In December 2016, I contacted SSI company to get a contract to clean my HVAC system twice a yearI paid $the technician came to my house and looked at the system, and asked me if I had any issues and I replied with a NoI asked him about some white dust I get on the surfaces, and he said its my duct system that is dirty and needs cleaningso I arranged for them to clean up my ducts for $when the cleaning guys came, I watched what they were doing them to show me the dirt that will come off the ductsthe guy told me there is not much, barley a handfulhe said this is a clean ductso I was shocked because the technician recommended I clean itI took pictures which showed the situation then I filled out a feedback on their website and a manager (Todd L [redacted] ) emailed me saying he was sorry I had a bad experience with them, so I asked for a refund, but he never responded backI emailed him twice in February but no response

I have been SSI customer for many years and happy with their services. Recently I had put in a new gas water heater by SSI and know I have the right company to do the job. From initial call to completion of job, there are good at what they do - Andrea who handled my calls and Gene who did the work are exceptional! Although the cost may be bit higher in comparison to Home Depot or Lowes, you know you are getting the quality service backed by their commitment. Strongly recommend for others in need of HVAC & plumbing services.
Service Specialties Inc is a great company for air conditioning and heating service We recently had to replace our air conditioning unit and their staff were on time, professional, personable, answered all questions, and completed the job in a timely manner It was done really well Jose C [redacted] was the lead technician and Geronimo C [redacted] was the other technician I would say the same about both and they were really excellent Definitely appreciate the quality of the service Positive experience
Mr. B [redacted] was very polite, respectful and knowledgeable. we have a new house so this was the first time a technician looked at the hvac since it was installed. he found several sub-par conditions which he was able to correct and spotted a potentially serious problem in time for us to have the original installer correct it. he sent complete notes and pics of the problem areas. we feel we got a very comprehensive inspection at a very reasonable price.

When it became obvious that our HVAC system needed to be replaced with more efficient and reliable equipment available today, I researched the various HVAC companies that service the Ashburn area and contacted different companies that had positive ratings and reviews Representatives from all firms came out and reviewed our needs, took measurements and ultimately came up with quotations to do the complete job I had everyone bid on basically the same set of specs that included a single stage ton, SEER compressor unit and a 80K BTU, 96% efficient gas furnace with multi-speed blower I received quotes based upon HVAC equipment from different manufactures Each manufacture offers certain bells and whistles, but in the final analysis, they would all work well and should give years of serviceAll the quotes were within a 22% window, which made it even more difficult to make a decision I was, however, particularly impressed with the quote from Service Specialties Incthat was extraordinarily detailed as to the precise equipment and every step of the installation process Their quote, which was strangely enough almost exactly the average price of all quotes, also included several nice upgrades and complementary twice yearly system checks I decided to give the job to SSI and they were willing to do the job in stages to work in concert with another contractor working in the same physical spaceOn the day of the installation, two gentlemen showed up promptly at 7:and worked diligently all day and finally finished up around 6: They were very pleasant and answered my questions without any hint of annoyance They spread tarps to protect the flooring and carpets and cleaned the work area nicely when finished I inspected their work when they were finished and was quite impressed with the job they didAbout a week later we arranged through SSI to have the Loudoun County Inspectors come in to sign off on the work The Gas Inspector came first, spent about minutes and left with a sticker on the furnace and a farewell “looks good” The Mechanical Inspector came next and my wife accompanied her to the basement utility room where the unit is located The inspector, was very impressed with the installation and pointed out to my wife some of the safety and ease maintenance features, some of which are not required by code, that the installer had added to make servicing easier and protect the system from evaporator drain overflow The inspector assured my wife that in the residential HVAC world, this was about as good as it gets That was very rewarding in that the conclusion of all the so called experts is that the quality of the installation is the most important factor in overall performance and reliability of any system, even more so than the manufacture of the equipmentBasically we are very pleased with our experience with SSI and our new system, which should save us substantially on utility bills for years to come In particular we would like to thank Chris Charbonneau for his pleasant demeanor and the excellent quotation and Joe Sechler and his assistant Isaac Molina for the superb installation jobStewart C [redacted] A [redacted] , VA

I rate SSI and service specialist Clint Boyd outstanding--starsRepairs to my 8-year old Trane gas furnace were performed in a very professional mannerThe problem was quickly analyzed, repair parts ordered and successfully installedClint fully explained the parts that were defective and coverage under my Trane warranty
We placed a call to SSI and had a technician out to our rental property later that same day The technician was thorough and explained the situation He was able to fix the issue immediately
Appreciate the good service from Michael Our dissatisfaction with SSI were due to issues beyond his control The following are the reasons it took days for our 6-year old gas water heater to get repaired (1) Original misdiagnosis of cause of water heater not working by first plumber, Gene; he ordered a part and indicated that the repair would cost $(water heater was unfortunately 1-month past warranty date); Michael came in late the following day Friday, installed this part and water heater was still not working; but he (2) Did not have the equipment to diagnose if it was a different part that was not working so we had to wait until after the weekend for him to figure this out; (3) Poor follfrom customer service More often than not, I had to call to check on tech schedule; had to do this on all four days when I was told the plumber would arrive; (4) Poor follon parts delivery; do not understand why SSI did not have tracking info for the second ordered part, or why they did not know where it was, when it was supposed to be have been delivered; I did not get a call back even when Andrea in service found out it was going to be delivered two days later than expected; I found all this out after calling at the end of the day, and eventually requesting to speak to manager Todd Thankfully, SSI only charged us for the original repair cost and not for the two parts they ordered

Since our A/C was not working and we have a contract with Service Specialties, we called SSI and reported our problem Joe S was the technician on call this weekend and he promptly came out -- within a few minutes of his estimated time (a car accident by others on the road delayed him) We recognized Joe since he has serviced our heat and A/C before He did a quick diagnostic then did a more in-depth check Turned out that a snake had crawled into the top of the A/C and got wedged between the fan blades and the unit housing, stopping the blades and causing the unit to overheat and shut itself off We were extremely thankful for Joe's quick and effective work He has always been prompt, polite, and done a good job for us
