*** *** I feel very strongly that PNC should update their policy on refunds of escrow after the mortgage is paid in full. There is no valid reason to hold a customer's money for or business days once the obligation has been satisfied

I think a national bank, PNC Bank, has because of poor consumer practices cost me $1303.59.It all started in January of 2014, when I went
to my father's bank after his death in Nov As trustee of my parents' trusts, I needed to open checking accounts to be used in distributing assets of the trusts to beneficiaries.I choose PNC Bank because my parents banked with them a long time from the time when it was Pioneer bankPrior to his death my father had an existing checking account at PNC Bank.It was recommended that I open "Performance Select Account" interest earning checking accountsThe benefit of this type of account was that the interest paid would be slightly more than the regular checking accountI don't remember any information about a minimum balance required to avoid a monthly service charge.As trustee, I opened two accounts in the names of my parents' trustsBy June of 2015; I had distributed funds to all beneficiaries, including six charitiesI was advised to keep the accounts open; should any other funds were received for the trusts.In July of 2015, unknown to me the two accounts didn't have the required daily minimum and each account began to incur a monthly $service fee for the next 26+ months.I had access to online statements for the two accounts and because I did not expect any transactions; I didn't access online the statements monthly after June This month as I prepared to close the accounts; I discovered PNC Bank had charged the two accounts a total of $in feesOne account had a balance of zero.I would have expected PNC Bank to realize, that the recommended account type was no long appropriate and would have made an effort to contact me .On Monday September 18,2017,went to the bank to discuss the problemI was told the computer records for the accounts showed I was receiving monthly statements via USPSI never received any statements or other correspondence from the bank about the two accounts in the three and a half years since the accounts were openedThe system also supposedly indicated no mail had been returned to sender because of a delivery problem.My professional career was in computer systems development and support; in my opinion PNC's system and the use of the system is obviously is not for the benefit of their customersThe system should have flagged the accounts for some personal attention.*** * *** *** *** ***
