Marketplace Homes Reviews (%countItem)

Marketplace Homes represented themselves to me that if I buy through one of their preferred builder they would sell my home for 1% commission. I signed the agreement July 2017. I did not know I would have to find the new home 100% on my own. I found a property I wanted to look at and the agent made the appointment for me at the wrong property hours away from the area I was buying in. I ended up doing my own research and found a new construction property I liked but it was not one of their preferred, The Agent *** told me I could go to any builder I wanted just to remember to have her name listed on the contract.

Our existing home was listed on the market and we had a buyer with a closing date of Oct 2017 and the new construction home we were purchasing would be ready Feb 2018. In the month of Sept-Oct 2017 I called *** to get help with the new construction and get guidance, she returned non of our calls, I called Marketplace homes and complain and we were contacted by *** Oct 17th 2017 and said she would take over going forward.

Well our existing home did not sell, the buyer was not able to close, we allowed the buyer to move into our house with a temporary occupancy agreement to work out the issues with closing. As of Jan 2018 the house has not sold and the buyer is renting with a temporary occupancy agreement..

We have not heard from our agent *** since Oct 2017. I sent her a email Jan 23rd complaining of not having the aid of a realtor helping us with this new construction home purchase and she has not responded. I feel they tricked me into putting their agent name on my new home purchase to get commission but they have not had a single part in the buying process. Nor have they sold my original home. I feel liked to, tricked, and scammed.

My experience with marketplace homes as a general contractor overall has been great, I have worked closely with Amber Benak to get home inspections and property repairs completed, she is very professional, quick to respond and detailed about work needed. Everything is very well planned out on her end so that when its my turn to do my job I have all of the details needed so I do not have to continue going back and forth to clarify information. It is a very reliable and easy work relationship, as a contractor that is hard to come by and very much appreciated.

I recently subleased my home through Marketplace Homes. January 1st 2018 I took possession of my condo back. I was told all utilities bills were to be zeroed out. When I went to transfer the bills I found an outstanding trash bill for $120. I tried to contact Marketplace Homes and nobody would take my phone call. I received an email back from *** telling me the trash bill was my responsibility. *** told me when the previous tenant moved out I was to transfer the utilities in my name. When I pointed out to *** I had an email stating Marketplace Homes would transfer all utilities in their name she never responded. I asked several times for a phone call back. I attempted to contact the owner ***. *** responded back and stated that the bill was being submitted to be paid. 2 weeks later I ended up paying the bill.

We are very sorry for your frustrations. I have looked into your concerns and found that We only cover gas, electric and water per the lease. We are sorry that you feel that trash was ours to pay. There were some repairs done on the house and we only cover $1000 in damages and that has been used already. This does not allow for us to pay for the trash. I hope that this makes since and you understand.

Thank you

I previously submitted a complaint and wanted to post a positive review. Dorothy and Melissa worked relentlessly to help myself and my wife resolve the leasing situation we were in, and I greatly appreciate them for working so hard on the matter.

It was a rocky start to my wife and I's relationship with Marketplace Homes, but we ended well, and I greatly respect that the company worked with the homeowner to figure out a good resolution for my family. Dorothy and Melissa were great!

I recently worked with Jon Wilson of MPH and wow what a pleasure. It is nice to see people do what they say they are going to do. I highly recommend using this company for all property management needs!

We just had the pleasure or working with the team at Marketplace Homes and it was an absolute pleasure. They are professional, clear and concise with their communications and always respond in a prompt and courteous manner. We look forward to working with them again in the future!

Its been great working with Edda O'Brien - Home Marketing Concierge at Marketplace Homes. I am a professional photographer and Edda contacted me about taking some photos of client homes in my area. Communication was easy and quick when I needed to contact her regarding details and I am impressed with their professional advertising presentation of client's homes on their website.

Shawna is very professional and trustworthy. This company is reliable and it was a delight to work with them . they were always prompt and courteous during the whole process. Shawna makes doing business a pleasure. I will strongly recommend them to anyone who needs a great services.

I am very appreciative of the work done by Lacy Elayssandria. She went above and beyond and got me and my fiancé into a extremely nice home.

Lacy has been the best representative of a company I have ever had the pleasure of working with. Marketplace Homes have helped my fiancé and I get into a wonderfully beautiful home and worked directly with the homeowner.

One word: unprofessional. The employees at this establishment do not communicate to one another or their superiors. I have contacted them on numerous occasions and, thereafter, they call me or send an email as if I had never contacted them at all. My advice if you rent from them would be to write down the name of the person you're speaking with and every word they say. Never have had a worse renting experience.

Shawna Hoenicke has been great to work with. Shawna is very professional. She's keeping up to date on my property as the tenant was ending the lease and the search for a new tenant. If one is looking for a good property management person she's the one.

Marketplace Homes was wonderful in helping us deal with our landlord and their customer service was so kind - we especially appreciated their help with communication towards the end of our lease term in negotiating more time, dealing with damages/claims etc.

Shawna Hoenicke was great to work with! Very professional and polite the whole process!

As a contractor its so nice to deal with companies who actually care, Linda Bonell cared enough to stay in constant contact with me and made sure I was being paid when I was supposed to be paid. MarketPlace homes has been the best company I've been blessed enough to work with. Thanks guys!

My monthly reimbursement for my rental property is consistently late with no written or verbal notice, which clearly is required in my contract. After numerous calls for over 1 year now and only ever speaking to an operator, I am never allowed to speak to a manager or supervisor, they are always not available. I have left over twenty messages for more than 1 year now for someone to return my calls about my questions, I've never gotten one call back or response. I am ignored and constantly given excuses by operators only.

Marketplace Homes Response

We are sorry for any inconvenience. Our CFO has reached out to *** and reviewed when to expect payment based on the terms, and he was unsure of the timeline. The finance Department committed to alert him if payment is late. The October Payment was wired and *** received it right away. The CFo explained that we are in the process of changing software to make these things more efficient.
Thank you

I just recently did business with marketplace homes. The representative Shawna Hoenicke was easy to talk to and got business done with simplicity.

Great team that did an awesome job selling my home.

I was on the buyers side of Marketplace Homes. I am not one to always write bad reviews, but this one was definitely needed to be written. My family and I purchased a home back in May and we have bad buyers remorse and wanted to move on by selling this house. We were told by multiple home builders to contact Justin Lauer from Marketplace Homes, were told he would work with us to help us get into our new construction home and out from under our current home. A lot of the facts seemed almost too good to be true, and it was awesome speaking with him the first few times. He was very informative and responsive and reassured our fears of not being able to sell our home. First off, we put over $100,000 down on our current home and we need that money to put down on a new home. In the event that our current home doesn't sell in time, Justin Lauer told us that he could get an approval from legal and they would be able to give us our down payment amount (interest free) so we could put it down on the new home in order to close, then in the mean time they would pick up our monthly note on our current home and we would just be responsible for general maintenance (mowing lawn, repairs, etc.) They would keep it on the market, then when it closed they would take back the money they gave me and the rest would be used to pay off the loan. Then we found out we couldn't go conventional from the lender and had to go FHA again, we currently have an FHA loan on our current home and as many people know, you can only have one FHA loan at a time. So we put our $1,000 down on our new home to be built, and started the official loan approval process. Once Justin Lauer found out we could only go FHA, he sent me an email saying since we couldn't go conventional he would see about resubmitting it as a sale with buyout, and would possibly have an answer early the following week. I wrote him back to get a better understanding of the buyout program, and then received no further contact from Justin. We tried, email, texting him, calling him, etc. My husband tried off his cell phone (different from what we normally used) and Justin Lauer was quick to reply with a text that he could leave a message and he would return the call asap. Then immediately afterwards we called from my phone and didn't get the same text back. Many of the builders were so head over heals about Justin Lauer and spoke about how well he communicates, and I have no idea why. Communication at first was good, but as the days went on and after we signed this contract with him, the communication became nonexistent. I will not be participating in any programs though Marketplace Homes or be working with Justin Lauer in the future. When selling your home, its always best to deal with someone in person. You will never meet him, and obviously Justin Lauer doesn't care enough anyway so how could you work with someone like that? I read a ton of reviews on Marketplace Homes on other websites, but most reviews were bad, but based off the rentals side only. I cancelled our contract with Marketplace Homes, I do not work well with bad communication. I will not tolerate it, and I need a company and person I can depend on.

Mike's Mission Statement isn't even close to what it makes him out to be! I had a viewing at one of their properties on 9/23. I spoke with Kelly while in the property and told her that we were unable to view the Master Bathroom because it was shut tight and we didn't want to break it by trying harder to open it. She reached out to my roommate and I and by the following week 9/30, I stated that if the bathroom door was fixed and we can view it again, we would be interested in seeing it again as it was one of our choices to rent. She stated that she didn't know if it was but she did state that the order was put in Thursday. (This is 5 days after we told her). I was stunned by that pace of concern and I was stunned that she wasn't communicated with as to the status of the door. There were other concerns that were not addressed either. I finally reached out to "Mike Kalis" in hopes to not only let him know how this company was being conducted but to also find out some answers that we were not getting. I left him an email with my contact information on it and the concerns. I received an email... NOT A CALL... from Mike that read simply this "Lets agree to simply go seperate ways. Sounds like you are best to find a different property. " My response was "This is your response". Kelly accidently sent me a copy of what her response was to Mike. I then asked Mike to give me a call and he didn't/couldn't make that call. (This is a CEO of a company)!!!! He came back in an email "I'm sorry that the previous email should not have been sent. But the decision to part ways is obviously mutually beneficial for all involved. I consider this matter closed." WHO DOES THIS? This is being put on your website first. I do and will take the time to place it on other social media sites! Kelly, I said "lady" versus your name because I wasn't interested in getting anyone in trouble, but I was interested in getting some answers. I hope this is a learning curve for you and the company Marketplace Homes!!!
