Deceived by ADT vendor I'm an engineer and a foreignerSo when I came to the USA to study, I rented a houseIt was me offered the service of ADTAs I did not know the English language very well, I asked what the payment was likeI was informed that I would pay the first months, I would leave a security deposit of dollars and after months I would pay month to MonthSo, I did that When I tried to cancel the contract after year, because I'll need to return abroad, it was told me that the contract was years udring and that the fine was more than dollars This is absurd, because a foreigner with a rented house would never make a year contract, because nothing was ever given to me and the house was already ready(installation) Clearly I was deceived by not knowing a contract in the English language I request intervention to proceed with the cancellation and use my security deposit to pay this last month that has not even won the invoice

I would not recommend using this companyThe customer service is absolutely horribleAnd calling corporate to make a complaint gets you no where and is a jokeI had an appointment for an add on and the person never showed upThey suck periodOh also they charged me twice and refused to refundThey keep giving me the run aroundWhat kind of people are running this company and hire people who are allowed to disrespect customers? Run don't walk

Very disappointedI wasn't expecting this from 'the leading provider in home security.' When I was first contacted by ADT, it was explained to me that I could get a perimeter security system installed, which was better than just having each door and window protectedI was also told this would be covered by the 'basic install package' which was $I was also told we would get a motion sensor that could be calibrated for pets Next, USAA offers a benefit for military members who sign up for ADTWhen I asked about this, they said I would have to contact ADT corporate to get this benefitThe rep goes on to say that the 'benefit' ADT offers for military members (which offers home security monitoring for something like $a month) isn't all that great because if any ADT plan is under $36.99/month then there is no warrantyNo warranty means that every time a tech needs to come out to do anything (replace batteries, move a sensor, replace a sensor, install add'l equipment, etc.) than you have to pay out of pocket for all those costs which she said were $70/hour plus the cost of any equipmentWith a warranty, it's a $service fee that covers everythingSo I did the math (rough estimates here) and even if you have just a few service calls, this so-called benefit isn't really worth itWhen I contacted USAA to get a discount for my home insurance (after getting the security system installed) they were surprised to hear this Fast forward to install date, so the tech had no idea what I was talking about when I mentioned the perimeter security system and explained the closest product ADT provided was the interior motion detectorI told him I had wanted protection on every entrance so he ran a quote that added up to roughly $2,I told him that I would have to cancel the install b/c I wanted to shop around more since this isn't the service that was explained to me and I hadn't anticipated spending more than $200-$At this point he contacted his manager and they were able to work it out so my total install price was $for sensors on every door and windowI was very pleased with this service! Didn't last for longI was asking the tech questions on the sensors, such as will it go off if someone breaks the window? He said YES, it will pick up the vibrations and the alarm will soundI asked how it is able to detect vibrations and he didn't know but insisted it would Ok so now we're up and running and I still have these outstanding questions so I call ADT Support and get a few answered but the rep had no idea about the "broken window sensor" question, so she transferred me to SafeStreets, who had no idea because she 'just sets up appointments' and she tried to transfer me back to ADT! So, I give up for the moment Several weeks later we are away from the home (so the motion sensor inside our living room is armed) and we get a call that the motion sensor trippedI'm pretty sure the ADT rep asked if we had any pets and I said yes, a cat, but was confused because I was told the motion sensor could be calibrated to account for petsShe said no, they can't be calibrated at all, and will even pick up the movement of a large spiderSo I get off the phone and start thinking - if I'm away from home, how do I have any way of knowing whether it's a spider/cat tripping the motion sensor or an intruder? So we had a window sensor that was falling off ever since it was installed and finally called to have someone come out and fix itWhile on this call we asked about calibrating motion sensors for pets and the rep said the tech could help us with that when he was onsiteThe tech comes out (he knew what he was talking about, very pleased with this guy!) and explains things: 1) You CAN calibrate your motion sensor but it only works for 'lower level' movementThis means that once the cat jumps on any furniture (like the couch, since our sensor is set up in our living room where the front door it) then the sensor will still go offIt's only really ideal for hallways where there is no place for animals to jump onto things 2) The sensors on our windows do NOT alarm when the window is brokenThey are standard sensors that only go off when the connection is broken (i.ewindow gets opened)SafeStreets provide sensors that WILL pick up vibrations but these are about twice the size of the standard ones we have installed This last service was just yesterday, hence why I write all this nowI can't stress enough how disappointed I am in the lack of knowledge and misleading information that ADT and their partner, SafeStreets, has put outIf anyone is considering a home security system - ask questions!! Know how your equipment works and how it will protect you so can trust you are protected and understand where you may be vulnerable

From failed contract promises, to countless time on hold and being transferred ,to not receiving proper refund - done I now know this company uses a sub sales companyThis said company had offered me months free services when I had tried to cancel my free trial period.(my reason for cancelling was because upon the sales interaction, I already had a different alarm company set up , in which I was waiting to hear back about how much longer my contract had left) once finding out I still had a year left I chose to cancel the free trial with ADTAbout a month and a half later I noticed a payment of $and change had been withdrawn from my account, from ADTI then sent a text to my sales rep Marlen, inquiring what this was for? He said ADT had apparently 'missed the email' regarding said free services, as he proceeded to assure me this would not happen againThe following couple months passed and looking at my bank statements I noticed in fact I had been charged another monthsI

charged for service that I wasn't gettingno service from ADT yet they continued to bill me and charge my credit card for years and months I've been a faithful customer for 25+ years, paying on time yet, I have been battling ADT for years nowADT Corporate [redacted] FL ***I have made numerous phone calls which yielded broken promises and liesMy fee in my contract covers me for alarm monitoring, maintenance and repairs, yet when they knew that I didn't have a signal, they didn't send anyone out to check my alarm systemI expect a company to provide me with protection and repair faulty equipment ASAPThey weren't protecting me yet, they continued to charge meNothing was done after they knew there wasn't a signalThey refused to come out and look at the equipmentWhat were they monitoring for years? ADT did NOT properly transfer my serviceI am seeking to cancel service without cancellation penalty OR ADT can fix the problem and adjust my bill I lost my home of years-weeks agoI had to move to another residence and I desired to transfer ADT to the new propertyPrior to getting ADT in 2014, my former property was broken into almost twice in a year's timeI decided to get ADT because of them being known as the leader in home securityI spoke to ADT sales representative Solomon [redacted] and told him I wanted to TRANSFER my services from [redacted] to the new residenceI explained to him that I have the ability to see my home via camera when I am awayI am only home days a week because I work almost a miles away, so I rely heavily on these cameras that I had for my former propertyI also had sensors on all of my doors and windows downstairs; and I wanted the same for the new propertyI believed Solomon was setting up the order for me to be able to utiliz

I cancelled the service and was billed $though the contract was fulfilled I moved into a home that had ADT service already in 2/The homeowner and I decided that it would be easier and best to put the service in my name for ease of useI was disappointed to find that I had to pay additional fees and have the system 'replaced' in order to put it in my name, but I compliedI cancelled the service 1/19/because I was moving and the home already had a security system that was paid forI explained this to the representative when I called and was told that I would be billed for a cancellation fee because there was still another year left on the contract! I disagreed, but decided I would dispute the fee when I received the final billing via mailI never received the bill and on 3/8/a total of $was taken out of my checking accountI was shocked and appalled at the fee being charged, I am disappointed as long time customer of ADT that I would even be charged

READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO AND DEAL WITH ADT: Let's start off by saying over two weeks ago I spoke to an adt agent about adding a fire system on top of our alarm system Granted we agreed for the technician to show up on a Saturday October 4th and to wait between 12-5pm Well October the 2nd showed up and I got a call by an installer that he was at my home and was ready to install the fire detector I told him that the agent and I agreed for a Saturday installation between 12-5pm Well I waited Saturday and some installer showed up wanting to upgrade the system from a 2g to a 3g I had to call adt to see what that was about and they said that they had that already scheduled without my knowledge I said ok but what about the fire detector installer? They said he should be there also We waited until 4pm and got tired of waiting so I called adt and asked them where's the tech? Apparently they said that the tech wasn't going to be able to show up [redacted] OFF ONCE HERE Well Tuesday October 7th comes around and I get a recorded message to confirm installation on Thursday Oct9th I had to call adt and see what that was all about sine I never was given any prior notice of someone showing up on a Thursday again Got the run around on how they couldn't find out who set up that appointment time through their notes [redacted] OFF 2ND TIME HERE We then agreed to Saturday Oct25th I get a voicemail on my cellphone two days ago (Oct9th) stating that I would have a technician show up Saturday Oct11th between 12- I write this now after getting off the phone at 4pm with adt wondering what's going on and where's the technician to getting the "well I don't see anything in the notes" run around again After years of service with ADT, I'm offically done with their non-scheduling skills and moving onto [redacted] THIS COMING WEEKEND Thanks to ADT for killing two Saturday's waiting on them to show up and then the "I DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED" AGAIN

ADT would not dispatch when our alarm system went off On 11/28/at approx 3:30pm ADT rcvd a signal that our alarm system was going offThey called the owner of the company to reportThey told him they could not call because we did not have an alarm permit on file so the sheriff would not dispatchMy boss drove the hour to the office and discovered it was a alarmWe DO have an alarm permitI called the sheriff dept and they said they did NOT rcv a call from ADT and that no matter what, they WOULD always respond to an alarm call - permit or notWhen I relayed this to ADT they then said they could not call because I had not sent ADT my alarm permit I have read my contract over and nowhere does it say to send them my permitI had no idea I was suppose to send them the permit...our business could have been cleaned out by the time my boss got there

The equipment does not workIt randomly disarms itself and goes off when there is no threatSmoke alarm is also defective This is a terrible companyA year and two months ago, we signed up for their serviceIt was the biggest mistake we madeThey gave us faulty equipment and expect us to pay for a technician to come and fix itFrom day one, the alarm randomly disarms itself and goes offThis has resulted in a fine from the city that we had to payAll because of their faulty equipmentA few weeks ago, our second floor smoke detector stopped workingAgain, they want us to pay for someone to come fix their crappy equipmentWe have been paying for a service that isn't even being providedSo tonight, I called to cancelI talked to a "manager" who was so rude and told us we would have to pay a $cancellation feeThey broke this contract long before we ever didWe will be going to the courthouse to sue if this fee isn't waivedSave yourself the stress and find a reliable c

I would give stars if that was an option hereWe have been with ADT for several yearsA few days ago I arrived home to an alarm eventAll doors were secured and nobody in the homeI called ADT and was being up-sold to a newer systemI was told ADT is the best and that we should upgradeAfter the sales pitch I was told that my system was offline for past few weeksDoes ADT not understand what home security is all about? If a system is offline for ANY reason they should be on a call immediatelyWe have been paying religiously for years and thought ADT was excellentDo not waste your money or timeWhen I called to cancel they tried to shove a cancellation fee in my faceI do not appreciate the unprofessional conductAlso I emailed [redacted] which is supposedly the President of ADTNever heard back

ADT continued to bill me after I cancelled my account due to a moveAfter I called to fix that, the customer service rep confirmed that service was cancelled, however billing was notThere was no contract in place, so she admitted this was a mistake on their behalf She transferred me to the account care department, where the agent began to question me whether months ago I was asked for password, then processed to tell me that I never called to cancel!!! The account care rep refused to reverse the charges and advised me to petition ADT corporate to open a dispute I never experienced such predatory billingADT provided no service, I had no contract but they still want months worth of billing to collect, with impunityAVOID THEM LIKE THE PLAGUE!!!

I have cancelled my service on December 28, and received a letter from a collection agency for $for January 28, services I cancelled my services on account XXXXXXXX at property address [redacted] , [redacted] via fax and email on December 28, I spoke with the representative Megan in the Loyalty Dept of ADT and was told that I had until January to cancel my services and instead I cancelled in writing on December 28, and faxed my signed cancellation letter and sent it via emailI received a collection letter from [redacted] International on March 6, requesting $ I am outraged that ADT security has submitted a bill to a collection agency I should not be penalized for cancelling my services and my credit should not be affected Please correct this to a zero balance

SOld my home while still in an ADT contractADT will not allow us to break contract without a large even though services are no longer provided I sold my home back in August and have since been trying to get my ADT services canceled at the addressADT will not allow us to cancel our services without a large fee ensuing unless we can convince the new homeowners to start services as wellAny time we try to call and talk to their Customer Services; however, they provide little to no information on this situationEven though we are no longer able to use services that they are supposed to be providing in our contract we are not able to get our contract cancelled

YOU ARE BUYING A CONTRACT, not a security system!!!! After paying $for a system, $installation and 3+ years of $60/month, they shut down my system when I cancelled my monitoring A security system should operate independent from the monitoring service! I bought a security system and had it installed at a cost of $3600, I OWN the system! But without monitoring, They hijack your entire system and render it unusable NOTWITHSTANDING the system has only worked about 60% of the time, I've had a camera that has only worked for a couple of months with one issue after another SERVICE does NOT exist with this company My system was not even functional for months after install and when I asked for refund on monitoring I was told that the monitoring function was working and therefore I had to pay!!!! AURGH!!!! RIP OF!

Ordered new account, and ADT applied loyalty customer credits to new account locationPaid up front the difference of $Set up appt few weeks ago, to install today for 8am-12pmTech arrives at 1245pmInforms me he doesn't have door sensors that I requested, plus he is almost hours lateI call ADT on the phone, and got the RUDEST Manager that I got transferred to while I was still talking to the previous RepThen Manager gets on phone with nothing but attitude, and talks over me the whole time offering a $off my 1st billShe was practically yelling at the end, and had the nerve to call me [redacted] ***...blah blah blah talking over meSo I said you are a rude unprofessional excuse for a ManagerShe was still talking over me, and I said rude, and hung up!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL PEOPLE HIRED AT ADTHORRIBLE CUSTOMER 'SERVICE'!! They used to be outstanding service years agoWhat happened??! Would NOT recommend them!!
