Review: I have long distance for my land line with [redacted]. I received a long distance bill from MCI for over $140 for 1 call lasting 66 minutes. April 8, 2014Dear [redacted]:This is in response to a complaint you filed with the Revdex.com regarding a dispute with MCI. You indicate you previously requested a contract showing you were with MCI. You dispute a bill you received from MCI recently. MCI records indicate you had a previous MCI account, [redacted]. Applicable law only requires carriers to retain a copy of the verification for the installation of an account for two years. The installation for this account took place more than two years ago. On February 25, 2009, [redacted] Jenkins called to cancel the account. She was informed if the long distance service was not switched away; youwould lose service or receive higher rates and surcharges with additional invoices. She was informed she needed to contact the local telephone company to switch the service away from MCI. In order to confirm your long distance carrier on your telephone number, please dial ###-###-#### from your telephone number. You should receive an automated message stating the company that is providing your long distance service. If your service is not connected to your chosen carrier, please contact your local telephone company directly to have your service switched to your carrier of choice. It is your local telephone company who is responsible for directing traffic to your chosen carrier of choice. MCI records indicate MCI billed you for a direct dialed call made on December 14, 2013. MCI’s research found that the disputed call was directed to the MCI network as billable traffic for your telephone number. The bill is valid and no credit will be issued. MCI sent no orders to switch your long distance service to MCI. MCI placed a long distance block on your telephone line to prevent future calls from beingcarried over the MCI network. Thank you for allowing MCI the opportunity to address this matter. If you have any further questions please contact me at ###-###-####. Sincerely,

September 18, 2014Dear [redacted],This letter provides MCI’s response to the above referenced complaint you filed with the Revdex.com regarding the loss of telephone services for telephone number ###-###-#### in February 2014. The following provides information from MCI’s records associated with telephone number ###-###-####.MCI offers local telephone service in your area via a wholesale agreement with [redacted] as MCI does not own any local service telephone lines in that area. This wholesale agreement allows MCI to migrate existing telephone services as long as the line is active on [redacted]’s network. MCI may also install new telephone service via this agreement. MCI submits all service orders to [redacted] for completion and also utilizes [redacted] Repair services for any problems with the service on the lines connected to the Network Interface Device (NID). Any service issues related to problems with the wiring on the consumer’s side of the NID is the consumer’s responsibility. MCI does offer an optional Wire Solution Protection plan for any repair issues associated with for the customer’s inside wiring or the consumer may hire their own private vendor to complete repair.MCI established account [redacted] with local and long distance services for telephone number ###-###-#### on December 20, 2012 via our wholesale agreement with [redacted]. On January 9, 2014, MCI received a call from you indicating you had no dial tone on telephone number ###-###-####. MCI opened a repair ticket with [redacted] Repair ([redacted]) and received a commitment of January 10, 2014 by 7:00pm. On January 11, 2014, you contacted MCI for status of the repair ticket as you still had no dial tone. MCI contacted [redacted] Repair and we were informed at that time that an order to disconnect the service had been processed. MCI received a Line Loss Notice from [redacted] on January 10, 2014 indicating the service was removed from MCI and MCI deactivated the billing on account [redacted]. MCI deactivated the long distance and entire account on January 20, 2014. MCI has no record of requesting disconnection of the service to telephone number ###-###-#### and account [redacted] had the Direct Debit payment option active so there were no past due balance issues. On January 13, 2014, per the request of your wife, MCI submitted an order to [redacted] to reactivate the local and long distance services for telephone number ###-###-#### via our wholesale agreement. [redacted] completed that order on January 17, 2014. Due to system issues, MCI was not able to reactivate the Neighborhood Unlimited calling plan until February 7, 2014. This resulted in the February 22, 2014 invoice billing charges between January 17 and February 6, 2014 at the MCI Neighborhood Local Basic Service Plus plan fees and rates (toll calls billed at per minute rates) and charges between February 7 and February 21, 2014 to bill at the Neighborhood Unlimited plan fee/rates (unlimited domestic toll calling). MCI sent adjustments to your bank totaling $148.88 ($8.28 on 2/5/17 for no dial tone credit; $124.65 on 4/17/14 for initial re-rate adjustment for toll calls on the 2/22/14 invoice; $15.95 on 5/20/14 for additional credit for re-rate adjustment of the 2/22/14 invoice).

Review: I received a $50.07 bill for one 35 minute phone call from [redacted] NY ([redacted]) to [redacted], NY from MCI. I am NOT a customer of MCI. I am part of a "triple play" package with [redacted] - [redacted] is my phone carrier. [redacted] has my cell phone account and that number is [redacted].

I called the number on the MCI bill twice. I received menu options and was finally told no one was available to take my call and to leave my name and number and someone would get back to me. This was all on a recording and NO ONE returned my calls.Desired Settlement: I would like a written explanation that I do NOT owe MCI any money and I would like an explanation as to how this attempted scam occurred. How did MCI get my name and number.

Response:

Dear [redacted],

This letter is in response to the complaint [redacted] filed with the Revdex.com. According to her complaint, she was contacted by someone who identified themselves as “David, from MCI.” [redacted] stated the agent was rude to her and then hung up. [redacted] wanted to report this behavior.

I contacted [redacted] regarding this complaint and she provided me the number the call was placed to. I conducted a call search on phone number ###-###-#### and ###-###-#### and did not find any calls made to either phone number on October 29, 2014. MCI also does not have record of either phone number being on any deactivated account(s) or any account(s) that have been sent to collections. I can only surmise that the person was calling from another company or “spoofing” an MCI number. I contacted [redacted] again and explained my findings and she thanked me for taking the time to research this matter.

If I may be of further assistance, please contact me at ###-###-####, extension [redacted].

Review: I have received 6 calls in the past 2 hours from one individual desk line at ###-###-####. I have also recorded his phone calls, due to the guy being very rude, and telling me I am lying. He has called and asked for someone who I never even heard of. The first phone call I told him that I didnt know who he was trying to call, but I never heard of that person. He called back 10 minutes later, and asked for that person again. I repeated to him sorry you have the wrong number, please stop calling me. He called back 15 minutes later and told me He knows that I am lying because he can hear it in my voice, and he wanted to talk to that person and right now, before he comes and finds me and that person. I told him that the calls were being recorded and I wanted to talk to his manager. He told me he worked for his self. I asked him for his name and he told me his name was [redacted] and he worked for [redacted] under MCI COMMUNICATIONS, and his boss is his self. I asked again can I speak with your boss cause you are very rude, and need to learn to talk to people, he replied back by telling me that I didnt need to talk to nobody but him becuase I was lying about knowing this person. I hung up. He called back again 15 minutes later, and asked for this indivdual again who I have never heard of, when I explained to him that he keeps calling the wrong number, and I never heard of that person, he told me again Your lying and I know you are becuase you have the same last name. My last name is very common, and I was actually insulated by that comment made from him. I hung up and tried to look up his phone number online. I noticed that it is a land line and he lives in [redacted], TX. I'm not sure where they find bill collectors, but if one person tells you that they dont know someone you are trying to reach I think you should remove their phone number from that directory. I wanted to report this guy named [redacted] with the telephone number ###-###-#### due to that number being tied to MCI COMMUNICATIONS. He is very rude and very unprofessional. I have also kept all recordings from his call, in which he continues to call my work cell phone, which all calls are recorded for sales purposes.Desired Settlement: I would like for this person to stop contacting me as well as an apology letter from this company that this will not happen again. I'm not sure where they find these bill collectors, and how they screen them, but it's obvious they just hire anyone who needs a job. I want a full apology from the company as well as the person who contacted me and continues to contact me. I will also like my number removed from their data base, and to never be contacted again by this company, who is rude and very unproffesional.

Dear [redacted],

Review: In early September 2012 I switched my phone service from MCI to [redacted] and paid what I thought was my final bill. I continued to receive bills from MCI. In late October I called MCI customer service and discussed the matter for thirty minutes with a representative. He assured me that my service was officially discontinued and that I would not be billed for the previous two months. However, I continued to receive ever larger bills. In December I called MCI customer service again and got an automated message saying my service had been discontinued. But I continued to receive ever larger bills and now receive one monthly for $366.70. I have no confidence that any business I conduct with MCI on the phone will be registered. I wrote to them in February to ask them to stop sending me bills. They have continued to do so.

Response:

Dear [redacted],

I tried to cancel my account with the TTI National, Inc. I had used their long-distance landline service for years, however stopped using the landline for long distance so didn't need it. The customer rep was aggressive and demanded, "why am I stopping service" over and over and told me that after 60 days from canceling, my phone # would be permanently blocked FOREVER and I would NEVER be able to have long-distance service on that line again! I suggested that that sounded illegal, asked to speak with someone whose English was more understandable, and was argued with. Once the supervisor came on, it was more of the same. Do NOT use this company!

Review: This company has charged me an additional $421.85 for phone service fees I did not warrent or use. They have refused to 1) not only reverse these charges but 2) refuse to send me an invoice which I can file with my bank for Fraud protection. Even after this claim has been made the company continues to charge my account $25.00 daily. I have had to change my credit card information in additon to possibly paying pentalies with the Bank. I have made several unsucessful calls to this company in hopes to resolve this issue as well as spoke with supervisors. They have made claims they have no records of this charges and will forward what they have, but they continue to fail on thier promises. I have a bank statement proving this compnay is charging me for additonal services that I did not use.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Refund

I would like either my account refunded for the amount above as well as an invoice of their record.

Review: I requested MCI to close my account in April 2014 because I discovered that service for my home telephone land line was being provided by [redacted] when they bought out [redacted]. MCI continued to bill me. I called the 800 number on the bill and was directed to wait for a representative or go on-line to cancel my acct. I went on-line at www.mci.com/service and was required to wait for a pin number to be sent to me sometime in the next 24 hours so that I could access my account info on-line. In the meantime, I sent my payment on 4/21/14 for $17.89 along with a written request to please cancel my account. I called [redacted] to make sure they provided my phone service and they confirmed that they did and that I would still have service if I called MCI and cancelled because [redacted] was providing it. On 7/1/14 I went on-line to MCI and was able to see my statements, but when I clicked on "manage my account", nothing happened. I went to FAQ and went to how to make changes to my account and it said "Our web-based email application is temporarily unavailable." I quit paying my bills. I received a "Cancellation Notice" dated 9/10/14 stating I owed $36.00.. This was good because that was I wanted all along. I then received a Collection Warning dated 10/11/2014 saying the account had an outstanding balance when it was cancelled and I owed them $90.21, and if I didn't pay it my account would be assigned to a collection agency. Today I called ###-###-#### to try to get to the bottom of everything. I was told to call Customer Service at ###-###-####. They told me to call ###-###-####. When I called this number, I was told that I won a cruise and to press any touchtone to talk to a rep about my trip. I didn't touch anything. Then a voice came on saying if I wanted additional information I should call ###-###-####. I didn't do anything. Then a voice said, "Please hang up now." two times. Then there was a loud screeching noise. The the phone went silent and finally a dial tone. So I called the ###-###-#### which said, "To be connected to [redacted], press * to talk to a sponsor." Then it told me my phone number, "Your number is ----------." and that I could choose to text it or something else, I think e-mail it. Again it said to press "*" to talk to their sponsor from Total Bankruptcy. I pressed star and a man said he was from Total Bankruptcy and I asked him what was going on, that I was trying to contact MCI. He said he had no idea. I asked why MCI gave me his number, and he said he had no idea. I asked if he or his company had anything to do with MCI or MCI Bankruptcy, and he said "no". I hung up. I had asked him about MCI Bankruptcy because it was listed in the Collection Warning as a place for customers who had filed bankruptcy to send their documents. Then I noticed there was different phone number on the Cancellation Notice so I called ###-###-####. They said they would need me to call ###-###-####, and I told her I had already done that I it was about winning a cruise and led me nowhere. So she said she would transfer me herself and said, "Don't hang up." I waited and then got a dial tone. I called again and a different lady so she would connect me to customer service. They said they would transfer me to financial assistance. They said that my last payment was in April 2014, which means they did not have the July [redacted] payment recorded that I had made on-line. I said that was incorrect and I wanted to talk to someone about how to close my account. transferred me back to a woman named Sheila that I had talked to earlier, so I told her I was going to report them to the Revdex.com and I hung up.Desired Settlement: I would like to be cleared of all charges since I did not receive services from MCI for the time billed and had tried to close my account repeatedly. I would like my credit rating to be cleared if they did, in fact, send my account to a collection agency. I would like this company to be investigated because I think it is a scam.

Response:

This is in response to the complaint filed with the Revdex.com by Linda L[redacted]. In her complaint, [redacted] indicates that she has attempted to cancel her MCI account since April 2014 because her services are provided by [redacted].

MCI account number [redacted] was originally established on September 10, 1998, for long distance and local toll services. At that time, [redacted]’s local service provider was [redacted] and it remained [redacted] until the local exchange services in the state of Illinois were sold to [redacted]. At no time has MCI provided or billed [redacted] for local service.

MCI has no record of any request to cancel [redacted]’s account until an email sent to MCI’s e-Customer Service on July 10, 2014. MCI sent a response email to [redacted] offering a review of her account to resolve her dispute or to confirm her decision to cancel by responding to the email. The email further advised her that she would need to contact her local service provider in order to switch her long distance and local toll services away from the MCI network. There is no record of any response to this email. In addition, MCI has received no notification from [redacted] that her services have been switched away from the MCI network.

I reviewed the [redacted] customer service record for telephone number [redacted]’s records reflect that [redacted]’s telephone line remains subscribed to the MCI network for long distance and local toll services through today’s date. As such, all charges billed to [redacted] are valid.

Despite the validity of the charges, I issued a credit to her account for $90.52, in the interest of resolution. This credit closes [redacted]’s account with a $0 balance. Although her MCI billing account has been canceled, her services remain active on the MCI network. [redacted] needs to contact [redacted] to have her long distance and local toll services switched to another provider in order to ensure that she incurs no future MCI charges.

Thank you for allowing MCI the opportunity to address [redacted]’s concern.

Sincerely,

Rick G[redacted] MCI Agency Relations

Review: On March 3,2014 my home telephone number was charged by MCI 15.66 for what they say is for two directory assistance calls. We have [redacted] landline service and I called [redacted] to ask why we were billed by MCI for directory assistance when we have [redacted] only for our service. They told me I should not have been billed by MCI and it was a scam and not to pay it. They called it double billing. I could never get anyone at MCI to answer number given in bill I was sent so I left my name and number but no one called so I called numerous times and finally someone called me back and left a message while I was at work that they returned my phone call. I just kept calling each day until I finally got a person to talk to. I was not rude or loud and hateful to them but the lady was very short and rude to me would not answer why I was double charged and I did not even ask her to lower the bill and she said I can lower your charges for you. I said I do not want you to lower the charges I do not want to pay this twice. Before I could explain to her anything else she said I will take note of this and write it down that you are not going to pay your bill. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she transferred me to another lady who told me we had to dial [redacted] to get their service and I never did that. She said yes you did I am looking at it right now. I tried to explain to her what [redacted] told me and while I was explaining she hung up on me. I never used any foul language to her or was rude. Hopefully they recorded the conversation I had with her and the first lady. They were very short and rude and couldn't even explain why I was being chared so much. There was only one directory assistance call made that day by my husband and [redacted] charged us for that. It was to get a number for [redacted].The charges are totally too high also. The highest I ever paid for directory assistance is 1.95 a call. Who would pay that when you can go online and get it for free?Desired Settlement: I would like this taken off my bill and for my husband's credit not to be affected by this.

Review: I got a bill from MCI for $88.40 for 1 34 minute call. They are not my carrier and I never used them. This is a scam.MCI said [redacted] had billed through them. I called [redacted] and that is not true. I called my carrier, [redacted], who opened an official case and investigated. Today [redacted] said I should contact you. I have also sent letters to MCI, The Florida and California Attorneys General, the Public Utilities Commission, and the FCC. I have contacted MCI 3 times by phone and today am sending a formal letter. The last [redacted] I talked to them they said, "You are disputing this?" and indicated something would be coming for me to fill in. NOTHING has come.If you look online this is a scam targeted at many people who are powerless to fight it and end up in collection! something MUST be done. The call they billed me for was Nov 22,2013 but the bill did not arrive until January 2014.Desired Settlement: I want you to take action to put this scam out of business. People are just paying because there is no way to fight it once it goes to collection. This is wrong.Perhaps you will have more clout with the people who can take action. Contact me with what you have done

Response:

April 15, 2014Dear **. [redacted],This letter is in response to the above referenced complaint you filed against MCI disputing charges of $88.40 invoiced to you on January 24, 2014 for a call placed from your telephone number ###-###-####. You report you do not have, nor have ever used MCI for any services. You report you have [redacted] for all telephone service and your attempts to resolve the issue directly with MCI were not resolved to your satisfaction. The following provides information from MCl's research and actions taken to address your concern.MCl's records confirm that the $88.40 charges in question were for a direct dialed call placed from telephone number ###-###-#### to telephone number ###-###-#### for 34 minutes on November 15, 2013. MCI does not have telephone number ###-###-#### active on an account in our billing system, so the call was billed at MCl's tariff rates for non-subscribed traffic on our network. This rate is much higher than the rates available to subscribed MCI customers with an active account. Due to MCI does not have a third-party billing agreement with your local telephone provider, [redacted], the MCI charges were billed directly to you via a billing vendor located in [redacted], Florida. The Customer Service number on the invoice is ###-###-#### routes to the billing vendor. MCI applied a toll block on your telephone number ###-###-#### effective December 17, 2013 and the block remains in place at this time.I called ###-###-#### and spoke with [redacted] today. I explained to her that every call that is placed from your home telephone goes is first connected to your local telephone company's local switch. If the call is a toll call, the call is than routed to the long distance carrier's long distance switch for connection to the local telephone company's local switch that services the terminating telephone number for delivery to the service address of the terminating telephone. If [redacted] is your chosen local and long distance telephone provider, than a direct dialed call from your telephone should be handled entirely by [redacted] to "handoff' to the local telephone company for delivery to the terminating telephone number. Therefore, MCI has no information on how the direct dialed call placed on November 15, 2013 was delivered to MCl's network and that question needs to be directed to [redacted] for research and resolution.Due to it appears you did not intend for the call in question to be routed to MCI for processing, MCI has removed the $88.40 charges as a one-[redacted] courtesy. You will not be responsible for payment of the $88.40 invoice billed January 24,1014. MCl's actions to apply the toll block on your telephone number ###-###-#### should also prevent any additional misrouted calls from being processed via our network. If you have any questions regarding this letter, you may reach me at ###-###-#### Monday through Friday between 8:00AM and 4:00PM Central Time.Sincerely,

Review: The caller, [redacted] which comes across the caller ID as unavailable, keeps calling and not leaving a message. It is very annoying having the phone always ringing and no one leaves a message. I checked to see who the number belongs to and it comes up as MCIMETRO ACCESS TRANSMISSION SERVICES LLC.

My husband finally answered today to see who this was and there was silence on the other end.Desired Settlement: Stop calling!

Review: SCAM!! Got bills from them for a phone that I haven't had in 3 years or more!

I began getting bills from them in November, 2013. I disregarded it because I didn't know what it was for. Got another bill in December and one in January. Received a letter today saying that the service would be discontinued for non-payment. I called them and they said the bill was for long-distance service for a phone that I haven't had in several years. THIS IS A SCAM!!!Desired Settlement: I want to know how many people they have scammed that have paid for a non-service!
