On time, gave fair evaluation of problem and cost; completed work timely.
Garage door malfunction predictively on the eve of the coldest day of the season. Called several shops but only A1 Garage Door was responsive to our needs early last evening. Greg arrived, readily defined the problem, resolved it, explaining every detail initially to my wife then to myself upon my arrival/ Last week I was entertaining the prospect of a new door opener but Greg noted that the motor was functioning well and with his roller replacement he was confident that the door should be functional. He took the time to discuss an upgrade for us when time dictated a replacement, and I know who I will call when that time comes.
The installer Jed was very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. He came in time and reviewed the job he needed to do. His recommendations were extremely helpful and geared to my families safety. I’m really pleased with the work he did and thank you for sending him to my house.
It first started with programming my Smart MyQ garage door a second time after changing my password on my router. I was having some real issues and playing around with my garage door and when I finally had it working, I noticed that I couldn’t properly adjust the speed of the downward adjustment. My garage door would slam on the ground and it was very slow. I know I have been wanting to do a tune-up and was relying on the coupons that come in the mail. I could have chosen anyone and decided to pick A1 Garage doors. From the moment I picked up the phone and spoke with the person to the finished product, I couldn’t have been happier. I told the person on the phone that I don’t want to pay extra and all I was wanted was a tune-up and that’s what was scheduled. I had a scheduled appointment the next day. Later in the day, I looked up at my spring and did realize that indeed, it did break and now I knew it was going to be more than a tune-up. That same day, I called back to let them know and she told me, no problem, they will have everything you need on the truck. When the 2 guys arrived, they were awesome and professional. The two gentlemen were, Josh and Jimmy. They were super kind, honest and very knowledgeable. Because I have a TV and a BIG MAXX heater in the garage, I told them that a great working garage door was important to me. I did end up with some awesome upgrades with lifetime warranties and I have never heard a quitter garage door. Not once did they try and talk me into anything. You can select their excellent replacement parts or upgrade with lifetime warranty, and I chose the latter. Josh made it very clear what was available, and never did I feel pressured to be talked into upgrading. He said it was important to him that he let me know all options. These guys were polite, clean and totally professional. I highly recommend A1 Garage doors. A very happy person in Glendale, Wisconsin. I will recommend them to anyone.
Timely, professional, and while recommending things to consider in the future, didn't push any new purchases....
A spring broke in my garage door at about 2 pm, and I was stuck in my garage. I had to pick up my daughter from daycare by 6pm. Jed responded and had everything fixed by 5:30 pm. Excellent, fast and friendly service. Will use A1 again
I appreciate that A1 responds so quickly to my requests. I was especially happy to have such a knowledgeable and helpful technician. Tony was thorough, conscientious and meticulous.
Jed was absolutely wonderful. Very knowledgeable and understanding my needs and wants. Fixing the current door to be able to use it until the new door is ready to install was done swiftly and correctly. Great communication and totally understanding what I was looking for and completely helpful when I changed my mind when finally choosing the door that was perfect for me. Many times sales/service people get frustrated with the consumer when they change their minds but didn’t both Jed a bit. This is the second door and opener I have purchased through A1. Also having Sunday service sets them apart. Thank you Jed!!
We called A1 because our garage door openers weren't working. A man came on a Sunday morning and checked our openers and then checked the door opener itself. He also checked out of few other things that could have been causing our problems. As it turned out, we needed a new opener. There was no high pressure sales pitch. The young man was informative and gave us options. As things stand right now, I would deal with them again.

Jed was very thorough, friendly and knowledgeable! The communication from the initial call through the estimate process was professional and easy.
In the market for replacement doors. Called to let me know tech was on the way as promised - tech arrived earlier than expected and did a great job explaining their product, services and warranty. In the end A1 got our business based on that initial contact.
Excellent service and the work done on overhauling our old garage door setup was terrific. Staff were courteous, professional, and responsive.
I purchased new garage doors and openers from A-1 Garage Doors last summer. They were excellent quality and I paid $6000 for them installed. One the openers was top of the line. On October 13th that opener failed and stopped mid close. It has never done this and to actually stop it in this position you would have to hit the close button 3 times. It wasn't power as it has a back up battery. It was above the line of view of my car so the top of the car caught the garage door bending the bottom panel and damaging my car. I made an emergency call and Paid $240 to have it repaired. I was supposed to get a call from the company and the supervisor. I have called twice and no one has contacted me. They were very responsive during the purchase but now that there is a problem with the product they are absent. This product has a warranty so this should be addressed. What if someone were standing in the line of closure and was injured?
Thank you for your follow-up email. I placed a 4th call to A-1 garage doors after filing my complaint. I was told I would get a call from the field supervisor that day and that this had escalated to corporate complaint department. I did finally get a call on Oct. 24th, returned the call on the 25th to ***- Field Supervisor. Conveyed the problem and situation. He said he was made aware. Stated they would replace the bottom panel but not damage to my car. I told him that was unacceptable since this was a cause of their product and was under warranty. He was going to speak to his management and get back to me. I am still waiting. It has been 10 days.
Ms called us about damage to her garage door that we installed 15 months prior. In the initial recorded phone call she stated that she was distracted and talking on her cell phone when she backed into her garage door. Later on she claimed that the garage door opener that we installed malfunctioned and that was the reason she backed into the door. Looking back on her account in our system she never once called in the first 15 months letting us know about any kind of malfunction with the opener we installed. We did send out one of our technicians at no charge to investigate the situation. He tested the opener and it worked perfectly fine every time. We sent out a second technician a week later with the same results. According to the terms of the agreement when she bought the garage door we have a 1 year labor warranty on any work performed on her garage, which is 11 months longer than the industry standard. Because we value Ms. as a customer, I told her that we would be happy to replace the damaged panels on her garage door. I let her know that this was in no way an admission of fault but as a good deed to a valued customer. She continues to be upset as we refuse to fix the damage to her car.

The response by A-1 garage door technician is a complete fabrication of the facts. I was NOT on my cell phone and was NOT distracted. If you review my call, I was sitting in the car, in my garage with my son who was a witness to the malfunction. We waited quite some time before backing out- more than ample time for the garage to open completely. There was NO DISTRACTION. The garage door malfunctioned plain and simple. It stopped just above the car out of visual sight and damaged my vehicle. The technician that was called out DID CHARGE ME. I have the receipt. That is also a fabrication of facts. It took weeks of calls and they finally came out to assess the problem --mechanical testing only. They never tested the internet or remote signal. This is a garage door that has a wireless connection and can be controlled remotely. This could have malfunctioned that way as well. They never thought about testing the wireless technology. The tech actually stated that there are factors that can create failure such as the type of light bulbs installed. This was NOT shared upon installation. I also shared that the other two doors don't respond well either and the tech confirmed this sometimes can happen with that product. Again not disclosed upon the sale.
A-1 garage doors seems intent on selling products that are not "safe" to the consumer. What if someone would have been standing under this door? They do NOT appear to take ownership of their product but had no trouble collecting their money or claiming they have exceptional service.
Their response is slanderous and fabricated to hide their shortcoming and further underscores their deception. Not only do I have a witness to the event but can also easily prove via cell phone records this was NOT accurate.
I paid a premium price for this product and it has a safety concern. They don't seem to care about consumers well being. I will be sure to post their dishonesty and fabrication on social media to warn consumers of how this company responds to a safety concern. They need to be held accountable.

well, seems like we disagree completely. we have done everything right, going way above and beyond for this customer. However, in a good faith gesture to resolve this issue and complaint,
we propose the following:
1) we send this customer a check for $500.
2) she takes down all bad reviews she wrote about us
3) she chooses another company for all her future garage door needs/ we separate business relations completely.
In order to receive that check she must comply with #2 & #3.

Service was good, but found out I was overcharged by $170. Tech was professional but go elsewhere if price is important.
A-1 provides prompt, courteous, and high quality repairs at a competitive price. The technician was knowledgeable, punctual and polite, making sure everything was functioning properly, and that my garage was clean of debris before leaving the site. I would recommend this business in a heartbeat...and did just that! My brother also found A-1 to be an excellent choice for his garage door needs. A-1 stands behind their products and have always left us feeling we have received an excellent value for our dollar. Thank you A-1!
