AutoCheck Reviews (367)

The customer needs to provide us with the VIN# for the vehicle he/she has the dispute with so we can research further.

We acknowledge [redacted] dissatisfaction. Experian Automotive can only work with the information available to us from our data providers. We continually try to update and add quality sources so we may provide the most current and accurate data available, however when such data appears on the report depends on when received by the source.  We encourage [redacted] to review our terms and conditions at: http://www.autocheck.com/vehiclehistory/autocheck/en/termsOfUse
As previously stated, Buy Back Protection only applies to certain title brands not disclosed by a state. Accidents or other types of repair work are not covered by Buyback.  As the vehicle is not eligible for a Buyback Protection claim, we must respectfully decline [redacted] request for vehicle buyback and/or diminished value compensation.

Our data sources continually send AutoCheck current & historical information, however we cannot verify from the data sources we’re
contracted with that a theft brand was ever in their systems.
Our Buyback...

Protection Program covers title brands AutoCheck did not
receive from our state data sources and we recommend that the consumer file a
claim and provide the documentation showing the brand was missed so that
we can review their concerns further.
A claim can be filed by visiting:

The one-year clause the customer is disputing is clearly stated in paragraph 4 of the agreement they signed.   However, after additional review and as a sign of goodwill, we have decided to let the customer out of their contract effective today, 5/31/17.   The customer is still obligated...

to pay for all outstanding dues prior to the cancellation date of 5/31/17.For additional questions the customer can reach us directly at 888-409-2204 M-F 8-5pm CST or by emailing [email protected] and referencing case #'s [redacted] & [redacted].

Wanted to see a full report before spending or wasting money on the unlimited for 25 days. You have to pay $30 for a single report and then if you decide you want to get the subscription for the unlimited 25 days, you do not get any credit for the single report you paid $30 for.

This is a typical Experian plot to extract the most money it can for a somewhat limited report of which most information can be had online for around $5. It only had 2 items on the report that were not on the report I paid $6 for.

The product or report is good, the price is just a big ripoff. Experian does not pay anything for the information they have in these reports. It all comes from dealers and public information sources such as DMV. And to add to insult, the dealers that subscribe and report information must pay a subscription fee to Experian.

Experian ends up with 100% profit for each report. It cost them absolutely nothing to get the information and they sell it for $30. Ten years ago the single reports were around $10. I paid $29.99 for unlimited reports 10 years ago and now that is the cost for a single report.

Carfax and AutoCheck share similar sources, but also have different
sources.  There can be instances where
AutoCheck reports something Carfax does not and vice versa.
We are continually trying to improve our...

product by seeking new data
providers and obtaining additional information, whether current or historical,
however, AutoCheck relies on our third party data-sources to supply us with
information, so we can only report what is provided to us.
AutoCheck Buyback Protection helps customers in situations where a state
issued title brand was filed, but AutoCheck did not pick up.  Unfortunately, this consumer’s situation does
not qualify them for Buyback Protection because accidents, insurance losses (which
in most cases should be reported to the DMV’s) and other general information
not reported are not covered within the Buyback Protection Terms & Conditions.

contingent upon supporting evidence from our data sources and
contacts.  Upon verification from our
data source and review of the police report, we are accurately displaying the
information in question.  Our records
show that the consumer contacted Experian Automotive on 1/30/14 to inform us that
he has worked with the police agency to update their records and will be faxing
an amended report to us when complete.

Response: The company response is not only not helping, but indicates further problems with their methods of advertising. I had thought that the company I was trying to do business with was called AutoCheck, and now I see that it is Experian!! This makes it deceptive. This is further ethical problem.   None the less, the company describes itself, in regards to the advertisement, and states that it does not advertise. Next it disagrees with its own statement, and says that it "advertises a free ..." Experian / AutoCheck should decide if it does or does not advertise.  It is being dishonest. It says that it does advertise a "free VIN Check which will provide information decoded from the VIN, as well as a record count.,,, "I agree that, yes, Experian / AutoCheck do advertise for this "free VIN Check..." and that it promises to provide information. And it indicates that it is a service. But it fails to provide any information, and certainly not what it promised to attract a consumer to go to its site and plug in personal information. Only then does one see that there will be a charge. Today it has posted: [redacted]Know the History.Get a Free VIN Check. Was the car reported in an accident or damaged in a flood? Search Autocheck's extensive vehicle database to find out now.-----This notice did not self-identify as an ad. It seemed like one more [redacted] service. It asks for the VIN of your car. But then it does not give the information it promises. It does not let you "know the history", it does not tell you if the car was "reported in an accident or damaged in a flood."On this first page of the [redacted], it does not say you have to pay for the information. Therefore, this was false and deceptive advertising. This company should stop using false, misleading and deceptive advertising to draw people to pay for services which are presented as "Free".

We display the data as is, and are not informed of any discrepancies upon
receipt of the data until disputed by a consumer or commercial entity.  If deemed inaccurate, we remove the data,
however, that is contingent upon supporting evidence from our data sources and contacts.  As previously stated, the record which was
disputed was a match in the files, but was later removed when supporting
evidence was provided to us.  In addition,
the case details show no type of pre-arranged agreements or statements made between
Experian Automotive and the consumer that would have led the consumer to believe
that Experian Automotive would reimburse any fees paid by the consumer.   Again, we apologize for any inconveniences
the consumer has experienced, but we will not be issuing the consumer a check
for $6.

It is important to note that AutoCheck only provides the data in the format it was provided to us by our various sources. In this case, the accident/damage events were reported as minor. However, we are not able to publish details of the damage beyond what is already displayed on the Vehicle History Report.

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.1. I listed my van for sale on [redacted], and [redacted] and
AutoCheck attached this report to my listing. I did not request an AutoCheck
report, I was not a party to the contract that [redacted] and AutoCheck have with each other. I
was not given the opportunity to opt out of having the report attached to my
listing. I did not at any time purchase a report from AutoCheck's website. This means also that I never agreed to nor was I asked to agree to
AutoCheck’s user agreement in which they claim they are not responsible for
errors and that their data comes from sources they “believe” to be reliable.2.AutoCheck claims that
"The selling party at that time, would have been informed that an
announcement of frame damage due to the alterations on the frame, would have to
be reported prior to moving forward with a sale.  The buying party would have also been
informed of the announcement."
This is clearly false, as the auction house that made the report reported this van for sale on six different occasions, and only reported the frame damage twice. The last time the van was put up for auction and sold there was no report of frame damage. Specifically:
On November 14th 2011 an Auto Auction House
reported this van for sale with NO REPORT OF FRAME DAMAGE.
On November 16 2011 the same Auction House reported this van
for sale with NO REPORT OF FRAME DAMAGE.
On November 30 2011 the same Auction House reported this van
for sale with a report of frame damage.
On December 16 2011 the same Auction House reported this van
for sale with a report of frame damage.
On July 17 2012 the same Auction House reported this van for
sale with NO REPORT OF FRAME DAMAGE.
On September 27 2012 the same Auction House reported this
van for sale with NO REPORT OF FRAME DAMAGE.
3. Since AutoCheck admits the lift installation was done by the [redacted] and meets all required standards, if they insist that this qualifies as frame damage they must identify each and every [redacted] equipped van in the U.S. as having frame damage. AutoCheck reports are used by buyers to determine the value of a car they are considering purchasing, and these erroneous reports of frame damage mean any disabled person with a van will be unable to get full value for their vehicle if they try to sell it. This in my opinion amounts to "Disparate Impact" discrimination based on AutoCheck's policies. Furthermore, AutoCheck's and [redacted]'s knowingly providing false information to potential customers, now that they have the facts, amounts to "Interference with a Contract."
If AutoCheck is unwilling to do the right thing, I will begin contacting other organizations, such as [redacted], The American Disability [redacted] and anyone else that I can contact.

[redacted]

I would not recommend Autocheck. I was never able to access my past reports. Nobody at Autocheck ( two support calls) were able to resolve my problem. If I needed to access a car I have done a report on, I would have to use one of my allotted reports which I paid for. I ran into two vehicles where the number of owners was incorrect also. Carfax gives you more information on a vehicle such as past repair records.

We have reviewed [redacted] complaint and must respectfully decline her request for $1500. Experian Automotive, AutoCheck is a repository for data and we display information as reported by proprietary sources. When data is disputed we work with our reporting sources for verification. Inquiries are...

answered during business hours in the order in which they are received, and due volume and varying research requirements resolution times may vary. [redacted] case [redacted] was managed within 5 business days. The reporting source responded with their verification and the report was updated at that time. It is unfortunate that [redacted] had to make the decision to sell her vehicle before our research was completed, but the loss is not the result of any wrong doing by Experian.

This is an outright lie! And I have proof; I've purchased personal use vehicles that I looked up before purchasing that I pay insurance & titled under my name. They are not only discriminating against me, but also defaming my name and character.

complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. While it is true that they did correct their reporting records after I supplied them with documentation to prove the correct mileage they made no offer to reimburse me the fee I had to pay to be able to access the information they were providing to prospective customers.  After receiiving information from prospective customers that my mileage claims did not match the Autocheck report it was necessary for me to pay the Autocheck fee to discover what information they were inaccurately reporting concerning my vehicle.  I feel that since their information was in error I should be reimbursed for that fee.
