Thank you for the great review and your business.

All the people we came into contact with at Matrix were wonderful! Ben was the main guy on site and he was great. We appreciated his communication about the upcoming steps and what to expect next throughout the process.
A special thank you to Anthony and Jay! Anthony was the foreman who handled all the scheduling and answered questions via phone. We don’t know how Anthony juggles it all, but he did and was readily available to us when we needed him. We met Jay closer to the end of the project. Jay is very knowledgeable and his work is exemplary! We are happy with the overall work that was completed in our basement and have received many compliments. The foam insulation they use is also very effective - our basement is now the warmest room in our house!

I hired Matrix Basement to finish a portion of my basement, including an addition of a bathroom. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone, especially for the price. When people use my restroom that Matrix installed, they laugh at how ridiculous it looks.
• Was told to order materials for my bathroom but when the plumber came he then told me that I'd ordered the wrong materials despite ordering exactly what I was told. I had a day to run around town, rent a truck, and return and re-buy items like my shower and bath-tub.
• No approved layout of bathroom before work was done!!!! How can any contract worker do construction WITHOUT an approved layout? In the beginning there was a lot of pressure to sign the layout so I took it very seriously. I was told material wouldn't be ordered without a signed layout yet all of the work on my bathroom was completed despite my communication with the foremen that I was NOT ok to approve the bathroom layout but the work kept progressing.
? Added for a cut-out to allow for shelves to alleviate the lost square footage due to poor planning. I told the PM I wanted to be able to store towels. The "shelves" that were added are actually just a cubby and aren't even large enough to store 1 towel. He reminded me that I wasn't paying for them anyway… instead of fixing it to what we had discussed.
? Hard to access clean out drain for upstairs bathroom so they notched out my drywall vs re arranging layout despite my many concerns. Very unattractive looking. Trim above the door in the bathroom had to be made removable. This was especially concerning since I could hear my foreman discussing with the workers that "that never should have happened" and "the framing guys should have caught that" so I know the work isn't correct.
? Trim that was installed is very messy looking in the bathroom
• Broke back door to home was broken and took a month and a half for them to replace what they'd broken.
• Door handle height for the bathroom was extremely low; the door had been trimmed over a foot from the bottom only. They assured me that it was normal and ok. After I continued to express concern they agreed to get me a replacement door with an appropriately heighted handle.
• Prior to the project I had the electrical work done with a trusted source, I'm glad I did… Matrix removed electrical outlets and light switches that I had paid someone else to install. They added back the switch that they removed but still haven't reimbursed me for the outlets they removed without my consultation. Also, the lights in my basement are constantly flickering now, not a problem I had prior to their work.
• There was a can light outside of my bathroom that was moved and replaced hanging only by one (bent) nail. After many requests they finally hung it more safely though not in-line with the other lights in the hallway.
• My original project scope didn't include crown molding but I have it now... I didn't want upper molding as my upstairs doesn’t have it and I wanted the floors to be as similar as possible. When the drywall was finished I noticed the top was where the drywall was trimmed, so it was covered in jagged edges.
• Had to give my own personal paint to cover the mess made by the spray foam team AND to fix mess ups that the team had made with spray paint on my ceiling. They also asked me if I had paint brushes they could use…
• Communications were last minute and/or non-existent unless I asked (trash pick-up, electricians, general visits)
• After all of this they asked me to sign the project completion form and I said I wouldn't. It's Nov11 and My project was started on 4Sep and I'm still missing outlet covers? Paint touch-up are still needed… I asked 3 different people at Matrix who I could talk to about the project and nobody will meet with me to discuss my concerns.
• In the original contract I was told that the work would be consecutive days, this was also not the case. There would be several days between when workers would show up. Some of the crew was very nice, but others were very immature, farting in the room while I was reviewing the basement. There was one day when I had gotten home, the work was done for the day and my egress window was left WIDE OPEN. I had to vacuum and wipe down the usable spaces of the basement after they were done because the place was left dirty and covered with debris.
• I have a clean-out hole on my floor from having new drain tile installed, somehow the workers broke a cover for the hole and then didn't replace the cover (even though I told my foreman about it) before installing the carpet.
• When the carpet was installed I was walking around and my foot was stabbed by the carpet spikes, when I expressed concern to the foreman he came in and hammered all of the spikes… now if the carpet has to be released for some reason it is now locked downed and maybe hard to do without damaging the carpet. He should have pulled up the carpet and shimmed the pins so they didn’t stick out as much, or called back his carpet crew to do the job right, the spikes were sticking out around half of the room.
After all of this I asked for a 15% discount and to speak to someone. I was offered 200 dollars and nobody will arrange a discussion with me, despite me asking my foreman, PM, and my design consultant. The 200 dollars wouldn't even make up for the electrical work that they undid... I left a review on their main site to try and get someone to contact me... My review wasn't even posted.

We hired this company on June 29, 2019 to remodel our master shower and bath surround and after not hearing from them for about 5 weeks, I contacted the sales guy and he checked on the status and said they would be out here in about a week to measure. I received a text from the owner that they would start on Wednesday, August 21 and that was delayed until Thursday the 22. We were informed before they stated that it would be a 2-3 day job, staring in Thursday and finishing on the following Monday. By Saturday we were so unhappy with the job that I insisted a
Supervisor be here before anymore work continues. The production manager, Jake was sent out on Monday and I explained to him all the things that I we were unhappy with. Including, the shower not being extended as we wanted. They started to cut the pony wall down THEN I was informed that the shower pan was too small. I said I wanted another shower pan but Jeff said that it would take two weeks. I said I did not care I wanted what we asked for. He promised that he would make it right and before I knew it, built the pony wall back up and installed the shower pan and refused to change it. They chipped our bathtub and Jake defended it by saying that happens sometimes when removing tile. Jake assured us that all of our concerns would be taken care of and they started right back on the job again.
after Jake left. It just got worse from there. They put more gouges, chips and pits in our tub, put a hole into the wall where the tub faucet is through to the bedroom ( the repair is awful), he used a brown colored caulk around part of the shower and the window and the rest was clear, they cracked a floor tile and patched it with grout, left a small hole in our bathroom wall, no shower head up and then said he was done. I was shocked but decided to get him out of my house and just call for a supervisor again. Our bathtub is still damaged and water leaks from under the shower door onto our floor and the work looks like a child did it.

We needed to update our existing basement and could not have been happier that we chose Matrix to do the work. They took the time to consult with us as to our needs and arrived with a plan that encompassed all of our needs. Our project was made all of the more difficult because our basement includes a fully functional model railroad layout that could not be moved and the workers could not have been better in working around this obstacle. Daniel and Victor were two of the most hardworking and meticulous individuals that you could ever ask for. Their attention to detail was outstanding. They handled those inevitable issues that arose very professionally and kept us informed every step of the way. We could not have been more pleased with Matrix Basements.

We contracted with Matrix to install a new tub and surround. After several problems with items and installation both parities agreed to a $500 credit. It was verified and agreed to by both parties via email and text on 9/9/2019. Even though the contract terms were changed on 9/9/2019, they withdrew from the loan (we financed through them) the original amount of $6196 instead of $5696.
I called and left a message for the accounting department (I have his name). I texted one person(on site manager) on 9/11/2019 and 9/19/2019. I texted the other person (sales manager) that offered the $500 credit on 9/12/2019, 9/14/2019, 9/18/2019 and 9/20/2019. No $500 credit or check has been sent to the date of this complaint. None of the 3 people I contacted have let me know the status. I also tried to dispute the charge with the third party creditor and have them investigate it, but they have not responded. Matrix has breached our contract.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. It is a shame that it took the filing of this on 9/25/2019 in order to get a response by the company via text message on 9/27/2019. The check finally arrived on 10/7/2019 so that the agreement was finally honored.

Sincerely,

Lynette

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. It is a shame that it took the filing of this on 9/25/2019 in order to get a response by the company via text message on 9/27/2019. The check finally arrived on 10/7/2019 so that the agreement was finally honored.

Sincerely,

Lynette
