I purchased an extended Car Warranty Service from CarShield LLC (COMPANY), in 2019 for a Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit,(2014) year. Premiums paid on time. April 2019, my car needed servicing for a leak detected, the vehicle was taken to the dealership, *** located in Torrance, California. It was determined by the *** dealership Service Department that a new transmission was needed on vehicle. I noticed CarShield of the situation with my vehicle and was told that CarShield required that vehicle need to be inspected by a independent contractor of CarShield at the location of the car being serviced, which was *** in Torrance, California. The inspector would not be able to inspect the car for 3 days after he was notified, on the 3rd day, I was contacted by *** that the inspector from CarShield had not arrived to inspect the vehicle. After contacting CarShield I was informed that the assign inspector was busy and need to reschedule the appointment with ***. He never made another appointment. I had to personally continue to make 15 phone calls to CarShield with Service Department on 2-way to make another appointment with the the inspector from CarShield. After the inspector inspected the vehicle after 1 week at the dealership, I was told by CarShield that the service that was required was not covered in my extended warranty policy with CarShield, since the inspector disagreed with the Service Department at ***, on what needed to be repaired and replaced. The inspector diagnosis that my Jeep required a new Air condition and condensor replacement, when the Service professional at the dealership that sales and services Jeeps said it needed a transmission replacement, WHICH IS COVERED UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY CONTRACT FROM CARSHILED. After at least 30 phone calls and conversations with CarShield agents, and supervisors, they insisted that a non-experience Jeep machanic and unqualified inspector was correct in his finds and that *** Dealership and Service Department was LYING about what service and repairs that the vehicle required. I consented to have my Jeep repaired at the *** Service Department, where it has been serviced, since I purchased it and the repair cost me 1,200.00 and it was documented that the car required a replacement of the transmission. Thats the service that estimated and showed the the inspector and that is the repair and service that was done to my vehicle. Parts and description was provided to me.

Thank you for reaching out to us. We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. We see that your service contract was cancelled out over a year ago. A repair claim was submitted to your service contract repair claim administrator, American Auto Shield, who had an independent inspector view your vehicle to find cause of failure. The inspection found signs of a long term leak that pre-existed the effective date of your service contract and the claim was denied based on that inspection.Although your contract was cancelled over a year ago, we will agree to refund the 2 payments you made as a gesture of goodwill.RespectfullyCustomer Relations

So others aren’t tricked like I was:
Some time ago, I signed a contract with Carshield and I was calm knowing my car would be covered. The peace only lasted until my car broke. When I went to tell them my car broke down I was put on hold for over an hour just for them to tell me which mechanics in the area they would recommend. This was in July, we are in September and my car has not even been started. The only thing that has happened is I have lost money and countless hours on hold only to hear lie after lie. They started off by blaming the mechanic, later the workers started getting lost in the lies and contradicting each other. At one point I was told it was two separate companies then I was told that worker lied and it’s actually one company, case in point I don’t know the truth. They asked for a service history of the car (just to gain time and tire me out to the point I’d just cancel so they could keep my money and not do anything) so I sent them the service history. One person told Me I never sent it, another person told me they could see it, again they all contradict themselves because it’s a web of lies. After 2 whole months I’ve had enough, My car is being towed back home, since it was never fixed. It doesn’t take 2 months to get things started on a car, the company is full of lies. They collect money from innocent people and don’t actually do anything. I’ll make sure to let everyone and social media know that this company should not be trusted.

We see in the notes on your account, you spoke with a customer service representative on Sept. 10th, 2020, during which you informed the representative that you would NOT be authorizing the tear down of the engine. In order for your claim to move forward a cause of failure must be identified.

I purchased a policy and received email confirmation on July 3rd. An initial deduction was to be taken from my account of $79.99 for the first month and I was told I could cancel and receive a full refund by calling in by August 3rd. I decided to cancel called and spoke with someone on August 3rd who told me I would receive the refund that was deducted of $79.99 and there would be no further deductions. He checked to be sure the deductions were stopped and would not come out for another month and I received an email confirmation that this was the case. However, later in the month I looked for refund and did not have it but did have another deduction of $79.99 to my account. I contacted the company several times about this and had difficulty getting anyone that could help me or call back from a manager. I finally did speak with a couple people one who said she was a customer service manager was very rude and argumentative and said that they would only refund one payment. I let her know the information I stated above and that I canceled within the month's time that I was told and that I was also told and got an email that I would get the refund of the initial month so one month refund is not acceptable. I tried to get someone above her name and number and she stated there was no one that I could contact above her. I have since received one refund of $79.99 and am owed another. I did not authorize them to take any money from my account a second time .

September 1st I took my car in due to overheating and noises, Ford Dealership determined it was a failed transmission, they found metal in the transmission fluid. And the metal in the fluid was causing the overheating. Carshield / American Auto Shield was contacted to approve a transmission replacement. American auto shield claim rep twisted the car dealershield's story claiming the overheating caused the failure. I asked for a investigation review, and they sent it back to the SAME CLAIM REP. And he instantly denied it. What's the point of a review if you give it to the same person to judge? Anyways, I offered to have a threeway call, between me, the dealer and the claims rep, they wouldn't do it and would only do it with the customer service rep. So whats the point in that? I asked for a call back with the claims rep to talk to them again, and they never called back, considering the matter closed.

Anyways, Going from other Revdex.com Complaints this is common practice for them. So I just want my money back, the 200 dollars.

I purchased a extended warranty on my 2010 Dodge Caravan with mileage of 160,127 on 2/25/2020. In which I was asked a series of question as the mileage of the make, model, year, purchased used or new, use of the vehicle, plans on keeping vehicle, zip code, Vin #, any preexisting issues, and whether the vehicle had a salvage title. I answered all question truthfully. Around the 17th of April I notified a carshield representative that I notice a transmission issue and was informed to take it to a mechanic for a quote. They wasn't satisfied with the shops quote since they would only replace the transmission so was asked to take to another shop so a quote on replacement and rebuild could be done. On May 15, 2020, a carshield representative left a voice mail saying the claim was denied and policy canceled due to the fact my vehicle has a salvage title. I returned the call with the title of the vehicle in hand and informed them that no where on the title does it state that the vehicle was salvaged or rebuilt. They then said that a car fax report showed it was reported as a total loss. (WHICH NOTHING ABOUT WHATS ON A CAR FAX REPORT WAS ASKED, and I didn't know what was on it till I had to pay to have one pulled on the 17th of May. They then sent letters saying that I canceled my policy ( WHICH I DIDN"T) and send only one months premiums back. (didn't cash) And the vehicle has been registered yearly and current on its registration.

Complaint: ***

I am rejecting this response because:

I was issued the policy on question asked and have shown prove that title in hand is not salvage title. But they want to refer to other information to deny the claim. Did research and have been informed that the state and an insurance company has different thresholds of what is declared a total loss of a vehicle. And they then want to send an Email that I requested to cancel the contract and have a refund sent. Which this is false because I’ve only been requesting that the vehicle be repaired. I will continue forward with trying to go through meditation with them before having the matter taken back to court.

Sincerely

To Whom it may concern,

I, Jonathan Mansfield purchased a Car Shield Warranty for my 2013 Cadillac XTS in which I was informed would cover car repairs on 12/10/2018. The Monthly fee was $99.00 with a confirmation of receipt for the plan,This was sent via email on 12/10/2018. The total amount of the plan was $1188.00 a year, this has for the last two years created a expense in over $2000.00 to date. On August 15 through the 20 August, 2020 my Cadillac was sent to *** (***) for a electrical issue repair. The quoted price for the electrical repair came to $435.00 from *** from the proposed diagnosis of a software update. I called in the quoted electrical repair cost of $435.00 to my extended warranty company CAR Shield. The agent explained this electrical repair/cost was covered by the warranty, I was sent a confirmation email for the approved electrical repair/ cost. The initial agent I spoke with went through each line item and specifically explained that this electrical repair was covered under my Diamond Package Car Shield Warranty. I walked away from this phone call feeling as if I had no worries and my electrical repair was covered. Upon completion of the electrical repair, we needed a payment from the Car Shield Warranty company. The Car Shield Warranty Company denied responsibility for the electrical repair cost, additionally they became rude and aggressive with staff from ***. The Car Shield Warranty agents were flagrantly rude, they continued to place blame, dodge responsibility and disconnect the calls with myself and staffers. After several attempts to work through Car Shield to pay for the necessary repairs, I decided to discontinue use of my extended warranty through Car Shield. I would like a refund in full due to non use and breach of contract on services covered.

This company first declined my coverage saying that the head gaskets on the Jeep were not covered parts. I authorized the dealership to repair those head gaskets. When they opened the engine they realized the failure on the head gaskets were due to overheating caused internally in the engine. Now they are saying that it is not a covered repair because of that. Obviously this company is trying to find any way possible not to pay for a covered repair.

I sent my car to an authorized dealership to receive a repair. I've done this before with carshield, so the process from my end seems fairly seamless. This time however, the dealership called to tell me that they were sending out an inspector to look at the damages. Carshield called me and wanted my statement, which I provided. I asked if I did something wrong, and they mentioned no this is typical for large repairs. The inspector came out and confirmed the problem and approved the repair. Carshield called and let me know this. A couple days later, the dealership called and said that the repair didn't fix the problem and that they are calling the inspector back to assess and approve the actual problem. This time the dealer called back to inform me that the inspector is denying this claim. They are stating this may have been caused by my tires, which were the same tires on the car when the first claim was approved. Because of this, I had to pay out over two thousand in repairs. I called Car Shield several times to dispute this with the claims department, only to be placed on hold for over an hour two times. I asked for a called back the third time, and received no response. So per the carshield contract, I am filing this complaint on Revdex.com for arbitration for reimbursement.

I was contacted by a customer service representative around April 2020 they wanted me to sign up for their services the one thing that sold me is when he told me that if my power windows go out it will be covered anything that was power would be covered. Fastforward to September 3rd 2020 we had to bring our car in because the drivers side window wasn't working it took them almost a week to decide on the claim and it was denied it with little explanation we were told if our POWER windows went out they would be covered no problem and here I am having to foot the 700 bill because of their false/deceiving statements when they sold me the policy. My contract went into effective with CarShield on 6/15/2020. I brought my vehicle into the repair shop for a diagnostic test. The repair shop stated that I would need a new engine. Me and the repair shop tried several times to reach the claims dept. to file a claim and we were both told that there system was done and for us to try later. The repair shop was finally able to get in contact with the claims dept. after a week of trying to reach them. The repair shop mechanic *** told me that Car Shield was not going to cover my repairs due to I wasn't in that waiting period of my contract. Clearly, I was within the waiting period window and it was obvious that Car Shield was trying to get out fixing my vehicle. I was also told by a staff member at Car Shield that I could rent a car eventhough I was not able to generate a claim number due to their systems was done for almost 2 weeks. I was also told that as long as I keep my receipt that I would be reinburse the money for the car rental. I was also denied the reinbursement on the car rental. I was lied to and received rude and unprofessional treatment from their customer service staff. Along with a breech in contract by Car Shield. I also recorded all conversations with Car Shield staff members on my cell phone

As noted on the first three pages of your

claim you have referenced.

On June 29, 2020, your chosen repair facility, ***, called AAS to initiate a repair request. According to the repair facility's diagnosis, your vehicle presented miscellaneous crankshaft bearing failures. As part of the claims process, AAS asked the repair facility to verify the mileage of the vehicle, which they reported to be 219,429. When you purchased the vehicle service contract the vehicle’s mileage was reported to be 219,172. Accordingly, the vehicle had only been driven 257 miles since the inception of your vehicle service contract, and therefore the repair request was denied since this mechanical failure happened while the vehicle service contract was still in the waiting period.

The waiting period precludes the payment of repairs for pre-existing conditions. The fact that your vehicle was only driven 257 miles in 14 days provides confirmation that this was not an instant failure to the vehicle, but was present prior to the purchase of the vehicle service contract. Pre-existing conditions are also excluded from coverage under the vehicle service contract. See Section D.2.q. of the VSC which states as follows:

D. EXCLUSIONSThe following items are NOT covered by this CONTRACT:2. MECHANICAL BREAKDOWN OR FAILURE:q. PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS THAT EXISTED PRIOR TO THE LATER OFYOUR CONTRACT PURCHASE DATE OR CONTRACT EFFECTIVE DATE ASLISTED ON YOUR DECLARATIONS PAGE AND THE COMPLETION OF YOURWAITING PERIOD;

He then called back at a later time that day for the fax number and that was given to him during the second call. I am rejecting this response because: Car Shield claimed that my brother's vehicle coverage policy was cancelled October 30, 2019, however after that date and year they was still taking my money from my bank account without my knowledge of the cancellation of the account. They had the opportunity to notify my brother and me that his account was cancelled at that time and they chose not to instead because I am the payer for his account they chose to keep taking my money from my account we did not receive any notice from them in the mail nor via phone call and this is where the fraudulent activity comes in towards my bank account. So where was my money going during that time up until September 1 , 2019. We learned of this information after the fact on September 8, 2020. I want them to return all of my money to me.

They weren't going to be able to get to it that day so I rented a car. The mechanic called and said that they had talked to Carshield and Carshield refused to pay for the repairs. PLUS they never paid for the rental car. I had to pay for everything out of my own pocket.

I signed up with this company in apr 2019, I compared my current plan that was cluo for renewal to what they could offer in protection and the rates. The information given to me was from their platinum plan and they price matched the 3 yr 36k plan I could have extend, except theirs had no year or no mileage limits. I was told my policy information would arrive in the mail and I had 30 days to cancel, I never received this info. Trusting the sales rep told me the truth. I just went to use the plan for the first time today and found out nothing was cover because I was signed up for their gold plan which I never would have done with the previous company offering better protections for the same price! I called customer service and was told a request was submitted for a call back and when I asked to speak with a supervisor on that call, I was placed on hold, the rep came back on the line stated the request was submitted and hung up on. I called back and explained the issue was not about the denied services but the deception on plan enrollment and that's why I am wanting to speak with someone who has the resources to handle this complaint. The rep treatment as incompetent instead of listening to what I was saying continued on trying to troubleshoot issues that were not the primary reason for the call that I wanted addressed.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Our notes indicate you purchased on your vehicle service contract on April 17th, 2019. During the sales call, our sales representative emailed you a copy of your contract (***) to *** and explained you had 30 days to review the policy and determine whether the terms of the vehicle service contract fit your needs. If you were not satisfied with the contract terms or the coverage plan, you could cancel your contract with a full refund within the 30 day period. There was not request for cancellation made on your contract.

We have reviewed the difference in the platinum package and the gold package and even under the platinum package the steering hose would not be a part listed for coverage under your vehicle service contract terms.

CarShield is willing to refund 6 payments as a goodwill gesture and in good faith to resolve this matter. Please contact us at your earliest convenience and we will process the request immediately. We look forward to working towards a resolution with you on this matter.

I am rejecting this response because:
I was told the contract would be mailed to me. It never was received for me to view, as I pointed out and recreated for your rep, the link mailed to me to view did not work. I am not stating that the platinum package would have covered anything, I am stating that it is just now that I am finding out I was misled and lied to. I reject your offer, the policy was never used and was sold to me falsely. I can and will go to a competitor at a much lower rate for similar coverage as the platinum plan I signed up for. Your company should receive no financial gain over it's bait and switch sales tactics.

Well the first problem I had with Car Shield was that the customer service was very inconvenient. Because first of all I kept getting transferred over to different departments. And none of them could help me with anything until I had to keep calling back to finally get the right people to talk to about my situation. Which I must add that car shield didn’t tell me what I wanted to hear anyway. But anyway I had put in a claim on September 2, 2020 with my mechanic. And none of the repairs that was on the claim from the mechanic was not covered under my warranty from Car Shield. For example I have a problem with my air conditioner. The AC compressor and the clutch to the compressor needed to be replaced. But I was told by the claim officer that its not covered under the warranty. Which it clearly states on my contract that the air conditioner is covered on the warranty. Which the compressor and the clutch is the main thing and is considered one part. And is the main part that works the air-conditioner. So I don’t know or understand why that’s not covered. And also the left axle needed to be repaired. Which was also not covered under the Car shield warranty as well. Which is another major part that needs to be repaired. So to me I feel like it defeats the purpose of paying every month for a warranty from car shield that don’t seem to cover no major repairs. So at this point I told car shield that I might have to go on cancel my contract with them. And also report this to the Revdex.com which doing in this Complaint letter. Because it’s not right how car shield cover certain things under this so called warranty. But not certain things. And I have 2 Cadillac vehicles that the Cadillac dealership don’t even deal with Car Shield no more. Because they had a bad experience with them as well. And now I’m having a bad experience with Car Shield myself now to. And what’s crazy is that Car Shield themselves referred me to this other company called *** certified auto Service. And that was only because after I called car shield while I was at the Cadillac dealership. That I had to explain to Car Shield that the Cadillac dealer ship said that they don’t deal with Car Shield no more because of the bad experiences that they had with car shield. So that’s when car shield referred me to take my truck to this company at *** certified auto services. And now I see what the Cadillac dealership was talking about about car shield. So I don’t know who reads these complaints from Revdex.com. But I hope that it’s a person that can help me rectify this bad situation with my claim with car shield please. Because at this point and then with this pandemic because I’m not working I cannot afford to get this truck fixed out of my pocket. I can barely afford to pay Car Shield every month for this bad excuse of a warranty. So I hope and pray somebody from Revdex.com. Can change the narrative of this bad situation I’m experiencing with Car Shield right now with these repairs.

Sincerely concerned and unsatisfied Customer *** My car shield CONTRACT # is

Started this coverage with them since I had high mileage and just wanted my truck protected.. The day I needed them they denied my claim just started coverage 30days and they are saying that what happened to my transmission is not covered they made up 90 reasons not to cover my transmission when my package has Transmission coverage ... they made me pay for the rental car because they denied my claim so I’m lost $500 on a rental that’s included in my package as well . Nobody wanted to hear my concerns and the bind they put me in they just oh well we can pay it ... I want my money back for the rental and the monthly fee because when I needed them they denied me and I don’t feel like that’s fair to any customers reading the reviews now o see I’m not the only one being screwed by CarShield and the representative just transfer you off instead of really trying to assist you I’ve never been so heart broken and get robbed in my life and this company did that to me nobody should do business with them ever

I really appreciate the refund I’m just still at a total lost because I’m still stuck without a working vehicle, I really feel you all should list more details when purchasing these contracts because when you buy something saying transmission coverage then the transmission should be covered.. I still feel the transmission should have been fixed leaving me to pay for the cooler since that’s what messed up , the information you just reported is not what I was told yesterday by a car shields service agent but thanks for refunding me all mY money I thought as women I was protecting myself with car coverage but I was wrong

Back on July 11. 2020, I took my car to a repair shop to replace the radiator because the old one was bad with a leak. The mechanic replaced it and charged me $291.50. I submitted the invoice to Carshield as a claim for reimbursement. Two days later on July 13, a Carshield representative called and said I was approved for getting reimbursed for the radiator and that I should get a check in the mail in about 2 weeks. After nearly 3 weeks, I called and was told that my request was put on the back burner. However, it would be handled a.s.a.p. Nearly a month after that, nothing. I called again and was told the same thing. Still nothing. So I cancelled my account. They promised to reimburse me;therefore, they should still do so.

Auto Billing. I know they record their phone calls so this should be easy to address. When signing up, the sales person asked me to set up auto drafting from my CC. I SPECIFICALLY said absolutely not , and I would pay my bill myself by calling in or on-line. Second month comes around and they auto drafted, when I specifically DID NOT give them permission. So I called and spoke to a manager, she said they would stop and they would review the original sales call to address with the agent. Next two months came around and they auto drafted again both times. So I called again, this time the customer service agent said thats the only way they do business. So obviously the original sales agent was deceptive and just wanted the sale. If thats how they do business he should have told me then, and I wouldn't have continued. he didn't , and i'm pretty sure that is illegal too. I canceled my policy.

After realizing I was being scammed, I ask them to cancel the policy prior to the new start date. I was told that my policy was cancelled and would be charged.

They did not cancel the policy for September 2020 and charged my card $113.
