received on 7/5/12. The customer's original purchase was for a 7 - Day Free Trial + Search membership and Premium Public Records Report for $29.95. The trial expired on 7/12/12, at which time the customer was charged $23.40 for the membership. The membership renewed annually until canceled as stated in the terms of use and in the purchase confirmation sent to the email address on record.
The customer's financial institution recognized that the customer had a reoccurring subscription on their statement and rolled the subscription over to the new card to prevent service interruption.
We provided three different methods to cancel a membership including: calling us directly, emailing us at [redacted]@emailfinder.com, or by using the online cancellation request in their account. After reviewing this account we see the customer has already called our Member Services Center, and spoke with an agent who promptly refunded the charge on 8/16/15. The information provided in this correspondence has provided us enough information to identify the account and terminate the membership. We have also issued 2 refunds of $19.95 for the August and September charges.
Although the service was started 7/14/14, as outlined in our Terms of Use we're unable to refund charges more than 60 days old.

Services were never asked for this company. Much less monthly services.
Again, when we called for a refund, they were unable to communicate with us because they refused to continue the call without us giving our FULL credit card number. As per their representative, THE FULL NAME and LAST 4 OF THE CREDIT CARD, along with the numbers in statement were not sufficient. Since we never requested services from them and are not interested either, we will not provide such information. Thank you.

The membership would automatically renew on an annual basis until canceled. A reminder email is also sent 30 days prior to renewal. In an attempt to maintain excellent customer service and reconcile this matter, we processed a refund in the amount of $19.95 for the 05/17/15 charge. The membership was cancelled by the customer on 05/17/15.
Unfortunately, the owner's name and address turned out to be unavailable for the phone number that was searched. Although we are provided access to the largest available database of contact information there are times when no ownership information is available.
In this case we can only provide information about the carrier, line type, issuing location, complaints, and other similar details.
Cell phone numbers are protected by strict privacy laws at the state and federal level. These laws regulate how personal information for cell phone customers can be used. This is done for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is to prevent telemarketers from using the limited number of minutes available from mobile service plans. Due to these federal and state laws, no official or free mobile service directory exists at this time.

I ordered a 7 day free trial and got charged $19.95 for a background check that appeared free from the peoplesmart.com website. Free means free, not charging a credit card for not showing the customer that this service is indeed not free. Misleading website!! I did one background check on an individual after seeing an advertisement from peoplesmart.com showing unlimited searches. I would have not ever willingly pay for a search that I thought was free from miswording and misleading website. Totally ridiculous. I needed to use a credit card to do my unlimited searches and once peoplesmart.com has my information they charged my card for misleading charges. Peoplesmart.com website needs to be way, way more specific on what will be charged once your credit card information is obtained so as not to trick consumers like I was. Refund my $19.95 please and I'll not use your website so I won't have to warn others of this scam through social media and the Revdex.com. Free 7 day trial of unlimited searches means free to anyone in the USA! Not hidden charges and fees!!!!

I ordered a 7 day free trial membership at Peoplesmart.com. I cancelled my membership same day and got charged $40.00 for services not ordered.
I wanted to do a people search. I was directed to Peoplesmart.com webpage. I ordered a 7 day free trial membership. "order on 08/13/2014! Your order number is XXXXXXXXX". The website at Peoplesmart is misleading. It stated 7 day free trial membership with peoplesmart. My cancellation email from Peoplesmart stated "In accordance with your request, your membership at PeopleSmart has been canceled. No future charges will occur and membership will not auto-renew". I had to enter my credit card # (Visa) for trial membership to peoplesmart. The website stated unlimited searches for 7 days. I did 1 background check as the Peoplesmart website says unlimited search membership. If I were to know that by doing a background check that it would cost me $19.95 I would not have elected to do a background check. No warning or anything from Peoplesmart website stating that a background check will cost me an additional $19.95. When I received my Visa statement I was charged $19.95 for background check and $19.95 for Identity Smart. Apparently when I cancelled my "free trial membership on X-XX-XX it doesn't even cancel the Identitysmart portion that I never signed up for. I called Peoplesmart and they refunded my $19.95 Identitysmart portion but not the $19.95 Peoplesmart charge for a background check that the site (peoplesmart)does not say will charge your card anymore that the 7 day free trial membership. Peoplesmart.com is a very misleading website that tricked me into charges totaling $39.90. I signed up for a free 7 day trial and nothing else. Peoplesmart.com did not inform me that additional charges would incur for a background check that the company makes believe is free from their website. I would like my $19.95 refunded for a misleading website that charged me for a service that Peoplesmart.com makes it appear is free. Misleading website charging customers additional fees while making it appear all is free with 7 day trial. Why would anyone sign up for a free 7 day unlimited searches if they knew they couldn't do a background check or would get charged a hidden fee of $19.95. When Peoplesmart.com says cancel subscription it should cancel all charges and not leave charges for Identitysmart that no one even signs up for. Fraud!!

EmailFinder.com has no association with Intelius, which is a completely separate company that performs a service similar to ours. In addition, the customer does not have a monthly membership with our service.
The customer did purchase an annual search access membership with EmailFinder.com on 10/17/14 which is still active and will automatically renew on an annual basis until cancelled per our terms of use. Also purchased on that date was a Contact Report for $7.95 which was a onetime charge.
If there is any way we are able to assist the customer with the EmailFinder.com account they have with us, please have them contact us at XXX-XXX-XXXX. The customer should contact Intelius directly for any issues they have with the purchase made with their company.

We were offering the report at the discounted price with enrollment in a 7 day free trial of an unlimited search membership. We state on the website and in the email confirmation that the trial must be canceled within the 7 days or it will go into a monthly billing cycle. In addition, we print our phone number on the credit card statement every month. Had we been contacted sooner, we would have been able to prevent further billing. In an effort to reconcile this matter and satisfy the customer's request, we issued four refunds for $19.95 for all charges which had occurred in the 120 days prior to canceling. In our Terms of Use, we do state that all sales are final after 60 days, but we extended our policy in this case. I made an HONEST MISTAKE and NEVER USED THE SERVICE BEYOND THE FIRST TIME. The right moral thing to do is to REFUND THE MONEY.
By NOT DOING SO, this company is CLEARLY COMMUNICATING A MESSAGE to FUTURE CUSTOMERS:
"WE CARE MORE ABOUT THE MONEY WE MAKE THAN THE SATISFACTION OF OUR CUSTOMERS."
This conclusion is a simple one to draw because of the following:
#1. They REFUSE TO RETURN THE MONEY TO A CUSTOMER THAT NEVER USED THE SERVICE BEYOND THE ONE HE PAID FOR.
#2. They ARE WILLING TO RISK HAVING A PERMANENT COMPLAINT POSTED ON THE Revdex.com WEB SITE STATING A CUSTOMER IS CLEARLY DISSATISFIED WITH THEIR SERVICE.
#3. They ARE WILLING TO RISK THE LOSS OF FAR MORE REVENUE THAN WAS LOST WITH ONE CUSTOMER BECAUSE THEIR FOCUS IS ON MONEY, NOT CUSTOMER SATISFACTION.
Consumers are extremely savvy and they know that there are dozens of web sites that can help them obtain the personal background information they desire.
Many turn to the Revdex.com for guidance as to which web site to use. When they see my complaint, they will use another site. As a result, the company I used will lose far more revenue than I am asking for.
I am also offering the company the equivalent of $1,000 worth of advertising on my web site if they refund the money.
The choice is up to the company: do WHAT'S RIGHT or FAIL TO DO SO and receive a BAD REPUTATION and LOSS OF REVENUE as a result.

Thank you for contacting PeopleSmart. We have reviewed the customer's reply, and unfortunately, we are unable to refund any further. Our terms on our website for refunds state we can go back 60 days. Our maximum (which is not stated on the website), is 120 days. The phone agents the customer spoke with on 8/28/2015, refunded 4 charges of $19.95 (May-August charges).
Once again, this is a self-service website. After any purchase, there is an email confirmation sent to the customer stating what they are enrolled in, and our phone number is located on our customer's bank statement next to the charge each month.
The customer is welcome to call us with any further questions at XXX-XXX-XXXX.
