Five weeks to deliver my stuff, and it ended up costing more than double the original estimateThis was one of the worst experiences I've ever been through
Let me start off by saying that I didn't reach out to Excalibur; they contacted me (I must have been put on some sort of call list) after I'd already booked a PODI said "no thanks, I'm already made arrangements," and the agent, Taylor, replied, "Well just humor me, and maybe I can get you a better deal." Knowing my move was going to be long and stressful (over 3,miles), I would have been happy to save a few bucks
*** asked me for a detailed inventoryIt was mostly boxes, and not very much furnitureI KEPT EMPHASIZING how many boxes we had (it was dozens and dozens of very full, very heavy boxes), but he kept assuring me "No no no, boxes aren't a big deal, it's the furniture you have to worry about." So their estimate was around $2,200, which was more than a thousand dollars less than the POD I'd bookedSo I canceled my POD and booked with ExcaliburI was relieved to be saving a few hundred bucks
But then the movers arrived, and it all went southFirst of all, they had me sign all the paperwork first, before they moved anythingStandard procedure, I figuredSecond, they explained they were with "American Family Movers," a totally separate company who were contracted out by ExcaliburI thought that was strange, but shrugged it offBut third and worst of all, they couldn't tell me how much it would cost until they'd already loaded the truck, hours laterThe final total was $4,900!! More than double what the Excalibur agent had estimated! I was flabbergasted, but it was too late to turn back because we were hitting the road the next dayNot to mention, THEY'D ALREADY LOADED THE TRUCKThey had us right where they wanted us
*** the "main" mover guy, explained that the reason it cost so much more than the estimate was because of how many boxes we hadI told him *** the Excalibur agent had assured me that boxes weren't a problemMoe replied, "Oh, well they don't know what they're talking about." So clearly there is very poor communication between Excalibur and the movers they contract outOr more likely, the agents on the phone are intentionally UNDER-estimating the cost, knowing that by the time the movers present the final total, it's pretty much too late for the customer to back out
I also suspect *** was over-estimating the weight of the itemsHe lifted a large box of records and complained about the weight, saying that it must have been poundsI didn't argue at the time, but I knew he was exaggeratingOut of curiosity, I weighed the same box with my bathroom scale after the move was over, and it only weighed poundsSo it makes me wonder what ELSE he exaggerated in order to overcharge us
Oh, but it gets better! When I booked the movers, *** quoted us 10-days after pickup for deliveryWe knew that we would be arriving at our destination in days, so once we arrived, we'd only be without our belongings for 2-daysWell, guess what? We ended up waiting TWENTY-EIGHT daysFour weeksAn entire monthWe called Excalibur countless times to get an ETA, and they kept giving conflicting answers, like "5-business days" or "8-days" or "hopefully next week." Eventually they stopped picking up, because they recognized our phone numbers on their caller IDFinally they gave us *** personal number, and we started badgering him insteadNeither Excalibur nor *** took any ownership of the situationThey used phrases like "I'm sorry you've had this experience" or "I'm sorry you feel this way," etc
When the movers finally came, they offered no apology at allWe didn't argue; the damage was already done, and we were just relieved to finally have our things*** wasn't there this time; it was his partner from when they loaded the truck, along with a second guy whom they hired via Craigslist (seriously, they couldn't even spare two of their own guys?)When I mentioned how long we'd been waiting, he was candid and explained that nobody at American Family Movers really wanted to do our delivery because it was such a long distanceOh, well I'm sorry to inconvenience you, but you're A MOVING COMPANY! That's what you DO!
One of our side tables was ruined, probably from someone putting too heavy of a box on top of itAn expensive bookshelf had a huge chunk taken out of it because they decided to disassemble it but didn't know how toI guess it could have been worseFrankly, I'm amazed that everything made it here at allBut it could have been SO MUCH better
I would not use this company again in a million years, and anytime someone I know plans to move, I will be vehemently recommending them NOT to use Excalibur

Excalibur brokered my move (without my knowledge) to a company that operates without complying with DOT laws and without insurance
I hired Excalibur on 12/15/ They didn't make final delivery of my items until 2/20/after missing delivery dates Upon final delivery, I immediately notified them of my damaged and missing items They stated the company they hired for the move would be responsible However that company is operating without insurance and refuses to call me back or respond I have filed complaints with the DOT and Deptof Justice I just want my stuff back or my claim to be settled so I can purchase my missing things valued at over $10K work of items

Basically, the movers who came to move me from Woodstock, VA to Philippi, WVa were not the professionals I expected to have do the moving job for meThey did not speak English very well, the comunication was badThey arrived at my apt in Woodstock, Va at 4pm They were supposed to come between 8am and noon After the things were loaded up in the truck, they left before me to Philippi Asfar as the charges, I feel I have been overcharged, the amount of $1, They charged extra for the long-carry by using the flights of stairsThey must have thought they needed to charge extra for the stairs, which I feelis unfair to me So, when I got to Philippi; I did not see the truck when I arrived at my new Residence at *** in Philippi, WVa One of the residents there who was waiting for me said she did not see the truck either Well, it was another week until I saw my stuff being delivered That day the things were delivered to ***, I noticed my f

I am confident they are definitely who I'm going for when I make my move!

These people are scammersThey are a moving brokerThey market themselves as if they are doing the move, until all go arrayThen they are gone
I contracted with Excalibur Moving Company to move my belongings from GA to NC in FebruaryAll was great while they were taking my moneyWhen the day of the move finally cameI received a call from someone telling me they would arrive at my home in an hourFour hours later, a different person then I had spoken too earlier is at my doorThey gave me paperwork and left in their truck, came back and stated they had weighed the truck and were ready to pack up my belongingsAfter packing up my belonging, they left and two days later I receive a call to say my belongings were "Over-Weight" I asked for a re-weigh and I was told "No", the owner of the sub-contracted movers of ExcaliburOnce my belongings were finally delivery, many items were missing, or damagedI found that my belonging were loaded and unloaded onto three different truck

We were moving quality furniture and boxes from an apartment in Los Angeles to the Seattle area We initially spoke with *** at Excalibur Moving GroupWe were provided an estimate that allowed for cubic feet of items *** listed out the items in the estimate, which comported with exactly what we had (we laid the items out on her living room floor, measured it, and took a photo) We actually had less boxes than were quoted, but wanted to provide a buffer The estimate indicated that we would receive 'professional door to door service', wrapping of all furniture with quilted moving blankets, no fuel surcharges, no charge for packing tape and moving pads, etcTheir subcontractor Cheetah Moving was extremely unprofessional in their service When they showed up to pick up the items, they upsold us for extra boxes (to basically conglomerate what we already had), asserted that we had another 33% more items (supposedly evidenced by an unreadable inventory), and would not fully

My parents are involved with real-estate, mostly in the islands of the BahamasThey keep a home base in the U.Sin Florida, around the West Palm Beach AreaI had not spoken to them for some time because I live in OhioOne day I get a phone call from my mother saying my father was in the hospital with a ruptured brain aneurysm, he had gone a week without seeking medical treatment thinking it was just a bad migraine headacheRuptured brain aneurysms are one of those things were you either drop dead immediately because the important blood vessels to the brain can no longer can deliver oxygen rich blood to the brain or they just slowly bleedIn my fathers case it was the laterHe did not start experiencing serious symptoms until the blood pressure in his brain caused by the subdural bleed began to build up so much pressure in his skull that he was loosing his cognitive functionsSo my wife and I fly out immediately to the west palm beach airport and rented a car to get to Stuart, Florida; The area where my parents beach front condo was locatedWe needed affordable and fast shipping immediately, to get their possessions back to Ohio so that my father could began rehabilitation there once he was released from the hospitalMy wife and I scoured the web for a fast and affordable means to transport their belongs into a storage unit in OhioWe found this service that was highly rated on many of the internet sites that provided user ratings for our specific needs called Excalibur Moving groupWe needed fast service and affordable service, because flying out there alone cost us around $We had a chat with one of their representatives over how much the service would costIf my memory serves me correctly his name was SteveHe was not only polite and courteous, he was also very sympathetic to our situationHe did his best to get us the best quote he could and to our amazement it was only around $dollarsI do not know if that was because the company was understanding to our situation or that is just the going rate for themAll we had to do was pack up my parents property into small containers and they came and got it before my father was even released from the ICUWe spent a few days out there until my father was eventually released from the hospital, than we flew back home to await the shipmentNo joke, the shipment was there the next day we had gotten back! I could not believe I could get a service like this for under $dollarsMost interstate moving companies charge a fortune and take their time getting you quotes and getting your belongings to youThe only thing we had to do was unpackWe did not opt for their unpacking service because we were on a tight budgetI was so pleased with their service I just felt obligated to leave them a good review with the Revdex.comI would recommend their services to those in tight situations or anyone for that matterThey were so kind and hassle freeThe standard commercial interstate moving services could not even come close to what they were able to provide for my family, in our dire situationDon't get fleeced by these other companies offering similar services for substandard serviceTheir system is real easy to use and they are very flexible and understandingI owe this company a debt of gratitude for what they were able to accomplish for my family on such a short noticeThank goodness for the internet or we never would of found these guys
