Just another calorie-tracking,step-tracking tool, only more expensive and with condescending bot-generated messages trying to motivate you to stick with your starvation-level calorie count. Don’t waste your money.
I like the information which is basically a repeat of things you hear everywhere but in small doable portions. My responses need to be saved somewhere that I can access them, like a goal tab under the home key. Just like we don't remember what we ate yesterday, I can't remember a goal I typed in yesterday.
The program is expensive considering that the coaching is non-existent and sometimes feels like a computer responding to me and is not personalized at all. ie: 'Can you reframe this?' If I knew how to do that, that I wouldn't have the wrong thinking. Give me some examples of what the reframing might look like. If the coaches have access to my food and exercise, give me some ideas/options that I need to work on that are personalized for me and then I have a starting point to actually change what I'm doing wrong. And they need to actually contact you. Just saying 'Hi' gets contacting me off their check-list, but doesn't help me at all.
The presentations are informative but juvenile in their presentation. I am not a fan of being talked down too but I understand that you are appealing to a common denominator. I like the food logging and that has been an education. It would be helpful if the app was able to sync with Sugr so I only had to add daily blood sugar data once. The 'coaching' is worthless and I find the intrusions annoying and have asked him to stop texting me. The approach is impersonal and ineffective. For a long time, I thought it was a bot and still, am not certain. I must admit that I have dropped some weight but am not confident that I can keep dropping as I have plateaued for a while now. I will probably re-subscribe one time and unless there is more weight loss, will abandon it.
I feel like I’ve gotten some good advice and am gaining a new perspective on food but I feel like I could do the same with just a place to log my meals and it could be free. I rarely hear from my coach and I find it easy to get distracted.
Information overload! While all of the information is helpful, it's too much all at once. Considering that time is one of the main factors for those of us in this program, all of the information dump is a bit overwhelming. I don't think simply reading the articles is enough...we need time to truly process what is being revealed to us & knowing that there are 3-4 more articles to read leaves you no time to properly process what you are reading. Also, while I know that the app tries to be fun & humorous, at time, the silly #'s and parenthesis full of side info tend to knock you off track. I find myself avoiding even reading them because they cause you to pause your thoughts about the information you are trying to process. I really enjoy the food logging portion of the app, it's quick & easy. I think I had hoped there would be some more one-on-one tailoring in the program as well.
Positives: I am a vegetarian, and I have been able to maintain my vegetarian lifestyle while on this program (a lot of other diets and programs are anti-vegetarian, but Noom works well with vegetarian and vegan lifestyles). I am learning a lot about positive food choices, reducing refined sugars and pre-packaged foods, monitoring calorie intake, exercise philosophies, whole body health (including sleep practices, stress factors, psychology, etc), and the physiological components of weight loss. I have lost some weight. I am eating healthier than I probably ever have in my adult life. After the first 2 weeks are over, Noom opens up the "Noom Groups" function of the app so that you can motivate others and be motivated by others that are on the same weight loss journey -- it is nice to share your experience with others and get feedback. A lot of the Noom recipes are very tasty.
Results: I have been on the program for approximately 6 weeks and have lost 12 pounds. I lost the first 10 pounds in the first 3 weeks, then things have slowed considerably for the last 3 weeks. I have basically plateaued -- which is very surprising to me because I am "moderately obese" and have another 50 lbs to lose before I am statistically in a "healthy weight" category. I am shocked that I have plateaued so early in my weight loss journey, and 3 weeks seems like a long time to see so little progress, even though I feel I have been very disciplined about sticking with the Noom program and recommendations. I am trying not to give up hope -- and try remember that success comes in many different forms. (ie: reductions in medications, more energy, etc)
Negatives: I believe that every Noom participant is given the same calorie guidelines, no matter what their starting point is, or what their lifestyle is, or no matter their size, or gender, or fitness level, or goals, or health conditions. Everyone in my Noom group has a daily calorie budget of only 1200 calories -- which seems extremely low to me. Prior to Noom, I was eating 3K-4k calories per day (way too much -- I know). So immediately restricting calories to 1200 was extremely difficult -- the first two weeks were miserable. I felt like I was starving. But I stuck with the program and that is when I achieved my greatest weight loss. But I have continued to stick with 1200 calories per day and added in the recommended exercise (which also slightly increases your daily calorie allowance based on how much you exercise on a daily basis, so I now am eating approximately 1300 calories per day), and I think my body is revolting against the calorie restrictions and becoming extremely efficient with the calories that I am consuming. I am still always hungry -- I am not "starving" like I was the first 2 weeks, but I still never feel satiated. The Noom app gives a lot of advice for how to stay satiated -- but in the end, I am just really hungry, and I think about food ALL THE TIME. I don't feel it is safe to reduce calories further, so there is nutritionally not much else I can do to bolster my weight loss results or speed. I don't know if I will continue to lose weight -- but I am not giving up yet. I fear that If I were to increase my calories to a "more normal" 1800-2000 calories per day, that my body would not know what to do with all the extra food and would probably make me instantaneously fatter. ugh. I hope that I don't have to survive on 1200 calories for the rest of my life in order to maintain the 12 pounds that I have already lost.
I’ve been doing this program for just over 8 weeks. I’m really disappointed in this program so far. I paid a lot of money for the personalized aspect that was advertised. My goal specialist offers the bare minimum of fluffy shallow advice which is often spouting canned responses. My group is also equally fluffy and shallow.
I paid extra for the flexible meal plan and the online consultation did not allow for all aspects of my food preferences/needs and I often had to choose one preference instead of being able to choose more than one option. The meal plan is completely useless to me.
The exercise plan, however, was very helpful and included lots of great options. The other useful feature is the logging of meals. I would not, however, recommend this app to anyone.
I signed up for the $1 trial through the website, and I was happy to acknowledge the autocharge if I don't cancel by a certain time. What I didn't realize -- and what wasn't in plain sight -- was the fact that to cancel, you must have the app installed to your phone. So the only way to avoid being charged if you don't like their product is having their app installed on your phone where it has access to your information. I had to reinstall the app just to get rid of it. That seems like a huge violation of privacy first and foremost. I've fought with companies who try to reel me back in when I didn't like their product, and while I dislike this very dishonest sales technique, I've never before encountered any kind of subscription or product where I can only cancel by having the app installed on my phone. After downloading, you can't just cancel. You have to contact your coach to ask to cancel, at which point they will send you a link to do so. That's not a trial or a subscription, it feels a lot more like fraud.
As far as the service goes, I was highly suspicious when one of the first things they said was that success is entirely based on my willingness to believe it will work. If I fail, it's my own fault for not believing in the program, not the fact that perhaps an online virtual weight loss service might not provide a personalized plan that works for everyone. I was really put off by such a bold and accusatory statement from the get-go, but at that point, I'd already signed up. New users even need to take a test about their motivation style and I chose no tough love just encouragement, so this message has nothing to do with motivation. It's just there to remind you that they're not to blame for anything.
The next thing that surprised me was that after signing up, I got all these options to pay extra for meal plans and other add-ons. This company charges you something like $40-$50/month for their "service" which you have to pay entirely up front for the entirety of the months they decide it will take you to lose weight, yet meal planning isn't part of it. What exactly does this company DO then besides bully you into losing weight with accusations that you're just not believing in the program enough? Apparently, all that money gives me access to the same fitness tools that you can find on literally every free weight loss app and the added bonus of a virtual "trainer" who checks in with you to set up goals and keep you on track from afar. Every single thing on Noom can be found for free online or in other free apps or by chatting with a friend. And somehow they are charging people for things that are otherwise free.
Noom is a clever way for its creators to make money off of people desperate to lose weight and unaware of how readily these resources are available for free. The cancellation process is an absolute disgrace, not allowing people to cancel through the website if they already deleted the worthless app off their phone. I cancelled well within my trial and the $1 I paid to find out what a scam it was seems like too much in comparison -- I can only imagine how angry it must make people who actually paid more for this useless app. Considering how scammy this company is from my barely used trial, I'll be closely monitoring my credit card to make sure they don't try and charge it despite me canceling.
I downloaded the app to see what it was all about. I deleted the app a few days later. Had no interaction on the app. Today they took $129 from my account with no warning. Beware. This company will steal your money.
This program is a scam. I have tried to cancel my trial subscription well within the two-week trial period, and even received an acknowledgment that that's what I wanted to do. I was directed to a a URL which would allegedly help me to end my trial subscription, but after that I was on a ceaseless internet merry-go-round that did not lead to a confirmed cancellation. I have now (thanks to advice I read in a review of Noom by an aggrieved customer) cancelled any future payments that hinged on my not getting out of my trial subscription.
Signed up for free trial 14 day trial and meal plan that's $59 to be applied after free trial, along with personalized coaching. Not only was I immediately charged $59 I never received personalized coaching thr coach said they would get back to me on a specific day which they never did and I never received any meal plan. I was able to cancel trial subscription... I think, but no where am I able to ask for a refund and their policy states they wont issue one..however I never recieved they services they promised

I was skeptical as with all weight loss programs but the guidance and support of the NOOM staff and my fellow Noomers has shown that it works. I am losing weight at a reasonable pace and feeling happier!
I cancelled a day before my one week trial ended. The next day they charged my bank account for $85! The membership is only $44!
No one will answer my emails or call me back!
Such a SCAM! I'm going to write on as many blogs and online forums as I can!! Noom keeps charging me and I have been trying to cancel my subscription for months!! I want a refund this is horrible. Totally unethical business
I had a 14 day trial missed the cancellation by one day. I wanted to cancel because the coach I had would not respond quickly. Also I had noticed that not many of the food items were not in the food log so I would have to enter most of the items and it dose not let me enter the item correctly. And dose not color code it according for their diet program. They would not refund my money so I asked for a new coach, given a new coach I was bound to make this program work that I had paid my hard earned money for. But shockingly I just gained weight. Due to the inaccurate food tracking system. They have set you up to fail all they want is your money. I spoke to the coach about the issue with the food tracking system and she said "improving the meal log system is something that we are working on. Sorry it dose not meet your current need. Log your meals in My Fitness pal. And use this app for the articles and me and the group for accountability " That is enough they know they are a scam.

This company is a scam. They charge more than advertised and offer no refunds. There customer service does not provide any resolution options for customer complaints. Buyer Beware!
I signed up because I took a marketing quiz online from them and it said that women in my demographic often need specific combinations of foods to lose weight, and that that information would be covered because the course would be personalized for me. I was also told that the coach would be providing a personalized plan and that coaches were nutritionists or psychologists etc. depending on the person's goals. I specified that I wanted to start with nutrition when the app prompted me to choose whether to start with nutrition or working out. I did not ever receive any personalized information and all the information in the course is basically in Self magazine or some other women's health magazine or website. I'm sure that the coaches are robots for most of their responses and a person only writes the response if you ask specific questions over and over again. It was really hard to get any useful information from the coach. Every question I asked, the answer was "whatever is best for you". The group is not peers; it's random people who have totally different issues. I didn't have any trouble quitting the subscription service, but I had asked for a refund for all the reasons above and was denied. I then wrote back and said I would submit the screen shots I have of the ads claiming I would get personalized information to the Revdex.com with a complaint, and they wrote back immediately that the manager has agreed to give me a refund.
Horrible customer service, I signed up for a free trial which I never used. I had forgotten and received no email letting me know I was going to be charged. The $129 payment for 4 months was not correctly stated. I had no clue that if I forgot to cancel I would be paying $129 otherwise I wouldn’t have signed up for the free trial.
Had previously signed up and purchased a meal plan from them. Cancelled subscription. Later on restarted subscription trial, and recharged me for meal plan that I had already paid for. Will not answer emails or IM. Charging $59 for something I did not sign up for.

This is a great program. It is simple to use and informative. It focuses on changing habits in such a way that you are doing it slowly and without realizing it. New information is coming in everyday, but not so much that it is overwhelming, and then that same information will be incorporated or brought back later so that learning is reinforced.
