I got my contract on April 13, 2020. They asked for an odometer reading. When I got the vehicle from my mother and I sent it in on May 28, 2020 at 12:25pm. That same day, I called them to make sure they received it and to update the mileage. They assured me they would update and take notations. My car has been in the shop since August 31st. On September 1, Carshield claims there is a mileage discrepancy and they are putting my claim on hold. They are saying that the original date of the contract, my mileage was 154, 565. On the email, I sent on May 28, 2020, the mileage was 151,807. They claimed when I sent it, it was not enough information. I provided a time stamp of when I sent that in. They are still not trying to accept as the correct mileage. They asked if I have any service history to coincide with the date of contract purchase. I faxed over my most recent service and it was in February. My mileage was 149,000. Carshield claiming they have not received the fax but Walmart has confirmation the fax was received. They are giving me the runaround and not paying for my claim. They have me on extremely long hold time. I was on for several hours and they are constantly transferring me to different departments. When I speak to someone they act as if they do not know what is going on. I talked to someone in the claim department she was complaining how long we were on the line. She threatened to hang up on me if I did not hurry up. I talked to t Dan that said he was a supervisor with American Auto Sheild. He said he saw the email I sent today and that it needed to go under review. I have already been under review with the same emails.
We appreciate you bringing to this our attention.

I have had my vehicle in the shop since June. Aside from the poor customer service and time it took to actually get an inspector to the shop, the auditor rejected my claim saying there was prior damage and I drove on it like that. The mechanic even told me theres no way to tell I drove with a bad water pump. The day the car overheated is the day it broke down and went to a shop. I want to cancel my account. I also want a full refund of my premium. I've been left without a vehicle and have to pay out of pocket. Im pregnant and been relying on other people for rides to my appointments because of the whole process just to be told no in the end. I wasted my time and my money. So I'd atleast like my money back.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

I thought I was going to love this company. I don't. My car was dropped of 2 weeks ago for a simple AC repair. The mechanics let me know the parts were needing to be authorized by Carshield and I haven't heard from them since. It should not take this long to get my car back and Carshield is the one holding up the process. I be they will draft money out of my account next month and for what? Lack luster service? I recommend my parents to Carshield and I regret it.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
We see in the notes on your account, your claim was authorized on Sept. 1, 2020. We do apologize for the delay in facilitating your claim.
Thank you for being a CarShield customer!
Not worth having even if it were free! The claims process is HORRIBLE. Expect to be on hold for 30 min to an hour when filing a claim. Simple repairs that could be completed same day will take a week or more. They come up with all kinds of excuses not to pay a claim even after they tell you that it is covered. I've gotten to the point where I buy the parts and do the repairs myself because I can't afford to leave my truck for a week to be fixed, only to find that they weasel out of paying the claim in the end anyway. And if you've had a rental during that time you'll get stuck paying for that too because they only cover a rental when they do at least $200 in covered repairs, which you often won't know until it's too late. Last time it cost me a week without my truck and over $1200 for a repair I could have done myself in an hour with $200 in parts. They obviously spend a lot of time training their reps to lie, because what customer service tells you is hardly ever the truth.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
We see in the notes on your account, you spoke a customer service representative on September 1st, 2020 who explained the reason your claim was not authorized. At that time, you were offered a lower monthly payment and decided to keep your vehicle service contract. We are happy to keep you as a CarShield customer!
Absolutely terrible! I noticed my car was slipping last Wednesday, so the next day I called to have it towed because it wouldn’t move. My car sat on the mechanics lot from Thursday till Monday, when the shop could finally get it in. During the time whatever is wrong with my transmission caused it to leak for nearly 5 days. The mechanic called CarShield to make a claim and told them the transmission needs to be replaced and because of it leaking before he could get it off his lot and into the shop it was low on fluid. They are saying they aren’t going to cover it because it’s lack of lubrication. How does that make sense when I did everything I was suppose to do and I was completely unaware of it leaking at the mechanics lot?! It’s not his fault he couldn’t get it in sooner and it leaked for a couple days and it’s not my fault either! So because it was completely full of fluid when he made the claim, I’m screwed. I still trying to get it worked out, please wish me luck!
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
We have contacted your service contract administrator to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Their notes indicate your claim has been reviewed a second time and will still not be authorized due to low transmission fluid.
As a goodwill gesture, CarShield will refund your payments in full. You will receive one payment back to the original form of payment and the remainder will be sent via check within 7-10 business days.

Customer Relations
The customer service was so atrocious. Took our car in for service, could not get an answer from customer service for a week. Dealership spent hours waiting on the phone for someone to answer so that they could move ahead with just diagnosing the problem. Over and over again we had to email and call to get service. During the third week a Car Shield representative had to go to the dealership to inspect the work and decide on paying for services. After the inspection, Car Shield again did not respond. The dealership called to find out their verdict and was told the inspector was going to be out of the office for several days. After weeks of this disastrous customer service Car Shield wanted the records for service, and less than 24 hours later denied the claim. Weeks and weeks of waiting on service to then be denied. Don't answer calls, don't return emails, and then deny claims. Total waste of money and a nightmare of customer service for the both the customer and the dealership. No one in this scenario will ever recommend Car Shield
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

I purchased Car shield approx 4 months ago, for 85.86 a total of $343.44. My stalled out on August 4th 2020, and I had to pay for a tow to take it to the card dealership for repairs. First I had to pay for the tow it was not covered my American auto shield or card shield for $75.00. Then while at the repair shop, the customer service person stated that he was on hold for 5 hours waiting on hold for American Auto shield to pick up the phone to give the authorization for repairs, but no one answered. I needed my car back so I could go to work, so I paid for the repairs myself, totaling $524.42. I emailed American Auto shield/ Car Shield the repair invoice on Aug 17th and no response. Today 09/01/20 I finally was able to talk to someone about the repairs to my car, she said that nothing was covered in my "plan" I had a Silver plan which stated everything in the engine was to be covered. This was a throttle boot that had a hole in it that is why my car would not stay running. I have all the documents needed to support my claim and complaints. Emails. Also when you try to contact Car shield they have a recording that says" thank you for calling car shield good bye" and it hangs up. Great company to use.. CarShield is here to address your concerns.
As noted on the first three pages of your contract, American Auto Shield is the administrator of your contract and has full authority over all claim procedures, approvals, denials and payments. We have contacted their claims department to obtain information on the claim you have referenced. On August 5th, 2020 you spoke a CarShield associate and were informed there was no guarantee the reimbursement for the repairs and rental would be approved if you paid for them out of pocket. Your paid invoice was reviewed and it was determined the cause of failure for your vehicle was not a part listed for coverage under your contract terms. Rental reimbursements are only approved upon the authorization of a repair claim therefore the request for rental reimbursement was also denied. See Section C, Additional Benefits, paragraph 2, page 4 of your contract, which we have attached for your convenience.
CarShield is willing to refund your payments in full as a good faith effort to resolve this matter. If this is acceptable to you, please respond to this complaint and we will process your request.
If you have any further questions or disputes regarding your claim, please contact American Auto Shield directly at 800-531-1925 or see Section M, Dispute Resolutions, of your contract.

We have contacted the claims department about your repair claim. On August 27th, 2020 you spoke with a claims specialist regarding your claim. During the call, they explained that although the component needed for repair on your vehicle was not a part listed for coverage under your service contract terms; Ford Motor Company had a recall on that component and that you could take your vehicle to a Ford dealership to have your vehicle fixed free. We hope you have taken advantage of that recall and had your vehicle repaired.

I couldn't leave zero stars for their service so they got 1 star. After having been told they covered everything on engine break downs I found out the hard way that they don't cover much at all. After having my vehicle work completed by the dealership at a price of $1390 carshield decided that sensors are not covered and I was left paying for full repairs after paying monthly for a warranty that is as worthless as the paper the contract is written on. Don't waste your money with their in service warranties.

If you ever ran into a company called Car Shield avoid them and block them quickly! I have never ran into this company since they don't seem to be advertised on anything. But since I've been in this new state they have been harassing me with letters every week since October 2019. I have blocked every single number they have called me from so that helped. I'M NOT INTERESTED IN ANY EXCUSES AND NONE OF THEM WILL BE ACCEPTABLE!
When I said stop calling me months ago I meant it. When I said do not mail me anymore letters I meant it. This
CONTINUOUS HARASSMENT by CAR SHIELD WILL NOW BE ACKNOWLEDGED WITH MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS BEING FILED AND LEGAL ADVICE DUE TO HARASSMENT AND DAMAGES.
SINCE IT'S BEEN HILARIOUS FOR YOU AS YOU PLAYED ON MY PHONE WE CAN NOW GIGGLE OUR WAY TO COURT UNLESS STOP HARASSING ME NOW!
THIS IS YOUR VERY LAST WARNING.

The service department at BMW has tried multiple times via fax and telephone to obtain authorization to perform work on my car but has never been able to reach anyone. My wife and I, signed up with Car shield on June 2019. I'm 66 years old and disabled due to (***) kidney disease. My wife who is 54 is also disabled and a Army vet with heart disease. I made all my payments on time. I've never had to use Car Shield until August 2020. We need to have reliable transportation to travel back and forth to doctor appointments, both far and near from our home........The car issue began when the car began to stall and with very little acceleration. So I decided take my car to have a diagnostic test ran. I drove my car to a nearby shop. They ran a test and it came back as a threw rod. So I drove the car back home which is less than 2 miles from the repair shop. My intentions was to have my car repaired back at the Nissan dealership......After getting back home I contacted Car Shield to inform them of what was going on with my car. I was told by Car shield that I can get my car towed to a repair shop. After contacting the towing service.
.I was told that the service would only cover 4 miles of towing without pay...So I had the car towed to the car repair shop. I talk with Car Shield service department and I told that I had car rental benefit also. So I rented a car from Enterprise....Talking with the claim department they wanted to see 12 months of service on my vehicle. I provided them with June 2019 -May 2020 oil changes (5). After reviewing the oil reports, they decided they wanted me to have the repair shop to take the engine apart at my cost of $1200. If they find something wrong (the claim adjuster), they weren't going to repair the car. and not reimburse me. AT this time I had reasons of concern that they wasn't going to take care of the situation. I would be out of $1200 plus another $4000 -$5000 to replace my engine. IF they wanted to see what caused the damage to the engine it sure be on them not me. I payed very mouth for protection on the car. now he's trying not to cover the cost of the repair. The reason for feeling this way was because the first claim adjuster(Robert) was very rude and nasty. He left notes that already had me at fault.....If I had this extra money on hand, I wouldn't need auto cover. I ASK WHERE IS THE JUSTICE???? I not being reimburse for car rental either for 4 days.
Thank for bringing this to our attention.
We have contacted the claims department to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. On August 25th, 2020 you spoke with a claims specialist and informed them you were not prepared to have the engine torn down as requested by the claims adjuster. Your claim can not move forward without the tear down to determine the cause of failure and your claim was marked inactive at the time. If you would like to approve the tear down work to move your claim forward, please contact *** at your earliest convenience.

Carshield states in my contract that I pay $100 deductible per my contract. My car is at *** and I asked them to diagnose the vehicle because the major problem was that it would cut off while driving. Today, they are saying my car is ready but only one part was covered, the ignition switch. Precision told me that I would be paying $336.00 out of pocket today. Their reason was because Precision charges $99 for each diagnostic which was not stated in the contract. To make matters worse, Carshield recommended this location and 3 others because I had to call them last week to find a mechanic because none of the dealerships here will take Carshield because they said "theybare a pain in the butt to deal with and don't want to pay labor costs." I just received the callback from American AUTO shield and she was very rude and told me there was nothing they could do about it and the mechanics don't work for them, they aren't contracted to them and I'm responsible. I am about to pick my car up and cancel this service and get my payment back.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
We have contacted the claims department to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. Per their notes, they spoke with you yesterday (August 31st, 2020) regarding the extra charges from your repair facility. You were advised that any extra charges should have been disclosed to you by your repair shop. CarShield contracts do not cover any additional diagnostic fees from the repair facility. All further disputes about these charges will have to be taken up with your repair facility.
All CarShield contracts come with a 30 day/money back guarantee so our customers have a chance to review the terms of the contract and cancel should they decide it's not the right contract or they don't like the terms of the contract. Your contract was purchased on July 20, 2020 therefore you are no longer eligible for a refund of your payments. My Truck was running ruff and smelled of gas when I pulled in to the dealership the service adviser noticed right off gas leaking on the ground so we checked it in for repair and was found to be the fuel pump leaking He tried to call car shield for 4 days and got no reply or answer even the phone On the 5th day they finally answered said they would need pictures to be sure there was no rust and said I had to call the dealer to OK pulling the pump so the next day they sent pictures it was clear to see that it had no rust and was leaking because the whole top of the tank showed were gas had even puddled on the complete top of the tank then the rep said they don,t see any leaks dealer explained it was cracked at the fitting part of the pump then rep changed up and stated that's electrical we wont cover it three different time they changed the reason just to get out of taking care of the problem after 8 days of having to rent a car at over $300 I had no choise but to return it and get my truck. We are Older folks and have just been scammed in to paying 6 months on the truck and the wife's car. There is no way that car shield can tell better than a certified Chevy Technician what the problem is by looking at pictures and denying the claim. Dealer did not agree with it at all.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
As noted on the first three pages of your vehicle service contract, American Auto Shield is the administrator and has full authority over repair claims, approvals, denials and payments. The claims department has informed us the failed part on your vehicle is the fuel sending unit and not the fuel pump itself. The fuel is leaking from the connections between the plastic lines and the sending unit outside of tank. Unfortunately, that part is not listed for coverage under your contract terms. Your repair facility confirmed this decision stating the fuel sending unit was the cause of failure as well.
If you are unhappy with your CarShield contract, we are willing to refund 5 payments as a gesture of goodwill and in good faith to resolve this matter. Please let us know how you would like to proceed and will process your refund immediately.

I have purchased a warranty from carshield. My car 6 month later when from I purchased the warranty, my car now has an issue. It states the warranty covers Coolant Systems. My car is now at the repair shop of my choice as stated.
The car has been there at my repair shop Cantrell Motorsports for about a month as we cannot get ahold of anyone to talk to about my claim at Carshield for weeks.
I have called several times as well sent in emails and still cannot get ahold of anyone here to talk to my car.

I filed a claim to carshield to get my transmission fix at ***. *** and I both tried to reach carshield. They would keep you 9n hold for hours before someone would get to you, or offer a call back. Neither I or *** received a call back. It took over a month for them to get in contact with me. Thats when they said they weren't going to approve my claim. My car was gone for over a month. I missed doctor appointments. Im 74 with congestive heart failure and I survive on my social security every month. I had to pay $2250 to get my car back from ***. Ive also been paying carshield 109 monthly.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
American Auto Shield as the administrator of your contract, has full authority over repair procedures, approvals, denials and claims. We have contacted them to obtain information on the repair claim you have referenced. On August 25th, 2020 the claims department spoke with your repair facility and inquired if the solenoid was the cause of failure as it's not a part listed for coverage under you contract terms. At that time your repair facility informed the claims specialist that you ordered a new transmission and they were going to install the new transmission that day. The claim was never approved for a new transmission and was therefore denied.
CarShield is willing to refund your payments in a gesture of goodwill and in good faith to resolve this matter. Please respond to this complaint if that is acceptable to you.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact American Auto Shield directly *** or see Section M, Dispute Resolutions, of your contract which we have attached for your convenience.
We look forward to working with you towards a resolution in this matter.

March 3rd, I took my 2006 Lincoln Mark LT to Precision Repair. They completed a diagnostics on the vehicle and found the fuel pump was an issue pertaining to the mechanical issue I was having. Precision contacted CarShield and informed them of the fuel pump issue. CarShield sent their own adjuster and he told Precision that they would not cover cost because it was not a "break down." Precision was upset and frustrated with CarShield because they felt they had enough proof that the fuel pump was the issue. Precision informed me about the conversation between them and CarShield. On March 10th, I went down to Precision to pick up my vehicle. As I was driving it, it would idle as if it was out of time or the fuel pump was still an issue. I decided to take the vehicle to *** Ford/Lincoln. I left my truck with them and they performed a diagnostics and found that the motor was the root of the issue. They informed CarShield of the problem. Again, CarShield sent an adjustor and *** Ford informed them that the motor needed rebuilt. CarShield proceeded to tell me that the cost of the repair would not be covered by CarShield because I drove the vehicle with the check engine light on. They stated it was neglectance on my part for driving the truck instead of having it towed. The check engine light was not flashing, it was just displayed on the dash, I noticed no difference in the performance of the truck. I then called CarShield and they proceeded to belittle me for not contacting a tow truck. In my warranty contract, it does not state a tow truck shall be contacted if a check engine light is present. *** also informed me they never heard of a company rejecting a warranty for not contacting a tow truck. I am upset and disappointed on how the staff treated me as a customer. The motor should be covered under my contract. I had to purchase a motor with personal funds, along with labor. These costs, according to my policy, should have been covered.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
As noted on the first three pages of your vehicle service contract, American Auto Shield is the administrator and has full authority over repair claims, approvals, denials and payments. In review of the notes on your account, your claim was reviewed twice to make sure it was adjudicated correctly. Your claim was only authorized for the fuel system failure due to continued operation of the vehicle after the engine issues occurred.
In an effort to resolve this matter CarShield is willing to refund your payments in full. If this is acceptable to you, please respond to this complaint and we will start the refund process.
If you wish to proceed with the arbitration, you can do so by seeing Section M, Dispute Resolutions, of your contract which we have attached for your convenience.
We look forward to hearing from you and working towards a resolution on this matter.

Was forced to sign a new contract and could not transfer a contract that was used by my deceased father that passed away due to Covid. They would keep calling at least twice per week asking why the payments were stopped (the cards under his name were cancelled) So I decided to use their service.
Guidelines given while I agreed to the contract were not accurate and would later be used against me. Had to wait more than 3 weeks for a claim to be answered and it was only due to me forcing a 3-way call with the repair shop and CarShield. Claim was denied because I did not go over the 500 miles, on top of that they accused me of calling before the 20 day period when I was inquiring on how to do a claim, the steps to do because I had never done anything similar. They used this against me and basically counted it as if I had filed a claim when I was not in touch with the claim department and it was only customer service. The claims department is on a different number that the customer service number.
They find any minute way to decline your needs. Basically they only want their customers for the money and not to attend to their needs.
CarShield is here to address your concerns.
We have spoken with the claims department and they are requesting a copy of your father's death certificate as well as the title transfer of your father's vehicle in to your name. Upon receipt we will forward them to the proper person for reconsideration of your claim.
We look forward to working with you towards a resolution on this matter.

Revdex.com:
I am only able to provide the death certificate. The courts have been closed, so my mother has not been able to get the letter of power to be able to transfer titles upon my father's death. I have included my ID from the NYPD, if it is of any help. Thank you for your help.
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Sincerely
Business did not let me take over my stepfather's contract even though I said I would provide the death certificate. Business provided wrongful information when the contract was signed. Have to call business numerous times over the span of 2-3 weeks to be able to get a claim taken care of which later got denied due to the wrongful information provided.

I just want to be able to take over the old policy that doesn't have any restraints with the repair I want to do on the axle.

I have provided the document to the e-mail suggested by CarShield which was [email protected]. This e-mail did not correspond to the right department for my request, I called CarShield and they said they didn't receive anything and they provided me with a different email which was [email protected] (Costumer Service). They could not meet my requirements of uniting or allowing me to take over the previous policy on the car that was held by now deceased stepfather. The death certificate has been sent to the right Departments at American Auto Shield and Carshield which is the one I have attached to this letter.Sorry for the misunderstanding.
