Rover does not properly vet and train sittersThe sitters are just individuals looking to make extra money on the sideDefinitely, not professionalsOn paper, Julie, our sitter is the perfect sitterUnfortunately, in reality, our dog is injured in a days stayOur dog was bitten with a week recovery and drain tubeCoco was taken to the park where she played with a German shepherdCoco is well socialized and even though it is a dog park, she should not have been allowed to play with a large dog specially with no supervisionThe situation ended in the German Shepherd biting CocoThe wound was covered by her fur and unfortunately, we didn't get home till the next dayAt the vet, the doctor cleaned the wound and removed the fur to surface a deep subcutaneous wound with a second wound that had a deep pocketHow could a a few seconds of a fight result in such a bad wound? Coco is one year old and is still a puppyMy notes clearly stated thatHow can a sitter let a puppy play with a ferocious and aggressive German shepherd? The result is that we're in trauma over the injury and our dog is in pain since days now and will be suffering for another weeksWe're busy, working professionals and have taken the best care of our dog for this entire year with no incidentsThis situation has not only caused us trauma mentally and emotionally as pet parents but, it's unbearable to see a little innocent dog in so much pain and suffering with a drain tube at such an early ageI would highly recommend not using strangers to watch your dogsRover and other instant services have made us blindPeople who are not trained professionals and claim to be "sitters" can never take care appropriate care of your dogYou're better off looking for alternate optionsAs for Julie, she was apologetic and offered to pay for the vet chargesI have only one question to ask her - 'What if your own child was bitten mercilessly in your absence and ended up in the hospital? How much money could one pay to give you relief and peace from that kind of pain and suffering?' There really is no turning back from this incident but, I write this review to warn other pet owners from using sitters who may seem to be 'perfect' and are very warm and probably great human beings but, are NOT equipped to take care of your dogThey have probably no training, no concern and definitely no commitment to your dogPlease consider working with Julie at your own risk and likewise with other sitters on RoverI would highly recommend NOT using Rover as they do not vet their sittersReviews are misleading and you will never know how the sitter is managing your pet during your time awayRover did not even offer to refund us for the stayHorrible service with no integrity

I boarded my dog via RoverAfter I picked up my dog, I found one of her teeth was broken She had to do a surgery to remove that toothThe doctor said the reason for this kind of condition is chewing some hard materials when she feel nervous, like gates or cageI contacted sitter and RoverThey rejected claim for reimbursement due to hour window and they refused my refund request because sitter told them nothing happened during the stay I dont understand at all
my dog acted as usual after boarding until I fed her with brushing treatsHow should I know immediately for her broken teeth? Should I open her month and check each tooth after I picked up her? Or should I schedule a health check with vet before I pick up my dog to ensure everything is OK? Are you going to pay for those cost after each boarding?
I am not waiting for months then come back saying my pets has issuesI contacted boarder right way I found this incidentThen I have to schedule with vet to evalua

When I started vetting sitters I made it clear how difficult a time our little guy had been havingI just had a baby, his doggy sister died recently, we made a major move and then we had to leave on an important day family tripOur dog had experienced a lot of change and needed some extra supportOur petsitter seemed compassionate and reliable and her schedule seemed to allow plenty of one on one time for our dog so the set up seemed idealOnce we were gone our petsitter seemed distant and it was a challenge to get updates without her being promptedShe didn’t seem interested in trying to connect with our dog and he spent the first few days hiding in the closetI had to make suggestions to get her to be responsiveFinally we found out from multiple neighbors that our petsitter had different men in our home without our permissionWe were able to confirm by home surveillance (that she was actually aware of) that she had two men in our home overnight a few different timesWe h

1) We contracted a Rover sitter to conduct daily checkins for our new puppy—to let her out to pee during the middle of the workday—before she was fully vaccinated and we could start her with daily group dog walks
2) Brianna was nice and seemed great during her interview so we began service with her
3) Everything seemed fine at first until we started noticing clues that she wasn’t actually coming some days of the week as agree and as paidWe thought surely not, who would leave a puppy cooped up and unable to be let out all day?
4) After enough peculiar things we set a simple trap and came home to find she had not come that day like she said she had, and was taking our money anywayWe immediately terminated service with her
5) We contacted Rover to eject her from the Rover system to prevent her bad caregiving to other customers, and asked for a full refund
6) Within hours our puppy had symptoms of a urinary tract infection which was later confirmed and treated by our vet after multiple visits (and bills)
7) We were passed between multiple Rover “customer service” reps and asked us to try to settle the “issue” with Brianna directly
8) We said we would not be doing that, and that Rover should take action along with the photographic proof and statement we’d taken
9) We asked to be compensated for the times we could only presume our puppy was locked up all day and for our $vet billRover covered us for some of the time our caregiver had lied to us but since we didn’t get back to them in time with a written doctor’s note from our vet, they claim their insurance company would not cover our claim
10) Our Rover takeaways include one lying contractor, one mistreated and slightly abused puppy, one horrible customer service experience after another and one large vet bill that we were stuck payingWhile we are certain this will not be the experience for everyone, the fact that this company so mismanaged our claim and was unwilling to do the right thing in the end to make it right—considering they represented this horrible caregiver—leads us to conclude this is not a company responsible enough to watch out for the well-being and safety of our pets

BEWARE! DO NOT USE this company! When the stuff hits the fan, you are on your own I hired one of their cat sitters for a 2-week visit while I went on vacationAs soon as I got back cat was vomiting and clearly sickI had to bring the cat to her regular doctor and subsequently to a hour emergency hospital because it was the weekendTotal cost to me : almost $2,I complained to Rover.com that according to all the doctors who saw my cat, the cause of the severe kidney infection, 7% dehydration, and hypovolemic shock was that the cat had been eating RANCID food for a PROLONGED period of timeRover.com denied the claim EVEN after I sent all the medical records and a strongly worded letter from my cat's vet regarding her condition They just would NOT accept responsibility for hiring an incompetent and irresponsible cat sitter who most likely did not show up for the visits except at the beginning and at the end when I was about to return Unless you have thousands of dollars to spare or don't care if your pet gets sick, DO NOT USE this company Otherwise you will have the same experience as I had Completely UNTRUSWORTHY!!!

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:I have not received communicationI have sent numerous emails and documentation, including during our travel that shows she was not coming as agreed uponI am waiting for an explanation as to what happened to my dogs from RoverI do not have compensation for services not rendered or the damage caused by neglectful care
Sincerely,

I dropped my dogs off with one of their star sitters Sunday May 6th at 10:30am
Monday afternoon 12:I received a text that my dog got loose because someone broke into their house sometime over night didn't steal anything just let my dog looseSince that time on I was lied to by the sitter got no help finding my dog from the Rover.com security team
My dog is the cutest/sweetest lb chihuahua/terrier mix adopted from *** * *** rescue She was on her own in Mountains Edge from Sunday night until she was found Tuesday night 7:pm
Fliers for her were not posted until after 3PM Tuesday, Rover kept telling my they were "trying" to get local sitters out to search for herThey lost touch for hours with the sitter while, we waited for a callThey kept assuring me she was out there putting up fliers and searching and I told them she's lying, every time we had our search teams out there no one else was looking and no fliers to be seen
I requested that she at least be suspe

I paid a dog sitter $to care for my two dogs for five daysThe agreement was that she would walk the dogs daily, the dogs were not to be taken out of their environment, the allergic rash on one of my dogs was to be sprayed daily, and a regular routine would be followed (when treats were given, bedtime routine, etc.)
Upon my return I found that my dog’s rash was worse than ever and the spray was not even touchedI heard from my neighbors that my dogs were never seen on walks other than one timeI was sent one photo of my dogs on a walkWhen my dogs are taken on regular walks, they routinely relieve themselves, and when I came home none of my disposal bags were used so I don’t believe they were routinely walked as promised I specifically hired an in-home dog sitter so that my one dog, who has very bad arthritis, could be exercised and it’s very disappointing to know that she was not
After my one star review (which was NOT posted until I followed up with additional

Rover.com is the most shady and unprofessional business that I have ever worked this I had an experience with a bad sitter who after booking a drvisit with my pets, never returned my messages and did not meet with me at the agreed time to greet my pets and receive instructions for the stay I contacted Rover customer service about the issue, and they have done nothing to correct the issue I am not even able to write a review for the sitter I booked with because "I had canceled the stay" after she did not return my messages I had to rebook with another (more expensive) sitter the day before my hour trip Customer service is a joke and could care less about customer complaints against bad sitters Everyone of the sitters have 5-star reviews because they do not allow you to create a bad review for them I will never use this service again and neither should anyone else

Well let me tell you about my Rover.com experience! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!Holy Cow what a mess! They do not care about your dog, cat ,home or anything elseDo not be fooledThis is all about the all mighty dollar regardless of the cost to the customerMy wife and I went on a day cruise and only my neighbors intervening in our absence saved our dogs livesWe selected one of Rovers Star sitters after interviewing a young ladyI am not sure what kind of background check or vetting process they claim to run but I believe Taco Bell and McDonald's has a better screening process in place....WHAT A JOKE! My sitter who was staying at our home walked our dogs as best we could tell from video one time eachThe dogs were not fed or given any water for two daysOne dog was put on a balcony in freezing temperatures while the other was left inside with the heat wide open over degreesThey smoked pot and maybe something else, made drug deals from my homeFor two days it was a revolving door for drugs and my dogs being abused in the meantimeI am so pissed off about this I can hardly seeMy neighbors became concerned when they saw my smallest dog locked out in the cold for hours and did not see our other dog at allThank God one of our friends went by to check on our dogsThe dog inside was dehydrated and starvingThe dog outside was freezing, starving and also dehydratedThis dog could barely walkWhile there they noticed drugs laying around randomly every where!! Then they noticed my wife's new Camaro Convertible was not thereHours later a couple of young hoodlums show up in my car!! Who are these guys? Where is the sitter I hired? HOW AND WHY DID I TAKE THIS CHANCE ON ROVER.COM? They almost killed my dogs, trashed my home, sold and did drugs in my home and stole my carBut they (ROVER)
say they are not responsibleWell part of that is right...they are truly not a responsible companyI am having the car thieves arrestedI have already filed the paper workI wish I could have these jerks that are raking in the profits arrested as well....STAY AWAY FROM ROVER.COM and please don't right me some petty footnote that you sympathize with my situation, I do not need to hear your crapI have read your BS on all the other negative reviewsIf I can take you to court or arbitration you can have your say there

I've used rover.com twice now and both times were awfulThe first sitter left vomit in my wastebasket for me to clean AND left an oven mitt in the broiler of my gas oven, thus nearly burning my house downThe second sitter didn't read any of the instruction and left my pup without food or toys all dayAfter these negative experiences, I took a closer look at the profiles on roverNONE of the reviews are bad on roverIt says that sitters can not remove reviews but it's obvious that they doThere are no negative reviews on anyone's profilesMy sitter's profile says she has reviews yet only showI check out other random sitter profiles and they too all have positive reviews and missing negative reviewsSketchy AF

The dog sitter from Simi Valley I hired to watch my dogs from Feb16-Feb 18, was grossly negligent and caused the death of my poor beautiful little SheltieShe left my dogs (big sized pointer, and small sized Sheltie) unattended all night with other large dogs that my dogs have never met, a Lab and a Golden retriever and failed to see that my little dog has been mauled by either one or both of those large dogs until a much later timeShe failed to bring my dog to the vet which might have saved him if he was brought in immediately when the attack happened but yet she and her husband had time to give my dog a bath to wash off the dried blood that was on him so he will be presentable when I picked him upI brought my poor dying dog to the vet myself crying and heartbrokenShe failed to be a safe dog sitter and she puts future dogs at risk of death
Rover needs to deactivate her account and cut her off completelyShe is unfit to do this job safelyPls stop her from ki

We hired a sitter through Rover.com to care for our dogs for days while we were in MexicoWe communicated the days and times and agreed upon noon Sunday-the following SundayI texted her when we arrived in Mexico and she had not arrived (pm) she stated she planned to come after work (5pm)She stated she thought the agreed upon time was (the email exchange indicated noon and that is still hours before when she came)Our dogs were left unattended for hoursI contacted Rover about this and they stated the issue was resolved, but it did not resolve the fact we did not get the service paid for or that our dogs were left without food, water or a bathroom break for an unreasonable amount of timeI received a text that she had left our dogs out when asked to contain them while leaving and they chewed a couchI expect a sitter can follow instructions for care of our animalsOur dogs gentle leaders were destroyed and Rover will not communicate what happened and neither would

I recently booked through rover.com for a pet sitter from nov 23-with a man named MichaelI booked for my dog to stay with him and was in a pinch to find somebody a little last minuteI met with Michael and set up the dog sitting and Michael had requested that instead of my dog staying with him at his house, she would stay at my home and Michael would attend to her multiple times throughout the daySince I was in a pinch, I agreed to this with the promise that I would receive daily updates and photosI have Michael my keys and instructions and expected exactly what he told meUnfortunately, I only received two updates and photos for the days I was goneAdditionally, I came home to an empty freezer, missing beer and a bottle of expensive scotch that was half goneAlso, a bag of trash was found laying on my kitchen table, the leash and collar were not in the spots I had left them and my dogs water was nearly emptyI had told Michael to leave my keys on the kitchen table when he left, which was not doneIt then took me days to get my keys back from him after he told me multiple times that he was dropping them offHe preceded to ignore my phone calls and texts and then after promising yet again my keys would be dropped off he never showed upI later found my keys under my doormat and didn't receive a message from him that they were there until much laterBecause of this experience I will no longer be using your serviceThe sitters need to be vetting more carefully, as I would not want anybody else to experience this
When I told Rover customer service about this experience, they instructed me to leave a public review on Michael's page and said that they would "take note of this and follow up with Michael as necessary." Compensation was still provided to Michael and Michael continues to be on the siteRover did nothing to reimburse me or handle this situation in any wayI would strongly advise against anybody using this company as they have poor customer service

I booked a sitter through Rover.com who in felted my puppies with roundwormIt has caused severe trauma to all of them, cost me significant money, and left several items in my house ruined due to contamination with fecesAlso, rover.com does not release sitter info, so I had to do detective work myself on the sitterI discovered that she has a vast criminal record including arrest and jail just days after I picked up my puppies

I contacted rover.com and made arrangements to have a nearby couple watch our dog on an agreed upon dateAs the date grew near the couple contacted us to let us know that they would be evacuating ahead of a hurricane that was projected to come through the areaA new date was agreed upon by ourselves and the sitterWhile at the sitters home on the new agreed upon date our dogs front right canine tooth was avulsed from the socket along with soft tissue, resulting in the loss of the tooth and $in emergency and corrective medical costsWe immediately contacted rover.com to let them know about the incident and to ask them to submit a claim to their insurerWe were abruptly met with resistance and rationals as to why they were not responsibleThe reason given for the refusal to submit the claim was that the original date had been changedIn their own contract it states that to be covered" ithe injury must have occurred during the scheduled start and end dates of a booking ac

I book doggy day care for four days in December when we were visiting our daughter's familyThe sitter gave me a different address than the one forwarded by Rover.ComWe took our dog to that address at the agreed time and found it was a trailer park with about unitsI called the phone number provided by Rover.Com to find out which unit was the sitter's, but the number was not in serviceOur daughter found the sitter's name and address, including the unit, on the internetWe went there but no one answered the doorI sent a message to the sitter through Rover.Com but she did not ever reply
We made other, last minute arrangements for care for our dogI found no clear way to register a complaint on the Rover.Com websiteI finally described the problem, requested a refund, and submitted it to "support" but it was never answeredAfter the four days had passed, Rover.Com asked me to submit a reviewI wrote in the review that the service had never been provided, explained wh

I paid Rover and Rover paid my sitter to watch my dog My dog got sprayed by a skunk while in the care of the Rover sitter The sitter did not inform me he was sprayed while in her care and when I picked him up she did not inform me either I smelled the smell as soon as I got within feet of him I promptly took him to be groomed and it was confirmed he had been sprayed My dog has now incurred several grooming bills because of her negligence I asked her did she smell something and at first she said NO then later said yes she does have them in her yard She was negligence and my dog now smells horrendous and he still does I feel Rover is not taking responsibility for this action I paid Rover not her and I gave her a fresh smelling dog and got a funky smelling one back He is a Akita and big so grooming bills are not cheap and he needs to get additional services I spoke with a supervisor Erin R ID *** and he stated its not Rover's responsibility My dog was dama

I had a sitter stay at my home to take care of my dog for the weekendThe sitter had a visitor stay at my homeI have camera that took pictures showing him and her in my living roomI came back and asked the sitter if she had anyone stay at the house she stated noI contacted rover and all they did is ask for the pictures and gave me a creditI told them I want a refund as I am not using the service againSince then my account has been deleted but as far as the sitter all they did is flag her accountThis is more of a safety issue for my dog and my homeNow her boyfriend and the sitter know where I liveI am afraid or retaliation and all rover did is offer credit

I recently left my two dogs with a sitter for days, and was surprised to find what I did upon my return I had originally thought that everything was going fine, with all the updates and pictures that were being sent to me, so I figured they were in good handsAfter picking up my two dogs and taking them home, I realized that my Yorkie was licking himself uncontrollably, and at first, I did not think anything of it After a few minutes, and noticing that he was still licking himself, I decided to see what he was licking and to my surprise, I found raw rub marks on his skin where his harness would normally sit I then remembered that when I took his harness off, it was not put on him correctly and was tight on the side where his rub marks were I then looked at the photos that she had sent me and realized that the harness was on him wrong in every photo, which caused me to believe that she left the incorrectly installed harness on him for the entire time he was in her care I t
