voicemail messages were left on ###-###-####, the number listed in the original Revdex.com inquiry, the customer has not respondedThe engine has been inspected, no manufacturing defects were found, this is not a warrantable repair

A Briggs & Stratton Product Specialist talked to the customer, explained that the warranty covers manufacturing defects for a time frame (typically years but may differ based on the model) from the date of purchase The warranty does not cover maintenance or fuel related issues
The customer stated a dealer charged him $for a carburetor cleaning which is fuel related and not a manufacturing defect The Product Specialist offered to reimburse the cost of the repair as a one time customer courtesy/good will gesture The customer declined to provide the model number of the engine or the name of the dealer that performed the repairThe customer then declined the reimbursement offer and ended the call

Revdex.com: Briggs and Stratton's warranty terms are for their benefit only and not the customer'sWhy would anyone want to take a defective product to one of their own dealers to have a determination made? It would be like going to a health insurance company's doctor for a diagnosis after having a claim deniedIt's all part of the run aroundThank you for all your effortsI know they would have never returned any of my calls without your helpThanks again

Briggs and Stratton did not try to resolve this problem per their warrantyI had the mower repaired due to the fact I had no way of transporting a 66" mower & many authorized dealers rejected doing the repair due to the fact the mower would not fit through their doorsBriggs and Stratton DID NOT honor the warranty and determined it was a carburetor problem over the phone and I was advised it would not be covered under warranty! You cannot determine a repair over the phone as they previously statedI will never purchase another product with a B&S engine! Customers need to be warned about this company!

The customer has been contacted by a product specialist and was advised to take the unit back into the original service dealer Once the unit is at the authorized service dealer the product specialist will work with the dealer to resolve the inquiry

Briggs & Stratton did not manufacture the *** lawn mower and does not have access to replacement parts for the mower.Customer was referred to HOP (the manufacturer of the mower) for information on the mower warranty and receiving any missing mower parts

The warranty on this engine is years from the date of purchase by the first retail consumer and covers against manufacturing defects and/or workmanship of the engineIt does not cover damage caused by improper use or abuse, improper maintenance or repair, wear and tear, or stale or
unapproved fuel. Per our warranty policy, the customer was instructed to take the unit, along with the original proof of purchase, into a local authorized Briggs and Stratton dealer for a cause-of-failure analysisA deposit to cover the cost of analysis may be chargedIf a manufacturing defect is found the deposit will be reimbursed. Once the unit is at an authorized dealer we can work with the dealer to resolve the problemWe cannot make any warranty decisions via email or phone

The engine was replaced as a good will concession, with the understanding that the customer would be responsible for the installation/labor charges The engine was technically out of the warranty time frame and did not carry any additional warranty An extended year warranty was given to the customer per his request in this Revdex.com complaint, Briggs & Stratton has declined to offer reimbursement on the labor charges

Customer states the engine was purchased from Rural King in May Rural King is not an authorized Briggs & Stratton service dealer The original engine was a model series that was replaced with a 31R model series, not a direct replacement engine The 31R model engine had to be modified to fit the application However, the replacement engine still has a year warranty for any manufacturing defects from the date of purchase. The warranty will expire in May As a customer courtesy, Briggs & Stratton agreed to cover the cost of the head gasket repair, which included parts and hours labor. The customer was charged $for a replacement OHV cover and dipstick which were damaged by the engine installer, who was not an authorized Briggs & Stratton service dealer. The customer agreed to this arrangement prior to the repair Briggs & Stratton has declined to offer an extended warranty on this engine and consider this case resolved

Briggs & Stratton is standing by their original decision, the engine is outside of the warranty period, a second opinion diagnostic was performed as a courtesy at no charge to the customer, all issues reported were attributed to improper maintenance, there were no manufacturing defects found on this engine, this is not a warrantable repair

Customer was contacted on June 14, offer was extended and accepted Customer will be sent replacement unit
