contacted Rover who basically said "not our problem" while our vet bills pile inShe still shows as active on the app and has FIVE dogs with the illness.\ I deleted the app and wrote that experience off as a loss The vet said that even with the vaccine, that the flu is still contagious so please be careful who you board your dogs with

Rover.com advertises that they do background checks for their pet sittersHowever, their Terms of Service, section specifically states: "Identity and Background VerificationAll parties are responsible for providing true, accurate, current and complete information about yourself, and maintaining and promptly updating all such information so it remains true, accurate, and complete at all timesRover does not verify any such information, and it is the user’s sole responsibility to determine the identity and suitability of others who you may contact by means of the ServicesWe do not endorse any persons who use or register for our Services, including Pet Care Service ProvidersRover may provide or publish (through badges) identity and background information services offered by third parties (each a “Third Party Service”)Rover.com does not warrant or guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any information, and specifically disclaims liability and responsibilit

The whole reason to go through a website like Rover is so there is a layer of protection between you and the sitterYou think that in the event of a problem, Rover will step in and rectify the situation
I'm here to let you know, they will notThey could care less who is listed as a sitter on their siteWe booked a sitter through rover.com to do once a day min to change food and litterWe came home one night at 1:in the morning to find her past out in our bed and empty alcohol bottles of ours littered throughout the apartment
According to Rover they can only offer a third party mediator in case of a sitter issueThey don't care what happened and said they think they can "coach" the sitter so it won't happen againI don't even think they read my emails because I would immediately remove someone like that from my business
Needless to say, I highly do not recommend RoverThey offer you no help should an issue arise
