Review: On December 15, 2012, I entered, in good faith, a contract to convert my tub into a shower unit, with what I believed was a reputable company, Long Home. Basically, the financial terms were as set forth: 12 months “Same as Cash” upon completion of the project. The scheduled monthly payments would be $140.92 and then there’s the 15.9% finance charge that was to be tacked on IF after a year and not paid in full. As I made clear to the company’s reps that came to my house that day, this would not be a problem as I intended to pay the entire $8,498 before my year was up any way. The reps wanted a down-payment of, I believe, about $600; I went one better and gave them a $2,000.00 check on the spot – so now, my balance is $6,498. After the reps messed up the paperwork on three different later occasions--multiple excuses given for the errors on their part—finally, on January 24, 2013, the contract is re-signed for the third time (and each time, my stipulation for continuing was that the “Same as Cash” option remain intact). Finally--after the company personnel failed to show-up for the initial appoint—the installer comes about a week later and installs my shower…BUT, the installer breaks both shower doors, so now the company has to re-order the doors, so I had to wait an additional two weeks for that to occur and then take off another workday for the actual installment. In March 2013, I make a $500 payment to [redacted]. - 11 days prior to the March 29th due date. In the same month of March, unbeknownst to me, the finance company changes to [redacted], AND it’s under the misguided assumption that I DON’T have the “Same as Cash” option, which I immediately inform this new company that I most certainly do. In any event, I am now dealing with [redacted]. and [redacted] to straighten out this nightmare that Long Home caused due to its fraudulent and negligent business practices.Desired Settlement: Long Home correct the fraudulent and unethical errors it caused during the contract phase.

Response:

We spoke with [redacted] and [redacted] this morning. [redacted] from [redacted] has sent [redacted] a new contract and the same as cash addendum. I thank [redacted] for his patience with the miscommunication and ask him to contact me directly with any further questions.

Review: I had all the windows in my home replaced by Long Fence and Home in 2006. I entered into a contract that guarantees replacement of any window for free. I contacted Long Fence and Home in October 2013 concerning replacement of a window that had lost its seal and had gone bad. I was told they would replace the window. After 6 months of constantly calling requesting the status of my window replacement they finally came out to replace the window in April 2014. When the serviceman arrived to replace the window I noticed that the lattice was not configured correctly. The serviceman then measured the window and lattice and told me the new window would be ordered. I have called weekly since then and have been given the run around over and over. I have talked with supervisors and no one can give me a date of if or when the window will be completed. To this date (over 9 months later) I have not gotten the window replaced and no satisfaction from the company.Desired Settlement: I want this window replaced as expeditiously as possible. 9 months is too long to wait for a replacement window.

Response:

[redacted] has a very special order, a sliding glass door with grids that also have 3

transom windows above with grids that have to line up with the grids on the

sliding glass door. When the first service order was placed, we used the

order number for the 3 transom glass packs that were received correctly back in

2008. When we received from the manufacturer and went to the

client’s home, the grids did not line up. The

manufacturer is specially aligning the grids on [redacted]'s order. Every step of the

way, we have talked to [redacted] and explained the specialty of his project.[redacted] called

last week, and we did a 3-way call with the manufacturer. The order is

being processed and we expect it within 2 weeks. We called this morning and spoke with the manufacturer. They are in the process of aligning the

grids per our instructions. We are hoping the order will arrive on next week’s

truck as we were told last week. We have our full attention on this matter and are handling it as quickly as possible. All my best,Katie [email protected]

I am rejecting this response because:I have been getting this exact same response for over 4 months. Every time I call (weekly) and ask the status of the replacement window I get the same response. They are doing nothing to get the window replaced. How incompetent do you have to be for this to go on for over 9 months? To this day I have not received the replacement window.

Years ago I had contacted Long Fence regarding insulation services (which ultimately we did not hire them to do) and provided my business phone number to facilitate the home appointment. Years later Long Fence continues to cold-call me at work on my work phone number line during business hours. Despite continued attempts to get my name and work phone number removed from their cold-call list, Long Fence continues to cold-call me at work during business hours. When asked to be transferred to management, I have been assured repeatedly that my name would be removed from their call list but then again a few months later I will get another cold call at work during business hours on my work phone. This has been going on for five years and I would estimate that I get 5-10 calls per year.
Because of their total disregard for my privacy and my repeated requests for 'no calls', I would NEVER choose to use their services under ANY circumstances.

VERY BAD COMPANY, WHICH DOES NOT RESPECT THEIR ESTIMATE .
THEY DO LESS THEN THE ESTIMATE AND DO NOT WANT TO GIVE THE MONEY BACK FOR THE WORK AND THE MATERIALS NOT USED .
AND THEN , THEY DID TAKE MONEY OUT ON MY CREDIT, WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION.
MY ADVICE TO YOU WILL BE : DO NOT TRUST THEIR REP AT ESTIMATED TIME .

Review: My wife and I received an unsolicited sales pitch by Long Fence and Home, L.L.L.P. asking if we would like an estimate for windows, doors, etc. I informed their telephone sales representative that we had several projects and the first thing we needed done was the replacement of a large arched window -- if they could do the work. We wanted the window shortened from (t6' x w5.6') to (t4.5' x w5.6') (1.5'). I am quite experienced at construction myself, and it was a relatively easy replacement except for the weight and size of the window, with the exterior being conventional plywood and the interior being standard sheetrock. I would have done the job myself except the weight and hight of the removal would have been to difficult for myself. On November 12, 2014 the contracting representative, visited my home spent three and one half hours filling in the details of the contract. It was specified that the completion date was critical to the performance of the contract and the work would be completed on or before 14 December, 2014, because of the holidays, Christmas decorations etc. The total purchase price was calculated to be $3500.00, and the contract required one third ($1155.00) up front, the rest due upon satisfactory completion of the job. Monies were paid and we were repeatedly informed that we had "three days to cancel the contract." Four days later, we were notified that the job was accepted by Long Fence and Home, and someone would be out to take the final measurements. Several days passed, and we tried to call the representative, and were told again someone would be out in a couple days to take final measurements. On 24 November 2014, "Joe" called us and said they could not do the job, and was very evasive as to why they could not do the job, other than the "window installer didn't want to do it". Since it was a routine window replacement with some bottom framing, which was both routine and customary. Joe said "well" I will send your money back, we have "60 days to return your money". I told him in accordance with the contract, there is a 20% penalty (paragraph "Late Cancellation: Late Cancellation, Late Payment / Default). He laughed and said "No Way" and they had 60 days to return my money. He went on to tell me how there would be no penalty because of the "Delay / Unknown Condition" paragraph. I said but your representative examined the window for three and one half hours, drew pictures, and took pictures , "there were no unknown conditions," He said well, we normally just do standard window replacements, and we are not going to do it. The window was suppose to be installed for Christmas and was both our wedding anniversary (Dec 7, 1975) present and a Christmas present, and we would now be his with a premium charge for an expedited installation and because of the Christmas holidays. On top of that, our money would be held for ten days in transfer so we could not let an immediate contract. Joe laughed once again and said well, your not getting 20% and we have 60 days to refund your money,Desired Settlement: Completion of the job in accordance with the contract OR a full and "immediate refund", and the 20% cancelation fee, as specified by the contract.

Review: We had long fence install new windows and doors. They said it comes with a lifetime warranty that covers any problems that insurance wouldn't cover. About a year later I am having issues with the bottom weather stripping of my door coming off. Also on windy days there is air coming in one of the trims near the window. I called long fence and they said they would take care of it and asked if I needed any other work or estimates done. I said no. So she said she would call back later for the repair. I waited 3 weeks never heard from them.Desired Settlement: Setup a specific date and time to fix my door as if they were installing it.

Dear [redacted],

Review: To any pretentious Buyer

I want to share my experience with Long Fence and Homes!!

On January 16 2012 [redacted] "[redacted]" [redacted] and I signed a contract for 12 Windows for a total of $12,200 with a signed check of $4,050 in advance.

On February 16 2012, the windows were installed final payment was made for 8150. By February 24 2012 I was complaining of how "drafty these windows were."[redacted] came out and installed "Pile pods” at the interlock on the bottom. This still didn't stop the heat from constantly kicking on and off trying to keep the house warm. [redacted] didn't have enough of the pads, said someone else would be out to complete the windows left. Someone on March 26 2012 installed "Fuzzy pads". I thought the problem was solved. Spring and summer arrived, hard to feel air infiltration.

February 19, 2013 [redacted] came out, took pictures and chaulked, Stated, " This is all manufacturer suggested be done." When nothing was done satisfied me because there was far too much air coming in my living space, I contacted legal counsel. My letter re-questioning monetary compensation -was not received well. They said, "No way, but they would repair or replace." This quotation came from a letter sent on April 10 2013 by [redacted], Cheif Operations officer.

On April 18 2013 a **. [redacted] "[redacted]" [redacted] got here around 7:05pm.

He and I worked into the night removing the fuzzy pads which created a bigger gap at the top where the windows latched! Which little did I know at the time brought me back to the original problem, by weathers changing in Oct. I knew the problem was still here. Another representative came out on December 5th 2013 and said it was normal for plastic to blow outward like the ones at all 12 of my windows. "It’s just the way plastic acts against windows!!"

In my opinion Long Fence and Homes is too large of a company to come along and take advantage of a homeowner as myself and say there are well qualified to solve the problem. And leave me with the same or worse window and minus $12,200 from any bank account, plus the cost of heating and cooling.

My solution at 20 degrees Fahrenheit last week, I was so cold I started taping the sea** when This didn't solve the problem I still had to put up plastic. Maybe you'll have better luck.

"Buyers Beware."Desired Settlement: Replace and proper installation of product.
