Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:According to the Intelius response, they have two-tiered pricing, but I believe it is confusing and misleadingI also believe this is purposefulThis company charges customers repeatedly, when they are aware that the customer is not receiving a product any longerPersonally, I believed that I had cancelled right away, and because of my busy life as a working wife and mother of three, did not notice that this company was charging me repeatedly for almost three yearsBut they knew, and this is their tactic for making moneyThey also knew that I haven't used their service since the original search in Intelius preys on the fact that they will make money on busy, hard-working peopleThey should not be able to unknowingly charge customers for an unlimited amount of time without any customer account activityEven a doctor's office drops patients after they haven't been seen for months.?
The long and short of it, this company is running a scamThey feel okay about it because of they way they have worded it in their website, but it is a fleecing of hard-working, upstanding citizensHow do they sleep at night?Sincerely,[redacted]

two-tier pricing structure when purchasing reports on the Intelius websiteEach offer includes the standard one-time purchase price and a second discounted report price plus a one-week trial of the Intelius Premier Plus membershipIf the user elects to continue with their selected report type but does not wish to continue the Premier Plus membership they are instructed to cancel the Premier Plus membership within the first days and they will only be charged $for the Premier Plus trial membershipHowever, if the user does not cancel, the member is enrolled in the Premier Plus membership and their credit card will be charged a monthly fee of $(plus applicable taxes) going forward ? Intelius provides clear disclosures within the report purchase process of the Premier Plus membership offer.? Below, I have outlined the process and various places in which Intelius notified Ms*** of the membership offer and details? On December 4, 2017, Ms*** purchased a discounted People Search Report in the amount of $(and an areport for current phone and address information for an additional $1.95), which included a 7-day trial membership of the Premier Plus membershipMs*** was notified of this offer and trial membership when she selected her report type and again on the payment information pageAdditionally, she was required to manually select a checkbox on the payment information page before she could complete her report purchase that specifically notified her of the offer and the membership terms, including that her credit or debit card would be charged $(plus applicable taxes) if she did not cancel her 7-day trial membership, a phone number to cancel her membership, that her membership benefits would continue through the last month for which she paid and that there are no refunds or partial month creditsMs*** was presented with language in the same checkbox that by clicking the button to purchase, she agreed to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy (with hyperlinks to each)A copy of the standard purchase process with the areas in which Ms*** was notified of this trial offer is attached for your review ? I want my information removed from their data base and from their affiliate site data bases (been verified, lookanyone up, and Intellius, and google)They have given me know email address to email them the direct website that they claim they need to remove my info from googleAdditionally I am a domestic violence victim, identity theft victim, rape victim, and a victim of police misconductI do not ever consent for them to use my name or personal information on any of their website nor do I authorize them to give it to googleAnd If I do find it appearing ever again at any time they can plan on facing legal charges for deflammation of character and violation of privacy act.? Intelius customers are presented with a two tier pricing structure when purchasing reports on the Intelius website.? They have the option of paying the full price, or a discounted promotional price which includes a 7-Day Pass of the Intelius Premier Plus Membership.? When a customer
selects the promotional price, they are presented the benefits of the membership and the terms and conditions of the offer, including billing.? By choosing to proceed with the purchase at the promotional price, the customer agrees to the terms and conditions of the promotional offer.In this case, the promotional offer was accepted and the Intelius Premier Plus 7-Day Pass was activated? The Intelius Premier Plus Membership was canceled on 1/30/and a refund was issued for $on 2/12/2016.? The refund will appear on Ms***’s statement in one of the next two billing cycles, depending on the closing date.? No future membership charges will occur.? Ms*** will only be charged $for the People Search Report.We appreciate your cooperation in resolving this matter and apologize for any inconvenience

I am rejecting this response because: I do not believe this was all made perfectly clear, I was under the impression I was paying $for specific information pertaining to ONE personI believe this language is buried in so much information that I did not understand that I was signing up to pay $a month EVERY month moving forwardFurthermore I would never have agreed to the terms much less to be automatically renewed every yearIf I had not caught this when I did I would have continued to be billed for years to come under the automatic renewalOnce again I will point out that this service was NEVER used beyond the first date in May of The simple fact that the service was never ever used beyond that point speaks volumes that I never even realized I had this service or used itAs I stated earlier, my husband paid the monthly bill and did not pay close enough attention thinking it was the billing for our number connected to our businessBelieve me I will never ever agree to anything that has to be cancelled in order to stop being billedI think companies that sign you up for repeated billing count on the fact that people do not know what they have signed up forI would seriously like to know how many people have been scammed into paying for this service without realizing itIn response to the fact the company stated I disconnected the call before it was finished when I called them is also untrueI am the one who was disconnected from the callI did not hang up, I called back directly and spoke to a different personI called back a third time and talked to yet another person.? I feel like I have been scammed

When uploading, faxing, or mailing a copy of a driver's license, we require that the photo and the driver's license number be crossed out.? However, we do need to see the name, address, and date of birth to ensure that all information is removed from our database.? If an individual does not feel comfortable faxing us their driver’s license or other state issued identification; they can send a notarized statement of their identity.Additionally, it is important to remember that the Opt Out procedure is temporary.? Intelius is constantly updating their database with new public records.?
