AutoCheck Reviews (367)

We have finished reviewing Mr. [redacted] concerns regarding an accident reflecting on our Vehicle History Report for his vehicle. AutoCheck receives information as is from various sources. We are not informed of any discrepancies upon receipt of the data until disputed by an individual or business...

entity. If the data is deemed inaccurate, we remove it. However, that is contingent upon supporting evidence from our data sources and contacts. Upon review, we were able to confirm the accident was reported to Mr. [redacted] vehicle in error. Therefore, we removed the accident from the Vehicle History Report and Mr. Maynard was notified of this correction. While we certainly understand the urgency in Mr. [redacted] concern, we are not able to remove data from the vehicle history report upon request and must be able to verify whether or not the data is accurate. This allows us to continue providing reliable and valuable information on our Vehicle History Reports.

Regards,
[redacted] Hello. I was offered a free report on one vehicle, and was sent a code to use.
However, the code did not work, and it took me close to 2 hours of attempts and then assistance to get the report. This was not helpful.
And then what? The report is worthless.  More of the same. If I had paid, I would be seeking a refund. They did waste my time.
It was supposed to have accident reports.  Well, it said there was one accident, but nothing at all about it.
It just wrote:
1 Accident record(s) reported through accident data sourcesLater it wrote:
06/21/2013 ** State Agency   ACCIDENT REPORTED ([redacted]:[redacted])---It gave no information about the accident, the extent, etc. In fact, I already knew about 2 accidents, but no details.
To make matters worse, it offered a way too high rating, despite that the vehicle is damaged, one bumper sticks out, and the interior worn, etc.
They are not offering a service for which they should  be charging.  They give virtually no information, and not what they are advertising, not what a consumer expects to get on purchasing the report.
In short, it is all a scam.
I request that Experian completely drop this non-service, or get completely out of the "credit reporting" business due to bad ethics.
Thank you.

Without them providing the source of their information or the auction house that provides this information there is no way for me to prove them wrong.  They are failing to address the original concern, and I don't find the response acceptable at all. Their own report shows that the car has had *no* accidents, and then they claim that there is frame damage! The report is self-inconsistent.  Finally a car-fax report on the same car shows none of the damages claimed by this business' report.

data sources and contacts. After further research and verification we have submitted to remove the air bag deployment from the AutoCheck report for Ms. [redacted] vehicle and have provided her an updated copy.

As a repository for data, information is reported on a continual basis as it becomes available. This data may be more current or historically dated, but is listed to the report as it...

is received.
Experian compiles reports from extensive, multiple sources in an effort to report on the history of the life of a vehicle relative to its vehicle identification number (VIN). The AutoCheck vehicle history report will call out certain historical pieces which may be of importance to a customer. The odometer readings reported which are flagging odometer inconsistencies were reported by various State DMVs in regards to different titles which this vehicle has held. As a repository for data, Experian Automotive will publish data received by originating data sources.
At this time the events will remain reports as part of the vehicle's history based on the data reported and on file with the New York Department of Motor Vehicles. The odometer reading in question is listed on the vehicle’s title record on file with the New York DMV. As long as the odometer reading is on file with the NY DMV, it will remain as part of the vehicle’s history. If the odometer reading is on file with the state in error, Mr. [redacted] should contact the NY DMV directly for correction. Mr. [redacted] may provide supporting documentation of correction by the New York DMV to Experian Automotive via email to [email protected] with reference to case #[redacted] upon which we will review further for possible amendment to the AutoCheck vehicle history report.

information available to consumers as soon as possible (i.e. as soon as it is reported to us) and do believe that vehicle history reports are important because they provide a unique view into a vehicle's past that could take several months for a consumer to gather directly from various state DMV's and other data sources.  However, this should only be one step in the pre-owned vehicle purchasing process.  In addition to purchasing an AutoCheck report, we encourage every pre-owned shopper to physically inspect the vehicle whenever possible and to have a licensed mechanic inspect the vehicle to ensure the best and safest vehicle choice is made.   For additional information on AutoCheck’s terms and conditions, please visit:  http://www.autocheck.com/consumers/disclaimer.do

Thanks.

We apologize for any misunderstanding surrounding AutoCheck's free vehicle search.   AutoCheck offers a free vehicle search by VIN or US License plate which will provide a summary of vehicle information which is decoded from the VIN as well as available record count, which tells consumers how...

many records we have available for that particular vehicle. This is meant to be a quick check for someone to determine whether they would like to purchase a full report to learn more about those records listed. Valuable records provided on a full AutoCheck report may include, but are not limited to state title & registration data, accident data, auction data, theft data, service records, etc. which are specific to the VIN requested. This free vehicle search is not an advertisement for a free vehicle history report.

When discussing the services with the representative that is no longer working there (odd), I clearly stated what I am looking for. I also went over the features described on AutoCheck website. Please see attachment which is the screenshots from AutoCheck website. It clearly states that Manufacturer data is available e.g "Open Recalls" and "Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles". AutoCheck clearly misrepresented the services they can provide. Please note, they did not reach out to me. I reached out to them and specifically asked if they can do what I need... The answer was a clear YES. That is why we signed the contract.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. In our case, the erroneous information was finally removed.  However, their failure to remove it in a timely manner and unwillingness to let us know which police department had the alleged (now confirmed erroneous) police report is unacceptable for consumers.  They do not have the right to post information about a consumer's vehicle but not provide the consumer with the "source" of their information.  They indicated that they could not violate the privacy of their "source."  If somebody has provided false information about the condition of my vehicle it affects the value of my vehicle.  The representative tried to hide behind the fact that it was not their information and the accuracy is the responsibility of the source of the information.  That is absolutely false.  They are providing a "service" that people pay for that is supposed to accurately state the condition of vehicles based on their accident and repair history.  Since they are providing the "service" and being paid for that "service" they are legally responsible for the accuracy of the information and they must remove inaccurate information promptly.  If I had not continued to push them to remove the information, their error would have cost me $5000 in the lease deal that I obtained.  The "privacy" of a police department is not guaranteed.  It is a public institution and if they have records of an accident involving the vehicle I own, I am allowed to see that information.  Fix your process for timely resolution of disputes.  3-5 business days is not acceptable in some cases.

It sounds nice to blame a customer for agreeing to spam but the reality is all customers demand is being treated fairly. I do not want emails titled "Your Subscription update" to be spam but what the title actually states! These emails were not titled special AutoCheck offer and survey which is what they are. Tell me again how I did not agree to get "my" subscription updates which imply expiration dates?

We have reviewed A [redacted] concerns regarding a Salvage Title Brand reported by the State of Georgia, which was reflected on the purchased AutoCheck Vehicle History Report. On March 13, 2017, we confirmed the aforementioned Title Brand was reported in error. As a result, the Title Brand...

was removed and an email was sent to the Consumer to advise of the correction.

According to the notes in our system for the vehicles in question, the salvage titles issued from the state have been removed because the salvage remark was due to a theft that occurred.  Theft recovery information has also been added to the report to reflect that the car is no long an active...

left.  However, the insurance loss record the customer disputes indicates that the owner of the vehicle at the time the theft occurred, was paid out via a claim they made to the insurance company.  Technically this constitutes a said "loss" for the insurance company and lines up with the event detail captured on the report.   Additional notes indicate that the customer purchased the vehicle directly from the insurance company after the vehicle was recovered and possession was taken by the insurance company.AutoCheck feels confident that we are correctly depicting the vehicle's "history" since the insurance company did pay out to the previous owner when their vehicle was stolen.  If there is additional information the customer can provide us to help support the fact that a claim was NOT paid out on to the previous owners when the vehicle was stolen, but later recovered, he can call us toll free at 888-409-2204 M-F between 8am - 5pm CST and reference case # [redacted].
