a) Standard Membership Plans
Instant Checkmate offers three standard Membership Plans. All Membership Plans are billed up front for the entire term selected.
Standard Membership Plan with a 6-Month Term: For a standard 6-month Membership Plan, the debit or credit card or other payment account you provide will be billed $59.16 immediately upon purchase and $59.16 every 6 months thereafter, unless and until you cancel.
Standard Membership Plan with a 3-Month Term: For a standard 3-month Membership Plan, the debit or credit card or other payment account you provide will be billed $44.58 immediately upon purchase and $44.58 every 3 months thereafter, unless and until you cancel.
Standard Membership Plan with a 1-Month Term: For a standard 1-month Membership Plan, the debit or credit card or other payment account you provide will be billed $22.86 immediately upon purchase and $22.86 every month thereafter, unless and until you cancel.
If your payment for a full term is declined due to insufficient funds, Instant Checkmate reserves the right to bill in monthly installments based on the monthly rates associated with the Membership Plan you selected.
b) $1.00 Trial Membership
If you select a trial Membership Plan (“Trial Membership Plan”), you will be able to try a Membership Plan and its accompanying services for five (5) days from the date of purchase for only $1.00. If you select a Trial Membership Plan, the debit or credit card or other payment account you provide will be billed $1.00 immediately upon enrollment, and you will have five (5) days from the time of enrollment to try out Instant Checkmate’s Services under the Membership Plan. If you do not cancel your Trial Membership Plan before the expiration of the 5-day trial period, on the 6th day after you enroll, you will automatically be enrolled in a monthly Membership Plan and the card you provided at the time of enrollment in the Trial Membership Plan will be charged $29.63 immediately and $29.63 approximately every thirty (30) days thereafter, unless and until you cancel.
c) Nonstandard Membership Plans
Instant Checkmate sometimes offers promotional membership offers or the opportunity to purchase a single report or several reports for an identified price with no further obligation. If you enroll in a nonstandard Membership Plan, Instant Checkmate expressly reserves the right to bill you at the identified price and based on the terms disclosed at the time of you enroll.
d) Negative Option
BY SIGNING UP FOR A MEMBERSHIP PLAN, YOU AUTHORIZE INSTANT CHECKMATE (AND ITS PARTNERS, AFFILIATES AND/OR AGENTS) TO CHARGE YOUR DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD OR OTHER PAYMENT ACCOUNT THE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH THE MEMBERSHIP PLAN’S TERM, AND YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT INSTANT CHECKMATE WILL NOT OBTAIN ADDITIONAL AUTHORIZATION FROM YOU FOR EACH RECURRING FEE CHARGED TO YOUR DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD OR OTHER PAYMENT ACCOUNT. We reserve the right to modify the prices charged for the Membership Plans, or to add or remove any Membership Plans, from the Site at any time without prior notice to you. Price quotes provided to you prior to any price modification shall be honored.
f) Cancellation Policy
You may cancel any Membership Plan at any time by going to http://www.instantcheckmate.com/cancel or by calling our customer support line at ###-###-#### to speak with one of our Customer Service Representatives. We're open 24/7 (Holiday hours may vary). Any cancellation request will ensure you are not billed further.
g) Refund Policy
Our number one goal at Instant Checkmate is customer satisfaction. If you are ever not satisfied with our Membership Plan and/or Services, feel free to call one of our customer support staff at ###-###-####, and we will work to resolve your issue. We're open 24 hours a day, seven days a week (Holiday hours may vary). Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis with the ultimate goal of complete customer satisfaction.
h) Taxes
All orders are subject to applicable taxes in the states where the member resides.
i) Discounts and Promotions
Any applicable discounts or promotional prices will be noted at the time of purchase on the checkout page for your order.
j) Billing Errors
If you believe that you have been erroneously billed, please notify our Customer Service Department toll-free at ###-###-#### immediately to notify us of such error.
k) Reversals and Chargebacks
Instant Checkmate considers charge backs and reversals as potential cases of fraudulent use of our Membership Plans and/or theft of Membership Plans and will be treated as such. Instant Checkmate reserves the right of filing a complaint with the appropriate local and federal authorities to investigate. Be advised that all activity and IP address information is being monitored and that this information may be used in a civil and/or criminal case(s) against a customer if there is fraudulent use and or theft of Membership Plans.
We apologize that [redacted] was not satisfied with our services. As a gesture of goodwill, [redacted] has been issued a full refund in the amount of $59.16. This refund has been credited back to the card that was used to enroll in our services, and no further charges will be incurred.

They totally suck, went through the whole process and paid for one month and when it came time to see my report all I got was an 404 error message so I log off and tried to log back on but kept getting a message telling me my name and password are incorrect, called the customer service joke and all the can do is cancel my service and then refuse to refund my money oh and give me some crap story the site only works with google chrome yea right then why is it working with safari.

---How can checkmate state that it's a matter of public record, when I have NO record.
---I was told last week that my information would be removed from the site; it wasn't.  The same erroneous  and harmful information remains.   However, while searching "instant checkmate" I found an option to opt out and have my information removed,  Let's see if this works.
It is plainly seen that checkmate uses deceptive practices and a lot of smoke & mirrors to cover their butt.  They provide incorrect information on the site as well as in response to this complaint  Checkmate are scam artists, taking money from people for information that basically useless; their own disclaimer states that they take no responsibility for information that is inaccurate.

I did a search and found limited information. When I called today to ask for a reimbursement of the charge that was assessed 4 days ago, they were unwilling to reimburse me for this month upon cancellation. They said that I still have access until the end of the next billing month, but that is not what I want. I only wanted the one report (it was not thorough), and I did not realize that it was still charging me. When I asked if this month's fee could be prorated and reimbursed, since I am 4 days into the next billing month, they refused to do so, as well. My record on my account shows that I only used the service for the one search and it just seems like good business to win customer trust by reimbursing for unused services when the customer goes to the trouble of calling and asking. I was surprised at their unwillingness to help me out. I feel trapped by checkmate. I will not use their services again, and I will encourage my friends to steer clear of this company.

The information provided by the Instant Checkmate website was utterly worthless, largely incomplete and inaccurate with regard to some public information that I already knew. To top it off, they billed me a recurring charge of $22.86 for seven months until I realized what the charge was on my credit card and cancelled. The customer service rep was trained to talk in circles and provide no resolution to my problem. A complete RIPOFF.

I did an initial query to see what search services were offered after seeing one of their on-line ads. When I got through a series of qualifiers and entering my email address to receive my report I was presented with the subscription fee they want before you receive any reported data. Meanwhile the qualifiers that you enter do identify you relative to what is available on the internet. I decided that the services were not as valuable to me as Instant Checkmate thought they should be. So I closed the session and hoped to never hear from them again. Now I have discovered that they widely distributed/sell your email address. I despise sites and companies that do this. It is a blatant disregard for people’s privacy and a testimony for unscrupulous greed.

This advertisement pop up on my computer, so I was curious to see what it was about. I enter my name, and once it was completed, it stated I had 7 criminal records. I knew at this point it was a SCAM, considering I have NEVER even been in a Police Officer's car let alone arrested. This company should be shame of themselves, they are getting what information they can from social media or searchpeople.com - I really hope more people will see that this company is a SCAM. I'm glad I wasn't the one who paid money for what I already know.

If you want the real information...like marriage records, divorce records, criminal record, tickets, mug shots, sex offences, address history, contact information.....etc, etc, etc....you then have to pay ANOTHER $19.99 PER REPORT. They just keep stringing you along and charging more and more. In the end "They don't guarantee accuracy or anything else. They state that they had refunded my money and then I initiated another account. That is a lie! I checked my charge card the morning of 1/29/14 and they had NOT refunded my money or canceled the charge. I have documented proof of that.
