Blacklight Slide Reviews (159)

Hi there,
Our Indianapolis Blacklight Run is being combined with our sister event, Foam Glow 5K.  All participants were notified and given options on 2/2/2016.  As stated on our website and in the waiver that all of the above participants listed did indeed sign, dates and location...

are subject to change and we are a no refunds event. We will however make an exception for this group.  They will need to send a refund request with ATTN to Ryan at [redacted]
Thanks,
Ryan

I am hosting an exchange student who saw the foam glow website and wanted to participate and wanted our family to participate. The website advertised an early registration deadline that Nov. 18 and I was looking at the website on Nov. 18. So I signed my family of 6 up for the event ($150). I thought it more than coincidental that the date happened to be the same date but my exchange student was excited and someone close to her had died that very morning in her home country so I wanted to do this to cheer her up, plus it looked like good family fun. But smelling a rat, I came to work this morning and thought to look at the website to see what the early registration date was, and JUST AS I EXPECTED, the new early registration deadline is Nov. 19 -- today's date. So everyone who checks out the website will be pressured to "buy today" -- especially given the huge difference between prices - $20 per person in advance, $50 after the early registration "deadline". I believe this is false advertising and a high pressure tactic to get your money. This plus the "no refund" policy takes advantage of people who, like me unfortunately, didn't research the company before signing up. I feel I was tricked bythis false advertising and when I looked around online, I saw complaints about the company changing the race date or cancelling races altogether in other instances, overbooking an event upwards of 15,000 people, and delivering less than promised in terms of the foam run experience--all with an unwillingness to issue refunds.

To whom it may concern,
We have only received one email from [redacted] about the duplicate.  She did indeed purchase one standard registration and one VIP registration for Patrick. Unfortunately, her option is to transfer the VIP registration to someone else and then we will credit the...

difference. Please email us at [email protected] for assistance.Ryan

To whom it may concern,
I spoke with [redacted] many times explaining our policies.  It is stated in the waiver that he signed that our event is not refundable. (Please see below attachment) This participant did not contact our staff until over a month after the event had taken place...

requesting a refund.  It is stated on our FAQ page that if you cannot attend or need a transfer, you must contact our email service prior to the event taking place. Services were rendered for this event to all 9,000 participants that registered.  Unfortunately, there is no further option to provide at this point.Ryan

I reached out to [redacted] today and had a nice chat with her.  She was issued a refund quit a while back and the matter was resolved.[redacted]

Our offer still stands to assist [redacted] in the following options.
1. Transfer to a slide event next year.
2. Transfer to a new participant.
3. Transfer to our Blacklight Run in Tampa on October 15, 2016.
I am happy to assist in any of these options.

They emailed me saying my event was going to be postponed and never got back to us about a new date. I tried to contact them through their website to get my money back and received no response. I tried to message them on facebook but I'm not really expecting much at this point. It's been months since I bought the ticket and the even was supposed to take place in September. I've seen similar reviews about events getting postponed. Not a trustworthy business.

Hello,

I received an email below in August stating that my Black Light Slide event has been postponed. I checked the website today to see if there is new information regarding a date, however it says it has been postponed until 2018.

I am not able to attend any of the other alternative events offered because they are not offered in my state. The event was canceled due to logistics on your end and not mine. I was ready, willing, and able to participate in the date I registered. Your refund policy does not state what should happen if the event is canceled because of failure on your part. It does not seem right that you are refusing to refund my registration and additional merchandise, when the event was canceled on your end. It also does not seem right to keep my registration in limbo for an entire year or in the off chance you will return to my city.

I am again requesting a full refund due to negligence on the events end. please let me know when I can expect my refund.

The full refund I am requesting is not stated in your refund policy. It does not state what should happen if the even if canceled because of events on your end.
Thanks,

Cinamon

I will stand behind my previous response, our Crew and our company policies. The event took place as promised and it is unfortunate that Brian was dissatisfied with the event.  That does not validate a refund as each of his complaints were personal preference, not a failure of our companies obligations.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and find that this resolution would be satisfactory to me.  I will wait until for the business to perform this action and, if it does, will consider this complaint resolved.

Regards,

I cannot transfer to someone else bc no other runs are in my state and I have nobody to transfer the registration to.

I am never going to an event put on by this company again. I participated in the blacklight run in Tampa, FL at the FL state fairgrounds. Last night (6/27/15) was so disorganized and so over sold 15,000 people and that's not including the ones who joined that day. It was my first 5K so being excited about it we got there early enough to miss the lines trying to get in (I had a friend that sat in line for 2 hours trying to park) but we didn't get much color powder on us once the race started. We were the 5th or 6th group to go through and by the time we got to the areas they throw powder on you they were out (if we wanted colored powder on us we had to pick it up off the ground and throw it at each other). You didn't see any volunteers on the course helping out. A few black light spots didn't even work. The pot holes were horrible (I walked it and even had problems with them). The paths were hard to see and once you started runners and walkers were mixed together so bad that people were tripping over each other or running in to each other. Someone is going to wind up getting hurt on one of their runs. I expressed my concern on their facebook page and they deleted my statement about last night. Blacklight run deleted anything negative on their page and then blocked the people from commenting. Foam glow is also put on by this company and I was going to go to it but after last night I have decided not to. You would think with the amount of money they made off of the event last night they would have been a little more organized.

They didn't even read my complaint or...

request. As stated, I can't attend the Tampa event without spending more money, driving 4+ hours to get there, and finding 3 other people to attend the event with me. I want to be refunded for having had the event cancelled back in June.

It is unfortunate but it took filing this complaint to have the corporation issue me an exchange for the date in question. I doubt this will be the last you hear of those complaining about them, but some of their practices are very unethical and don't make for a good equation for a solid business.

Regards,

To whom it may concern,
This participant was refunded his whole purchase amount on 7/8/2016.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

This is not acceptable.  How long can you continue to hold my money with out giving me service?  It's going on 3 months past when the race should have taken place & we have not heard anything from your company, not a word that you are still working on rescheduling. Some kind of notification or update to those that have already paid you would be appreciated.  That's the most frustrating part.  I am aware that I will not get my money back but I will also not associate myself with another function your company is responsible for & I will do my part in making everyone I come in contact with aware of you lack of proper business skills

Regards,

Jennifer Crosby-wells

Hi there!
An email was sent out to every participant before the event took place informing them of logistical issues and a postponement. The event has since been rescheduled for June 25th 2016 and all registered participants have been placed in the event.  If you no longer wish to...

attend, we are happy to help transfer the registration to a new participant.  Unfortunately, the registered participant did agree to the no refunds policy at the time of registration.

To whom it may concern,
We did communicate with [redacted] and she did request to be transferred to the event in Tampa. All three of her registrations were transferred to the event that will take place on October 8, 2016 per her request.
