Nextdoor requires members to join using their real name joining at their real home addressWe have several methods we use to verify members including billing address verification and SSN and public records checks
As Nextdoor is a member driven platform platform in over thousand
neighborhoods nationwide we can not actively search for and remove content that violates our GuidelinesWe reply on our members to anonymously report any content or member that they feel violates our Guidelines directly to Nextdoor Leads or Nextdoor SupportOnce reported the neighborhood Lead or Nextdoor Support will research the reported content and take action where our guidelines have been violated
I have reached out to this member on 8/09/and asked them to report these fake accounts directly to Nextdoor Support

Nextdoor is a social network for neighbors to share locally relevant information and connect with their neighborsWith such a specific goal in mind we ask that all members abide by the Community
Guidelines:***
One of those guidelines is about Promoting your business or offering your services
Nextdoor members frequently want to know about businesses and services offered by their neighbors, but do not want to be overwhelmed by unsolicited marketing offersTherefore, the following rules apply for members wanting to participate as a business on Nextdoor:
We encourage you to list your business or services on NextdoorBusiness and service listings are a great way to get the word out to your neighbors
To list your business, you should create or claim your business page* on NextdoorThis allows neighbors to easily find your business when they’re looking for help or recommendations
A business listing can be set up by both businesses and by individual neighbors offering services like babysitting, snow-blowing, or dog-walking
You may add your business affiliation to the Biography section of your profile
You may respond to requests for recommendations by offering your services like baby sitting, dog-walking, etc., as long as you are up front that it is you providing the service or that you are affiliated with the business you are recommendingSee our policy on conflicts of interest
You may not make unsolicited posts about your business or service in the main newsfeed or via private message
You may not announce commercial events to the main newsfeed
To add commercial events such as real estate open houses or class schedules to the Events Calendar only, you must un-select "Announce to neighbors" AND select "Visibility: Allow anyone on Nextdoor to view or share this event." Learn more
This guideline also applies to individuals who occasionally sell homemade or hobby goods, or who provide casual services for extra income
This member has posted advertisements on Nextdoor for his “Music Lessons” and has been previously warned about this type of contentAfter being warned he continued to post these self promotional ad’s on Nextdoor, so we placed his account on Limited “Read Only” access until he agrees to cease posting these personal ad’s on Nextdoor

Nextdoor does not allow Self Promotion on the site and has several guidelines against business postings and self promotion as listed below:

Nextdoor is a social network for neighbors to share locally relevant information and connect with their neighborsWith such a specific goal in mind we ask that all members abide by the Community Guidelines:
*** These Guidelines include rules about not having multiple accounts, using fake names and creating a personal account for your Business, which should have a business account
This member has created seperate accounts at these two addresses all under different namesWe have left his primary account open at his residential address (as members are only allowed to have one account each) and have placed the account at his business address on hold until the member is able to open a business account using the real business name instead of a personal account
I have reached out to this member to determine which account he would like to keep and to provide him with instructions on how to properly claim his business page

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:Multiple posts were removed by Nextdoor lead(s)The response I received only addresses one of themNextdoor.com did not address the recurring problem of the lead(s) not following Nextdoor*** guidelines
Sincerely,Alan ***

Complaint:***I am rejecting this response because:
Again, the issue is not with the nameI don't even know how that name was entered, because I'm more than happy to provide my real name for this applicationMy issue is how they handle their securityThey emailed me out of the blue, because I did not submit a ticket with their support team, asking me to reply to the email with a copy of my passport of drivers licenseI don't understand how it's difficult to get that this is unacceptableYour support team contacted me without me reaching out firstThey then asked me to scan and send a copy of either my passport or driver's license to confirm my identityThe email was unsecure and posed a threat to my personal information for the following reasons:
1) I did not initiate the support ticketThere is nothing but the name of "Nextdoor" in the email for the user to confirm who's sending this emailFor all I know, it this could have been someone spoofing your service to request this personal information.
2) Sending the emails over an insecure channel poses a risk for the information to be mishandled or intercepted by a 3rd party who would then have access to my name, driver's license number, address, passport ID, photo, etc
Many companies take user security very seriouslyIt would appear Nextdoor is not a company that doesIf they took user security seriously, they would have better practices in placeThis could be done by having your support staff send an email that says "You have a secure messagePlease open the Nextdoor app or sign into your account to view it" and have users upload the information while in the app or on the siteThis would require the user to authenticate by signing into their account to view the message and to send it securely through the siteIf necessary, they could even use a **TRUSTED** 3rd party site to handle this data
As is, your security practices are disgusting and you should really change how you handle people's personal information before you have a breachYour current practices invite many many issues that could easily be remedied if you actually took security seriously.
This is what I want a response to, not the situation with my name
Sincerely,Josh ***

This member has only had one contact with Nextdoor Support and that was to warn about him about the Nextdoor Guidelines regarding Disagreements and Conflicts***
At Nextdoor we ask all of our members to
keep discussions civil and to treat each other with respectThis members posted comments such as:
“Hold it Russell wait!! You left out RACIST!! You better correct yourself..otherwise the BLEEDING heart liberal's that you obviously FOLLOW…will DRUM you OUT of the 'special society'!! FYI…might I suggest you take in a homeless person..and care for them…that way..you'll be saving a human being..and feeding YOUR ego! It
and
Now go back to YOUR beach community…and practice…RACIST…WHITE Supremacist….Sexist…Islamophobic…come on…Practice all the words they teach you in BIGOT School! I'm done bantering with you now..I have a strict requirement of my opposition having at least a IQ…I've sized you up…and it's unlikely you doSee ya!
These comments were clear violations of our guidelines, and this member was warned and asked to keep discussions civil going forwardThis member then deactivated their account and ceased use of NextdoorHis complaints about neighborhood Leads has never been brought to our attention before and had nothing to do with why he was warned for violating the Guidelines

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because:I jumped thru all the hoops, signed people up, and still no gift card! They took at least months to respond to my complaint! I guess I will need to let everyone know of this unethical company
Sincerely,

Upon registering for a Nextdoor account, all members agree to our Community Guidelines, which are intended to help promote healthy and neighborly discussionIf a member is reported for inappropriate content, we investigate and only take disciplinary action if we find a clear violation of our
GuidelinesDisciplinary action may include removal of content, suspension of posting privileges, or even a permanent ban from Nextdoor. On May 1, 2017, Member was reported for getting into a heated personal dispute in a public discussion threadPer our Guidelines, we ask members to move personal conversations into private message because such conversation takes a public conversation away from a community focusWe temporarily placed Member’s account into read-only access, which allows for him to see the newsfeed but not post to itOn the same day, Member reached out to ask about his restricted accountOn May 3, 2017, we informed him of his Guideline violation and the temporary disciplinary action takenWe also informed Member that we placed everyone involved in the personal dispute into read only accessMember also asked about the steps to becoming a forum moderator, and we explained that given Member’s history of conflict on Nextdoor such a promotion would not make sense at this time but asked for Member’s suggestions on other members that could impartially serve their community. On May 10, 2017, we restored Member’s account and closed the case as resolvedIf Member wants to delete his comments, he can do so by following the instructions in this link:***Likewise, if Member wants to deactivate his account he can do so through the instructions here:***

Nextdoor is an online community forum for neighbors to get to know each other and share information about their neighborhood with each otherNextdoor is open to members from the age of up, which means we have a set of Community Guidelines that we ask each member to abide by when they joinLink
to these guidelines is below:***If we find that our Nextdoor Guidelines were violated and disciplinary action is warranted, we generally do one or more of the following:Remove the content in question.Contact the member with a warning.Place the member on “read-only” access temporarily or permanently.Suspend the member's account temporarily or permanently.Ban the address to prevent any further accounts from being created at that address. This member was reported to Nextdoor Support five (5) times for making abusive comments about members of a different raceUpon reviewing this member's content we found several violations of our Guidelines, specifically our guidelines about Racial Profiling and DiscriminationFound here: *** Nextdoor Support reached out to this member seven (7) times beginning on 3/6/17, to discuss these posts and comments and had six(6) different agents explain the guidelines each time with the Member agreeing to abide by themMember continued to make discriminatory remarks, however, including the below two made on 6/5/17.“Everyone in Orange who hires undocumented immigrant labor to do their house cleaning their Nanny work there gardening whatever it was propagating young gangsters growing up here in Orange County who have no regard for the law because their parents don't and to say otherwise is simply naive.”“Warning! OCDA ignored hate crimes VillaPark against white citizens by Mexicans for political reasons”Member was placed on Limited Access on 6/6/for continued refusal to adhere to our Member Guidelines

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
I did not receive any results from the adsOf course, they don't promise or guarantee any particular results, but at this point, I believe they are not clear regarding the amount the agents would have to pay$for days of January and then they charged $for the month of February, that's around $per dayThe price is not clear in the members agreement, they do not disclose or clarify the price that we will be paying for a monthThis company needs to disclose the price and be clear with the agentsI also cancelled my services when they contacted me and the rep that called me said he will look into it and didn't call meI do not want to pay for the month of February, I did not use the service, it was not clear what service would I be receiving. This is a legit scam and other agents should be aware of these servicesThank you
Sincerely,Elsie***

Nextdoor is a social network for neighbors to share locally relevant information and connect with their neighborsWith such a specific goal in mind we ask that all members abide by the Community Guidelines:***
These Guidelines include rules about using your real name
Every neighbor signs in using their real first and last name, just like they'd introduce themselves in person.Using your real name (and not an alias, pseudonym, or abbreviation) helps to build trust among neighborsThis leads to better communication and fosters a stronger community
Keep in mind that our Member Agreement requires that members use their real name
Accounts with fake names are automatically suspended from Nextdoor in order to limit possible fake accounts exposure to the neighborhood news feed and directory until either the real name is ascertained or until the member provides proof of their name
Nextdoor is a word of mouth member to member shared platformMembers can invite friends, family and neighbors to join several ways including by postcard sent from Nextdoor to uploading their email contacts and sending email invitations
In order to verify members are using their real names we reserve the right to request proof of that name, either by legal identification or by other methods that prove a members name
We suggest looking at our Help Center for more answers on how members get invited to join Nextdoor
