Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
Sincerely,
[redacted]

Revdex.com Complaint #[redacted] The leak at Mr. [redacted]’s home was in large part due to record breaking rain the days following Christmas day 2015. 8+ inches fell in the Greater St. Louis area and as a result the city experienced devastating floods to many communities. This was not a normal amount of rain and...

was an extreme weather event. Similar to rain totals during hurricanes. An act of God. Mr. [redacted]s’ home had experienced many rain events after JBI installed his new roof without ANY leaks. Mr. [redacted]s agreed to the terms and conditions on the back of JBI’s agreement and by doing so agreed not to hold JBI responsible for consequential damages. A signature on the agreement confirms that this was read and agreed to by Mr. [redacted]s. Mr. [redacted]s even requested that the terms and conditions be altered. We have made many offers to Mr. [redacted]s without any success. Even offering to have other areas in his home painted that were not as a result of JBI workmanship. JBI feels this was above and beyond and more than fair offer for settlement. There was so much rain in fact that Mr. [redacted]s’ home experienced leaks in his chimney due to the chimney’s mortar needing repair. We have reached out to Mr. [redacted]s via email to review quotes he is receiving for the damage to his living room. He stated he has not yet received these quotes. Once he submits the quotes to JBI, we will review them and see if they are consistent with the damage inspected and documented by JBI . In order to make sure both parties are not taken advantage of, JBI will be using Xactimate software as a standard in determining costs. Xactimate is a property estimating program designed for claims adjusters, contractors, and insurance carriers. Adjusters are able to key in the type and quantity of material damaged for a particular claim, and using a built-in price list (one for every county in the United States). This is the same software that would probably be used by JBI’s insurance company if JBI decides to turn this claim over to our insurance carrier. We have been trying to expedite Mr. [redacted]s’ claim for damages and mitigate this ourselves. Mr. [redacted]s was offered this solution prior to him filing a Revdex.com complaint. JBI cannot accept, agree to any terms or compensate Mr. [redacted]s until bids are reviewed and checked against the going rate of what an insurance company would pay out for labor and material. We also feel that using Xactimate to determine what compensation is the ONLY fair and honest way for both the homeowner and JBI. JBI cannot agree to a BLANK CHECK. After a fair dollar amount has been agreed to, JBI suggests paying contractors of Mr. [redacted]s’ choice directly to avoid any unjust enrichment opportunities. In Mr. [redacted]s’ Revdex.com Complaint Desired Settlement he wishes to have JBI “Verify in writing that obligations of my roof warranty are met regarding my complaints”. JBI already has repaired any workmanship issues that were found. Mr. [redacted]s already knows this. We have not received any communication from Mr. [redacted]s about any new leaks. If Mr. [redacted]s would like a copy of his warranty mailed out to him again to read the terms he agreed to we would be more than happy to do that. He also asks for cost comparison for different vents different from vents that are currently installed. JBI chooses not to do any new or future business with Mr. [redacted]s so we will not be providing those prices to him. Mr. [redacted]s also makes reverences in his desired settlement for JBI to “train employees in providing good workmanship in installing a roof and flashing” and to “develop a process to ensure quality checks.” JBI is an industry leader and one of the largest in the Midwest, having installed thousands and thousands or roofs without issues. JBI has and does perform ongoing training to all of its employees. Warranties are not guarantees that nothing will ever happen in the life of a product rather that if something does happen, the company will be there to correct it. The good thing for Mr. [redacted]s, he contracted with JBI, a reputable company. JBI stands by its warranties and did so in this case. JBI feels that they have gone above and beyond in its attempt to make Mr. [redacted]s happy. This is the first time in the company’s history that an offer to perform more work was offered to the customer only to have the customer file a Revdex.com complaint and requests less be done.

ethics and standards of trust. A few of the Standards of Trust is: 1.Embody Integrity: Approach all business dealings, marketplace transactions and commitments with integrity.  2.Tell The Truth: Honestly represent products and services, including clear and adequate disclosure of all material items.  3. Be Responsive: Address marketplace disputes quickly, professionally, and in good faith.We live up to these and many more each and everyday. John Beal Roofing goes above and beyond when we make a mistake to make it right. One of the most important Standards of Trust we feel is the "Embody Integrity". Integrity, the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles: moral uprightness. Agreeing to provide a refund to this customer when there is and has never been anything wrong really goes against one of our company policies. "Take advantage of no one and have no one take advantage of us." The customer is clearly taking advantage of us and is using the good will of the Revdex.com to do so.There is also a Consumer Code of Ethics.  p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px 'Helvetica Neue'; -webkit-text-stroke: #000000} p.p2 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px 'Helvetica Neue'; -webkit-text-stroke: #000000; min-height: 14.0px} li.li1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px 'Helvetica Neue'; -webkit-text-stroke: #000000} span.s1 {font-kerning: none} ul.ul1 {list-style-type: disc} The Revdex.com’s mission is to promote, develop and encourage an ethical marketplace. The public shares the responsibility for maintaining an ethical marketplace. Therefore, the following Code of Ethics has been established to guide the public in this role. Education. Know your rights and responsibilities, comparison shop, read contracts, and ask questions before you buy. Investigate offers that sound too good to be true. Truthfulness. Don’t return used goods under the pretense that they are damaged if they are not. This practice, as well as price tag switching and shoplifting (or failure to report shoplifters), costs all consumers in terms of time and money. Honest. Exhibit the same kind of honesty you expect to receive from business firms. If a sales clerk makes a mistake in your favor, point it out as quickly as you would a mistake in the company’s favor. Integrity. Live up to your obligations. Enter agreements in good faith, and pay your bills when they are due. If you can’t, inform the merchant and explain why. Courtesy. Recognize that store employees are individuals. Treat them as you wish to be treated.Sensibility. Don’t make unreasonable demands. Respect the firm’s right to limit services and products offered. Don’t expect to get something for nothing. Remember, always turn to your Revdex.com for assistance with any marketplace decision or dispute.John Beal Roofing feels that this customer not only has admittedly lied in their complaint and desired resolution but has violated a few of the Revdex.com's Consumer Code of Ethics. Unfortunately, an Accredited Revdex.com business has no protection from consumers with complaints that are not factual or even true. We understand that the Revdex.com is not a court of law but at some point, a company has to have rights against consumers that lie and attempt damage a companies name just for a refund. There are no problems with the product sold. There was no damage to the consumers property. There were no injuries on the job site.  Job was completed in a manner and time as promised. The price did not change. Nothing with the job was a problem. The consumer has asked for half of their money back for a product that performs perfectly. We feel giving in to this type of demand from a customer and a consumer protection advocacy website is the only option for resolution. We are willing to provide the customer with a 100% refund. The customer asked for 50%. The customer will not have a warranty moving forward. We do not wish to ever do business with this customer ever again.   p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px 'Helvetica Neue'; -webkit-text-stroke: #000000} span.s1 {font-kerning: none} p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; font: 12.0px 'Helvetica Neue'; -webkit-text-stroke: #000000} span.s1 {font-kerning: none}

Final Consumer Response /* (2000, 9, 2015/06/01) */
This is all resolved. I told them I didn't want them to complete the work and they could deduct it from my payment, and they did.
