This company claims they provide "star pet sitters" but our experience was quite the opposite
After multiple pleading emails and calls Rover refused to refund the almost $we paid themOur home and pets would have been better off being left aloneOur house sitter left our
floors sticky with peach pits scattered throughoutShe did not pick up our mail or newspapers; she left mailbox stuffed and overflowingShe did not bring in garbage cansShe did not empty the cat boxShe did not put out fresh waterWhen we returned home our dog was hiding and then vomitedShe had strangers in our home to spend the nightOur passports are missing and had to be reported stolenRover claimed it is not their responsibility to refund usBeware of this companyThey should care that pets and belongings in dangerThey don't

WARNING!! If you use ROVER.COM this can happen to you! I booked a dog sitter from Rover.com to stay with my dog when I took a day tripI met the sitter firstShe seemed nice and my dog liked herI scheduled and paid for this service three months in advanceI gave her a key to my homeI even stocked food for her stay, making every effort to ensure her comfortI bought my round trip plane ticket and awaited the arrival of the sitterShe NEVER SHOWED UPShe failed to answer any of my calls and failed to respond to any of my textsMy plane took off without meI called every boarding facility I could to find a last minute arrangement and finally found one, thankfully, and then I had to buy another round trip flightExtra costs for the second flight and extra boarding fees ran over $The amount of stress I went through for hours waiting for the sitter who never showed up then frantically trying to fix this I would not wish on anyoneWhen I contacted Rover.com I was told that they would only refund my payment to them and offer me a $credit toward future serviceThey would not in anyway compensate me for ANY part of my financial losses due to their failure to meet the contractural obligation of their online agreementAfter this experience I would never book them againSince it is their policy that they will NOT compensate you for any losses associated with your engaging of their “service” and it is not made really clear up front that this could happen to anyone who uses them; I am going out of my way to relate my experience and maybe save someone else the horror and financial losses associated with trusting and using Rover.comFeel free to share this post as a public service

Hello all,
I have hired a sitter from Rover.com from 05/to 06/I met with the person before sitting to make sure that she is real; I checked her rover.com profile and had positive reviews on Rover.comShe was to housesit my dogs in my houseFirst, my next-door neighbor stated that she was not staying at the house for the first three days, even though she was to sleep there; I was in Europe at the time and I texted her that this is the caseShe did not know that I had my friends checking on dogs as wellShe came to the house at that point (as my friends have confirmed)
Then, I came home at PM instead of PM, just to find my two dogs fenced in a yard, while in my living room there were two other dogs and a month old babyDogs she sat thru rover.com in my own home!
Afterwards, my septic system broke (this is a brand new home- no one else lived in it) and the company rep who came out to assess the system found out that someone (sitter since no one else has ever lived in the house) flushed un-flushable wipes causing $in damages; pretty soon my washing machine broke----a year old! The repair man stated that engine died because someone put a huge load to washTo replace this was $
Dogs were dirty, house smelled horrible after her care
I called Rover.com and spend minutes talking to a very nice person, but there was NOTHING that rover.com could do even though she was their employee; I am choosing not to go with Rover.com for my dogs again since they could not do ANYTHING despite horrible treatment that my dogs got; not to mention damage to my house
Please be aware that person can have positive reviews, but still do a horrible job and rover.com will NOT do a thing to remedy this experienceOoops, they will offer a personal match so they can find you a sitter through rover.comWhy would anyone in their right mind hire a sitter with rover.com when they do not stand behind the product they sell you*** here I come!

I recently left my two dogs with a sitter for days, and was surprised to find what I did upon my return I had originally thought that everything was going fine, with all the updates and pictures that were being sent to me, so I figured they were in good handsAfter picking up my two dogs and taking them home, I realized that my Yorkie was licking himself uncontrollably, and at first, I did not think anything of it After a few minutes, and noticing that he was still licking himself, I decided to see what he was licking and to my surprise, I found raw rub marks on his skin where his harness would normally sit I then remembered that when I took his harness off, it was not put on him correctly and was tight on the side where his rub marks were I then looked at the photos that she had sent me and realized that the harness was on him wrong in every photo, which caused me to believe that she left the incorrectly installed harness on him for the entire time he was in her care I t

Signed up with Rover.com for a sitter that my dog could stay with in their home The sitter and I texted back and forth, I asked if there for a shady place for my dog while outside, she said they would be indoors most of the time, and yes there was some shade outsideWhen I took my dog to her house , the living room had a smell of pee, her dog was barking a lot, she put her in the garagemy dog was still very nervous and started to pee a little on her carpet, she never does thisI rushed her out the door she had taken her dog, the garage smelled like cat pee, and when I went out to the back yard, it was covered with dog poopI grabbed my dog and went back into the house and told Mariah (the sitter) that I cannot leave my dog hereI asked her, Don't you pick up your dog poop? She said it was her mom's houseI called Rover.com and explained why I did not leave my dogThey would only refund 1/of my money because it was passed the cancellation dateThat sitters house was not sanitary for my dog to stay inThey told me that's why they suggest a meet and greet before bookingDoesn't look good for a service that is suppose to have reliable sitters

Rover sitters leave dozens of dogs dead every month and even more injured or lostThey do not care about your pets, they care about their reputation which is why they don't share the information of how many dogs they killLet me tell you, there are a lot of beloved family pets who never got to see their families ever again because they were killed by a negligent sitterRover then continues to allow these people to watch pets because they only care about making money -- and the money they make goes to hiding negative reviews and expanding to other countries where they can cause more deathsAs was the case for the dog sitter that killed my dogShe had a history of negligence that Rover knew about but because they did nothing, she was allowed to keep watching people's pets until time ran out with my dogFinally, they did not even remove her from the platform until I went to the local news -- again, because they are only worried about their imageIn reality, Rover is the absolute WORST thing to happen to the pet care industryThey are greedy, evil humans with no regard to the pain they cause on a daily basis - they will take your money but when a tragedy happens, all you get is an automated email stating "oops sorry about killing you dog." I hope more people discover the truth about this companyI had no idea that by using them, I would never see my best friend againHe deserved so much better and the fact that he was just one out of so many killed means that this company needs to stop what they're doing because no one is safe with ethically devoid Rover out there watching our best friends

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
I would like to keep this complaint open until all actions are completed by the company.
Respectfully,*** ***

This company falsely misrepresents how much individuals can make while providing servicesCraigslist says it can make up to $a month and that is VERY MISLEADING! No one can make anywhere near that type of income and they need to stop giving these expectations

I wish I would have seen these reviews before hiring a girl to house sit for a couple of nightsI thought it was strange that she was not sending me updates about my pups, so I kept my security camera on just to be safe amd the sitter was fully aware of itThe day I flew out she had not even showed up to my house until around 9pm and that was only because I messaged her to check on themMy pups were unattended for hours and when she showed she only stayed for minutes before leaving againIt was really late so I decided to wait till the next morning to call and make a report, I checked the camera again and at some point during the night she showed back up and did in fact stay the night, however she woke up pur food in their bowls and then walked out, didnt take my pups out for the morning to relieve themselves at allAt this point I am so upset I call and report it and then cancel the rest of the bookingRover requested I message her and call hee out on it and she made excuses and avoided the questions entirelyI came home to both my main door and my bedroom door with huge holes in them due to the sitters neglect and rover is refusing to cover the expenses because it came from my dogsBoth my dogs are older and I have NEVER had an issue with them chewing on any of my property like thisMy poor dog now has a major case of separation anxiety and its been over a week since ive returned and I cant get him to shake the anxiety even though we have tried everythingRovers guarantee: "What's covered?
Physical damage to a pet owner’s personal property caused by the sitter or walker, or the sitter’s or walker’s resident pet(s)
What's not covered?
Damage to a pet owner’s property caused by his or her own pets, or damage to the property of a pet care provider or someone related to or residing with the pet care provider" the nevlect of this babysitter is the direct cause of the damage to my doors and they are claiming its notSo now I am out hundreds of dollars in replacing doorsAnd trips to the vet for the anxiety

We made last-minute dog sitting reservations with a sitter via rover.comThe sitter and I exchanged a few messages, then she requested full payment in advance to confirm the reservationShe ignored us for a full hours after receiving payment, which resulted in our decision to cancel our bookingWe simply did not have a good feeling about leaving our dogs with this womanThe sitter's cancellation policy states the following: " A full refund is available if a client cancels by 12:00pm the day before the service begins12:00pm is determined by the sitter's time zoneIf canceled later than 12:00pm the day before the service begins, a 50% refund is available for the first seven days of the service, and a 100% refund is available for any additional days." Please notice that the cancellation policy is without a clause for same-day/last-minute bookingsWhen I asked the sitter for clarification she replied with, "Not sure I understand your questionThe timing of the reservation doesn'

Has anyone used the service Rover.com?….(An online website recommending dog sitters in your area) Here’s our NIGHTMARE experience with rover.com:
We recently moved to Naples, Flfrom Arizona We wanted to go to Miami for several nights and made the mistake of going to rover.com to arrange for our bischon and maltepoo to be cared for in a safe sitters home We have never boarded our dogs before because they are used to a walled yard in Arizona After visiting the rover.com recommended sitter’s home and giving details about the dogs preferences, their recent move to Florida, and their closeness to us we arranged for the boarding The rover.com sitter assured us she is always home with the dogs she sits and will treat them as her own The second afternoon of our trip to Miami we get a call from the sitter saying our bischon (Sophie) had been let out of the sitters front door as she was bringing in groceries! She said “I called her but she wouldn’t come back” (as if it was the dogs fault? Sophie was obviously searching for us) A rep from rover.com called us as we were racing back to Naples in tears, devastated that our poor Sophie was wandering around an unknown area filled with swampy woods, black panthers, hawks, coyotes, and alligators, not to mention near a very busy highway We raced back to Naples to search for our precious Sophie We were assured by the rover.com rep that they would have flyers with Sophie’s picture posted on every corner by the sitters house and that all their sitters in the area would be searching for Sophie in the morning When we got to Naples we immediately pick up our maltepoo from the sitter so she would be safe and started searching the area most of the night, on foot and in the car calling for Sophie in the dark We felt we would never find her again We finally went back home and slept (or tried to sleep) for hours, got up and starting searching the area again in the morning There were NO flyers in the area, and we saw no one searching for Sophie as promised by rover.com After several hours we saw a grey mop of an animal slowly walking on the sidewalk by a densely wooded, swampy area blocks from the sitters house It did not look like a dog or a cat, but as we got closer we could see it may be Sophie It was! She was soaking wet, matted, full of burrs, and could hardly walk If we are to believe the time reported by the sitter of Sophie’s negligent release, Sophie had been wandering those woods for at least hours during the nightLong story, short: Sophie had vet visits after this trauma, the first was to take care of her injured feet and back, the second visit weeks later because although she ate ravenously the morning she was found she continued to decline in health over the next weeks She ate very little, had no energy and was hiding under furniture for safety (not like our Sophie prior to this trauma.) She stopped eating altogether and lost an entire pound in weeks (her weight at the initial visit was 11lbs,,weeks after the trauma she was skin and bones and only 10lbs)
rover.com pretended to be very concerned about Sophie's recovery but refused to pay the second visit bill because the doctor did not definitively diagnose Sophie’s obviously resultant illness with 100% certainty Really? Who gives a 100% certain diagnosis?
The first visit was conservative approx $, because we were to watch and see if she developed pneumonia, leptospirosis, or other bacterial or viral infection from her trauma The second visit of course was more expensive approx $because Sophie was so ill she needed Subq fluids, antibiotic injection, dewormer and nausea shot and medications for continuing at homeWe were All so traumatized by the experience and incredulous that despite the negligent actions of the rover.com sitter, rover.com was refusing to cover the related medical expenses!
Why didn’t the sitter have our dogs behind a safety barrier if she was leaving the house How could she not anticipate one or both of our dogs would try to escape and look for us? How can rover.com refuse to pay the related medical expenses, not to mention our lost money for the hotel in Miami and grooming costs related to the extreme exposure Sophie had being wet all night in the swampy woods filled with predators?
Beware who you trust with your precious family members!

do not use this servicethey misinterpret messages sent to and from sitters illegallyThey violate their own terms of service and over charge people who sit through the service20% which is often times over dollars not accredited by Revdex.com, violates laws and does not do anything for youYour better off using another serviceThey use the costs for advertising and are not insuredSHUT IT DOWNBreaks laws, violates privacy laws, and overall horrible serviceDo NOT USE THESE PEOPLE'S SERVICE SCAM!

I will never use Rover again after my recent experience with themI booked a weekend stay at a sitter’s apartment through Rover while I went away for a wedding, and my dog had a suspected anaphylactic reaction to something on a walk with the sitterShe was taken to an emergency vet hospital and Rover put down a $1,deposit for any care needed thereI was on a flight and unavailable, by the time I got updated the vet hospital had already run up an insane bill in testing and interventions without my consentMy dog was kept over night and released to a new sitter because I was concerned as to what she was exposed to under the care of the sitterRover then said this was all my responsibility because allergies were considered a pre-existing conditionThis had never happened to my dog beforeRover’s customer service was terrible to deal with, and I was left with the total vet bill, full of testing that I never would have consented forLooking out for other conservative pet owners, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

I contacted Rover.com in order to locate and hire a pet sitter to perform drvisits according to the guidelines set out in their website of a set fee (in my case $10) for each minute visit which is paid directly to Rover.comI identified a sitter, met the sitter, exchanged the key and gave her instructions for caring for my animals and completed the necessary hiring procedure via Rover.com websiteI did not further discuss length of visit as the guidelines offered online were sufficientUpon reviewing the sitters visits via my security system logs, the sitter's visits averaged minutes (out of total visits) with visits being minutes or lessI asked the company for review and refund for incomplete service and they have stated that I needed to seek refund from the sitter directlyThey argue that the sitter visited my home times a day as hired to do and that I did not notify the sitter during her contracted period that I was unhappy with her service, therefore th

Avoid this service at ALL COSTSOur week old puppy was nearly killed by a Rover sitter (Caroline Sin *** ***) who left him unattended for 10+ hours and starved him of BOTH food and waterOur brand new $sofa was covered in his vomit, diarrhea, and urine (as was the puppy himself)We caught the Rover sitter in numerous lies and discovered evidence that during the time she was in our house, she consumed alcohol and did not care for our animal whatsoeverRover's reply? That they are not liable and they have ALSO not suspended the sitter so she is currently putting other animals in danger as I typeAbsolutely DisgustingI cannot even explain the emotional stress and anxiety caused by this companyRun, don't walk, in the other direction

I left my dog with sitter for ten days, they were neglected and starved, I would like a refund, they were severely dehydrated when I got them back, dogs seem to have been kept locked in a pissy room most of the time and not fed properly because of
The significant weight loss

I would be very careful in using Rover Do not trust the sitter reviews I think their sitter review system is very easy to manipulate by getting friends to write reviews after "hiring" the sitter for a single day The sitter I used had a five star rating, but she didn't even show up for the first three days of the appointment and lied to me about it Luckily I had a security camera to learn the truth and was able to find another sitter while I was traveling Terrible experience
