Earnin Reviews (%countItem)

I have read so many bad reviews about Earnin and in my honest opinion these people's situations must either be unique or they don't actually try to solve their problem through the customer support. Im not going to lie I've had random issues with the app itself but NEVER with the customer service/ services provided. The live chat representatives are polite and very helpful and the services provided are absolutely superb! Earnin has saved my tail so many times and I forever grateful! If you're in a bind and need some money to get by till payday don't get a loan, just use Earnin! This is not a paid/endorsed review. Just an extremely grateful customer. (:

Thank you for your honest feedback. We appreciate our community reaching out with their experiences, and we hope to do better in the future. But we are glad you have had such great experiences with Earnin and our community advocates. We pride ourselves in helping the community any way we can.

Withdrew from my account before my payday!
Earnin has caused my account to be overdrawn by over $500!!
Withdrew from my account 1 week before my payday!
I'm a sick of their apologies and I need this corrected ASAP. This has caused me a huge financial problem and I will see legal action.

Desired Outcome

Correct this matter asap!

In a chat on Thursday January 16, 2020, our community advocates were able to assist the community member with this issue. The paydate was incorrect upon set up, so the community advocate asked for a screenshot of the community member's paystub to set the correct paydate. With the new pay cycle set, all the community member needs to do is have the bank reverse the debits so we can reschedule them for the true paydate. Once this is done, we will also be able to reimburse any overdraft fees caused by this debit. We encouraged the community member to reach back out to us when the funds have been reversed so we can assist with the overdrafts.

Desired Outcome

Refund of NSF fees because they debited before my check was ready.

Earnin Response • Jan 15, 2020

We have reached out to this community member and let him know that we have given him a credit for the overdraft fees in question. The community member's payroll has now been updated so that their account will not be debited early in the future. The community member's upcoming debit has also been rescheduled for a day that works best for them. We apologize for this inconvenience and hope that this resolution will suffice.

Hello,

Our agents have looked into this case extensively and issued a credit of $308 to the community member on January 16, 2020.

We apologize for the inconvenience and are glad our community advocates were able to resolve the issue for the community member.

Earnin has continue on consistent basis mishandled my account.
Earnin has continue on consistent basis mishandled my account, meaning they say that you need to keep balance health which I have and have regular direct deposit into your account and the purposely reduce my lending amount and they continue to give me problems when I encounter with them. I know someone personally and they continue to give that person more opportunity then me and that person does not make the same level of income as I do or keep, they account in good standing. I think our government should take a close look at this base on there lending practice.

Desired Outcome

update to account to *** like it should be

Earnin Response • Jan 13, 2020

Earnin's Maxes are determined by a multitude of factors which include (but are not limited to): not spending more money than you make, the ability to successfully repay your debits, and maintaining a positive bank balance. Additionally, if a community member's direct deposits are inconsistent or absent, the community member's Max will be adjusted by our system accordingly. Because all of our community members have different financial situations and spending habits, no two Max models will look the same. We apologize for the frustration this community member has experienced, however, our Maxes increase from anywhere between $25 and $50. Because of this, we are unable to *** this community member a $500 Max, as they have never had a Max higher than $250 in their time with Earnin. So long as this community member follows the guidelines outlined above, they should see their Max increase over time.

Customer Response • May 27, 2020

Earnin have decease my amt, to 250 from 300. The company is scam customer the rep lied and said the my balance was 9.17 for 3 day which was not true
I figure out there configuration, if you don't tip there recommend amount, there system is program to decease your lending amount. Please launch investigation on this company they are taking advantage of people by forcing customer to contribute tips, so customer can have more lending power. I had to use the second section to finish my complaint. Please investigation this company

Earnin Response • May 28, 2020

After checking their account, this community member's Max decreased due to a low bank balance that occurred during their pay period.

We would like to emphasize that any tips to Earnin are voluntary and whether or not a community member decides to tip does not affect their Max, earnings, or ability to use the app effectively. Tip amount is not a factor in determining a community member's individual Max.

Earnin claims to have transferred funds to my account when they have not. They are now trying to charge me for a loan they never gave me.
I decided to borrow from Earnin after my bank account had become overdrawn. Earnin advertises an instant loan deposited directly to your bank account. Requesting the loan went through and they made sure to charge my Earnin account. However no money has been put into my bank account and when I contacted Earnin they simply blamed the bank and still expect me to pay them back. This was a dirty trick and I want my money back and Earnin needs to start advertising fairly.

Desired Outcome

I want a full refund of my money and any and all overdraft fees that accrue because Earnin does not operate as advertised.

Earnin Response • Jan 14, 2020

On our end, we see that all of this community member's cash outs were successfully transferred to his bank account. After emailing the community member, he informed us that his cash out was not instantly transferred to his bank account. Occasionally, banks will delay our transactions even when the community member has enabled Lightning Speed. If this does happen, it is usually on weekends or holidays when the bank is closed. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. It should also be noted that this community member was given a first warning for using foul and abusive language towards our community advocates.

She was very helpful and made me understand my issue and was able to successfully solve it for me. THANK YOU SHARINA!! Give her a raise! I would definitely 10/10 recommend this app to everyone.

Earnin Response • Jan 12, 2020

We are so glad you have been enjoying the app and our support team is available 24/7 should you ever need us. Thanks again for being a valuable part of our community!

"Awesome!!! Please REWARD MARGIE C. SHE MADE MY DAY. TOP NOTCH CUSTOMER SERVICE. QUICK, EFFICIENT, AND KIND. I'M VERY APPRECIATIVE."

Earnin Response • Jan 25, 2020

thank you for this great review! We will be sure to let Margie know.

I will never use this app again. They will change your cash out amount without any warning. The customer service is terrible. They make up or change policies daily. This company will rip you iff do not use it.

Earnin Response • Jan 13, 2020

We sincerely apologize that this community member did not receive an email notifying them of their Max decrease. After reviewing their account and previous chats, we see that this community member's Max was decreased due to a negative bank balance. Our Maxes are determined by our system and take into account things like the community member's ability to successfully repay their debits, not spending more money than they make, and maintaining a positive bank balance. A failure to meet one or more of these requirements will result in a decrease of the community member's Max.

Beware with this company. Do NOT use them. There is currently a class-action lawsuit against them in CA, NYS is investigating them and there are over 14 other states, including Texas, that is thinking about investigating and filing their own lawsuits against them for skirting around payday loan laws and not following banking regulations per the contract they make with their customers. The law firm suing them is looking for more witnesses to testify to their shady practices. Also, CNBC wrote an investigative article on them and found many inconsistencies and questionable behavior. The creator of this company is connected to the Rush Card, which was found to also practice questionable activities and shut down.

Earnin Response • Jan 10, 2020

Hi, Carol,
We have reviewed your recent chats with our community advocates and understand you are having issues with your pay period Max. Our community advocates have been able to address your concern, including information on failed restores. Please follow the advice provided on increasing and maintaining your pay period Max. Feel free to reach out to us with any further assistance needed. We are always here to help.

Customer Response • Jan 10, 2020

It doesn't change the fact, that several states are either investigating you, suing you currently or thinking about suing you. The current case that is in the CA courts right now, discusses how Earnin has been skirting the payday loan laws and literally reducing maxes based on several factors that are questionable and possibly violate payday loan laws in several states including knowingly operating in states that have stated it is illegal to have any payday loans there.

You have not denied any of the comments I have made. The public needs to be aware of the lawsuit currently existing and how several states are investigating you now. My own bank even recommended that I ensure that you do not have access to my account due to the number of problems they read from the numerous transcripts I kept of my interactions with customer service, the lawsuit with CA, the articles in the NYT and CNBC and the investigation with NYS and how at least 12 other states are looking into investigating you now and the high numbers of customer complaints here and how even the Revdex.com is still posting that customers need to be aware if they use Earnin.

To those that wish to use them, please Google the CA lawsuit and the NYS investigation on how they feel they are violating payday loan laws and using tipping as a type of predatory way to obtain money from customers and reduce maxes if the customer does not tip. Please read the lawsuit and it is available for public viewing.

Consumer be aware of what they are in trouble for.

Earnin has an agreement to take out money on my pay period they tried to do it before and over drafted my account
Earnin agreed to take money out of my account when I use their services and they know my pay dates and they took the money a day earlier which was not in the agreement which causes my account to overdraft over 300 when it was supposed to be taken out on 1/2/2020 versus 1/1/2020 and now I can't go get food or diapers for my children or even put gas in my car and this has been a big inconvenience.

Desired Outcome

I want my mo way put back into my account and since they could not hold up their part of the agreement that this payment be dismissed altogether

Earnin Response • Jan 08, 2020

We have reached out to this community member with the following message:

"Based on your chat with our community advocates and the Revdex.com complaint you have filed, it is my understanding that you are having issues with your debits that were scheduled to post on 01/01/2020.

Earnin shows your pay schedule as
Pays every other week on Thursday. Holidays always pay the day before.
With the holiday the day before your pay date, Earnin sent your restores the day before the holiday so your bank had enough time to post them on January 2 (Thursday). On our end, the debits show as posting on Thursday, January 3, 2020.

After reviewing your screenshots, it looks as though your Earnin debits were still in a pending status due to the dissimilarity in format from your previous transactions to the Earnin debits and the inability to click on them for further description.

To confirm your debits posted early, we will need current screenshots of your checking account from Dec. 31, 2019 to January 3, 2020 as well as any overdraft fees caused by Earnin's debits. Once we are able to review these screenshots, we will be better able to assist your inquiry.

Please reach out to us if you have further questions."

We are awaiting a response in order to assist our community member further.

The earning app is taking my money back.I can't even get ahold of support.
I borrowed from my check using the earning app and now they are taking it all back causing me to go negative.I can never get ahold of an actual person and the answers never help either.I want my money back in my accent over $100 I'm not negative.I also want to remove my backing info and will never use the app again!!! I'm *** off.

Desired Outcome

I am wanting my money back in my accent and not to be in the negative anymore.I got it from my check from my job.

Earnin Response • Jan 04, 2020

We don't see any communication with our community advocates, but are here to help.

After looking into ***'s account, we see that the payroll is set up as "Pays every other week on Thursdays. Holidays always pay the day before." In conjunction with this set up, we see that the Cash Outs made on Dec. 24, 2019 were fully restored on Thursday Jan. 2, 2020, aligning with the community member's pay schedule.

As an initial step in our investigation, we need the community member to confirm the pay schedule before we move forward. One of our community advocates will send *** an email shortly.
