CarShield Reviews (%countItem)

At the end of June my car began giving me problems. I immediately took my car to a repair facility. The claim was denied by Carshield because the mileage reported on my account was incorrect. It took me several weeks and talking to 13 representatives before they agreed to listen to the recording when I signed up for my account. The mileage was adjusted after listening to this recording. The original repair facility stated that my car could not sit on their lot while this was straightened out with carshield. I had my car towed to my home. The car sat at my home until this was straightened out. The car was not driven, as evidenced by my reported mileage. Fast forward to August 17. The mileage is finally corrected. I call several repair facilities in my neighborhood. I drive it to a repair facility 1.2 miles from my home. The car has been in this facility since this date. Today September 24 the claim was denied. The report states that the car was continuously driven. It states,"CURRENT FAILURE OF THE WATERPUMP WITH CONTINUED OPERATION RESULTED IN OVERHEAT AND CYLINDER HEAD WARPAGE ALLOWING COMBUSTION GASES TO BYPASS THE HEAD GASKETS." Then they go on to quote the policy. . RESULTING FROM OVERHEAT, ENGINE SLUDGE, CARBON, PRE-IGNITION, DETONATION, VARNISH, RUST, CORROSION, FOREIGN OBJECTS, DIRT, DUST, LIQUID, CRACKED RUBBER / NEOPRENE PARTS, DRY-ROT, ROAD CHEMICALS, ABUSE, ALTERATION, OR LACK OF PROPER AND NECESSARY AMOUNTS OF COOLANT, FUEL, FLUIDS OR LUBRICANTS;"(highlighting the resulting from overheat) to further support this denial. My car was out of commission since the first time it overheated at the end of June. I have been without a car for three months and was still paying on my warranty. I spoke to several RF in my area when trying to get my car fixed. When I stated that I had a warranty through carshield they all refused to take my car because and I quote, "They will find a way to deny your claims and we cannot afford to keep your car sitting on our lot." This was proven true as they are stating that I continued to drive my car even though I have been without a car for three months. When I came on here to report this company I noticed that using "overheating" as a strategy to deny claims is a pattern. This company is engaging in unfair practices and false advertisement practices.

We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

As noted on the first three
pages of your contract, American Auto Shield is the administrator of your vehicle
service contract and has full authority over repair procedures, approvals,
denials and payments. We have contacted them to obtain information on the
repair claim yo u have referenced. their notes indicate it is very clear the engine did overheat. There are signs of long term leaks from water pump and from previous repair of engine oil cooler. The engine oil cooler commonly only leaks oil not coolant and the only pictures provided by your repair facility show a small leak. The coolant levels would need to get pretty low to allow an overheat condition. It is unclear whether the water pump or head gasket failure was the full cause of failure on your vehicle. The cylinder head warpage is solely caused by continued operation with the engine overheating.

The claims department is going to set up your claim to cover head gasket repair and water pump replacement since those two items are covered under the contract. You can expect a phone call from the claims department shortly.

Thank you for being a loyal CarShield customer.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution of fixing the head gaskets and water pump as satisfactory to me. However, I am still waiting for a call from the claims department as it was noted that I should receive a call soon. I called carshield twice and was hung up to follow up about this claim. (10/5/20 @ 2:34 and 2:37). The number I called was ***. As I am writing this I attempted to contact carshield twice and was hung up on twice. The woman I spoke to noted that paperwork was not submitted by the RF. However, the requested paperwork was submitted. Through this process I have continued to be disappointed with the customer service I have received and being hung up on twice was another level of poor customer service. I have remained patient throughout this process but the level of negligence continues to leave me baffled.

I have called and requested a refund from day one of all funds for all 3 vehicles and the representative told me I will not get a refund for all my vehicles from the past months and I just have loss my money. I asked for a supervisor and she said they are busy and not available for anyone to speak with me and leave a number. I explained to the rep that I never used the service and the repair company that I wanted to used said they won’t accept CarShield and I told them that and CarShield rep response was that’s not true and I requested a refund for all contracts under CarShield and she said that’s not going to happen. I just want all my money back. The contract numbers are

I had car shield for a few months and I really needed them to help with the cost of my transmission repair. So because of this COVID-19 *** they couldn't send any inspectors out to look at the car and they said just to pay for the repair and they wouldn't reimburse for the $1,000 I spent to get my car fixed. Well after 3 weeks of them making me run around for them to do their job, they denied my claim and now I couldn't pay the person back that I borrowed the money from. They are fake and I don't believe that they would help anyone out in the time of need.

Car Shield is the most dishonest company that I have ever come across. I opened up an account with them in June of 2020 during a pandemic and they still choose to sale me false hopes and dreams. I spoke to an agent named Nick and he assured me that would be any discrepancies when it comes to getting repairs on my car. After being on the phone with him for a litter over 2 hours, I felt very comfortable with the decision to open up an account with them. Well Nick lied to me. He didn't tell me the entire truth, he left out the part about my vehicle needed to be power train( what ever that means). So here it is 3 months into this account, every payment being on as explained. My car is in much needed repair and my car isn't covered at all. I mean, not at all is my car covered. Nothing on my car is covered!!!! Nothing at all!!!!!! Nick told me that my car would be cover from A to Z. And on this day 09/23/2020 and nothing is considered to have coverage on my car. I have missed 2 day of work due to the fact that I don't have transportation because my car needs repairs. I feel so shamed right now because anything that's to good to be true usually is, to good to be true. The commercial being advertised on T.V. is promoting false hope for people with used cars. I feel like that is false advertising. The commercial make you think that if your purchase this kind of protection for your vehicle. You wont have any out of pocket cost, and you will be worry free. Well that's a huge lie!!!!!!!!!! they don't cover any car's at all. When I first starting having a problem with my car. I drove around town for a couple of days because no one would except the car shield insurance policy. Many of the mechanics all stated that they don't excepted car shield because car shield wont cover or pay for any car repairs needed on the vehicles. And it's crazy because when you go to their website they don't advertise their reviews, which should have been a red flag for me. So far I'm out of wages from work, I owe money for car repairs, and I owed a refund for all of the payments that I've made to this car shield account. Let this be a BUYER BEWARE matter. Car shield and it's employees along with the folks in the advertisement on T.V. are *** and they deserve to be punished for being a BIG FRAUD.

I purchased CarShield with a car with 32000 miles on it, went for an alignment and front tire rods have play. I called to start a claim and all of a sudden they don’t cover that even though I qualified for the new car coverage.
Also don’t get sick with covid or anything else. This company wants their money now regardless of what’s going on in the world.
RIP OFF I would use a different company

I purchased a warranty with car shield. my vehicle began having issues. I took it to a mechanic. the mechanic said he believed it was something major. my car was taken to mechanic on 7/29/2020. the claims rep was very slow, didnt respond, I had no info. they then told mechanic to break car down, which would cost me an additional $1200 that was not covered by warranty. FINALLY on 9/18/2020 after numerous calls to car shield requesting a supervisor I finally received a denial. it took them 6 weeks to make a determination. mechanic says my engine needs repair, the warranty covers repair but they refuse to pay it. they have denied my claims

I had coverage with this company and went to cancel it. When I spoke with the representative she told me it would from from $99 per month to $69 per month. When the charge came it was $99 dollars. I called to cancel services as they are clearly scamming. They sent an email stating that it would be refunded in 48-72 hours. It wasn't. I called back a week and a half later and the rep said I wasn't eligible for a refund? I now have my bank looking into fraudulent charges. Do not do business with this company. Its is awful.

I'll try to make this as brief as possible. I purchased a vehicle about 3 weeks ago. Decided to call car shield to find out about a price quote for coverage. I told the lady I spoke to I was not interested after receiving their quote. Car Shield has been harassing me since that day. They constantly call my phone every day 2-3 times a day and I continue to tell them I'm not interested in their product. I receive at least one phone call per day from them. I have asked them to stop calling me because I feel at this point they are harassing me intentionally. All I want is for them to stop the harassisng phone calls.

At the time I spoke with a representative about coverage, I was told that the waiting period after which I could make a claim was 20 days. Per the contract, it is 20 days plus 500 miles driven. Had I known that this was also required I would not have made the decision to purchase coverage. A Carshield supervisor, who did not review the call, told me that I was definitely told about this because it was their policy to follow their script but that, even if I was not told, it was my responsibility to verify that the information I was told was included in the contract (which I only received after I agreed to purchase the coverage). While I should have checked, consumers should not be required to verify that they have not been misled by salespeople at the time of purchase. Now because I took my vehicle in earlier than the waiting period I thought had elapsed, they are refusing to recover a repair because they consider it a preexisting issue.

Biggest rip off I've ever came across! They find every possible fine print reason to not cover a repair. Several customer service reps were hateful and unprofessional when I was trying my best to understand a claim that we had made. They were also rude and abrupt with my 72 year old father after he's been paying $79.99 per month for their (supposed) coverage. When the Ford service manager spoke with them, they were argumentative and unreasonable. He stated he had never in his almost 20 years in the business dealt with anything so ridiculous. It's so surprise they are not accredited by the Revdex.com. Do yourself a favor and don't feed your money to this incompetent company. Just another rinky dink side show insurance scam

My name is ***. I have an existing warranty contract with carshield. The transmission ant problems in my Ford F-150 beginning Friday August 14th. I took my truck to Jim Burke Auto motorcycle shop in Birmingham Alabama. They got my car that Monday on the 17th. They tried contacting carshield and it took them two days to get in contact with them. After they got in contact with them I had to wait a week for my mileage to get verified by one of their field agents. Then another day or two before my repair got approved. I was not able to get a rental car under the contract until my repair was approved. I went seven days until my repair wolves approve. After my repair was approved they sent me a $600 transmission. And a sent the snail-mail. I have to pay for this Rent-A-Car up front. The problem is now that the repair is finished a month later. I have submitted my invoice from Enterprise and they claim they cannot open the email my attachment. But I called earlier and one of the representatives did open the email and he read it to me and he told me the exact amount which was $532. Which was what I sent. For the past 3 days every day they send me an email saying they cannot open my attachment. I have no understanding about that because I know they are just pushing me off because they don't want to reimburse me. It took this company 30 days to repair my car. And I had to pay everything up front. And they are taking their precious time about reimbursing me. I have lost my job lost my car lost my livelihood and this company is still asking me to pay premiums ask has not completed their job was there obligated. I'm asking to get reimbursed for my car rental in a timely fashion. They are pushing me off until weeks later I can tell how businesses do things when they don't have the money up front they will push you to next week until they get more money that is what this company does I submitted my paperwork Monday of this week and everyday y'all send me a email before y'all close saying you can and everyday y'all send me a email before y'all close saying you cannot open the email.

Purchased a contract with Carshield on a monthly basis. After 3 months, filed an invoice for payment of towing charge (which I only got $25 for an $80 charge). Decided this warranty service was not for me, so called to have contract canceled on September 15. Since I had 20 days remaining on the contract for the month, thought I would receive reimbursement for the 20 days (which should amount to $60). Was told by *** (financial company that handles Carshield payments) that would forward request for cancellation/refund to Carshield. When I contacted Carshield today Sept. 21, was told I would not be receiving any refund for unused portion of contract. Was never informed that I should have kept contract open until end of the month before canceling or I would not get any money refunded to me for unused portion.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

Sincerely

This company did not honor the terms of a warranty I had with them. I spent over $1500 dollars over a twelve month period, and when I needed a repair, Carshield would not reimburse me for the installation of a part associated with a manual switch. The repair of the manual switch was covered under my warranty. To date, I have not received responses to my written complaints, yet I continue to receive correspondence from the company informing me my CarShield warranty "has expired".

It started with the sales rep specifically telling me before purchasing coverage that all parts necessary with the engine and/ or the transmission would be covered in the case anything goes wrong with either one of them. The sales rep, ***, was the person who informed me that anything would be covered under the plan I would be purchasing. Based on what *** has told me, I went ahead and purchased the Gold level coverage. Approximately two months later and after making two monthly payments (without using their service), I suddenly had an engine light on, and felt assured that I had a service/repair warranty that would take care of the costs. After making multiple attempts of reaching out to Carshield, and having talked to several supervisors from American Auto shield and from Car shield, the claim was "denied" for the reason that the repair should be covered under manufacturer warranty and the parts that were quoted (the clutches and the seals) are not internally lubricated parts of the transmission. I found their reasoning misleading especially because I was told everything related to power train (including transmission and engine repairs) would be covered under my level of coverage.

When I spoke with their powertrain specialist, ***, I was told the parts (the clutches and the seals) were not internally lubricated and they are not internal part of the transmission, but the claim is being denied also because there was a recall from Ford regarding these transmission so they would not be able to approve my claim. I asked him to show me where I can find that in my contract to which he replied, it will not be under the contract. I asked him to send me a proof stating the clutches are not internally lubricated part of the transmission to which he also never provided. The conversation between *** and I has been recorded and I do have it available upon request.

I reached out to American Auto Shield supervisor, and requested a proof or some kind of document stating that the clutch is not an internal part of the transmission, to which he attempted to look it up but had no success finding any document. I explained that I cannot just go with *** word without any kind of evidence supporting his reasonings for denying the claim.
When I called customer service rep, ***, she did confirm that the clutches and the clutch forks are indeed covered under my plan and that she can visually see that those parts are checked (covered). I have the recording of this conversation as well where she stated the parts should be covered under my plan. She ended the call saying this was a misunderstanding and that they will make sure to take care of me and she apologized for the inconvenience this has caused.

I was very upset because I would be getting misinformation from each department and no one addressed my issues appropriately. I spoke to multiple managers and none were cooperative with me nor did I find any professionalism in the way they handled my claim. I requested a copy of the initial sales recording to further prove and have the supervisor listen to the sales call and what I was informed during our initial interaction to which I was also denied.

I bought the extended warranty solely based on the understanding that the transmission parts would be covered if anything were to go wrong with them. I find the information given to me by the sales person, ***, misleading. I also find the information given to me by the power train specialist, ***, weak and had no evidence even after asking him to provide proof. I find the three managers/ supervisors I have talked to rather unprofessional and not caring about their client base evident by the way they handled my claim and spoke with me on the phone. I find the information given to me by the customer service rep, ***, contradicting to the power train specialist, ***. Recordings of our phone interactions are available upon request.

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I will be on the lookout for the full refund within 7-10 business days.

Sincerely

My car had engine problems that could only be detected by tearing down the engine Since finding out the reason for my engine problem carshield deemed the damage not covered on the warrenty because of work done prior to my purchase of the car and now im stuck with a 1000.00 tear down bill. I was told by a rep that I didnt have to pay this fee but now I do. So basically u r given the option to either not get the car fixed or tear it down but we r not paying for it. Total rip off and a lot repairs not covered. They want u to pay a premium but not file a claim

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

As noted on the first three pages of your
contract, American Auto Shield is the administrator of your vehicle service
contract and has full authority over repair procedures, approvals, denials and
payments. We have contacted them to obtain information on the repair
claim you have referenced. The notes on your account state the inspector found consistencies of a previous improper engine repair breaking off the 3rd bearing cap bolt in the cylinder head allowing movement and failure of the intake camshaft. As noted in Section D, Exclusions, Paragraph 4, of your contract, repairs necessitated by an improper prior repair are not eligible for coverage under you vehicle service contract terms.

Given that no further repairs to the engine would be covered, CarShield will refund your payments in full. You will receive one payment to the VISA *** and the remainder will be sent via check within 7-10 business days. This will cancel your CarShield contract.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:I am still left with a bill because in order for the problem to be found the engine had to be broken down now im being told that that is not covered.

Sincerely

I set up a payment plan with carshield and within 24 hours canceled it. I was told by their representative that my bank account would not be debited and the agreement was cancelled. Two days later my account was debited anyway. When I called I was told that to get a refund I would have to wait 3 to 5 days. This was totally unacceptable since it was an unauthorized transaction. When I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told that one was not available and that they would call me back. They did call back but I was told the same bs as the first rep told me. It was just another parroted script of a typical corporation. This is unacceptable. This company used my money along with millions of others to make money in interest even if for 5 days. They seems to think that I am an it anx not realize this. This is a warning to others not to trust this company and I will be seeking further legal advice on this matter as what transpired was illegal.
