Major Energy Services Reviews (256)

Review: Agents came to my house under the illusion that they were trying to save me from an increase on my BGE bill by signing me up for a new program. This was not the case and I was tricked into signing up with Major Energy. They did not explain what they were doing, only that it would help my bill from going up. I have only been purchasing from BGE for 2 months now and did not fully understand what I was signing up for. After they left and I called BGE they explained to me that I was tricked into paying a higher rate and potentially entered into a contract. They told me I had three days to cancel before the contract was finalized. Unfortunately, and possibly intentionally, this was done on a Friday at 5pm right as the company calling service was closing and would not be open again until Monday so I could not call and cancel.Desired Settlement: Cancellation without charge

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. They called me and explained that the representatives should not have convinced me to sign up the way that they had and that they will cancel the contract. I am very grateful they understood and helped me fix the problem.

Sincerely,

Review: I contacted this company because come to find out they were charging me way more than [redacted] for kw/hr. So the guy "[redacted]" at extension [redacted] offered me a one year contract of .089 kw/hr being that [redacted] was doing .096 at the time and they were currently charging me a ridiculous .11999 kw/hr. So I locked in at .089 for one year with a cancellation fee of $100 if I pull out early. So that was January. I get my bill it is at .099 not the promised .089 so I called and spoke to a [redacted] on 2/**/14 @ 10:39am and she told me she would have an account mgr. call me back. NO CALL. So I call back on 2/**/14 @10:29 and am the 6th caller in line. So my turn comes and I am sent to some voice mail. Even though I did not take the option for a call back. So I left a message and called back immediately and wouldnt you know it I was the 6th caller in line again. Refused a call back but again was transferred to some voice mail line. Now today I called again at 12:39 pm which was well over the promised 24 hour call back time and again refused the call back option but was trnsfrd to the voice mail. This time I was a little stern in my message and said I now expect a call back today. I know they will not call. Im am done with this company. And as far as I am concerned they owe me my money back for the past couple months of charging me over and they did not honor their offer so that is a breech of contract.Desired Settlement: Not only do I want the money back for the difference I paid for .099 kw/hr instead of the promised .089 kw/hr but I also want to cancel my contract with out paying a cancellation fee being that the contract was set for .089 and not .099 so really there is no contract as far as I am concerned. And most importantly....I want some one to answer the phone or call me back. This is the worst company ever and I will be sure to exploit them with all this social media and I will notify all my neighbors, family and friends that I have not told already. Also I want [redacted] to be reprimanded because he knew what he was doing when he put in that wrong rate. VERY DISHONEST company here that obviously does not care to take care of their customers once they sell them some crap dream....cause its bull crap thats why they dont pick up thier phone. Never again. Shame on you.

Business

Response:

We will be calling [redacted] today to try and resolve her concerns. It appears to be a miscommunication over a blended rate that occurs when a customer starts a new fixed rate in the middle of a cycle. This happens from time to time. We apologize for the miscommunication.

Review: For the 2nd time now since last November a representative from Major Energy came to my apartment. They only state that they are "with the Power company" showing a bill from PSE&G (the local utility) on a folder. Then they state they only want to make sure that certain fees have been taken off my bill that could be charged inappropriately to consumers that use more than XX Watts of Power or XX therms of gas. When asked who they represent only then do they state they are from Major Energy. On further questioning they state that they "supply the power to your utility" and are just "ordered to ensure that no inappropriate fees are charged".

This is clearly a misrepresentation of who they are and a horrible way to try to get to consumers.Desired Settlement: Major Energy should immediately stop this false and inappropriate campaign, based on lying to the consumer and contact under false pretenses, to try to have people switch to them as a supplier.

Business

Response:

Major Energy would like to apologize to [redacted]

for what he alleges occurred during a sales presentation by an outsourced

independent agent. We will be forwarding his complaint to the CEO and VP of the

marketing partner who has the sales agent on their staff for investigating and

retraining.

Review: My utility supplier should have been National Grid and it was some how changed to Major Energy. I did not notice for the last few months until I opened my bill and saw that it was $564.00. I called National Grid and they made me aware that they were not my supplier that Major Energy was. I told them that I did not sign up with them and how could they do this. This is unauthorized service since I never signed up. I have researched this company and see many many complaints about them.Desired Settlement: I would like to reimbursed for the difference in billing between National Grid and Major Energy, as National Grid charges .44 cents per therm for gas and .19 per therm for electric and Major Energy charges .92 per therm for gas and .27 per therm for electric. That is a huge difference in price. I am a low income family and why on earth would I go with a company that charges that much more. I hope you are able to do something about this company. Im sure im not the first nor will I be the last person they rip off.

Business

Response:

Major Energy service was agreed to via a telemarketing sale on 5/**/13 for a variable rate for both gas and electric supply. At times the rate on the bill will be higher than the default utility due to pricing regulations requiring utilities to report their rates in advance of actual market rates. This results in a delay in both price increases and decreases for utilities as opposed to ESCO variable rates which are based on real time rolling average pricing. Regardless, as an act of good faith, will reduce the commodity charges on the last bill to a rate of .1999 for Elec and the current NIMO gas rate of .75335. This will result in a refund of $106.36 and will be mailed in the next 7-10 days. Both accounts have been canceled and will return to NIMO per their schedule.

Sincerely,

Review: I was contacted by Major Energy employee in November of 2012 regarding switching my energy supplier to Major Energy. I was informed that I would be charged a lower rate than what I was currently paying at the time and that I would save money by switching to Major Energy. I agreed to switch, and when I received my February 2014 bill, my rate went up almost 400%. I was told this was due to an increase in energy rates and that due to my variable rate, that is why my bill increased. A 400% increase is completely unreasonable and was not justified by the company. The individual I spoke with at customer service could not explain to me why my rate nearly quadrupled. Looking back at my bill from the same time the previous year, and my bill is more than three times what I paid at that time. I understand that cold weather might be the reason for an increase in rate, that would be expected, but not 4 times my previous bill.Desired Settlement: I would like to request a refund of services to a reasonable rate or an explanation of why my rate increased by nearly 400%.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: Recently I found an ESCO charge on my bill and decided to figure out what that ESCO charge in fact may be. When getting in touch with [redacted], a woman explained to me that I need to get in tough with Major Energy which is who solicited door to door for these "natural gas" services back in 2009. Apparently, I've had this ESCO charge on my bill for 66 billing cycles. As you may know, it is 2014 and I pay my bills online I dont usually stare at my bill for discrepancies but I did and here I am. My [redacted] chagre was $87 while Major Energy is a whopping $161. I went ahead and canceled these "services" Ive rid of them as of January *, 2015. However, I'd like to see proof I signed something enrolling myself into these services. You see, I have absolutely no recollection of signing any complelling paperwork which bond me to paying triple the amout these last 66 months. I know its a leap but I spoke with a [redacted] at Major Energy by the name of [redacted], she was very rude and impatient with me. She would not explain how I signed up for this, what day or with whom. She was very unprofessional. Id like to receive copies of letters which I signed or Id like these fees waived. It is completely ridiculous that I am dealing with this, this is very wrong and I am appauled that instead of Joanna developing emphathy and helping me she chose to hang up the phone on me without resolving my issue. Customer Service [redacted]? I think not. PLease help me resolve this issue. Id like to see proof that I infact signed up, if they do show me I signed up back in 2009, I will retract all of my accusations. However, if they cannot come up with paperwork proving I signed up, id like my money back because thats robbery. Thanks,Desired Settlement: If there is no proof of me signing anything with them, Id like my money back.

Business

Response:

Customer has already been provided proof of enrollment. It is attached again here. No refund will be issued as there was a valid enrollment.

One of their sales people turned up at my door and was being evasive about who they really are in the scheme of energy providers, billing services, etc. Her supervisor comes over and gets right in my face, backing me into a corner trying to smooth talk me into doing what he wanted. When I ask a pointed question about what they're going to do to my bill, he says, "Nothing." I ask about fees. "We're not changing anything, but your bill will be lowered with a fixed rate." When I asked a very pointed question about what exactly their company is, he'd flip back to my bill and try to confuse me with numbers and companies.
Finally I turned on my camera and asked them to state their names and show me their ID's. I was going to record the transaction. They said it was against company policy. When I mentioned that if they're above-board it shouldn't be an issue for me to have it for legal purposes, he was not happy. They refused to give names or show me ID again.
But I know how these things work, so I got as far as the Third Party Verification phone call. During that point the rep on the phone says, "And you are aware of the $200 early cancellation fee?" No, I absolutely was not; even after asking the agent and her supervisor three times during the course of our 30 min conversation on my porch.
I counted no less than six separate lies, including the one about them not being allowed to go into anyone's house, ever (because one of their agents came waltzing out of the neighbor's house two minutes after he said this). The company themselves may be legit, but their sales people are liars and scammers just out to push that sale no matter what it takes. Do not trust them.

Review: Someone from Major Energy requested me to try out this company as my residential gas supplier promising me that I will have lot of savings over present gas provider [redacted]. I did so on good faith only to find out they are charging far far higher unfairly and every month for the last six months, I called them and left voice mail and nobody returned my phone call. I researched and came across numerous complaints against Major Energy. Instead of saving me money, they are unfairly charging me exorbitant prices - completelynegating their promise of savings - for the last five months starting from 02/**/14, Major Energy gas charges are 303.65, 194.13, 108.96,56.73,8.47, all of the bills show the gas charges would be far lower had I stayed with [redacted]. I can provide the [redacted] bills at any time. So this is a simply case of overcharging to make money from the customer unfairly.Desired Settlement: I want all extra gas charges that Major Energy made to my bills to be refunded back to me ASAP.

Business

Response:

[redacted] agreed to a variable rate market based contract (see attached). No savings were guaranteed, nor was any rate agreed to on the sale agreement. We invite [redacted] to call in and discuss his account if he would like. The account is canceled and will return to [redacted] per their schedule.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined thIf you had purchased your gas supply from [redacted], your Price to Compare for this month's

usage would have been $ 35.11, or $ 0.193965 per thermat my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]I had to cancel my enrollment w/ Major Energy because their rampant unfair practice of jacking up the bill amount which clearly shows up in the enclosed bills for last 3 months. I want to know why Major Energy's gas charges will be 100% -200% more higher than [redacted].

From Feb bill,Major Energy Services, LLC Gas Charges 303.65. Same bill page 3 shows

"If you had purchased your gas supply from [redacted], your Price to Compare for this month's

usage would have been $ 133.80, or $ 0.426615 per therm." So the diff for Feb is very close to $170, almost 150% higher.

From Jan bill,Major Energy Services, LLC Gas Charges 194.13. Same bill page 3 shows

"If you had purchased your gas supply from [redacted], your Price to Compare for this month's

usage would have been $ 96.70, or $ 0.354074 per therm."So the diff for Jan is very close to $100, almost double.

From Dec bill, Major Energy Services, LLC Gas Charges 108.96. Same bill page 3 shows "If you had purchased your gas supply from [redacted], your price to compare for this month's usage would have been $35.11 or 0.193965 per therm" So the diff for Dec is close to $60, three times!!

This is unfair billing and I want refund of these differences $170+$100+$60 =$330 and they are going to repeat this again in March.

This is outrageous and I want refund of these differences $170+$100+$60+$150 = $480. That is my only acceptable solution like any other unfortunate and deceived consumer. These unfairly inflated heating bills literally drained my resources. I appeal for justice. I attached all the bills for reference.

Good Morning,

We are sorry the customer is dissatisfied with our response. While we understand that rates this winter have been shocking, we cannot offer a refund in this situation. The customer enrolled in a variable rate plan. We do not guarantee savings and we do not price match. Please speak with your utility regarding budget billing plans.

Review: I went with Major Energy on my [redacted] bill to help lower the payment. There was never anything said about payments being increased. I am not the only person this has happened to of my friends. My payment went down wonderfully, instead of paying $160, I was now paying $54.54. In the month of January my last bill I saw was $64.64 which was fine. Then Feb. came around and didn't get a bill and they come right to my email and then March and still didn't get a bill. So I went online after a friend who also got Major Energy said their bill tripled. She advised me to look at mine. When I went onto the site to my surprise my payment was #366.06. For Feb. my bill was $177 and March is $188. I am never home and when I am home there is really not that much going besides the space heater at night, but nothing else. I reviewed my bill and it went up 19% which was said would never happen. I didn't receive any notice that Major Energy would be doing any increases or changes "EVER"!! I am a single mother and on a fixed income. I went with Major Energy to help lower my bill, but surprisingly it helped for a few months and then sky rocketed to an amount that I was not aware of. Also Major Energy is charging me for service which was never on any of my other statements and that is $139. Where and why are they doing this to people. I feel robbed, cheated, and lied to.Desired Settlement: Since I was not aware of any changes or increase with Major Energy. I believe that they should still honor what I had and remove the 19% increase. If that can not be done cancel of services and paid bill or remove the charges. I will not pay for something I was not informed of after they stated that my bill would never go over a certain percentage.

Response:

Good Afternoon,

According to the complaint, the

customer states that she is unhappy with the current rate being charged.

The customer agreed to a variable

rate contract, meaning her rate would be determined by the energy market.

As has been widely reported, there

has been a spike in the wholesale energy market which was reflected on the most

recent bill. This is merely a reflection of the current energy market where a

shrinking supply of electricity is under the strain of massive demand due to

one of the coldest winters on record. In addition, this is not just happening in Illinois.

Please see this link relating to New York prices as well.

Finally, the account has been

canceled and it is now up to the utility to process the cancellation. Please contact your utility for budget

billing concerns.

We are truly sorry for your

experience and advise you to sign up on a fixed rate that will ensure price

protection.

Why Have

Energy Bills Increased – Explaining Price Volatility

It has

been a record cold winter across much of the country, and many have been

expressing deep concern as to why energy bills have been so high. Regardless of

whether energy is purchased from a utility or a competitive energy supplier, customers

have seen electricity and natural gas prices spike in many parts of the

Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.

Why did

prices rise?

Simply

put, the issues at hand are the cold weather, electric grid and natural gas

pipeline capacity, and the increasing use of natural gas not just for heating

purposes, but to create electricity.

There is

ample gas supply in the United States, especially given the boom in shale gas.

What customers are feeling are the results of a strained transportation and

infrastructure system that delivers electricity and gas. When demand is high

and capacity is constrained, costs increase.

This

winter’s “polar vortex” has increased the demand for both natural gas and

electricity, resulting in significant congestion in the natural gas pipelines

and on the electric grid (the highways of the energy system). Everyone relies

on these natural gas pipelines and the electric grid to get energy from where

it is produced to where it is used by the homeowner, the tenant, and the

business owner. Just like only so many cars can efficiently travel along a

highway, only so much natural gas and electricity can move through the natural

gas pipeline system and the electric grid.

Also,

while more and more people are using natural gas directly for heating purposes,

electricity generators are also increasingly using natural gas to produce

affordable power. In the short-term, this electricity generation is putting

further strain on the natural gas capacity in certain parts of the country. At

the same time there are also bottlenecks on some parts of the electric grid,

preventing electricity from getting from the generators to the consumers in an

efficient manner.

It’s

known from economics that constraints on supply (such as not being able to get

gas from where it is plentiful to where it is needed) cause prices to rise, and

this has occurred in the wholesale energy markets. The result? Competitive

energy suppliers and utilities alike are paying higher than normal prices when

purchasing from the wholesale market in order to provide energy to homeowners,

tenants, and business owners. This is causing everyone’s bills to rise.

As the

winter weather gradually improves and temperatures rise, the demand for energy

to heat homes and businesses will decrease, placing less pressure on the

nation’s electricity grid and allowing energy prices from suppliers and

utilities to normalize. However, winter weather may very likely be around for

some weeks to come. Despite the unusual weather, the gas and electric delivery

systems have proven to be highly reliable this winter. A number of new natural

gas pipelines and electricity transmission lines are planned or under

construction which should reduce the chances of a similar price spike in the

future.

In the

meantime, there are some things that can be done to help manage energy bills.

Conserve energy as much as possible. For example, make sure

doors and windows are well insulated, seal any air leaks, and lower the

water temperature setting to 120 degrees on the water heater.

Customers using a competitive supplier and who are on a

variable rate plan or whose fixed contracts have expired, should review

their contract to confirm the accuracy of the pricing and call their

supplier if they have any questions.

Customers interested in price stability can also investigate

fixed price options that many suppliers offer.

Customers in need of financial assistance should investigate

their state’s home heating assistance programs. In many states, a customer

can stay with a competitive supplier and still receive assistance paying

utility bills.

Customers should visit their

state’s “energy shopping” websites to compare offers from different suppliers.

Review: This company claimed to cut my bill in half and said they were working with national grid. Like an it I believe them since I saw the Revdex.com on their form and they had all their equipment. They have not shaved my billdown but instead increased it majorly. This company is a scam. I want out of their service immediately! Is their anything you guys can do?Desired Settlement: End of service

Business

Response:

The customer's issues have already been resolved. Further, customer was billed at the agreed upon variable rate. For last month it was about $0.14/kWh whereas customer's utility company would have charged customer over $0.16/kWh.

Consumer

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved. Dear [redacted],Thank you very much for gettting back to me. I very much appreciate it. I accept the companies last response to me to remove me from their service. But if for some other reason this does not happen I will certainly let you know. Thank you again for getting back to me. [redacted]

Sincerely,

Review: I'm not sure how to categorize this compliant, but it is two fold. I decided to use this company for my energy needs. I tried it for a year (starting in 2013) and I was not satisfied with the service. It's very hard to contact this company during their business hours. I work during the day and this is not something I wish to discuss on the phone while I work. I can't call in the evening or weekend. I believe I signed up in April 2013 (it was Spring), but it did not kick in for several months. I was told it was start with the next billing cycle, which would have been 2 statement later. It was about 4 statements before it kicked. I received a call in the Spring of this year. I assume it was for this company, but I had a very hard time understanding the customer service representative as the representative did not speak English very well. At this time, I told them that I was non satisfied with my service and would like to cancel when my agreement was up. The cancellation has never come when it should have come about 4-5 months ago. I will admit that I should have taken action earlier, but work was a high priority for me. I can only assume that the renew my agreement with them. I did not consent to renew this agreement. I did not say in anyway that I would like to continue the service. There was a language barrier, so I am going to assume that there was a misunderstanding. I can't contact the company due to the hours and I don't know if I will have a representative that I can understanding. I'm trying to cancel my service and go back to the way it was before the agreement started.Desired Settlement: I would like my service to be cancelled and it return to the way it is. A refund would be nice, but not necessarily a requirement. I do feel a refund is in order since they continued to charge me for a service I did not renew.

Business

Response:

We apologize for any inconvenience the customer experienced in his attempts to cancel his service with our company. Earlier today, 12/**/14, Customer's account was set for cancellation. Customer's utility company will set the actual date of cancellation. Typically, this will be after the next meter read date. Based on customer's past readings, the utility company will process the cancellation on or about January [redacted], 2014. If customer would like an exact date, customer should call the utility company later this week and they will be able to provide the exact date. Until that time, customer will continue to be serviced by our company. No refund is warranted in this circumstance. Customer was initially enrolled on a fixed rate plan for 12 months. As per the terms and conditions, if the customer does not renew the fixed rate plan or cancel the service upon the completion of the final billing cycle, the service automatically defaults into the variable rate plan. Customer was billed in accordance with terms and conditions.

Review: I was told and lied to that my rates would not change or anything. I have more than doubled in my bill amount. I want everything returned that was basically stolen from me. I am tired of waiting on the phone to still be hung up on and my email complaints through the company are never taken care of. I was told I would NOT BE CHARGED for their services. It was simply because of [redacted] monopolizing my information needed to be under a different company name. This man would not let me leave me home until I agreed. NOW I have CANCELED my service and I get some more random people at my door. I want this to stop. I want my money back. I want to stop being taken advantage of and robbed money that could go toward my daughter's school pictures instead of having to go for the [redacted] bill that I was COMPLETELY LIED to about.Desired Settlement: I was overcharged in February in gas an amount of $80.14 and electric $44.93. March was $32.09 in electric and $60.99 in gas. Strangely my rates were never supposed to go up and YET AGAIN this month I am being overcharged $47.22 in electric and $49.00 in gas. I WANT EVERY DIME BACK!

Business

[Your Answer Here]

I was NOT TOLD it would be a rates program. I was TOLD it would be under a different name and nothing would change. My bill would not change! Nor would I be charged for anything BUT IT WASN"T TRUE!!!

Not to mention the fact that I was called by a representative from YOUR company and they were suppose to call me back and it never happened! They called me yesterday while I was at the MVA tag and title place yesterday at about 2:15p.m. and I was supposed to get a call back an hour later. It never happened. I called the number back that I received the call on and I got a machine. So I hung up. I have been ignored, waited patiently and impatiently for someone to answer the phone for hours upon hours, and hung up on repeatedly. I was NOT told it would be a discount rates plan or whatever you called it. THE PEOPLE that CAME back to my DOOR TRIED to give me a discount plan and I sent them away. There is no soliciting of any kind in my complex and yet they keep knocking at my door at unreasonable hours! No this is not acceptable. I was completely LIED TO !!!!! It was not a discount rates program. MY PAPERWORK is to simply have it under a different name because again I was told that [redacted] monopolized and it had to change. Nothing would be charged or added. You have people lying to unknowing customers to make a quick buck. I demand a refund. This is SO much hassle! How dare you treat someone like this? Lying to them and then not fixing the problem !!!

Good Evening,

We are sorry the customer remains dissatisfied. The customer did NOT enroll in a fixed-rate plan. The customer did enroll in a variable rate plan, meaning the rates would be determined by the energy market. The energy market performed very poorly this winter due to sever weather and low energy supply. As a result, rates increased. The customer was billed in accordance with our terms and conditions (attached). We are sorry the customer experienced difficulty reaching our customer service department this winter. No one told me about any plan nor does the paper I have say anything about it. When I asked to be enrolled months before hand I got hounded every night by your people knocking at my door while my daughter was asleep. I was told about no plan. No rate. No nothing. All I was told it was required by the complex to sign up. I has asked about the month after the first bill came and it was still on the bill months after. Your plan was not defined. Your rate was not stated anywhere. Give me back the money that was clearly wasted upon your company.

Review: I have been calling this company since december of 2013 in reqards to them showing up on my electric bill.. I did not authorize these people to supply services to my address. I call every month to get someone to remove this from my bill and refund my money that they have been collecting..as I explained to them that there is no verbal, written or signed contract authorizing them to supply service to me and that I want this off my account..I call [redacted] to have them removed and they cannot do anything until major energy takes themself off ..It is now april and this company is still on my bill. I will be contacting the attorney generals office to find out what other options I may have, considering what they have done im sure is illegal..I have had several turnoff notices because my bill has trippled since they have been on there.Desired Settlement: I want this company off my account and my money that has been paid to them refunded back to me...They have no records whatsoever proving that we accepted there service...

Good Morning,

The customer enrolled with us in September of 2013. We are attaching the customer's signed sales agreement. The customer spoke with several customer representatives in March of 2014, at which time the account was cancelled. We have no control over the amount of time it takes the utility to process a cancellation. We have also responded to the MD PSC regarding this customer.

Thank you,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.

Sincerely,

Review: A solicitor came to my door in October of 2014 and informed me that her company, Major Electric, was now my new electricity company and proceeded to use this falsified assumption to her advantage in getting me to sign a contract with her company. I was not provided with a copy of the contract after signing, and could not remember the name of the company, so I was not able to more carefully read the terms and conditions to which I agreed (I was also not informed of the company's three day opt-out period for new contracts). My most recent electric bill, which is still through my original provider, [redacted], finally showed an extra charge beyond my electricity consumption for Major Energy Electric, LLC, of $357.04. I was confused as to why this was there, especially after being promised lower rates, and upon calling [redacted]'s customer service I was informed it was a third party charge. This did not line up with the story I was told by (what I now realize was) the solicitor - I was only informed that she was a representative now handling my account. I called Major Energy's customer service line and waited on hold for half an hour with no given information of how long the wait time would be before hanging up. Upon reading their website's terms and agreements, I saw that they only bill every three months, and have a large contract termination fee, paying both of which I would like to be availed. This solicitor was dishonest and shady and did not provide me correct information.Desired Settlement: I would like my bill to be adjusted in respect to the removal of the charge and dis-enrollment with the LLC and any further business, as I was told before signing anything that they were already my new electric company and led to believe it was a requirement to sign their paperwork.

Response:

We apologize for any inconvenience the customer experienced. Contrary to customer's belief, customer was enrolled in August 2014, not October 2014. The sales agreement is attached. Further, our company appears on customer's utility bill as created by the utility company. No where in the terms and conditions does it state that a residential customer will be billed every three months. Regarding the long wait time, we were experiencing a very high call volume when the customer attempted to reach a representative. Our system is not capable of advising customers of real-time hold time. A customer service representative will reach out to the customer in order to address any and all other issues.

Review: I am not sure if that was the right choice for my complaint.. Major Energy Services were at my address and they were there illegally they had no permit to be there and they ask me to see my [redacted] Gas bill.. When I asked why they showed me a clip board with what appeared to be a [redacted] bill on it and said that they had several complaints about high gas bills and they were here to look into the problem.. I showed them my bill but before anything else could happen the [redacted] City Police came and made them leave my property and told them they had to leave [redacted] because they did not have a permit to be doing what they were doing.. I received a Gas bill in the mail for May in the amount of 410 dollars and when I called [redacted] that is when I learned that Major Energy Services were added to my bill.. [redacted] has also told me they have done this to numerous people and that once they get your account number they just add themselves to your account and they don't need a signature.. This is wrong and something needs to be done before they do this to anyone else.. I have removed them from my bill..Desired Settlement: I just want them to forgive the charges that they have over charged me and pay the shut off charges that [redacted] has worked out with me in the amount of 2 payments of 264.00 to make this right..

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

My name is [redacted] and my complaint is against Major Energy Services.. I am submitting this complaint against them because after being in contact with Major Energy and [redacted] over a gas bill I received in may when my bill went from 146.00/month up to 410.00 for the month of May with Major Energy through their so called budget plan [redacted] told me to pay my normal amount for that month and contact Major Energy and have them removed from my bill.. I did what [redacted] had told me to do and in the month of June I received a shut off notice for 385.00.. I called [redacted] and they worked out an arrangement to pay 264.00 before July * 2014 and then pay an additional 264.00 by July * 2014.. I had to get help for this I received 385.00 from the Neighbor for Neighbor through Northern Tier and I received the remainder of the balance from [redacted] in [redacted]. I am also not the only person they have done this too, there has been cases where they have raised peoples payments up to as much as 1000.00/month on their budget plan.. I feel that they are doing nothing more then scamming people when they do this.. I am disabled and so are a lot of these other people and we struggle to pay our bills as it is and to have them do this is not right and if someone don't stop this now they will keep on doing it.. I remember the day they were at my house because the [redacted] City Police came and threw them off my property and out of [redacted] and I don't remember signing anything with them like they claim I did and if I did why didn't they give me a copy of the so called contract to look over.. [redacted] told me that all they need is to see your bill and get the account number and then they add themselves to your bill and they feel this is right.. I feel they should have to straighten out this mess with [redacted] that they got me in and they should also have to reimburse Northern Tier Neighbor for Neighbor Program the 385.00 they paid and the 143.00 that [redacted] paid.. I also feel they either need to be shut down completely or they should not be able to go door to door and most deffinitely should not be able to add themselves to your account like they do.. Thank You [redacted]

I have not heard nothing from the PUC at all as to what is being done about this and the PUC is not the only company that needs to be looking into to this matter or into this company.. I figure since the company is based in New York then the Revdex.com should also investigate them as well and maybe look into shutting them down or make them make changes so that this does not happen to other customers..

The Electric Supply Charges jumped from 0.8499 to 0.24484 in less than a month I spoke to Major Energy representative [redacted] who promised a correction ASAP and a possible refund and I also Communicated with [redacted] ext-[redacted] on February ** 2014. she confirmed that my bill was tripled and I have to set up a payment plan with [redacted] because am under a Variable rate, I explained to her that when I signed the contract I was not told of a fixed or variable rate, I was misinformed she sent me a form I filled out and I was not the person that marked the variable rate mark. She told me my rate has been changed to a fixed rate.

On February [redacted] 2014 I received an email from [redacted] of major Energy who was responding to the complaint I filled said my Variable rate is still active and that major energy sent me a check of $148.00. I cancelled my services with them and am filling this compliant for a full payment of the amount over-billed of $661.00.

please I need an immediate resolution of this issue because I will not pay $886.15 for a one month electric bill.

Good Evening,

We are sorry the customer remains dissatisfied with our responses. However, we have already issued the customer a partial refund and have already responded to the ICC regarding this matter. The customer validly enrolled in a variable rate plan with our company. The customer has not offered any evidence of incorrect charges other than he believes the rate was higher than it should have been. We will not be issuing a further refund.

Review: A representative for Major Energy Electric came door to door and told me that he could save me money on my electric bill. He said it's cheaper with them so I signed up. My first month with them, November 2013 I'm billed $27.88 for 328 kWh. In March 2014 I was charged $47.18 for 236 kwh. February was $43.96. So in the span of 5 months the kWh rate has gone from 8 cents to .19 cents per kWh. Obviously this was not what was told to me by the salesman.Desired Settlement: I want to pay the original rate that was quoted to me.

Business

Response:

Good Morning,

The customer enrolled in a variable rate plan with our company. The

rates on a variable rate plan are subject to change based on market conditions.

Unfortunately, the energy market performed very poorly this past winter due to

decreases in energy supply and increases in demand due to the cold weather. While

suppliers like Major Energy/Respond Power base the rate on a daily rolling

average and hedging, most utilities purchase energy in massive block and adjust

quarterly or semi-annually. Because of that, sometimes suppliers find

themselves with higher rates than utilities. Eventually trends reverse and

utilities are forced to adjust their rates to make up for losses due to

underpriced supply sold to customers during high markets. The account has now been cancelled.

I am listing the 4/**/14 date as I am stuck with this company untill that date and I already know they will be overcharging me during this time also.

Business

Response:

Good Evening,

According to the complaint, the

customer is unhappy with the recent rate being charged.

The customer agreed to a variable

rate contract, meaning the rate would be determined by the energy market.

As has been widely reported, there

has been a spike in the wholesale energy market which was reflected on the most

recent bill. This is merely a reflection of the current energy market where a

shrinking supply of electricity is under the strain of massive demand due to

one of the coldest winters on record. Please see this link relating to New York prices as well.

Finally, the account has been

canceled and it is now up to the utility to process the cancellation. Please contact your utility for budget

billing concerns.

We are truly sorry for your

experience and advise you to sign up on a fixed rate that will ensure price

protection.

Why Have

Energy Bills Increased – Explaining Price Volatility

It has

been a record cold winter across much of the country, and many have been

expressing deep concern as to why energy bills have been so high. Regardless of

whether energy is purchased from a utility or a competitive energy supplier,

customers have seen electricity and natural gas prices spike in many parts of

the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions.

Why did

prices rise?

Simply

put, the issues at hand are the cold weather, electric grid and natural gas

pipeline capacity, and the increasing use of natural gas not just for heating

purposes, but to create electricity.

There is

ample gas supply in the United States, especially given the boom in shale gas.

For a list of shopping websites, visit [redacted]

A salesperson arrived at our home today and did not really explain the services the company offered, merely stating they were our emergency backup energy provider. Yet they didn't have our account info with the electric company, which should have been a red flag right there. I foolishly provided it anyway, as the gentleman appeared legit, as he was using his real name (and providing proper ID) and paperwork showing the company's A+ Revdex.com rating. He never explained he worked for an ESCO, and we are already under contract with one. It seemed that my concerns with breaking that contract was not a cause for worry. We hit a snag when my wife was the person on the account, and he tried to push the transaction forward by asking my mother to present herself as the subscriber. I'm no legal expert, but that essentially sounds like he was requesting us to engage in fraud. I asked him to leave and talk to my wife. Should he try to do so, we are now informed and prepared to say no to the sale. However, we still have to contact our energy company and let them know of the potential fraud on our account. Needless to say, all I really needed from this company was honesty, and definitely did not get it.
